Please Help - No network internet connectivity - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I dropped AT&T for the Incredible and my number successfully ported over, but I cannot connect to the Internet. I can make/receive calls and SMS, but no Internet besides wifi. I've been on with vzw support and went through reactivating the phone (*228) and a couple hard reset to no avail. They said it could have something to do with porting from AT&T, but I'm not understanding that connection. I don't have too much faith in support figuring out so I'm trying the forums. Does anyone have a clue how to resolve this or is it a defect with the phone.
Some details:
there is no 3G symbol near the signal status bars.
Settings/Wireless & networks: shows "Mobile Network" with a green check, buts its grayed out so no action can be taken on it. Directly underneath "Mobile Network" it says "Turning on..." and it seems to flash that status every once in a while.
Thanks!!

I would go into a Verizon store and hold someones hand while they fix it. Almost seems like it's not correctly provisioned.

Is the phone....on? Ha sorry I couldnt resist.

Ha!! Of course. Actually my internet connection just started working on its own about an hour ago. I now get 3g connectivity so life is good. Sounds like it was a VZN issue with them provisioning data plans for new customers or existing VZN customers that made a change to their data plan.

mine did the same thing today...went back to best buy and asked my brother what was up and he said probably Verizon taking forever because of so many activations today.
While I was in there getting my phone, 3 others got it, and thats not including the 5 my brother got earlier in the day and the 7-8 i saw at verizon store (would have been 2 more but the couple didnt want to pay a $400 deposit per line).
That doesnt include regular daily activity they do.

my activation only took me less than a minute.

No 3G or H Signals

Hi Guys, Had my Desire a couple of days now, contract with TMobile, UK and so far not once have I ever been able to receive a full 3g or H connection. I have travelled a radius of five miles around my home, still no joy. Connects to wifi ok but can only receive g signal out and about, making data and internet painfully slow as to become unuseable. My phone is connected to mobile network in settings. I am seriously considering returning phone under 7 day policy if this persists. Any solutions would be much appreciated.
Other phones with other carriers in my area work ok and according to TMobile web coverage checker states I live in good reception area.
Cheers.
It's possible your sim is faulty happened to my mum when she got her diamond

Try a different handset when they get them instore, might be a device fault.
Check your coverage? Make sure phone settings are set to dual and not just GSM only. I get none at work or home whatsoever. But the coverage checker tells me this anyway.

Probably a stupid question but have you been on the T-Mobile website and put in your postcode to check the coverage in your area>?
Incase you haven't: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/coverage/street-check/
Hope that helps...
and obviously make sure you have 3g on your account?
I'm with orange, and was told i only had a 2g sim card. it took 3 different customer service people until one agreed to send a new 3g one. Not a problem since.
I had a very similar issue.
For the first 2 days i had my handset, it picked up no 3G or H data ATALL. Like you travelled around in about 5/6 mile radius and got nothing. I called up and cancelled, no one told me why or how it could happen, so i proceeded to cancel.
The next morning, i picked the handset up as i was going out, and to my surprise there it was sitting on 3G. Now the night before, i played with just about every setting under Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks, Network Mode/Network operators, always-on mobile connection, the lot. Took the sim out, rebooted the phone. messing with those options, or possibly turning them on or off for a specific amount of time may have affected my phone.
The same day i poped into a T-Mobile store where the woman told me hat it could have been down to the SIM not being fully activated, incase a postman stole it for whatever reason.. However, once i got back home i called T-Mobile up again, to cancel the cancelation, which was easy as pie. I told him what i was told in-store he looked up my account and said nothing should have changed as it should have been good to go from the 26th (i received it 29th). I had also noticed just before calling T-Mobile, that 150 from my mobile phone would not connect to T-Mobile, because of that the guy on the phone reset some stuff on ym account their end, told me to reboot my phone, and since then, i've had 3G/H flawlessly and 150 works without problem.
Maybe give them a call and they can help you. Or play with those settings like mad.
I should say ive had randon data drop outs and disconnections even in good signal areas not sure if its normal or my sim or phone
Hi Guys, Thanks for the input. Problem now solved, TMobile re sent connection settings down to my phone, now solid 3g or H around my area except indoors or close to my house. Now very happy, am now starting to love this phone.
Cheers

