I only just got round to playing the dark knight. Noticed the left hand side of screen (when in landscape) got very very warm-where the virtual control stick is... anyone notice this? Is it normal ? Dont want to damage the phone..

my phone seems to heat up what ever i do, i suppose because of how powerful the device is and toe perform when playing games it'll have to heat up, can't expect plastic to keep the heat in tbh, i do get worried, hopefully it's nothing to get too worried about
yeah, mine warms up during other game,s probably because of the screen staying on, but the batman game was excessively warm, and only on the top half (portrait) / left hand half (landscape). haven't played since ,as don't want irreparable damage.
Yeah, thats a quad core without cooling fan:banghead:

Well,i noticed some odd behavior the other day with my phone laying on my desk at work. It was completely unresponsive. So I was just fooling around, laying the phone on my bed, same thing. I realized that unless my other hand is touching the phone, the screen is unresponsive. Think this is some sort of grounding issue? It isn't a big deal, but I have never had this problem on other phones. Anyone else have this problem? Try sitting it flat on a desk without touching the body of the phone and see if the touch screen functions.

Dont quote me on this but i read on how touch screens work and it basicly like you said the screen has a charge and when you touch it it slightly changes the charge and thats how the cpu monitors the change and tells the screen to act the way it does. But i am not sure why the screen gets less responsive when your not holding it in your hand. It happens with my G2 and my G1 so nothing new but maybe some one can actually explain what is going on.
Fear the static
The answer is quite simple; it's cooler outside so there is less humidity in the air. With lower humidity you have a higher static charge on your body (hence why you can zap someone more easily in the winter than the summer). Since the screen is capacitive (relies on small changes in the charge on the top surface to know where you are touching it) and you have a larger charge on your body, the digitizer sees it more like you bringing three or four fingers in close proximity to one spot. The reason putting both hands on it works is because you now give the digitizer a reference charge to distinguish and ignore.
TL;DR - Winter static makes screen think you are ham-fisting it.
Solution - use hand lotion to help dissipate your body's static charge from your fingertips, just don't use so much that you end up leaving greasy streaks on your screen. If you do, wipe the excess off of your hands with paper towels until you don't have lint tracks in your hand, TP is good for this.

Makes sense. Weird I never noticed before. Good deal.

I can confirm this "issue" or behavoir. It happened to my phone exactly like u described. I dont know if this is a common thing for capacitive devices or not but it does happen to me.
Oh well, i guess i should stop being lazy and pick up my phone lol.

I 2nd that statement and a +1 on solution with lotion! lol
Now i will begin to tell my gf how the Screen isnt HEAT sensitive and why during the winter time with cold hands it responds differently.
i did notice this behavior the other day, and to be perfectly honest it scared the tar out of me, but then as soon as i picked the phone up it was fine again. i guess you really do learn something new every day, i always thought the capacitive screen reacted to heat, but i guess not.

****, do I have to go buy hand lotion now? Anyway, thanks a lot.
Does all capasitive screens react like this are some phones just more prone to it?
Hey guys I have installed Battery Monitor and my phone is reporting too high temperatures when browsing internet - 42° C.
I played Qosmos on charger and temperature was 47°C. I am really disappointed with battery solution of HOX.
so, what are dangerous temperatures for our phone? I saw someone reported 55.. doest it damage battery?

yep most likely caused by overheat
50 and the clocks go down, 70 and the phone shuts itself off. My temps are basicly always +50 if im playing something or the phone is charging. Playing and charging rises the temps anywhere between 50 and 70... Just recovered from overheating shutdown, so yeah, overheating is indeed present with the ONE X...
Even browsing it gets hot, seems that stock browser heats more than dolphin, but I have to test it further. Temp+CPU shows 40C.

did you notice any gap between screen and metal lining on left side? some people said overheat may cause gap on it..

Now that you should mention it, i can definitely fit my fingernail between the body and the screen glass without any forcing or anything, resulting the case bending and it feels quite as i could just snap the glass off anytime i wanted. The glass also makes creaking noises, especially the bottom part. Scary stuff. Both sides of the screen and bottom corners show some flexing (disortion on the screen when medium pressure is applied) as well.
Beginning to reconsider whether my HOX is pristine or not, or could even the design of the model be flawed.
Good thing there is such thing as warranty.

yes it will be hard to put our hands on this
screen flex is associated with temps, its just not happening to all people depending on their usage and the state it come with out of box
if its hardware trait i can live with it but i prefer to have the flex on top of the screen rather than the sides lol
ill order HOX with screen flex on top lol
I was playing two flash videos yesterday on 3G and some surfing which was about 20 mins my battery before surfing was 40% by the time I realise how hot my phone was it dropped to 11%!!!!
I began to feel the phone get hot on both screen and back was so hot it almost burnt my finger. I understand T3 can get hot but not to the point of temperate of a hot kettle.
Setting the governor to Powersave only uses 2 CPU and save heat by alot even playing games. I use conservative, only uses 2 CPU mostly and its similar to on demand

i had this defect out of box on my first HOX never knew if it was caused by overheat but definitely it was imperfect out of box then screen was so loose you feel you want to pull it out
now ill test the new one which has no lamination imperfections so far
slowly though ill let the glue settle for a week first before starting the heavy stuff

good luck hamdir.. i read some of your post/comment regarding build quality and all this issue.. personally i think it take a lot of hope and belief that you'll get exactly what you want.. mine has gap as well but not so serious.. i think i can live with that and as long as it not getting widen.. except for this and some screen flex, my HOX has no problem..

