Since I have a broken phone..... - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

and it is going to be returned, is there anything anyone wants to try or experiment with before it goes back? this phone has a wiped IMEI or a fried modem, don't exactly know which. its probably a little more complicated than that because, it doesn't do A LOT of things it is supposed to do besides no cell service.

Does it have to go back intact? Would love to see what a .223 round might do, lol. Just kidding, but hey you asked....

i tried searching but i have no idea what i could possibly be. i have a 8525 att branded with farias wm 6.1 ROM loaded along with the touchflo cube(just loaded today). anyways i was using wifi and recieved a call at the same time which usually seems insignificant but now the phone is doing nothing. no charging light no sounds no nothing. i thought it might be the screens flex cable at first but mabye a fried processer. ill admit i have some knowlege but not nearly enough i tried a hard reset but nothing...any help would be greatly appreciated.
hmm
Weird thing, but look at this post...
so basically attempt a reflash? mabye im just not thinking correctly but dont you need some form of life to perform one. i get no start up screens. so i cant get into the bootloader...or can i flash possibly without that. im on vacation at the moment so i wont get a chance to try anything computer based untill probably next week...thank you and thanks in advance for anything else.

[Q] Need help, I have a brick

Hi there...
So I have a slight issue. I've been away from the XDA community for a while now, and anyways, I came back and wanted to upgrade into the latest Fresh 3.5.0.1 Rom. So I downloaded it, new radios, and new pri pack, and put it on and went to work. Now that I'm here at work, I flashed 3.5, the new radios, and the new pri. Rebooted (I think I probably should have rebooted after flashing the rom, before loading up the others :-\). I got the wonderful green error arrow thing. I've had this happen before when flashing roms, so I pulled the battery, waited a few minutes, then put it back in. Pushed the power button, and now I have a brick. It won't power up at all.
So I need help, as I've never had a brick before and I'm stuck here at work, working on my mac laptop. Any advice on how to get the phone to start into recovery so I can nandroid backup would be wonderful.
Edit: I was upgrading from Fresh Evo 3.3.0.1. According to Fresh, I should have been able to flash this rom over my old version. :-\
Does anything happen when you try and power on? Ie does the phone vibrate and do anything at all? Also when you plug the phone on does the charging lite come on? I hate to say this but if you answer no to everything it looks like you may have a brick. But there is always hope.
I could be wrong but I think toy were suppose to boot the rom then flash the radios.

No light with charging, not even the most faint bit of vibrating other than my own pulse I do have insurance on the phone however through Asurion or however you spell it.
Also, I was going to delete this thread before you posted here, as I realized too late that this isn't the question forum
Wrong forum maybe, but its already here so its all good. With what you said I would have to say you in fact have a brick unfortunately. I would work on trying to get a replacement from asuron. Sucks man, radios can be dangerous if something goes wrong in the process of flashing them.

I guess that's what I get for not being more active in the community >.>
Gonna check with Sprint during my lunch to see if they'll replace it for free as a defect ^.^
Sure would be nice not to have to pay that 100 dollar deductible.
Ya, unfortunately you probably pulled the battery while the radios were updating. Good thing you have insurance, because that Evo is done.
Why not take it to Sprint? Just say it stopped working. Make sure to delete any suspicious files from the SD card.

Wish the outcome was a little better!

flashing to boost mobile

my brother asked me if I could flash two phones from Sprint to Boost for someone at his work...is it hard to do, and how much do people normally charge for a service like that?
Yes if you have never done it before, its hard.
It depends on your abilities, if your unsure don't try it. You may end up creating 2 bricks for your brothers coworker.
On a side note, with the size of the phone it will definitely hold things still
I'll take AOKP anything

well it is a bit hard but it can be done. If you find it easy to root you shouldnt have too much trouble flashing
here is a guide
http:// androidforums .com/evo-4g-all-things-root/460035-evo-4g-boost-mobile-guide-evo-3d.html
i dont recommend paying someone because i have heard of people who get it done by someone else and when they're phone messes up its harder to determine the problem because you dont know what was done to the phone.