[Q] Roaming Questions

At home in the subarb I get crappy sprint service, specifically texting and voice. It takes 5 minutes for a text to come from my mom's ATT phone to me on sprint, and the same situation takes only 5 seconds while roaming on Verizon. For voice, I only have one ring to pick up the phone on sprint vs. four or five rings on Verizon (it only misses one ring). I've tried it many times, so there is NO argument! When I'm at college in downtown Pittsburgh, the service is very comparable to Verizon and I have no issues whatsoever. From searching the forums, I've found out that the voice you use while roaming on Verizon is limited to your anytime minutes (I have 1500), and your data is limited to 300 mb using 1x. Now the problem is that I'm home for summer and I'm sick of the service already. For the past day I have been roaming on Verizon and it feels like I have gotten a whole new phone all over again. Everything works correctly everywhere and it's phenomenal. My texts go through instantly and I'm missing no calls. My question is, if I stay under 1500 minutes (I never even make any phone calls anyways, it would take me months to hit 1500) and under 300 mb of data (I plan on simply using sprint 4g or wifi at all times) until I go back to school in 3 months, will I run into any issues? Is there any limit on the time that you spend roaming or the amount of text messages you send/receive?
Roaming minutes are counted as your plan.minutes, no limit on texts. There's a PRL hack that locks your phone into roaming with 3g speeds. Data is kinda iffy, some people.have gotten dropped from.sprint from.excessive data roaming after from a few months to a year.
Also Google the app roam control, its not in the play store but its very useful for people in your situation.
If I was you I'd just lock in roaming and let sprint eventually drop you, sell your ET4g and get a phone from a better carrier.
agreed.. in the same situation.. ive had roam control for a looong time but just recently put it to use.. im in phoenix az and i cant get a signal in my house unless i use roam control to force roam.. had to for the last few weeks since we dont have internet right now and cant use the airrave..

Call Sprint and get an Airave - provided are allowed another line on your account and have an internet connection at home. Explain your situation (if your school address is your billing address, change it to your where you are now) and they will provide one free(ish). There is a nominal admin fee each month. If the first CSR you talk to tries to charge you fr the unit just ask to be transferred to someone else in customer retention, you'll succeed in getting it for free.
I was in this situation where I was roaming in my house. Many of the CSRs told me it was not possible because, "the voice and data coverage is very good at your address". Which is true looking at the map on their website, but far from the reality. I used Roam Control from the market and within 3 months received a letter telling me to curb my roaming or be terminated - the only plus would be the termination would be ETF free. To be clear, the roaming agreement is 800 minutes OR a majority of minutes for voice and 300mb OR a majority of use. So even if you stay below 500 minutes, but they're all roaming you are still violating their terms.
If you call them today your problem should be solved, airave in hand, before the end of the week. If you have any trouble PM me and I'll try to help. Good luck.

I have found that PRL hack, and I do not want to use verizons 3g to prevent using too much data, especially since I have unlimited sprint 4g and wifi.
I am using roam control to force roaming.

I forgot to clarify this in the op, I have had an airwave and it made texting impossible. I returned it a few weeks ago even though it was free.
Your other information about the data roaming was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

Cell Service issues

I picked up an unlocked att galaxy note 2 to replace a broken phone. I use straight talk (att) as my service provider. I had to change my sim cards from a regular to a mini for the note. It took a couple minutes and my service was great. I tested the speeds and they were decent. I was able to send/receive mms,sms and phone calls. It was great all day. Later that evening, I went to the movies. They must have a cell blocker or something because it killed my service (same thing happened to me the week before with my old working phone). I had to go into airplane mode and back out to get service back. It was kind of weak after that. This morning I woke up with no cell or data service. I would look at the bars go up to full 4g then drop to 1 bar at edge and then lose all service. Just random spikes that happened all day. I tried various apn setting w/ no difference. I rooted my phone with cleanroom. I had solid 2-4 bars for a few hours. Then again, I started to lose service. I tried my fiancee's T-mobile pay as you go card and same thing. little to no bars of edge or nothing at all. I did the hack to enable aws, the Tmobile card had a solid 4 bars of cell but no data. I put my straight talk sim back in and I seem to be holding 3+ bars of 4g with decent speeds but The trend has been to wait til I get my hopes up then crush them with 0 service. I have looked into the interwebs, but haven't seen anything with a problem quite like this. I'm wondering if I just got a bum phone or if my mini sim is poop. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Going through more settings, I'm getting "Network Not Found" under the status list in About phone. Pretty much anything that has to do with a carrier isn't there. I then went under mobile network settings and looked at "Network Operators". It was set to automatic so I clicked manual. The only option was AT&T. The phone is supposed to be unlocked. I then clicked back to automatic and it's not able to find my provider info.

