[Q] Vemon Viper x Won't update - HTC One X

Hi everyone,
I have flashed the vemon viper x 3.3.7 successfully onto my htc one x s-on but it wont update to 3.3.8. It downloads onto my phone through the software updates setting but when it is installing it bounces onto the recovery and the recovery starts installing but it aborted. How do i get around this to install the update??

Which recovery do u have?

I guess you have cwm recovery. This is a known issue with with cwm.
To install , manually go in recovery, install zip from sdcard, navigate to downloads folder and you will find venom update 3.3.8.zip
flash it.
OR
you can twrp recovery which will automatically update viperX.
NOTE: 3.4.0 was released which is a full ROM. i recommend you flash that(after a nandroid ofcourse)

Yes I had the same issue. Also wouldn't work manually from the zip either.
TWRP recovery worked like a charm for me and personally I feel it's a better recovery.

Can i flash TWRP straight into recovery?

Just flash it like any other recovery
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
It will override the old recovery

if you have s-off you can just flash the recovery image file from fastboot
Use unrevoked to flash it.
You're using fake-flash to run the latest one (or the crap ROM Manager) - as said either run unrEVOked again or, if S-OFF, flash it manually

yes flashing a rom for the one xl is the same as flashing a rom which is intended for a samsung or sony phone, it's a completely different phone so won't work!
firstly you need a different recovery, get philz touch recovery and flash it, that will solve the touchscreen problem.
Now do a full wipe from recovery, data, system, cache and sdcard.
load another rom onto sdcard.
flash the boot.img from the rom and then do the command "fastboot erase cache". This is very important and may possibly be why magio wouldn't boot
now flash the rom and enjoy.

Now your device restored 4.1.1 rom ? If so flash Philz_Touch recovery then install the OTA.zip via recovery, after that flash boot.img from OTA, then fastboot erase cache > reboot.

[Q] Delete recovery (TWRP and CWM)

Hi guys!
I want to install CyanogenMod 11.0 on my HTC One X.
I had already installed TWRP (v. 2.4) and did not know how to uninstall it, so I installed the CWM over TWRP. Bad idea.
I installed CWM using ROM Manager, but it did not work very well. When I reboot into recovery I'm going to TWRP and not for CWM..
A mess!
So I wanted to erase both recoverys and install stock recovery, then install the correct recovery-6.0.4.5-endeavoru.img (The recovery .img for CyanogenMod 11.0).
Is that the correct way to proceed?
Is it possible to provide me a tutorial on how to delete the two recoverys and install the recovery sotck? Pls
Thanks guys!
You dont delete a recovery, just flash it via fastboot.
Ditch rommanager, it's useless !
Yes ROM Manager is useless.. but as seen here on Wiki: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery I thought it would work..
So you suggest to flash the "recovery-6.0.4.5-endeavoru.img" via fastboot?
And what about the other recoverys? Are automatically deleted?
Thanks Mr Hofs for support!
Yes via fastboot the old recovery gets completely overwritten by the new one.
Nice! Thanks!

Unable to update recovery

After a long string of flashing failures with this device, I'm needing to update the recovery.
Unfortunately after it let me downgrade the recovery, no matter what recovery I flash (CWM latest or TWM) for the HTC One X, the god damn older version is still there.
I've tried updating it through One X One Click and CWM itself. But I have no idea what's going wrong or what's needed to be done.
[Edit]
Okay, it seemed to install with no errors this time.
Now I just have to figure out why the heck it always displays "HTC quietly brilliant" forever.

so, which recovery did you install? which rom are you trying to install?
Recovery. Img is to be flashed through fastboot and not in recovery itself
Go in your fastboot folder
Open cmd there and give commands
Fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
Fastboot erase cache
And you're good to go

Hello,
I have the same problem;
I was on recovery CMW 6.0.4.4. I tried to update to 6.0.4.5 or philz. Fastboot says okay after install, but when I restart to recovery, recovery is still 6.0.4.4.
What I haven't done is erase cache. Could this be it? Cannot try for the moment because I'm at work.
Thanks

yes, it might be... try to flash again recovery and to erase cache after OKAY message...
I tried it again with fastboot and than erase cache : doesn't work
Than I copied the recovery zip file to sdcard and installed it through clockworkmod recovery 6.0.4.4. Everything installed ok but when I reboot recovery it is still 6.0.4.4?
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
The zip is of no use, the recovery.img has to be flashed via fastboot (s-on devices have no other choice) try to flash a different recovery to check that works. Maybe the recovery is a bad download
I've found the solution.
It was a problem with my fastboot extension.
Thanks anyway

HTC M9W stuck in boot loop - After supersu install via twrp

I have my phone unlocked bootloader, s-off as it shows in the pick, then went to root using twrp with multpile supersu versions and non of them work, all 3 I tried even after full wipes over and over again keep booting me into the HTC logo screen non stop. Any advice?
Flash a custom rom for ex. Viper or maximus hd. If you full wipe you have no os installed. Flash a rom via twrp. Roms are already rooted

So I dont have to root the phone first? Thank you for helping!
Flash latest twrp. Copy rom file to sdcard. Then flash it via recovery. Download a rom