[Q] a possible brick .. help!!!!

ive asked a couple time on here before about this but all i ever get is smart remarks. i have a s3 that i have had rooted and put hell fire rom on it.idk if that has anything to do with the problem. i been running hell rom for about a month with no problems. and one day i wake up and my phone didnt cut on or nothing. i never droped it. so i know its not that. after messing with it for awhile i figured out that the phones led comes on when connected to a power source with out the battery in the phone. it will not do this with the battery in it. i have tryed booting into download mode. it never worked. im curious to think it is a battery issue. but i cant be sure. and before i waste my money on a battery it would be great to get some help on what to do or what the problem is..

yes. it didnt reconize it. but maybe im just missing somthing..
if you connect to your computer does it usb wizard come up saying "QHSUSB_DLOAD"?
my phone is in the same situation as yours right now. completely bricked
How is it even possible to get a complete brick by not flashing anything? Just wake up one morning and your phone doesn't turn on? Doesn't make any sense...
I have and the S1,2 &3 flashed 100's of ROMs and usually the only thing that can hard brick a Samsung is flashing a ROM/Kernel for another phone or a bad flash from ODIN.

im not here lien. honestly thats what happen.
If you think it could be a battery issue, try going to a local place that sells the phone and just ask if you could try a battery in your phone.

thats my plan. although i did ask walmart and they said no lol.
You did something that youre not telling us because things dont just break randomly, and/or without cause 99% of the time.
I dont help people that try to act like "i dont know what happened, it just magically stopped working maybe a unicorn tampered with the motherboard while i was asleep" kind of nonsense.
The guys on here are trying to help you and youre not giving any information at all. So go and waste your money and buy batteries, service calls from a repair center.
But "i dont know maybe im missing something", and "i dont know what happened" is not an acceptable response from someone seeking help.
So go ahead and pulll out all the four letter words and insults, but until you start to pony up some good information your phone will be dead, and you can begin preparing it for its next stage of "life" which would be a desk decoration or christmas tree ornament

[Q] SGH-I747M No Longer Connecting To Network After Unlock

Hi everyone,
So earlier today I was standing in Walmart when my phone froze and I restarted it, after booting up it indicated that the Public Mobile network was unavailable, since then I've been unable to connect to any networks. I can scan for networks, select public mobile, it sits there for five minutes trying to connect and then says "Please Try Again Later".
Now a couple of months ago I had my phone unlocked by a local place, they initially did a bad update because my WiFi stopped working, and then I noticed that they put a Rogers Firmware onto my phone which originally comes from Telus. Could this pose an issue ?.
I've also noticed that my IMEI number on the back of the phone is completely different from what is on screen. What can I do to get my phone working again or am I f***d ? I have no experience rooting or flashing my phone but if someone could walk me through it that would be awesome.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy SIII (SGH-I747M) Telus, running android 4.4.2
Thanks !
You could try re-injecting the original IMEI using nvwriter.

Thanks, I tried following the steps but couldn't figure it out, I don't have the original IMEI number backed up, but I do have it, is there a way I can go in and change it ? When I tried to use nvwriter it tells me my phone isn't responding.
Oh boy.......I'd go to wherever you had it serviced and find out exactly what they did. Sounds kind of like they put a different motherboard in and did not tell you. They probably did something to really screw up the original but didnt want to admit it or pay for it, so they gave you whatever they had on hand. This just a guess of course, but it would explain the firmware and the IMEI being different. You shouldn't be able to flash the Rogers firmware on any other carriers device or vice versa. So I find all of that extremely suspicious.
Check the IMEI's to see if they're blacklisted. (Im worried the one you see in settings will turn up to be so....hopefully not).
Do not try to change the IMEI though. If my suspicions are correct, it means the one its using is the one belonging to that board. Not only does changing the IMEI often cause a lot of ither issues, it is also almost always illegal.
***(And just fyi, be careful posting the tools or instructions for doing so, is against XDA rules. Same for just about every forum on the net.)
Even if all of that were not anything to be concerned about, you have to consider that if they did swap your motherboard, they may have fixed it later and now someone else has it with that IMEI. If you put it on your device, and both are seen on the network with the same one, it'll get blacklisted.
I really hope I am wrong....I really really do. But if I am not, i don't know if you will be able to do much without more info from whoever worked on it.
I am sorry btw, Im not trying to scare you about it, that's just what I see as the most likely scenario based on the info provided. Like I said, I could be wrong.

Thanks, I just took it back to the place that serviced it. They said to leave it with them for an hour or so and I should be good, didn't sound like he's going to charge me anything either since he remembered when I was in last and he said he had to reinstall the OS. So fingers crossed, otherwise I'm just going to grab a new Moto G to use with my network. I'm kind of over the SIII anyhow, so if its not fixable its not the end of the world, still sucks nonetheless lol
