Enter to send SMS?? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Im coming from a BB. Being able to press enter to send a text is pretty awesome. The normal send button is pretty high and i feel like im going to drop the phone.
I know there are keyboard apps, but its my understanding that the note II keyboard is, in most cases superior to these apps.
Any ideas?

I use GO SMS and there is an "Enter key sends messages" option in the settings.

intellipad question regarding sending text messages

When on the today screen, you select new message. Upon seeing the new message screen and intellipad input method is selected, you can't use the intellipad to choose names in contacts. You can type out the name of the person in your contact, but it won't automatically complete the name, and verify the contact you are sending to (with the contact's cellphone number displayed). But if you type a contact's name using the keyboard, after hitting 3 keys, it automatically displays candidates that you can choose to send message to. This creates additional hassles, use a keyboard to select the contact you're gonna send message to, then sellect intellipad to input text messages. It's kind of a hassle. Any ideas?
Agree.
I do it the other way around...when I want to send a text message, I click on the call button, find the person I need with intellipad, then click and hold the name, and the menu that pops up allows me to send them a text message...easier and faster this way!
Ok. Thanks for the tip. Sure hope somebody fixes the issue though.
Unfortunately, it's the way IntelliPad was designed.
<techie>
Instead of trying to handle the entered text on whatever text box/trich text pad/label/unsupported text object, IntelliPad builds the word in it's own little box until you tell it to move on (by pressing enter or space), and then just moves the word onto the active control.
This way, you have less issues with the text not working as expected, even though it causes the one or two niggles like in Messaging .

Mark email as read possible in TF3D?

Hey guys,
Is it possible to have TF3D mark emails as read automatically when you select the e-mail tab, the same way the SMS messages become marked as read when you press the SMS tab? It really irks me that everytime I receive a new email, i have to open it to get rid of the notification, even if I already know what the email is about from the preview.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
This has been bugging me too. It would also be useful to be able to delete emails from this screen too by having the option under the 'Menu' button, again like the SMS tab.
Here Here
While I cannot offer any advice on this, I can say that it certainly is a pain.
I would love to see a "Mark as Read" button added or even better - a "Delete" button added to the email preview page. Even a key combination or hardware key re-map while in that screen would work, but would be a 2nd class fix as it would mean having to open the keyboard.
Is this issue addressed in any of the ROMs out there?
Anyone know if that useless "Push To Talk" button could be remapped to do this?
Thanks!

This would be perfect, or a "mark all as read" button in the Manilla GUI under email

Niggly Problems - SMS and Contacts

I have had my TP2 on Orange UK for a while, recently upgraded to WM6.5, and have a couple of really frustrating problems:-
1. If an SMS message cannot be sent it goes into drafts and doesn't resend automatically. This is bad enough, but when I open it to try to resend it has my own mobile number as the recipient, so cannot simply press "send". The only way I can resend it is by selecting "menu" then "forward" and then re-entering the recipient. Unbelieveably frustrating!! Can anyone help please?
2. I'm a long time HTC WM user, and well used to the challenge of Phone contacts being difficult to navigate (however careful you may be when swiping the list, accidentally touching a contact for too long opens it, and when you press "Back" it takes you to the top of the list... this is rubbish!! I have about 300 contacts on my phone. On upgrading to 6.5 I now have a new "Contacts" icon in the start menu, which is obviously a different app. Its far more user friendly, better layout for my 50 yr old eyes and doesn't have the same issue of going "back", as pressing the "X" takes you back to where you were in the list. Is there any way you can use this as the default app for contacts in the phone menu?

text message DELAY option on the NOTE 4?????

I was wondering if anyone knew a way i could use the text message delay option on the NOTE 4.. like on the Note 3 (JoshBeach ROM)
I'm not 100% sure, but don't think stock messaging app has that option. easiest fix would be to use a 3rd party sms app. I'd recommend handcent sms, you can choose your delay time. Hope this helps. Also, just a friendly fyi, but ?s should go in the Q&A section.