CPU temperatuur
Is it also possible to measure the cpu temperature? I can only find the battery temperature. The highest temperature I measured was around 45* degrees. Sometimes the phone gets very hot in the right top corner. I have noticed at the left side of the phone there's a little gap, not so big that I could put my finger nail into it, but big enough for dust. At the top the gap between and the body is big enough for me to put my fingernail between the body and the screen, as far as I know that gap was there when I get the phone.
Anyway, I'll stick to this phone, if no dust gets underneath the screen I'm happy the way it is! I love this phone very much!! can't live without it!
My phone seems to get hot. The highest has been over 50C but it gets to over 45C when just browsing the internet with stock browser and not plugged in. This is with the newest 1.29.402.11 firmware
Is this normal for this phone?
Hey guys has anybody else's touchscreen were it curves at the bottom randomly became unresponsive? As well as the touch buttons? Mine seems to do it when I'm doing something intensive like Netflix and minecraft
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
That's because your CPU is being overrun by tasks and essentially "lags". Never happened to me while using Netflix however, can't say anything for Mine craft since I don't play it.

Not going to beat around the bush here. I've definitely had this problem. People using my phone have noticed it too. Happens whether the CPU is being bogged down or not. My theory is the that bottom of the screen is further away from the digitizer since the screen is curved. It curves upwards towards the bottom. Not sure if the actual OLED panel is curved.

Most of the time its just when ur phone is place on a soft surface and when u touch it the soft surface absorbs the shok and the phone dosent register ur touch. But if ur using ur hand ar when ur phone is on a hard table this dosent happen
It does happen when the phone is hot so its gotta be the CPU. I have v6 supercharger and the systemui set to always stay in memory is there a way to dedicate a percentage of my CPU to it just like 5% or less? I am rooted with cm9

I am really stuck on Dead Trigger. It is such a fun game. My only concern is that over time I might wear out my screen. I guess that sounds kinda dumb but is it possible?I try not to press down when playing as I know it's just a touch screen, but it's kinda hard especially when you're fighting off hordes of zombies. LOL. So I was just curious if there is a shelf life for this sort of thing? Will the screen have issues from being pressed in the same place over and over?
Maybe... But with the quality that phones have to be made with, if the screen did wear down, you should be able to get it replaced. Besides, it would probably take so long to do, that by then, you will probably have a whole new phone.
From my understanding, phones these days should be able to take a fair bit of abuse. I doubt you will have an issue tho

samsung hardware is pretty flimsy and their quality control is terrible if you've seen the horrible blotchy spots in low brightness.
As long as you don't press down so hard that colors change you should be fine
So.
Im going skiing in 2 weeks and im wondering is low temperature (below -10) going to damage my Note 2 in any way?

If we are to believe this video from CNET (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2xnWH724Ho) you should be safe.
You will be fine, else nordic countries would be top consumers in phones about 1/3rd of the year
I've been out for an hour a day for the last three days in below zero (F) weather. No problems to report! :good:

Thanks for share, but i will not carry my phone in my hand while skiing.. it will be in my pocket, and i suppose body temperature will affect it..
We will see tho..
One more thing im scared of is that, because of its size, i will have to carry it in a backpack.. Im hardcore skier , im skiing very fast.. There is slight chance of breaking it if i fall down But, then again, i can have some soft protection in my backpack, to prevent it from shattering

The official Samsung manual says this:
"Do not store your device in very hot or very cold areas. It is recommended to use your device at temperatures from 5 °C to 35 °C
• Your device can explode if left inside a closed vehicle, as the internal temperature can reach up to 80 °C.
• Do not expose your device to direct sunlight for extended periods of time (on the dashboard of a car, for example).
• Store the battery at temperatures from 0 °C to 45 °C."
Problems may come when you move between two extreme temperatures. ..due to sudden changes. ..ex. -10 degree Celsius to a room with heater at 35 Degree? ??.... the glass may crack
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
Yeah, I'm also thinking that the glass is what would be exposed if the temperature shifts abruptly. I cannot picture how the electronics would take damage from cold, it's usually the opposite, the colder the better operation.

Glass and temperature fluctuation is a big problem, but condensation inside the phone could damage the electronics and/or make it look like the device suffered water damage (via the color changing stickers they put in there).

Sounds silly but I put my phone in a zip lock bag before I come in from the cold. That way the condensation happens to the bag and not the phone. I do the same thing with my DSLR camera.

Yup. I was going to suggest one of those waterproof camera/phone bags but I have no experience with using them. I assumed they would avoid the problem of extreme condensation.

Keep in mind that very low temperatures can result in reduced battery capacity.
