Yesterday I got my new GS3 in the mail. I used to have an iphone but I got an early upgrade and hated it so I switched(since my tablet has Android and I like it much better). In the box with my new phone name a new sim card however it was already punched out of the bigger card it normally comes in(not sure if this has anything to do with it but I will put it in here just in case). I put that card aside and took out the sim card from my iPhone and put that in my GS3, then I put the new sim card in my old iPhone. Everything worked fine, I got a cellular signal on my GS3 and I could use cellular data(what I presume was 3G) and no signal on my iPhone. However I noticed that there was no icon telling me if I was connected to 4G/LTE, I looked but I couldnt find any switch to turn it on in the settings. So talking with my friend today he suggested that I use the new sim card I got with my phone to see if that gave me 4G/LTE. I switched the cards back and I got signal on my iphone and the symbol telling me I was on 3G but did not get a signal on my GS3. I let it sit for a bit but nothing changed, so I switched them back. However now I could only make calls or texts on my GS3 and not use cellular data at all. I looked up my problem and I have tried the following: turning it off and on again, making sure packet data was turned on, resetting my APNs. I know that was a book to read through but I was told once to recount all I could, thank you in advance for at least getting this far.
Go to AT&T store, tell them to switch your data plan from iPhone to LTE smartphone. I had this issue a month ago. You can do it online also under your account feature manager but I went to them in person so I don't mess anything up.

