HTC one x quad core

I had a samsung galaxy s 2 dual core and now i have the htc one x quad core, but i can't see the difference in speed, is it normal ?
out of curiosity: does it lag on live wallpapers? can u try?
It's perfectly normal, and something I've been warning people about for a long time now. SG2 had a dual core 1.5 GHz processor, One X has a quad core 1.5 GHz processor. Having 2 more cores does not mean that the One X is twice as fast, just that it's twice as strong. There's a big difference.
Read all the way through this thread discussing the positive/negatives of dual core vs quad core processors. I spent a lot of time there trying to dispel a lot of the ignorance surrounding the science behind what makes a processor faster/stronger than the next.

No, the techno-illiterate keep spreading this myth that more cores equals faster speeds. It's just not true.
It can do more things at once versus a dual core CPU, but if it's at the same Cortex class and clocked to the same speed, it's not going to be any faster.
+1 watch the video of the galaxy nexus vs the one x phone arena did, it is embarrassing how awesome the nexus looks compared to the one x.
Honestly the dual core versions with the s4 are better performers for the reason stated, better cortex and smaller nm. It also means for better battery efficiency.

Just to knit pick a tad, the SGS2 (international, ATT, T-Mobile versions) had a 1.2GHz dual core where the Skyrocket variant had the 1.5GHz

Ah, I'd assumed OP had the skyrocket, else he might've noticed a slight speed increase.
I don't think the OP has EITHER phone. He's making so many post on which to buy , which means he hasn't got it? He's also saying he has a Sensation and XL... he has that many phones?

Much like PCs, the move from single to dual core showed immense promise. However, the move from dual to quad can appear very, very underwhelming.
You really have to have applications that are programmed for the architecture of your processor. Otherwise, the benefit is bragging rights, and even then, who wants to be that guy...
The gs2's touchwiz is just better built software. While not absent lag, it's the least laggy android skin.
I prefer Galaxy S II because it is more powerful in my option.
I never had a HTC phone but i think i'll take a shot some day!

I'm sorry but that's just your opinion, my missus has the s2 and many a times it lags and touchwiz is a horrible skin, I prefer sense 4 anyday. But that's just my opinion.

The lag is due to sence and not the hardware, I'm using nova launcher and live wallpapers are fine.

Also, live wallpapers need to be optimized. There can be a 25 core A15 at 5GHz and if the software does not fully support the capabilities of the CPU, it's gonna lag.

(Article) SGS3 will be dual core for US versions

Needless to say Im beyond pissed off when i read this article. Now its actually confirmed true.

Your comparing apples to oranges...Going from our Exynos Dual core to a snapdragon Dual core just doesnt warrant a upgrade.
Single 1ghz > Dual 1.2ghz= Upgrade
Dual 1.2ghz > Quad 1.4ghz= Upgrade
Dual 1.2ghz > Dual 1.5ghz= No way
Why blow the cash??? The SGS3 is basically just the SGS2 with a somewhat faster dual core processor. Somewhat better screen (Still a Pentile) and a bigger battery (300mah bigger). And a few new software pieces.
This is equivent to going from iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S. Total waste.

No need for another dual core versus quad core thread. Everyone knows the S4 kicks ass...it's just initial benchmarks for the quad core exynos seems to kick more ass, especially where gpu is concerned. I personally don't care if the phone has a dual core or quad core...but if it has a slower chip than its international siblings, then that's lame...

S4 vs Quadcore Why S4 is better
The only place where the quad core wins at is the gpu. The processors are about equal.

Exactly. The Qualcomm S4 MSM8960 supports newer and better technologies than the Exynos processors. Overall, all tasks and functions will be the latest version and faster than Exynos.
Here's a list:
BT 4.0
802.11a/b/g/n (2.4/5GHz)
GSM (GPRS, EDGE)
W-CDMA/UMTS (HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, DC-HSPA+ cat.28)
MBMS
LTE cat.3
CDMA2000 (1xRTT, 1xEV-DO Rel.0/Rev.A/Rev.B, 1xEV-DO MC Rev.A)
TD-SCDMA
There's a reason people who render large files chose Intel processors over AMD. It's not just about cores and clocks.

Isnt the quad core supposed to save like 30 more battery?or something along those lines?

I welcome this change, maybe the radios will be better and AGPS will actually perform worth a damn.
seems like another reason to jump back to HTC
With all this debate over why the sgs3 should be quad-core, I have one question..
What benefits would every day users see from the extra cores? How many people run lets say 12+ apps, switching between and using all of them?
I am personally happy with the sgs3 containing the s4. Quad core doesnt make the cpu the greatest. My Amd phenom x2 3.0 ghz beats out a number of quad cores.. I know its not a mobile cpu, but the same would apply to mobile phones. Quality over quantity.

It was also suppose to have a 4.6 super amoled plus hd screen at 1280 x 1080 2.0 ghz quadcore lte equipped with a unicorn ='( I read the fake specs so many times lol well maybe other variants than sprint get snapdragon and we get A15? I can pray!
With the A15 architecture and a better display lets hope it runs smoother then the 3D did. Well of course it will.
For me it doesnt matter if we will have dc instead qc..but pentile must be replaced by superamoled hd plus..

[Q] Running single core or dual core?

Hi all,
I have a question here.
As the voltage for running a core and four core at 1.6ghz is the same, is it ok to lower it t 1ghz so that it save more juice and it will normally running at dual core. Is it OK to do so?
What's your opinion?

Why run single core or dual core on a great and efficient quad core beast? It won't really make a difference in battery life because then the cpu's would be under more strain than usual. Although it MIGHT save battery, but not THAT much. Underclocking and undervolting is still probably the best solution you can do if you want even more battery life. But do utilize all 4 cores of this device.

Omg?! Single core use more battery than quad core? I turn it to 1.6ghz single core and move the page up down so.that the CPU is always 100%. And I turned the quad core and do the same things. And realized that the power used is double for single core.

mali 450 gpu-note 3

This Is no good guys, it looks like snapdragon 800 is our future chip. The note 3 will use an outdated gpu, not capable of open gl 3.0. This is huge news and a huge disappointment. My note 2 will be my last note if this is true.
The note 3 will use the octa core exynos not snapdragon 800. I agree on tje Mali 450. They should use something else since it isn't 3.0

Does Note 3 Neo has 3Ghz processor?

I wanted to buy a new phone. i saw the note 3 neo so i went to GSM ARENA.COM for the specs so i found that they wrote in the processor section:1.3 Quad Core and 1.7 Dual core. I wanted to know. Does it have 3Ghz processor and Hexa core? Or a model has the 1.3 and the other has the 1.7 ?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA premium
It has hexa core (6 cores) processor.. Quad corr (4 cores) of 1.3GHz plus Dual core (2 cores) of 1.7GHz so basically it has 6 cores.. 4 of which are clocked at 1.3GHz and 2 of them are clocked at 1.7GHz
Hope this helps

It's actually the big.LITTLE technology developed by ARM where you combine power hungry strong processors with power efficient weak processor and give the device the capability to use all processors at the same time. The two cores of A15 clocked at 1.7 GHz and 4 cores of A7 clocked at 1.3 GHz are for the same purpose.
An example can be when you are say loading a page, A15 is called. After page is loaded and things have rendered, processing is shifted to A7, while scrolling the page ans stuff that require less processing.
@maxzeroedge good detailed explanation mate
