Battery cover not fitting quite right - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I dont know how to accurately explain this....
but my battery cover is swollen on the edge by the vol up and vol down rocker. It looks like its on right, but its almost like the metal contacts underneath are stopping it from being flush. Its bad enough I can get my fingernail in there. Anyone else seeing this?
I HATE these cheap battery covers

Had this problem to I just took mine back off and started at one end making sure to press down firmly at the contact points
sent from a galaxy note2 far far away

Unless something really odd is going on, I suggest pushing harder...

Back Cover Flexing?

I was wondering if anyone else had some backcover flexing. Specifically, right between the camera and the google logo. This is with the standard cover with 1750mhA battery.
It just bothers me a bit because its not perfect. :S
I definitely have some flexing there and for me, if I press my finger to the right of the camera (looking at the back) it flexes and makes a slight clicking noise. Bothers me too and I end up doing it on purpose way too much >< My friend works at the place I bought it and she let me try another back to see if it made a difference but it did the same thing so I think it's normal!
It's good to know that it's not just my phone experiencing this. Thanks of the reply.
Mine doesn't flex at all!
mine does, and the one i replaced did as well, i expect the 3rd one does the same so i didnt go back to exchange it
same to 3 of my frd's
so, if u dont like it, put 2 layers of scrotch tape on the inside of the battery cover around the camera area

Galaxy Note 2 build quality...???

I have bought a new Galaxy Note 2 a couple of days ago but there are some problems with build quality, I don't know if they are widespread or not!
The battery cover squeaks when I press over it, mainly near loudspeaker and volume buttons.
The volume and power buttons feel a bit loose, i.e. they move half a millimeter vertically.
Do you have the same problems? Is my device defective? Do I have any chance with warranty to fix these?

buttons do feel a bit loose, but no biggie for me especially those on volume. battery cover squeaks a bit when pressed too hard, but it's plastic, and plastic with right amount of pressure squeaks.
I have minimal movement in the buttons. A fraction of a millimeter, if any. I have absolutely no squeek with normal use but can fine an area that squeeks if i try hard. Make sure your cover is properly fitted.
Mine doesn't squeak in normal use either but if I push it, it will!

No this isnt stupid thread.
I have some problems. F... Phone for 600Eur
I hate plastic, so I hate Samsung for that. But sorry the buttons don't feel loose, and what do you mean by back plate squeaks near speaker grill, when do you try to open it or just normally press it when it's firmly sitting there? If it's the latter then mine doesn't squeak too.
But other than these, I don't like build quality, how can I when it's all plastic!
My phone makes an awful noise when I drop it. Solution - don't drop it.
My phone makes a noise when I press the back cover. Solution - don't press the back cover.
Is pressing the back cover of the phone something that you need to do in normal use?
Anyhow I saw a comment a while ago that taking the cover off or putting it on in a certain way can damage the tabs along the edge and cause it to squeak. Check the tabs and see if they are all there or are damaged

It's a flagship for crying out loud! You really think the solution is not touching or thinking about it? Don't get me wrong, I love every bit of my phone but Samsung really has to do better with build quality of it's flagships. What was wrong with S2 design? It didn't squeak and was more scratch resistant...

I agree! Infact on S2 the bottom bulk ensure that I hold the phone the right way. Holding Note 2 is a dicey affair as its symmetrical design makes it difficult to know the orientation. I HATE glossy plastic button against the Matte finish, practically indestructible thin plastic on S2. Although I don't like the exposed bottom bulk which is not covered by the battery cover! I personally prefer the plastic cover on Galaxy R which completely cover the back including the area around the MicroUSB port which can easily get scratched otherwise.

While plastic, it is much stronger than some of the more popular alternatives out there.
Which do you prefer?

I have a Galaxy Ace which squeaks a bit. So I use a case which makes it not squeak at all.
You could try that.
Back squeaking would be gone if you put a business card between battery and back cover, so don't think that it was made due pulling it off in a bad way or anything else!

My battery cover squeaks on the opposite side -- near the power button. Although this is probably because I'm using the official flip cover and the portion of the battery cover near the volume buttons is quite stable and thick. Honestly it was initially annoying as hell because I noticed it a week after getting the phone, but it doesn't bother me as much now. At least it doesn't really exhibit the squeaking when I'm actually using the phone -- only when I'm making myself notice it. LOL.
The buttons (volume and power) are a bit flimsy. Way too easy to press, especially the power button. But I'm using the official flip cover + IntelliCover app. So I don't have to actually USE the power button anymore. Not a real solution, but it's a good workaround for those using flip covers.
One more thing to add to obsession list, bezels tend to squeak on certain points!
bezel is coming off
any one expensed the bezel around the screen coming loose?
bought 4 days and already seeing this
It's like that from beginning... Nothing to worry about! Maybe a mechanism to avoid breaking...
Mine has nothing wrong... no squeaks, no loss buttons

yep, took it off and put it back on several times, you would only notice it if you were holding it to play a game like asphalt
the creaking cover is near the part where you stick your nail in to take the cover off
while the bezel creaks right above the volume button