Ok you can "SCHEDULE" a message if that is what you mean.
Open the messaging app. Open the contact you want to message and type the message out. After you type the message hit the 3 dots in the top right corner of your screen. Then you can select schedule message for any time to be delivered. I hope this helps a lil.
text message delay
I meant when you send a text it will count down for 5,3,10 seconds before it actually goes thru and u can stop it if you misspell or send to the wrong person... Im just trying not to send the wrong message it was cool on my NOTE 3 Rom....
i use chompsms, which is free (ad-supported) from google play. it lets you do the delay you're looking for. here's a screenshot.

Stock Samsung Messages App

I have just started using the Samsung Stock Messages app for SMS, coming from Textra.
I noticed that when I hit compose and enter a contact name, it shows all the phone numbers for that person. It doesnt even show which are mobile and which are not.
On Textra it labeled the numbers, and it also had an option to only show Mobile numbers.
Is there any way to do this on the Messages app? Its really confusing as I cant always tell which is even the right number to select for a text message to a contact...seems weird.
Thanks.

It does show mobile and other like work etc for me, open the messages app > contacts tab at the bottom > select contact > if contact has more than one number saved a pop-up appears with names of different numbers shown
Thanks for the reply. I feel like I am missing something as this process is so cumbersome for me that it almost doesnt make sense...
1 - in Textra and others, I hit the compose text button and start typing a name. it then immediately will show any associated numbers with labels so you can see which is the mobile, which is the home, etc. in this stock app I just see the contact name with a bunch of numbers. and if I hit one, it doesnt bring up any sort of window with all the labels.
2- following your directions, if I first go to the contacts tab (already an extra step) I see along list of all of my contact names. There is a search button, but if I hit that and type a contact, I again see an unlabeled list of numbers.
3 - if I manually scroll down the entire list until I find my contact, then when I press it I see a pop up with labels.
Any which way this is a LOT of steps to compose a text message - seems like it doesnt make sense. there is no more streamlined way?

Not that I know of, this is why there are 3rd party apps with a lot more time and attention gone into adding features over stock, personally I just leave conversations in my messages app so I can open and text direct from there, only the first ever message you send them you have to perform those steps
Why not just stick with Textra?
Great question!
Sadly, something is screwed up with AT&T, my Galaxy S9 and text messaging.
Several weeks ago, I started having an issue where I am sporadically not getting random texts. They just never appear - and then people are wondering why I didnt reply. To troubleshoot this, I went to the AT&T portal and checked the log of text messages...the missing messages are never even hitting my AT&T number, so it seems this is not an app issue.
AT&T has so far been useless in diagnosing this. But googling around, I have noticed that a number of people have had this issue and it seems AT&T's "Advanced Messaging" feature is a possible culprit. There have been reports that deactivating this has solved the issue for some users.
Unfortunately the only way to deactivate this that I have uncovered is through the stock app. And if I deactivate this in the stock app and then switch to another app like Textra, it is getting turned on again automatically. I have not discovered any way to keep this deactivated while using a 3rd party SMS app.
Crazy but tragically seems to be the case...very frustrating.

There is an app called "Package Disabler Pro" which allows without root, the disabling of system packages, if you know what the advanced messaging package is called, you might be able to permanently disable it without having to have the stock SMS app as default, perhaps disabling the Samsung stock SMS app would also do it (Just read here that Disabling the messages app on the S10+ allows Textra to work)
https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys10/comments/blcs1b/textra_no_sent_messages_only_received_messages/
Contacting the Textra dev would be a good idea too, ask them to add the feature you need into textra
I am also seeing another method that may disable it, by disabling VoLTE
https://textra.uservoice.com/knowle...80-t-mobile-at-t-verizon-missing-messages-rcs
Looks like that is for T-Mobile but worth a shot, if AM uses VoLTE it should kill it
