Hi, I dropped my galaxy nexus on concrete and its cracked. The display still works and I'm typing this with my phone.
Could u just get the glass?

The glass is fused to the display. Samsung charges 150 to 250 to replace it, but depending if you get two day shipping or ground. They just emailed me today to tell me that they are waiting on a part for my repair, and which is also a broken glass screen.
Do some searches in the forum for a better idea

I've had my nexus for about a week.. it was on stock when I got it so I rooted and started installing ROMs.. no matter which ROM I try audio through speaker doesn't work.. I took the phone apart just to check on things and nothing seems wrong with the speaker. Everything except for the speaker works.. I guess my question is what should I do to determine if its software or hardware?

did it work before?
The person I got it from said it did before he factory reset it, but before I rooted I factory reset twice.. I don't know if it did all I have is his word

You might want to look into replacing the whole little assembly that includes the speaker. Everything in the gnex except the screen is both cheap and easy to replace.
That's what I'm ordering its like $25 so I'll be ordering it Thursday.. my digitizer is cracked but I'm not willing to pay $170+ just to have a not cracked screen.. the LCD is fine..

Just the glass? Yeah you can find it pretty cheap but who's doing the replacement itself? Samsung will do it for $160 including the glass. It's dicey doing it yourself though...

True. Yeah I've seen the glass for my gsm model going for 15 on eBay. But I though glass and LCD are connected, meaning I would have to soughter the parts back together? Anyone have any more info on this?

They are not connected. A heat gun separates the glass.

I would check out this thread.
Also, notice that the author of that thread updated it to say he doesn't recommend it after a long-term test.

Don't try to change only the glass, the lcd screen is very atached to it and you can't do it, a friend of my alos had to sell the motherborad after the unsecsfull operation. It's just my opinion....
I just replaced the screen and digitizer on mine. I purchased the replacement from eBay for about $130. I watched a YouTube video on how to take the phone apart. It was very easy to do.

I have a epic 4g touch the LCD is cracked but the glass is okay. Looking to fix it myself any idea on where to get parts from?

Same happened to me man I was gonna do that too but the screens at the time were like $180-$200 and samsung will fix the fone for ~$160 try ebay and amazon tho under "epic 4g touch digitizer" (or "lcd screen")

Thanks I'll give eBay a try. Was hoping that it would be less than 100 bucks. Lol

If I remember correctly... The digitizer and the glass are pretty much one piece.
I know the unit is usually sold as one unit. Just an fyi.

So what should I be looking for a "digitizer" or "LCD screen" just trying to narrow my search down. Thanks in advance. Also do you think its worth to fix it?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Either keyword should get you to the same thing. like the other guy said there mostly sold as a single unit
Mostly its just that some sellers use "digitizer" and some use "lcd screen" in there title descriptions:beer::beer:

There are plenty of videos of people repairing their s iii digitizers. I don't think it is that much more different then the s ii screens. To get the screen and material just type in "710 digitizer sprint" our you could leave out sprint. Either way you are going to need a hot air gun or a blow dryer and a steady hand.
sounds like a lot more of a hassle than I thought. Not sure if its worth it .