Error 34 Network issues

I've can only send texts periodically. But most of the time I get Error code 34
When I'm roaming on Verizon (in Austin, Tx) I have no problem ever sending texts, but when I'm on the sprint network most of the time doesn't work. I haven't been able to narrow down when it's exactly happening.
Here are the details when I'm in the zip code 78759
1. Shows 5 bars of service. I have ran ##Debug# and can see that I'm on PN 80
2. I attempt to send text.
3. While the text is pending, the service slowly goes down to 0 and fails with error code 34,
4. It comes back in roaming. (the time stamp is much later because I had turned roaming off during the test. I had to go back in and enable it). I dial *99 and it tells me that I'm on the Verizon Network.
5. I resend the text and it's works fine.
I have a thread over on sprint's forum. It's the first google link when you search for error code 34, I'm DanT0007
I have factory reset the phone 6 times (every time I've spoken with a Sprint Rep) and replaced the entire phone once.
When my phone is sitting 2 inches from another Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3, mine shows itself going in and out of roaming, whereas his stays stead at 5 bars and he can send text's just fine. We compare PN's in ##debug# and he is on PN 80 the whole time. I go from PN 80 to roaming and fail to send the text.
This has been going on since I purchased the SGS3, 6 months ago. Previously I had the SGS1 and I no problems with it whatsoever (beyond known issues with the gps)
The problem seems to get worse when I'm indoors. When I'm outdoors, I can get amazing reception. Sprint says that they don't guarantee their phones for indoor use, but it doesn't seem to matter how thick the walls are. If I'm inside, I get crappy signal.
Are there more troubleshooting steps I can perform? Has anyone else seen this issue?
Hmm, not guaranteeing anything, but you can try forcing hands-free activation (make sure you're connected to wifi).
Go to the dialer and put in ##72786#. Then wait for you device to be reconfigured and check whether there are still issues.
If that does NOT, it's likely to be a hardware problem. I have 3 Sprint S3s in my housr and all of them get practically the same reception whether inside or out (comparing dbM).
check to see if they are working on the towers nearby, if they are part of Network Vision, or having capacity upgrades. I consistently have the same issue with my GS3, and had the same issue with my iPhone 4s in the same area because they have been working on our tower here.

I tried that and it seemed to work for about 3 or 4 texts, but I think that was probably just conicidence. Like I said, it sometimes will work.

I think she just wanted to get me off the line. Which is ok, since she didn't sound very intelligent anyway.

Is there anyway to quickly transfer service between the two SGS3s? or would I have to call in to sprint?
I also still have my old samsung galaxy s1, would I have to call in to sprint to transfer service back and forth?

Have you checked to make sure your mobile networks is set to LTE / CDMA ? Have you checked if your Roaming network is set to Automatic, instead of Sprint only ? Have you checked the Roaming Guard settings ? Also the Roaming settings ?
To answer your question, you can transfer service between devices online. But I always call Sprint, just in case they have to do something else on their end.

LTE/CDMA - Yes
Roaming - Automatic
Roaming Guard Off
I should reiterate that when I'm roaming (on verizon) it ALWAYS works. Since this is the case, I find it very hard to believe that it is a problem with my phone.
I should also say that it never seems to work on PN 80. Sometimes I'll try to send a text on PN 80, it'll go from 5 bars to 0 bars, then come jump to another tower (like 242) and it will then work just fine.
So, you'd think that tower 80 is the problem...but I have checked with two other people in the same building as me, with sprint service and samsung galaxy s3's and they can send texts just fine on tower 80.
It's almost like my phone is being denied from connecting to tower 80. I will try switching my phone back to my old one tonight or tomorrow.
When you called Sprint, did you have them reset the Data on your Device ? If not you may want to give that a try.

Yes that would reset everything. The strange thing is doing a complete data reset like that on their end, should have resolced the issue. Did they check to make sure your account has no limitations? You said you already returned one device. Why was that?

