[Q] LBE Privacy Guard Crash on Serenity 1.2 ROM - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey everyone,
I recently flashed the Serenity 1.2 ROM by Drew Garen on my GS3 i747 Rogers version. So far its been a great ROM; however, I;ve tried installing LBE Privacy Guard, and as soon as I give it root privileges my phone freezes and reboots to this ATT Rethink Possible screen. Anyone know how to fix this problem?
Also I realized my battery is dying very quickly--with very high Android System percentages (~64%!). Anyone else experiencing these problems?

I had that same issue on the current black jelly. And for the battery drain, check the thread and you will know its a common issue.

LBE Privacy isn't JB compatible. They have another app that is though (called LBE Security Master/Manager). It is in Chinese but the good folks in this thread have been taking the releases and converting them to english.

Kernel Question

Hello all,
I recently purchased an S3 and just trying to figure everything out for it (as I am coming from the nexus where everything is much simpler) The only real question I have for everyone is, What kernel is the best so far? Something that is optimized for battery life and speed.
If anyone is from the Nexus development you would know about Franco's kernel which has served me well for a long time, So what I'm looking for is something that is like the Franco Kernel, and has customization settings.
Any insight would be great
Cheers.
When running an AOSP JB ROM (like CM10 or AOKP), I'd suggest ktoonsez's KT747 kernel. It supports overclocking to 2.1 GHz, undervolting, comes with numerous tweakable governors and io schedulers, and it comes with its own adjustment app called KTweaker which is very handy. Just don't use SetCPU or Voltage Control or any other such app with that kernel as they could cause conflicts with KTweaker.

The current KT747 for Sammy ROMS seems to be having issues with many phones though, so for Sammy ROMS I'd say your safest bet is faux123's kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785466
Much appreciated. I was seeing ktoonsez's KT747 kernel, and figured this was the "main" kernel for the s3 but I just had to know for sure. What you describe with it is exactly what I'm looking for in a kernel...full control of it. Thanks again
Also on KT747 ktoon created his on governor called ktoonservative. It's based off conservative but it's kicking some serious butt with my device :good:. I'm also severely under-volted but that shouldn't really change much as far as battery life.

I tried the kernel (both actually) and had no luck with either, one caused everything to fail ie: wifi, data, launcher, touch screen was unresponsive. And after flashing in the other one that says it is 100% stable on all devices, I was left with a phone that wouldnt turn on, and when it did start up, the screen was unresponsive. I tried clearing caches, fixing permissions, but nothing worked at all.
So I went back to stock kernel. Hopefully some of these issues can be resolved some day.

Are you sure you flashed the correct version? Both kernels come in ICS and JB flavors.
Also, I haven't seen anyone else with this issue so I'm not sure what happened.

[Q] Performance issues HTC One V + CM10

I've installed CM10 on my HTC One V, sometimes my phone is very, very slow.
Free memory is about 110mb after boot; after a while it stays between 40 and 50mb. That should not be a problem, right?
Further have I deinstalled a bunch of apps, but at some point the device is not responsive anymore. Opening Android Assistant (app) is not working then too, so I cannot determine what is causing the issues. Waiting for a while sometimes solves the problem, otherwise I have to reboot.
How can I determine the cause of these issues? 50-60 mb RAM is that a problem?
I have overclocked the device to 1.7GHz without problems (no reboots etc.)
I had performance problems with CM10 builds as well. I'm assuming it was just an early build issue... but since that ROM isn't going to be getting updates, I've been trying out alternatives.

I am going to install MyOne, perhaps that's better.
mmmm I've been getting the same problems and thinking of either downgrading to CM9 or looking elsewhere.. I'd be interested in in what alternatives we have,,

Need help screen problems

I'm on the newest nightly build and it keeps showing multi color lines down the screen when trying to type some times and all the time when trying to make reviews on Google maps
Anyone know why please and thanks

Cause it isn't super stable with it being a nightly, unfortunately. They're making lots of changes to things every once in a while, and 3.4 kernel has caused issues for SOME users. You can disable hardware overlays bit that's just a temp fix for now which may have issues with battery in a negative way, so some experienced users report.

Hi there,
Was hoping to get a response from Ayysir or Gideonx, but not sure if they're monitoring this thread (obviously everybody's expertise is welcome!). I've been having a bit of a problem with 3.69 (and had the same problem with 3.68). After a clean install on 3.69, including only a very few data restores from TiBU (and none on the apps that are giving me trouble), I've been consistently getting random but inevitable freezes on nearly all the games I play on my phone, sometimes to the point that the phone actually reboots. I get a screen flicker, and then progress slows to an absolute crawl and I even see frames flickering back and forth at times (i.e., the unicorn in RUA2 moves back and forth a frame or two on screen). When I can fully close the app, it usually reboots fine, but then freezes eventually as before. Everything else about the ROM is absolutely rock solid - I actually just commented to my wife that, other than the freeze up issue, I've never had such a clean ROM on my phone, awesome battery life, smooth as silk, etc.
I've tried pretty much all the kernel options available, in addition to stock, to no avail - the problem persists. No undervolting at all in any case, and the highest CPU temperature I've seen recorded through trickster has been 54 degrees, which shouldn't (I think) be enough to trigger heat-related issues should it? The CPU is generally sitting around 42 degrees under load, which seems great to me.
Anyways, if you have any thoughts about what could be causing the issue, I'd appreciate it. I'm assuming it's ROM-related because of the steps I've taken to eliminate it, but who knows, maybe the issue is hardware related and there's nothing to be done but replace the GPU or something.
Thanks,
--Rob
EDIT: Should also say that this is the second clean install I've done and the problem has continued in both cases (i.e., doesn't seem to be a bad install).
Just to add to my previous post: I've been reading that some problem on Nexus 4 devices have been having problems running games built with the Unity engine since the upgrade to 4.2.2. Anyone have any thoughts on whether this could be the culprit?

You may want to try this... Goto Settings --> Developer Options --> and check Disable Hardware Overlays (I haven't seen this mess with Halo functioning) and Force GPU Rendering. I think there was another related setting you need to turn on.
I got a warranty replacement and haven't been able to switch back from TouchWiz due to a baseband upgrade... So I apologize if that isn't as thorough as I would have liked.
I turned these settings on and game performance went back to normal.
HTH.

I'll give it a shot if it reappears - the problem hasn't occurred in two days now, after having been a very consistent issue since 3.68. All I've done in the meantime is some clean up of the file system via sd maid. Truly bizarre.
Thanks very much for the suggestion!

[Q] Keyguard

So I'm running the latest Pac-Rom nightly with the Franco kernel and at first everything was fine. Now I'm getting incredibly lousy battery life even after undervolting and dropping screen brightness as well as turning off unneeded feature. I'm even running greenify paid version. From what I can see it looks like com.android.keyguard could be the source of the problem. So I did some research and found an closed module intended to disable keyguard. Frankly I wouldn't mind removing it entirety if it'll help my battery. I have a toro so I know the radio doesn't help. Anyone have any input???
