You shouldn`t have accepted a phone with a broken seal in the first place. You never know what happened to it and it may be a repaired device. As you should have warranty just keep it for now and i hope you will enjoy your phone mate

just check the SN on the invoice, compare it to the box, and the number under your battery (on your note), if everything is the same, then it should be ok. i myself always use this method to buy my gadget, some people are eager to buy the newest stuff and after couple of weeks they regret it and sell it sometimes much lower than retail price, their 'mistakes' is my gain

Sending phone to repair service

So, I bought my phone from someone like 5 months ago, and it works fine except for two things. First the camera does not focuses on macro o close up pictures. It just doesn't, no matter what I try.
And secondly, something that started recently, the WiFi drops....even next to the router. I read somewhere here that it was a manufacturer problem. So I called HTC and they told me I am under warranty and that I should send my phone to them. Question is:
Will they give me another phone? Something I want but with the same CID (0_44 here) and, how long will they take to fix this? I know these are kinda weird questions but maybe someone is able to answer them. Thanks.

It would have been more appropriate to ask HTC, no?

Girl said she couldn't tell me. It "depends on each case" and that's why I come here. Someone might have sent their phone for similar reasons.

We don't know what country you are in, we don't know what service centre you're referring to, we don't know what stock they have, we don't know what backlog they might have, some of those things change with time, we don't know what other problems they might find. It depends on each case.
I'm not sure how anybody here could be more qualified than HTC repair centre to answer the question.
HTC service in Hong Kong told me typically three business days for the WiFi problem, I don't know if that includes the pick up and delivery days
The girl in the US checked my serial number which would tell her my cellphone is CID_044 right?
She didn't tell me I was gonna pay or that they couldn't fix it cuz it was not bought from USA. Is it safe for me to send it?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Well HTC__044 is an asian phone, and the international One X is not sold in the US. I've heard that they can't import new motherboards due to some patent infringement, but that may have changed now.

I have read that too. I find it weird that HTC has a global warranty service center in USA. Meaning that they should fix international phones there...right?

Well, yes, but if it requires importing a component that would go against an import ban, that would mean breaking the law, and I'm sure you can understand why they might be inclined not to do that.

Called HTC again and they can fix my Singapore Phone because I have GW, or Global Warranty and they have a "certified" GWS or Global Warranty Service Center. So, they'll charge $20 bucks and fix it for free. What do you think?

How to check whether phone is used or new

I am on the lookout for a Galaxy Nexus in Mumbai, India. I want to make sure that I get my money's worth when buying the phone i.e I don't want to get ripped off by the seller.
Can you please tell me how I can know if a phone is new or used previously.
I already read but people in the comments have reported that they don't always work:

There's very little you can do to check if it's new or not other than call Samsung and see if someone has registered the unit with them for some reason or another. Although the seals on the box being broken would be a massive give away

When i got my nexus in the mail my buddy took it out of the box and put his phone in to play a joke on me and didn't even break the seal. I asked him how he did it and he said he didn't even realize he had done that. So no the seal is no indicator at all lol.

I find it hard to believe you can undo the seal without damaging it, I had to proper rip mine to get into the box. Perhaps the EU ones are more secure!!
Either way, unless you're getting it from an official dealer it's hard to say whether it's 100% new or not

Sad day, cracked screen.

Well, sad day today. A golf ball landed on my galaxy s3's screen. Needless to say, golf ball > galaxy s3.
Called customer service to see how much it is to be replaced, and with my insurance, its a big 166$. Ridiculous.
EDIT:
My brother works at a Radio shack, and they'll fix it for like 100$.
Has anyone used Radio shack before to get a screen replacement? If so, how long did it take, and did they do a goob job?
feet taiserva
Purchase the replacement screen on eBay, watch a video on youtube on the screen replacement. It's easier than you think and wouldn't cost much at all. If your opposed to that I would trust them, it's not difficult.

The 100$ is what my brother said, after looking online it actually ends up to being 329$.
I'm thinking I'll let T-Mobile do it... I don't want to risk destroying it myself..
Kind of sucks though, a golf ball dropped and cracked it as bad as it did, it's at the bottom, like right on the home button, but the crack went to nearly the top of the screen.
Did you check eBay?? I would think they were way under $100 for the screen.

Well I checked Amazon, I have Amazon Prime for free for being a student.. and they are around $15-20.
I just don't want to take the chance that i make it worse than it already is... I'm not good at all at doing things like that, I'd rather it be done by someone who knows what they are doing.
Also, they said I could use a phone from the T-Mobile store until mine is replaced, which is pretty cool..
Understandable you don't want to make it worse than it already is. Try looking for places in your local area, there are repair shops that fix phones and video game systems for a fraction of the cost. Some times on Groupon they have Groupons for say $60 for a screen replacement, that's always another option you could check out.

Yea, I will look around.. But I do like that I can take it to T-Mobile, and they will loan me a phone while it's being fixed. I'll have to odin it back to stock though. Oh well.

Ontop of having Radio Shack doing it...it will void your warranty...to keep your warranty either have T-Mobile or Samsung fix it.