The rep said there are no limitations. I returned the original device for this same issue.
I just called sprint and had them revert the service to my old phone, the samsung Epic, which worked fine for 2.5 years. Now that one fails to send texts 50% of the time. I never had problems before.
Yet still, the technicians conclusion was that it is a problem with my Galaxy S3.
When I force a PRL that uses verizon's towers, I have never had a text message fail to send. It seems to me that it's a problem with my account.

I think I figured it out. I work in a tech company that does RF stuff. There is a small radius around a particular device that must be communicating on the same frequency of the tower I'm trying to connect to. The phone must go into some kind of mode where it keeps jumping from towers, so when I go to my friends area (50 ft away) my phone is still jumping from tower to tower. So it still fails, whereas his succeeds.
Today, I had him bring his phone over to my area, and sure enough, it failed when he was connected to tower 80. I'll try to update as I know more.
That's very interesting. Please keep us posted as to if that was definitely the issue.
Have you tried using APN Backup and Restore and reconfiguring your APN to be used on all towers?
I've had messaging problems on my E4GT and now with the new apn.xml i installed
I can do both messaging and MMS on either TW JB or AOSP.

AT&T tech support said my OP7T not LTE Compatible

It's HD1907 T-MOBILE. What I need is HD1905. He sent me the wrong one.
I only realized a few hours ago I had no mobile data. I had got calls and texts to work this morning.
After spending 45 minutes on the phone with AT&T they concluded my phone is not recognized as LTE compatible. WTF? It's not even connecting to 3g.lb
I've been buying unlocked phones for years. My last phone was OP5T. I've never experienced anything like this.
I'll probably take it to the corporate store tomorrow but doubt it'll help. Has anyone had problems with AT&T and this phone?
I'm just putting it out there, hoping somebody has an idea...
AT&T worked for me, excellent data speeds, and great signal. But at times it would go from 4 bars to absolutely no signal or data, and lots of dropped calls. After that I went to Verizon, not as good of signal, slower data, but no dropped phone calls or mysterious total loss of signal in an area where it should have been 4 bars.

I'll bet if you look in the settings your model is HD1905 or the global model, not sure the number.
Actually if you could take a look for me and post back here that'd be good. It most likely won't make a difference but I'm curious.

Yes I have the HD1905, but you can totally forget about vowifi with any provider except for T-Mobile. I tried them all, I even had a tech from VZW work diligently to try and get vowifi working. I told him to try and add my IMEI to the approved list, and that did not work either. As far as AT&T, they did not give me the time of day, they just told me I needed and AT&T device, period.

You mean Verizon when you say VZW?
I'm just confused as to how he would be able to add it to the list of approved devices.
Anyway it's BS. If the carrier supports the phone, and the phone is capable of VOLT!/WIFI CALLING, it should work.

Yes Verizon. I have heard hear many times on this site, that phones are blocked from wifi calling by the IMEI, I or they could be wrong.
Vowifi works on the unlocked Pixel, but are they going to butt heads with Google? Volte works fine, I got a network extender, and I can use google voice to make calls over wifi if I really need to.
If vowifi is a must, get an approved phone, that is all you can do.

I worked at AT&T until a few months ago. I can tell you confidently that their tech support is a bunch of dummies. Employees have their own tech support line to call and that one is just as bad. They would routinely tell customers they needed to go to a store to have something done. Then they'd get to the store to find out we literally cannot do that at the store. Stuff like that was super common. One of them even bet me $1,000 that iPhones DON'T reboot when they update, which we all know is all the way wrong.
I halfway think support tells people that stuff on purpose to try to get them to buy something from AT&T. God, I could rant about that place for hours lol

Maybe you can answer this for me. Just because a T-MOBILE locked phone is able to make calls and texts on AT&T, does that automatically mean it should be able to connect to mobile data?
I was able to get it to make calls after a refresh signal was sent out, but it could not connect to mobile data . My sim is fine. I even popped it my son's Pixel 3a and LTE started immediately.
The seller is saying the fact that it was able to make calls means it is able to connect to mobile data. And I should take it to AT&T before returning it. I don't think he's scamming. He says he has the same phone on AT&T. And he's sold Hundreds of them. That kinda checks out based on reviews and some of those people do report it works with AT&T.
These phones are hd1907 T-Mobile but supposedly OnePlus unlocks them before sending them out to some sellers. I sort of believe the guy but is it true? If it were locked to T-Mobile could I get it to make phone calls?
Obviously I'm not talking about a hack. Because I thought locked was locked. Is it possible for a locked T-Mobile phone to make calls on the AT&T network?
Also I got AT&T to make it work but once I removed the sim/reinsert it, the thing displays weird behavior. Wifi goes in and out. It forgets the apn settings that were set prior.

