I've had my nexus for about a week.. it was on stock when I got it so I rooted and started installing ROMs.. no matter which ROM I try audio through speaker doesn't work.. I took the phone apart just to check on things and nothing seems wrong with the speaker. Everything except for the speaker works.. I guess my question is what should I do to determine if its software or hardware?

did it work before?
The person I got it from said it did before he factory reset it, but before I rooted I factory reset twice.. I don't know if it did all I have is his word

You might want to look into replacing the whole little assembly that includes the speaker. Everything in the gnex except the screen is both cheap and easy to replace.
That's what I'm ordering its like $25 so I'll be ordering it Thursday.. my digitizer is cracked but I'm not willing to pay $170+ just to have a not cracked screen.. the LCD is fine..

I think with the cost of the white housing and the screen, you're better off just buying a new white s2.
I found it for $180 and I bought the phone for $140. I don't think I can find a cheap white one for $320.

Atleast I haven't seen one on CL that cheap.

I've seen them for 300 brand new guess all depends on where your at. Just replace the screen and swap with someone hat has a white one
To answer your question, yes it is easy. Especially if you get the new frame as well as screen. It is just a matter of switching over the circuit boards and speakers. I am doing it as well right now with a phone i have with broken screen. Google t989 disassembly and you will find some step by step pictures and maybe a video or two. Don't forget to get the white back as well.

Good luck! I haven't found screens for sale for this phone only the digitizer. As far as turning the whole housing white you would have to paint it, I think your better off putting a skinomi white skin rather than painting it if you screw up there is no going back and there goes your DVP.
Here is the one I found
eBay

That is good. It means that the screen, digitizer, capacitive buttons are all installed in the shell. All you do is transfer over your motherboard and other components. It is a good buy..

Hi, I dropped my galaxy nexus on concrete and its cracked. The display still works and I'm typing this with my phone.
Could u just get the glass?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
The glass is fused to the display. Samsung charges 150 to 250 to replace it, but depending if you get two day shipping or ground. They just emailed me today to tell me that they are waiting on a part for my repair, and which is also a broken glass screen.
Do some searches in the forum for a better idea

I'll buy your broken phone from you.

What do you guys think I can do I want another nexus only got 15$ I'm pocket how do my options look?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
If you only have 15 dollars then get a screen protector. That's really your only option if that's your budget. Now if you've had the phone for less than 30 days you can add square trade to it for 99.99

Found that out with my ns4g when truck ran over it 2 months after having it and I took it apart. Craziest thing tho...a large portion of glass is straight gone and it still lights up just can't see anything but lines and a slight green tint and computer sees it if plug into usb. Before my current phone (gnex) came out cheapest could find screen for it was $175. Not i think saw for a hundred. It's been sitting in drawer. Hope my gnex doesn't break and don't want to know how much for screen.

Hi, I have a titanium galaxy nexus gsm with CM10 and my wife has the white with stock 4.2 not rooted or unlocked bootloader. When I take micro pictures my phone auto focuses and takes a sharp picture. The white one trying to auto focus but it takes blurred pic. Does anyone knows why is there a difference?

Can anyone take a picture with their phone like a dollar bill. If possible so we can compair

Try to determine if its condensation. I would recommend you place your phone in a ziploc bag overnight with DRY UNcooked instant rice and see if it goes away
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Different camera settings? Condensation seems unlikely. Are you both on stock Android?

It's not a nexus. He's using the nexus to take a picture of the another phone to make his point.
Anyways, I'm almost certain this is a software issue/glitch. I used to have this error on a rom I flashed awhile back. It would focus when I tapped the image, but when I hit the shutter button, it would unfocus before capturing the image. It may be a problem with the camera app itself. I don't know if you can reinstall it without root, but if you can, that'd be my first bet. If that doesn't work, I don't know then. Sorry.
Where can i find mother board for GNEX?