Well I called the insurance company this morning. They said $150, and that my replacement phone will be here tomorrow.
All is well, atleast it still works so I can use it until the new one comes tomorrow. Glad im getting a new one as well, instead of just getting this one fixed and sent back.
Thanks for feedback guys! :victory:
Well, as new as a refurbished phone can get. Any replacement/warranty phone that congress from tmobile is most likely going to be refurbished. I know because I have one and I'm very nit picky about my phone and always find some small defect with it.

Yeah, I have had that experience as well... Although more often than not, I end up with a busted camera which is more than a *minor* defect...
Asurion sometimes sends out BNIB devices but only if a) they don't have a refurb on hand or b) you've gone through a few refurbs in a short time.
I tried fixing my Nexus One's cracked screen...ROYALLY ****ed it up (just a little too much glue & ripped a ribbon) and ended up wasting $150 even after selling it for parts on eBay.
I would say if you are thinking about doing it yourself and don't have a lot of patience/manual dexterity/proper tools & work environment, don't try.
Also I figure the S3 is probably a lot harder to take apart than my old N1.

LG Replacing G3's That Have Cracks Around The Microphone

Hey guys, so i took my case off my G3 today to clean up any dust that may have gotten through and i noticed that there is a tiny hair line crack in the bottom where the microphone is at -__- i looked it up and saw that LG is replacing them for you i was wondering if anyone has returned theirs that has a crack and i am advising everyone to look at their G3s bezel and check if there are any cracks on theirs.
I probably need to unroot my G3 before returning it, but was wondering if i have a G3 from Tmobile with the unlocked bootloader will they send me a Tmobile G3?
http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/lg-g3-owners-complain-of-cracking-issues
Actually I I had the same crack only through the ir blaster. I called lg and they told me to send them the phone and they would review it. Who wants to wait 2 weeks to get their phone back, right? So I called T-Mobile and they said it was a known issue ... Received my replacement from them in 3 days! No hassle at all. Hope this helps
Did you have insurance with your phone? And how long after you bought it would you say you noticed the crack and called tmobile?

I have called tmobile customer care twice. Both times said it wasn't showing up as a known issue. Each time they told me to call LG customer care. How did you get them to replace your phone? This is driving me crazy because after 1 month and no drops or careless handling of this phone, I have cracks I. the housing of a $600 phone. And I'm not sending my phone off for 2 weeks too LG to get repaired.
Lg g3 cracking
I also have this issue im waiting on a response from lg service dept to see if there gonna collect my phone or replace it keep us informed if anybody gets a replacement thanx
Wow I also have cracks on both the top and bottom microphones.. What the hell really? Of course T Mobile is no help.
I just got mine yesterday and no cracks but I did see that the usb port is very difficult abd tight. I could see a crack forming easily just because of the usb port.

I feel like some compensation is required here for a 2 month old device to get a crack in the body is absurd. This woman couldn't even garuntee they would send me a new device our would give me one of the extra batteries and charger for my trouble. They also wouldn't even pay for the shipping to send it to the repair facility. Fing ridiculous. I'm about to dump this phone on craigslist and get a Moto x

Google LG G3 case cracking and articles on different websites and forums will pop up. Even pictures of the said issue. The cracks are in THE SAME spot on all the affected phones. We have not dropped our phones. There is no other physical damage done to the phone. Look it up dude.
I didn't say you did. I just wanted to see some pictures. It is probably a weak area on the phone and a little stress to the area cracks it. It definitely shouldn't happen but this sort of thing seems to happen to many different phones.

Are the N930FD battery issues-free?

Today I ordered N930FD and it will come tomorrow.
Are the duos phones with no battery issues or they are also prone to blowing up.
I suppose that this phone might come from a new batch and it will be good, but will the IMEI checking websites show me if there is an issue?

I like to think my battery battery is safe. I've not run into any problems since August 15th when I received the device. I don't plan on exchanging it either until I see the slightest hiccup if any kind. Goes to show how good the FD version is.
ANY device may have an affected batt, go safe, exchange
I ordered it from a local store and canceled the order because I checked the IMEI before purchase and it was from the affected ones :/

You won't see any "hiccups". Having your Note 7 run hot isn't a sign the battery may be bad, nor is battery drain (Unless it's draining at like 1%/Minute or something).
As soon as the battery develops an internal short through the separator (if that truly is the issue) it'll rapidly heat, develop more shorts and catch fire internally. Despite what I keep reading there's not going to be any signs, the batteries aren't overheating at all, and they can operate normally up to like 50*c or something. They will overheat once they've caught fire though. So suck it up and go and replace it. You cannot know if yours is bad.

Hum, I really want to place that order. Wonder if the US customs gonna inspect it...or whatever.
Probably not, all my previous purchases from Asia, Europe with DHL FedEx UPS all went through without custom issue.

I never got charged any duties or taxes for all the phones I purchased from overseas. This is for personal use not commercial unless u buy bulk then CBP might hit u with duty/tax.
I just bought the phone from them, came out to $764. Can't beat that

Is that a reliable Seller?
I did some research on Google, they are one of the top 3 resellers and the reviews are pretty good

LOL... I wouldn't say "anything"... And believing nothing would make me ignorant. Sort of like those who believe that Samsung is omni-potent.
Tried to place an order and strangely got declined even though it's one of the accepted card...Oh well, will try another card later.