You using the stock cover or a flip cover? Mine doesn't creak at all or maybe I am just deaf.

im talking about the battery cover, not the case lol
mine has creaking near the speaker only on a certain spot its not that bad
Nope, mine does not either. Don't you hate it when you like your phones flawless then you find something minor that really isn't a big deal..... but drives you crazy? LOL

My mom's Gnote 2 on AT&T does this as well. Its annoying, but I think they all do this to some extent. If you take the battery door off it doesn't do it. But when you place the device to your ear for calls you can hear the creaking.
Mine used to be silent, but then with me taking it off and on a hundred times trying to figure out the wireless charging I think the tabs get a little worn and don't hold the cover in place as tightly as when new. Sucks, but I bet money a new battery cover will fix it. I just try not to pay attention. I know, that's not what we should have to do with a $650 device, but it is what it is (still the best phone on the market).
I chatted with Samsung asking if this was normal and he said no. I don't think the Galaxy S III had any creaking going on.
Can more people comment?

Jajaja same here. Right behind the volume buttons. Was not successful with the wireless charging. I think with time or exsecive on/off its bound to happen on a plastic cover. It's flimsy on its own but on the phone, I'm surprised how sturdy it is.

The Samsung Flip Cover replaces the battery door with one that is slightly thicker. It's not really noticeable, but the phone feels a lot more solid and all of my creeks went away.

Never had that issue with the SIII, but it is an issue with the Note II. Samsung was no help and doesn't have the T-Mobile version in stock yet. A rep told me "this is the first we are hearing of this issue".

I got a flip cover, but it's hard to use the phone 1 handed... when you pull it out, you need to flip the flap without dropping the phone... and then it kinda hangs there uselessly unless you fold it behind the back which feels weird... I don't know, it looks sleek as heck, but more annoying than useful IMHO
In any case, I'm using my Nilkin case with my Note II and with that I don't hear any creaking because it's a hard shell case, actually makes the phone feel better in the hand (I swear Samsung wants us to drop the phone by making the largest, most unwieldy phone and then putting it into a glossy, plasticky and slippery frame. Sheesh, why can't they take a note from HTC and put some rubberized plastic on it? At least it'll be more scratch resistant.
My back cover and case creak, so annoying! Hope to see some replacement back covers with NFC soon to see if I can fix this...
figured out the issue, the bezel appears to be "loose"
even if it seems perfectly attached, try pushing it in towards the centre abit(so it exposes more glass), mine popped and the creaking is mostly gone.

[Q] Back cover creak.

Hello there!
I bought my xperia m 10 days ago, and i am pleased so far, except for one thing..
I noticed yesterday that the removable cover has started creaking, especially on the side with no buttons where the usb port is.
Has anyone else noticed that with their device? Is this something that inevitably happens after a while, or should i try to get it replaced because of a defect?
Yes, it started happening a few days after I bought or... If it happens to others too, I'll assume it's inevitable
This message was brought to you from my Sony Xperia M C1905 using Tapatalk.
Hmm I see..
Well I thought I'd ask because if it is something that is going to happen anyway, i will not bother taking it to the store.
They will have to send the phone to the service center and all that fuss just to replace the back cover, so it is not worth it.
If someone else can also confirm that this is the case with their phone I will be assured.
My phone also makes noises when pushed, most at top right and bottom left corners.
Well I take it there is nothing I can do about it then, so no point in returning it, I will have to live with it...
It is a shame though, because other than that the phone is outstanding in terms of value, I see no reason to spend any more that what I spent on this. It hits the sweet spot for me in the price/performance scale.
Has anyone found any solution to this problem?
I have tried putting little pieces of paper at the hotspots (bottom left and below the usb port in my case) but I had little success...
I am also curious to hear reports from others, maybe a silicon case can lessen the issue...

I have silicone case, it is the same. I am thinking about using thin layer of hotglue. It can be peeled of easily.
After some experimenting I found that putting a small piece of paper (3mm tall and about 3cm long) between the phone and the cover eliminated the major creaks that where in the lower-middle left side of my phone. I just folded a piece of printer paper in two and cut it to the above dimensions. If you try it make sure to put it in a way that does not block the small plastic clips that clip on the phone.

Notes frame coming unglued ??

Just under the volume button is popping out. After about a month or so thinking it was the case - I just put on a Samsung stock case and I believed it was not attached to the phone. Turns out, today I was looking a little deeper and the glass screen is bowing up from the bottom. Another words, you can push with your thumb on the back cover and it will bulge up while the frame stays. Never been dropped or even hardly carried.
Anyone else seen or heard of this?
Nobody had any issues of the glass pushing up in the middle left side of the phone under the volume button. I might as well play the lotto then......or not.
Ok, looks like my battery is a bit swollen and may have caused it??? Anyone else notice anything?
Mines been fine
I have had mine since last November, It has been in an Otterbox for the better part of six months, I have not noticed anything like you are describing.
My phone is awesome. So is it's condition.
