Lower screen failure? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys has anybody else's touchscreen were it curves at the bottom randomly became unresponsive? As well as the touch buttons? Mine seems to do it when I'm doing something intensive like Netflix and minecraft
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA

That's because your CPU is being overrun by tasks and essentially "lags". Never happened to me while using Netflix however, can't say anything for Mine craft since I don't play it.

Not going to beat around the bush here. I've definitely had this problem. People using my phone have noticed it too. Happens whether the CPU is being bogged down or not. My theory is the that bottom of the screen is further away from the digitizer since the screen is curved. It curves upwards towards the bottom. Not sure if the actual OLED panel is curved.

Most of the time its just when ur phone is place on a soft surface and when u touch it the soft surface absorbs the shok and the phone dosent register ur touch. But if ur using ur hand ar when ur phone is on a hard table this dosent happen

It does happen when the phone is hot so its gotta be the CPU. I have v6 supercharger and the systemui set to always stay in memory is there a way to dedicate a percentage of my CPU to it just like 5% or less? I am rooted with cm9

[Q] What's Gone Wrong w/ My Screen?

This morning I woke up to find my phone dead off the charger. I plugged it in to charge and went back to sleep. I woke up later and powered it up. Then I noticed an odd discoloration in the lower right side of my screen. A quick load of a webpage with a white background and sure enough I had some large yellowish blob discoloring my beautiful display on my T-Mobile Galaxy S II.
I haven't had this phone for more than two months so I called T-Mobile and they quickly issued a warranty replacement (it's in the mail). So, I ask you, what's wrong with this picture and has anyone else seen this on their phone?
(see attached picture of my screen)
I haven't seen that. Good that they replaced it. My screen has a dead pixel...can't really see it because its at the status bar and the signal icon is right on top of it, but I'm going to try to get it replaced. Hopefully they do as I haven't paid my bill yet.

Whoa that is crazy looking. Sorry about your phone! Never sen that before.
Possibly extensive exposure to UV light. (Sun)
UV damages the organic light emitting diodes. Almost instantly upon exposure.
They manufacture the screen in such a way that prevents UV damage. If they didnt, just using it in a naturally lit room could rape your screen. But maybe yours is flawed.

I have no idea what caused that, but the first thing I thought of was how crt monitors would look like that when I left an unshielded speaker (magnet) nearby..and I think I just showed my age.

Best guess is that it was an inherent flaw in the LCD that came out after being bumped or dropped? Either way, handset insurance took care of it and T-Mob waived the fees because it was only a week or two old at the time. They shipped me a new one overnight and I sent them the bad one back...
Mine had similar problem. Something impacted the screen I guess. At one point I could see a dark line in the blob. Figured it was a crack. But mine grew until it consumed the whole screen.

phone while in the sauna

i workout everyday and i always see this guys using they phone inside the sauna, either to listen to music or ot txt...yesterday i saw a guy using our phone so i went up to him and ask if he ever had a problem and he said no....so here is my question....is it on to be using the phone to txt or listen to music while inside the dry sauna? i usually stay 15 minutes in and 5 minutes out, then repeat for a few times....i dont want to demage my phone...has anybody did this before?
I can just feel the mini bath comments coming on...
And I don't think anyone would ever recommend using your phone in a sauna.
I use to do it all the time with my old blackberry and eventually it stopped working and it was because of water damage. Im not sure if it was because of the sauna or the pool beside the sauna. Who knows. My advice - If you choose to use it in the sauna, just dont use it too frequently.

I try to keep my precious electronics away from extreme weather and humidity. I'm sure a few times or something wouldn't hurt, but better safe than sorry.
This is why I have a cracked ipod touch I care very little about lol
thanks guys, i think i have my awnser already...the thanks button was all activated

It would still be the same unless maybe in a vacuum sealed zip lock bag.

Your battery temp shouldnt get real hot. Your cpu can go to those temps but the environment may cause the cpu temp to exceed what is safe/normal. The way I see it, use setcpu and underclock to 800-1000 mhz max or so while youre in there and monitor your cpu and battery temp. If they get too warm, take it out!

While in the sauna I use bluetooth headphones. Leave my phone in the locker.
I used to always take nice long, hot showers with my old MyTouch 3g without incident. When I upgraded to the GSII, I did the same for a while. But then the phone started having some weird issues, the mic didn't work anymore, and when opened it up I noticed some condensation on the inside. Fortunately, the water-sensor stickers didn't get wet and I was able to warranty replace it at t-mobile.
I do it all the time to listen to music. I wrap my phone within a towel to absorb the moisture.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I agree - bag that bad boy to protect it from the moisture, don't stress the CPU and you should be okay.
Works for mini baths too!

