This is not windows phone 7.8!!!
This is a app for WP7.5 called "W Phone 8"!!!
You can try it, download the app in the windows phone market and try it!
Cheers
It's not an app. There's a video of it running at http://www.liveside.net/2012/11/05/windows-phone-7-8-shows-up-on-nokia-lumia-900-in-china/ and the build is 7.10.8847.619
It's definitely an early version of 7.8, likely beta. You can tell by the icons on the home screen. They are not all the correct sizes. But is proof that it's coming, because as far as I'm aware, there is NO way to flash a custom ROM to the 900.

Is it posible to install windows mobile 6.5 on an windows phone 7 or android phone ?
I ask this because we are dropping support for windows phone but it is going to take a while for us to do the port to android and our clients are having trouble geting devices that can run our current software.
Regards Christian
Nope. Not possible.
Why would you expect your customers to hack their devices to install WM 6.5 just to run your company's software (which would kill their warranty for the device) even if it was possible?
Huh! Why would someone buy a windows phone only then to install wm 6.5 or whatever? If they wanted 6.5 they would not have bought a windows phone 7 in the first place and bought the older phones.
People seem to think phones are like PCs... They aren't.
Downgrading is easy. Bring the WP7 devices back and get HD2s or Tilts/TouchPro's, etc. Samsung Jacks or Epix if you're into that formfactor.
I would never expect anyone to do this on my request
it was actulaly the client that asked me My only reply was that I would look into it
regards Christian Andersen
Its not possible but on the bright side, there will be a big update in Jan

why are you dropping support for 6.5? and why not make a wp7 port, from what I've heard, it's not that hard.
There are a few reasons that we cant port to Windows Phone 7.
The main reason is the same reason why.
Firefox and Skype will not be avalible on Phone 7.
Our code base is cross platform and is written in C++.
and even if we wanted to develop in something like silverlight or XNA the lack of database and sockets would stop our application dead.
So we are dropping all windows development and are moving our mobile platform to Android and IPhone

I second that...
The biggest point of my phone is for fpsece (psx emulator).
I want snapdragon, no slideout keyboard, and cdma (verizon customer).
I've considered the lg fathom, but I'm not sold on it.
Optimally, I'd want a proper d-pad on the front, but I think those are a thing of the past.

Touch control are koo but arent a good replacement for d-pads imo...mainly for games. Maybe one day some finds a way to have a slider cell that has dedicated game keys like a psp & physical kb like the tp2.

You can call it a rumor, but we'll see later...
Tango update is coming to all the current Windows Phone smartphones in early June, operators are currently testing the update.
It might be available for download the first week of June for unlocked phones and phones sold by operators.

Hi Stephen,
There are some custom ROMS avilable now with Tango built in but not sure which other phones ROMS are avilable for. Mine is an HTC Trophy U.S. (Spark_W) CDMA. Here is the link: Ansar's Tango custom rom (I am running this rom)

I'm not sure but I think the HD7 also has a Tango ROM available; do a search here on the forum to be sure. Good luck.
I just put Tango on my Surround earlier, it's absolutely excellent. Wp7 is definitely a robust platform. I switched from my Atrix 4G today actually to this phone and even though the Atrix Is 2x the phone hardware wise, and ran great with the ICS rom I had on it, this wp7 phone just feels so damn refined
Sent from my Surround using Board Express
I'm using Tango for my HD7 Intrinsic rom by shad4w.
I am not really excited about tango as i was with mango. As much as i love wp7 and my HD7 it feels like to little to late. I know tango was always meant to be a interum update or thats what leaked out as i dont think it was ever confrimed apart from the fact it runs low power hand sets ie 610. I assume microsoft is putting all of there eggs in one basket with Phone 8.
Are the roumors of Tango 2 real? Is there A Tango 2 in the works or will we just have to wait until Appollo?

Well, how to answer. Yes, the rumors are real in the sense that someone has stated a rumor. But they aren't real in the sense that they will come to pass. If that was the case, they wouldn't be rumors anymore just statements of intentions. Are we clear? Crystal.

What kind of answer is that? Are you just being silly or maybe in need of attention that you have to give me sarcasm? All I asked was a simple question; a simple yes or no would have been all that was necessary.

Cool, so you selling your device so you can buy an Android ...which obviously doesn't suck.....al;kdjghy8t g[pozhunbx......sorry, I threw up saying that.
Bottom line here...they've always said this....It needs to work...if it doesn't , they won't do it. I can live with that...obviously your standards are higher than mine...
Part I like best.... The update will be delivered directly to users, sidestepping carriers, and can be done over WiFi.
its not so much the lack of ability to take advantage of multicore and NFC. but due to the new kernel its the lack of new apps
What is sucks about this is the fragmentation, now you'll see a bunch of apps only supported if you are running WP8. which you wont be able to do on your 2 months old Lumia.
Hopefully this is true.

In basic principle, I can agree. But not in overall. An available app will or won't be able to load on your phone. Its not like it will download and not run right. Like you see in the Android market.
At some point its got to be ok to say, it makes no sense to upgrade a device. If you were to upgrade to 8, but most of the new features didn't work, you would comment about how it didn't work.
Can't have it both ways...well, maybe you can....but still...Microsoft is only doing what it said it would do.

The guy mis-read/mis-understood entirely.
What MS said is that WP8 users, not WP7 users, can register to be Microsoft's test mules for updates that are going to be released soon.
The biggest worry is that WP8 will allow native code for apps, and that many apps will thus not work on "older" phones.
The Lumia 900 is only a few months old and the 800 and 710 and 610 are not much older (all are less than 9 months on the market), but they will not be getting Windows Phone 8 update just like all first generation Windows Phones. Nokia must have known for some time as well that current Lumia buyers would not get WP8 update, this seems unfair especially for Lumia 900 buyers.
I wonder if Nokia plans to do something to make this more fair for current Lumia users?

How hard would it be to offer the "with-contract" price on the new WP8 devices to current Mango owners, even if they're not eligible for an upgrade? That would satisfy me plenty.
Apps written in native code won't happen immediately. If you're an app developer, why write an app for a market with no installed base when you can write one to cover both the installed base and the developing one?

I agree, I bought my 900 and I love the phone I really do but I somehow feel cheated that Nokia let this phone out knowing there would be no update. And yes I am sure they knew, when releasing this phone that there would be no WP8.
How WP 7.8 will make me happy? I like the new start screen but I also want a file explorer and the ability to add custom tones and ringers at will. Yes I know some of you look at adding custom ringers and tones is silly but hey I like it ...and no I DON'T want an android.
I think AT$T should allow lumia 900 and htc titan owners to upgrade to a new wp8 at the 2 year contract price. I don't want to be stuck with old outdated apps

lol I know that I was more referring to custom tones for email and messaging. As for custom ringers I think and on board app for making them would be cool. But I already knew bout the methods to make them just to be clear.
Was I a beta tester?

It is other way around. A lot of good apps/games are not ported over to WP7 because of the lack of native code support. Once WP8 is out, you will see a lot of those apps/games flood the martket.
Besides, you can create apps for Windows 8 and WP8 at the same time with very minimum modifications.
F**king ludicrous. All the features I have been waiting for I expected to see in Apollo. VPN, true multitasking, native code execution and the excuse is we can't support newer hardware and older on the same platform?
What total load of bullsh!t. I have been supporting MS OS's for a LONG time now and have windows 7 running on 9 year old computers and XP running on new hardware. I guess the last 20 years of them writing OS's that can do that isn't proof it is possible?! Thanks for thinking were all too stupid to notice.