So I dropped AT&T for the Incredible and my number successfully ported over, but I cannot connect to the Internet. I can make/receive calls and SMS, but no Internet besides wifi. I've been on with vzw support and went through reactivating the phone (*228) and a couple hard reset to no avail. They said it could have something to do with porting from AT&T, but I'm not understanding that connection. I don't have too much faith in support figuring out so I'm trying the forums. Does anyone have a clue how to resolve this or is it a defect with the phone.
Some details:
there is no 3G symbol near the signal status bars.
Settings/Wireless & networks: shows "Mobile Network" with a green check, buts its grayed out so no action can be taken on it. Directly underneath "Mobile Network" it says "Turning on..." and it seems to flash that status every once in a while.
Thanks!!
I would go into a Verizon store and hold someones hand while they fix it. Almost seems like it's not correctly provisioned.
Is the phone....on? Ha sorry I couldnt resist.
Ha!! Of course. Actually my internet connection just started working on its own about an hour ago. I now get 3g connectivity so life is good. Sounds like it was a VZN issue with them provisioning data plans for new customers or existing VZN customers that made a change to their data plan.
mine did the same thing today...went back to best buy and asked my brother what was up and he said probably Verizon taking forever because of so many activations today.
While I was in there getting my phone, 3 others got it, and thats not including the 5 my brother got earlier in the day and the 7-8 i saw at verizon store (would have been 2 more but the couple didnt want to pay a $400 deposit per line).
That doesnt include regular daily activity they do.
my activation only took me less than a minute.
So like as ive said around these threads about my lte never going on...so today i went to att demanded a new sim card...wallaah lte now works...prbly the sim cad wasnt functioning correctly ...buuut lte sometimes goes away ..i restart my phone and there it is again...if it goes away i gotta restart phone to re obtain it...do you guys think its prbly a phone issue...i should try to get a new one through att warranty????
I've noticed lately that my LTE sometimes drops off to 4G when I'm on a call, but goes back to 4G when I start using something data related. I think it used to always stay on LTE, but I can't confirm that. I did have to restart the phone once to get LTE to show up again, but that was only once. It may be a network issue.
If you have constant problems I would continue to ask AT&T about it.
Yea i think its netwonk issues....i couldnt get my phone replaced they said...but lte does work now better it jus goes off and on i think its due to lte not being out completely so it only works if your in the right area...try to get a new sim card...tell them your phone keeps going on edge...thats what i did and the new sim card did help a lot....
LG NITRO-N XDA APP
I picked up an unlocked att galaxy note 2 to replace a broken phone. I use straight talk (att) as my service provider. I had to change my sim cards from a regular to a mini for the note. It took a couple minutes and my service was great. I tested the speeds and they were decent. I was able to send/receive mms,sms and phone calls. It was great all day. Later that evening, I went to the movies. They must have a cell blocker or something because it killed my service (same thing happened to me the week before with my old working phone). I had to go into airplane mode and back out to get service back. It was kind of weak after that. This morning I woke up with no cell or data service. I would look at the bars go up to full 4g then drop to 1 bar at edge and then lose all service. Just random spikes that happened all day. I tried various apn setting w/ no difference. I rooted my phone with cleanroom. I had solid 2-4 bars for a few hours. Then again, I started to lose service. I tried my fiancee's T-mobile pay as you go card and same thing. little to no bars of edge or nothing at all. I did the hack to enable aws, the Tmobile card had a solid 4 bars of cell but no data. I put my straight talk sim back in and I seem to be holding 3+ bars of 4g with decent speeds but The trend has been to wait til I get my hopes up then crush them with 0 service. I have looked into the interwebs, but haven't seen anything with a problem quite like this. I'm wondering if I just got a bum phone or if my mini sim is poop. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Going through more settings, I'm getting "Network Not Found" under the status list in About phone. Pretty much anything that has to do with a carrier isn't there. I then went under mobile network settings and looked at "Network Operators". It was set to automatic so I clicked manual. The only option was AT&T. The phone is supposed to be unlocked. I then clicked back to automatic and it's not able to find my provider info.
I was recently on Tmobile and decided to switch back to NET10 for ATT's network. I was using an unlocked Lumia 520 when I first switched over so I used the micro-sim. I use an adapter obviously for my GNexus and my Rugby Smart. Well, when I switched it into my Gnexus, it would get signal, and then cut out. The phone still read as having a sim card in it, but no network anything. I tried it in all phones - same thing and eventually the phones wouldn't even connect to the network for a few seconds.
So, I activated the mini-sim in the kit (it has 3 - 2 att and 1 tmo). It works fine in both Samsung phones (I didn't cut it yet to put in the Lumia). The problem I seem to have now is the phones both lose connection to the google services at some point - the little blue color cuts out (and whatever it is on the Rugby). I still have data, the Gnexus shows the H and if I open the phone and use an app - it'll update or whatever. Sometimes I get connected to the google services right then, other times no. I reset the Gnexus a few days ago and the Rugby was about 2 weeks ago I reset it.
My battery dies like a mofo now though on either phone and I know that Tmobile always kicked down to UMTS to save battery and ATT mostly doesn't as evidenced by the H always - can this be the huge battery drainer? Could it be the NET10 mini-sim is also bad? I know the Gnexus and many samsung phones have 'eh' battery, but it wasn't like this on Tmo.
I'm on stock - no roms or anything. I get good, strong ATT signal (about 90dBm) at work and home. Anyway, thank you all.
Resolved. Quick phone call to carrier. Needed to be activated with a signal.
Did anyone here with AT&T have a hard time getting the phone to activate?
I set the whole thing up over wifi with no Sim and used it for a couple of hours with no issues.
I needed my working phone for work so I didn't insert the Sim. When I got home I popped the Sim in and there was no service.
I tried inputting the apn and settings manually. The service would pop on then turn back off. I reset network settings. Didn't work.
I factory reset. Didn't work.
Of course a series on reboots, insert/eject Sim...
I've needed to do some work to get phone's activated before but this is different. The wifi turns itself off. The mobile data toggles on and off. And it heats up a bit. I tried doing a factory reset with Sim inserted but then when I tried to set it up, it could not connect to wifi with the Sim inserted. Remove it and wifi works again.
Im probably gonna go to AT&T tomorrow but this is weird. The phone is brand new.
Just thought I'd put it out there. Thanks
I'm on cricket. Only challenge was to provide cricket with an iphone imei so they could activate volte. I get volte but no wifi calling.
What device are you coming from?

Oneplus 5t. Pretty sure all I had to do was pop in the Sim.
I've had the OnePlus 7t (HD1905) for about 4 months now. Using AT&T and have had no problems at all with it. Popped the sim out of my OP6 and into the OP7t without skipping a beat.

That was typically my experience too. But I even put the sim in my son's unlocked phone and it did the same thing. It was actually a relief because I thought that probably meant it was on the carrier's end. It was. I called tech support and they resolved it quick.
AT&T worked for me, excellent data speeds, and great signal. But at times it would go from 4 bars to absolutely no signal, and lots of dropped calls. After that I went to Verizon, not as good of signal, slower data, but no dropped phone calls or mysterious total loss of signal in an area where it should have been 4 bars.
Ever find out about this? I've been using my OP7T with AT&T for a few weeks and once in awhile have this same issue twice now. Nothing you do restores it, but it finally starts working on it's own.
May sound like an odd question, but since some of you guys are using AT&T, can you share your APN settings?
My OP7T is having some weird issues where the wifi hotspot just stopped passing data to any device connected to it. I've reset the phone, all the devices, and tried every combo of APN settings I can find, but it just won't work. It worked fine for months, then nothing.