I think people are confusing Sauna and Steam Room. You're fine using it in the sauna. If you REALLY want to be safe, just underclock it to minimum values so it won't over-heat.
The biggest question is, what are you doing in a dry sauna with all those naked men???

I use my phone in my sauna all the time. When I use the steam function I use a Ziploc bag with a paper towel in it to watch movies.

IDK if it is just me or not but this just doesn't seem like a good idea in general, although I do give you props for actually using something to absorb the condensation inside the bag. Even if you do manage to keep your phones internal components dry you are still risking overheating S**T especially inside a ziploc bag(kinda like an oven). I think it is much safer to leave it put up somewhere for awhile, I mean really can you guys not live without your phones for that long? LOL
As a T-Mobile rep I've run into numerous situations where customers have water damage without ever dropping it in water. In these situations a common thing would be leaving their phones on in the shower and the steam getting into the water indicator sticker.
Even if you don't damage your phone, you will still risk voiding the warranty.

Heat and humitity and electronics do not mix I would not recommend it just to be/safe

Batman dark knight game-hot screen

I only just got round to playing the dark knight. Noticed the left hand side of screen (when in landscape) got very very warm-where the virtual control stick is... anyone notice this? Is it normal ? Dont want to damage the phone..
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
my phone seems to heat up what ever i do, i suppose because of how powerful the device is and toe perform when playing games it'll have to heat up, can't expect plastic to keep the heat in tbh, i do get worried, hopefully it's nothing to get too worried about
yeah, mine warms up during other game,s probably because of the screen staying on, but the batman game was excessively warm, and only on the top half (portrait) / left hand half (landscape). haven't played since ,as don't want irreparable damage.

I haven't found a thing to complain about, yet, except for perhaps the screen could be a bit better (still not complaining) and I wish the native grid layout was 5-across instead of 4.
I'd lose the physical home button.
No physical keys. That's the only thing I'd change. It doesn't bother me at all though

In my experience, the only thing that screamed out at me was that the colors were overblown in the default mode. But the screen ends up looking pretty good once set to movie mode. I was a little concerned, at first, when I learned the subpixel layout wasn't standard RGB - I hate non-standard pixel layouts. It's close enough though - still three RGB subpixels per screen pixel, but it's RG over a long B. It sure beats the crap out of the pentile S3.
Out of curiosity, in what way would you make the screen better?
The one thing I'd change: cram a beefier GPU in there. Seems a little underpowered.
1080p screen would be nice concidering a lot of companies flagships are shipping with those now. Not sure if amoled's are capable of that res though

The fact that the glass is fairly susceptible to getting broken. Truthfully my girl put her phone down on the counter when she was cooking picked it back up and there was a crack from just above the volume rocker over to just below the power button. No hard hit or an uneven surface just cracked like a clean crack. No chips nothing. .. Good times eh?

Sorry, to hear about your girlfriends experience. Does anyone know if that is a common occurrence with the Note? Having the screen break easily?
32gb as the minimum option for the same price as the 16gb. Really, 16gb shouldn't even BE an option.

Same just happened to mine! I've never broke or scratched a screen or laptop in my life because I am OCD about taking care of my high end electronics. But I've had my Note 2 for less than a month and have already cracked the screen apparently. I didn't do ANYTHING to it... I just noticed there is a 1" crack in the middle today. It's hard to see and COULD be a scratch but my fingernail catches on it BAD and it distorts the LED light so... ATT suggested a screen protector to keep it from spreading. Putting one on tomorrow. I wonder if I could buff out the crack before I do???
One thing I would change? It's too round/slippery/heavy! It has shot out of my hand like 6 times (all on bed/couch thankfully) because its so heavy/wide that I must keep a tighter grip than usual and the stupid sides are actually slanted/rounded in a way that pressure makes the phone want to SHOOT out of my hand when a finger slips. Am I the only one who just cant hold on to this damn phone? A case is ESSENTIAL but, its just TOO big with my otterbox on it... For this alone, I am switching to the S4 which, actually has a squarish edge and a FIRM grip! What were they thinking making such a gigantic beast have NO grip???

Change the screen to 6 inch 1080p. Ok that's two.
More internal storage memory. Phones this big/expensive should only be 32/64gb not 16. Cause after OS etc we only get what.... 11?

Any way to calibrate screen touch on the 8.4?

Ever since I purchased this tablet it seems like the screen needs to be calibrated. It works great if whatever I am trying to touch is large enough but I has to constantly tough to the left a little on anything small. Is there any way to adjust this using the stock rom?
