Is it impossible to change the boot animation on my phone if I just have stock rooted?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
When your device is rooted, it is always possible to do it.
Just get the new bootanimation.zip, rename it to the same as what you have in system/customize/resource, usually hTC_bootup_one.zip.
Then you use a root explorer to replace that with the new one, put the right permission to it, reboot... you will have a new one.
Just a question ck, how to know which app requires which permissions?
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
All apps and files require a right permission to be functional.
A regular file, the permission is ---rwxr-x
But the system files mostly are rw-r--r--
and most files in bin/xbin are rwxr-xr-x
and some are totally different. This usually is set in the updater-script when we first install a ROM.
I replaced the boot animation with a custom one. I even changed the ownership and permissions to match the original boot animation but still shows the original. Is this original boot animation cached somewhere?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
The original boot animation is hTC_bootup_one.zip, so the custom one must be renamed the same.
Yes. I renamed it the same and even moved the original out of that directory. Still boots with original.

Go to system/customize/CID then open the default.xml with a text editor.
Does it say something like this ?
Code:
<BootConfiguration>
<BootAnimation animation="/system/customize/resource/hTC_bootup_one.zip" audio="/system/customize/resource/htc_boot.mp3" />
</BootConfiguration>
Wow. Thanks so much. That helped. Oddly it was SPCVM_bootanimation.zip
Works now. Thank you.

I'm still curious to why there was also a file called hTC_bootup_one.zip
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
I guess the hTC_bootup_one.zip is the original HTC bootanimation and
SPCVM_bootanimation.zip is the customized bootanimation for VM.

Can someone guide me the steps to uninstall rommanager.cynogen mod 7.0.3
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You can use the Titanumi Backup(root) to uninstall the app brings from the rom.
Or use the Root Explorer to delete the *.apk (I don't know it's full name) from system/app.

If your s-off. You can simply remove the app from the zip file before you flash it. Or do it through fastboot.

I've done it in such way.
1. Using Titanium backup I've performed backup of all the necessary applications, phonebook, sms, etc.
2. Removed RomManager from ROM'zip file
3. Flash it. (You should turn off signature verification before flashing modified ROM'zip files)
As far as i understand, rom manager is not installed in /system/app, but in /data/app.
So this guide might help you:

You should flash it via recovery. Install zip from ad card and then choose the zip file. I just installed it.

Well first you need to unlock and root it, without that you can't flash zips

I just got a HTC One X on vodafone and its on the latest firmware with sense 4.1 that was released a few days ago. Is there anyway to root it or should I wait for people to come up with a way?
Unlock your bootloader with htcdev.com, flash a custom recovery (like clockworkmod). Flash superuser in recovery or flash a custom Rom which comes pre rooted. Job done

Is there a way I can root without losing all my user data and apps from unlocking the bootloader?
If you do a search on here there is a way to back up before unlocking your bootloader, I don't know how to do it myself as I just re set everything after unlocking

Was that a joke? That didn't help at me all, can you give a more descriptive answer. /system then what? Sorry no thanks for you.
Honestly, the simplest solution would be to save the wallpapers on your sd card, then apply one through your picture browser.
If you need them as .zip files, try here
