You need a custom recovery to install the needed zip files.

Did you install a recovery ??
If yes
Boot into bootloader
Go into fastboot
Flash kiss kernel by typing fastboot flash boot boot.img(optional but recommended )
Then go into recovery
Install zip from sd card
And select the Rom and you will go into a installation process (aroma installer)
Then just wait for the phone to boot

HELP!!BootLoops after installing custom ROMs in s-off incredible 2

Hi
I recently managed to get 2.3.3 and s-off using tacoroot revolutionary method. But whenever I try to flash a custom rom using CWM or 4ext recovery, the phone gets in bootloops.
Here are the steps I performed to flash the firmwares-Kindly tell if I am missing something.
Downloaded and copied the firmwares to sd card(checked md5sum too wherever applicable).
Cleared cache,dalvik
Chose install zip from sd card and selected and flashed.
installation goes well.Phone boots but after getting into homescreen,it turns off itself and restart again(it happened with ViperINC and no homescreen at all ,just bootloops and finally gets into recovery with Unofficial Multilang MIUI4 - v 2.11.30 (CDMA + GSM) )
Please guide.:crying:

Firstly, if u want to come back to stock rom later, flash a recovery(i suggest twrp 2.4.0.0) and make a backup of stock rom. Then, flash a suitable kernel via fastboot(u can find suitable kernel on the rom's thread) and simply flash the rom and gapps via recovery after a full wipe....
See this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996665
Firstly install recovery and make backup after that flash kernel then rom... u just follow the above link, u ll get it...
Hit thanks if I helped u!!!
put your pacman rom in sd card
http://cyano-rob.tuennerhoff-edv.de/RECOVERY/CWM/GSM/recovery.img download this and save it into fastboot folder (folder from you have rooted your htc one v in pc)
Reboot into hboot
then fastboot
then connect usb cable to Htc one v
open command type the following command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
for kernel you have to install suitable kernel which supports the rom (save kernel in fastboot folder )
type following cmd in command prompt
-fastboot flash boot boot.img
then go back to Hboot
select recovery
-delete all user data wipe data /factory reset
-install zip from sd card
browse pacman rom and install it
then flash the Gapps (gapps are there in pacman's rom thread you can install it as same as the installing rom)
then reboot simply!
enjoy
wht is gapps nd y i shud intsall it?
wht is gapps nd y i shud intsall it?
Playstore, gmail, google now etc. Are included in gapps..... its approx. 90 mb zip and u have to jst flash it.... u will get the link on rom’s thread....

I guess you have cwm recovery. This is a known issue with with cwm.
To install , manually go in recovery, install zip from sdcard, navigate to downloads folder and you will find venom update 3.3.8.zip
flash it.
OR
you can twrp recovery which will automatically update viperX.
NOTE: 3.4.0 was released which is a full ROM. i recommend you flash that(after a nandroid ofcourse)

Yes I had the same issue. Also wouldn't work manually from the zip either.
TWRP recovery worked like a charm for me and personally I feel it's a better recovery.

Can i flash TWRP straight into recovery?
Just flash it like any other recovery
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
It will override the old recovery

[Q] Delete recovery (TWRP and CWM)

Hi guys!
I want to install CyanogenMod 11.0 on my HTC One X.
I had already installed TWRP (v. 2.4) and did not know how to uninstall it, so I installed the CWM over TWRP. Bad idea.
I installed CWM using ROM Manager, but it did not work very well. When I reboot into recovery I'm going to TWRP and not for CWM..
A mess!
So I wanted to erase both recoverys and install stock recovery, then install the correct recovery-6.0.4.5-endeavoru.img (The recovery .img for CyanogenMod 11.0).
Is that the correct way to proceed?
Is it possible to provide me a tutorial on how to delete the two recoverys and install the recovery sotck? Pls
Thanks guys!
You dont delete a recovery, just flash it via fastboot.
Ditch rommanager, it's useless !
Yes ROM Manager is useless.. but as seen here on Wiki: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery I thought it would work..
So you suggest to flash the "recovery-6.0.4.5-endeavoru.img" via fastboot?
And what about the other recoverys? Are automatically deleted?
Thanks Mr Hofs for support!
Yes via fastboot the old recovery gets completely overwritten by the new one.
Nice! Thanks!

%i'm not responsible for any harm%
Just backup the rom trough a custom recovery, backup userdata on the pc.
download the new rom (zip) and place it on your phone, unpack the boot.img on your pc,
go in to bootloader (fastboot), and check if you can connect to it using the fastboot toolchain. (fastboot devices)
only if the commandline returns your device, continue
go in your custom recovery, and wipe system, data and cache.
then install the zip with the new rom.
then return to the bootloader, and flash the unpacked boot image by running the command: fastboot flash boot boot.img(path to your boot.img)
good luck