I agree, ATT was the most horrible experience I ever had. Tracfone may have even had a better customer support.
Verizon CDMA service may be antiquated, but their customer service and tech support is 2nd to none.

It should have no trouble using data BUT you'll have to change the phone's APN settings to match your carrier before you can. You can google it and find them. It's not hard at all to change. Somewhere under the "network" settings.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but as I've understood it the phone will keep trying to access the previous carrier's data network, which is why you didn't have data. But as said above the APN settings should fix that.

If I told you the whole story, which started on Friday morning and in the end involved 7 AT&T employees, 6 on the phone and 1 in the store, it'd probably be removed because it's spam. Too long of a story.
But in the end it didn't get to connect to mobile data..at least not consistently. I took it to the store. The guy removed the Sim reset it, turned it off and boom! - LTE, calls and texts. His theory was it takes a little while for it to unlock and get set so when I tried it the other night it wasn't working.
I was happy because it literally took 5 minutes. I ran some errands and was out for like another 2 hours. Everything was working. Some point between the store and my driveway, the signal was gone. I never got it back. Of course I tried reset, remove Sim, reboot, change apn settings.
I called AT&T... the first woman didn't even know what CDMA and GSM was. I politely got her to transfer me to the guy who 'knows his stuff'. He got it to make calls again, but in the end concluded this device can't work on this network. I didn't wanna argue anymore. He had a BS answer for everything including 'If it doesn't work, why DID it work just a half hour ago?'
He said I could try getting a new sim. They have no idea. My son's sim won't work on this phone but pop it in my old phone and it works. And my sim works in his phone. It's not the sim. I know it.

I took it back to AT&T yesterday. There was someone in front of me so I sat down, removed the sim from my working phone, popped it in the op7t... instant lte, calls & texts. The same thing happened the day before I went to at&t. It worked perfectly well there in the store and even 2 towns away but not m my neighborhood which DOES connect to LTE, has for years on every phone we've had.
The tech (if you can really call him that) updated the sim. That got it done. I've had a working phone for 24 hours. BUT no LTE. It only connects to H+.
I haven't had time to call or go back to the store, but I'm hoping it's an easy fix. This has been the weirdest week I've ever had dealing with a phone. I've learned that AT&T doesn't know what they're doing. I still can't believe I needed to explain what GSM and CDMA was to one of the people on the call.
I'm gonna try a few things tonight after work.

Thanks for sharing, but I've never really needed to mess around with the settings as far as mobile data goes. It either works out of the box, or at most I'll need to put the apn in manually on some custom roms, but even that's rare.
How does the info you provided apply to my problem. I know the phone can connect to lte. It was connecting briefly on Monday afternoon and while I was at At&T yesterday, it connected before they updated the sim.
Is there something I can do with this? It's a sincere question. I'm not sure if I can apply it somehow. Thanks

I think his point was to show that the OP7T does in fact work on all AT&T bands. Normally you don't need to do anything with this if the SIM is provisioned correctly.
What are the chances that you are on the edge of the local AT&T LTE signal so it drops to H+ because that's a stronger connection? At the AT&T store the LTE signal is stronger so the phone is favoring that one. Some phones are more sensitive to signals than others (or more aggressive at switching to a stronger band).
Try using a program like "LTE Discovery" and see what bands you actually are connecting to. It can also let you know what is going on in your area with tower location.

I'll try that. Thanks.
That's what I said but the guy at the store said it's really not a stronger signal at the store. Plus I know I can get LTE at my house and in the store because all our other phones connect, even this one, briefly at the at&t store.
The seller have me a code to input into the dialer but I'm waiting for tomorrow to put it in. It's my day off. If something goes wrong it won't be a huge deal. I will look into what you sent at some point though.

Your posts are bouncing between VoLTE & VoWiFi.
LTE bands and VoLTE work fine on Verizon's network.
Verizon allows VoWiFi on the OP 8's that they sell. They will not activate VoWiFi on the OP 7 series, the claim is that the phone did not go through their security testing. IIRC VZW doesn't allow VoWiFi on any outside phone.
