Unsolvable problem? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Ok so I installed a Kernel on the LI7 JB leak that allows me to adjust voltages. I adjusted them too low and my nandroid backup is corrupt. If I flash a kernel that doesnt allow voltage changes the phone works fine but one with UV it wont boot. Im trying to find out how to manually set the voltages back to stock.

apps like setcpu comes with a recovery zip you can flash in recovery if you do this.

Ok I appreciate the file but it still didn't work. At this point I have even tried wiping the phone and flashing a fresh copy of the LI7 leak. I then flashed AGAT's v. 3.1 kernel and the phone gives the initial samsung logo then black for a few seconds and reboots. If I flash AGAT v. 3.0 it boots and works fine. Also if I flash another kernel with OC and UV it works fine. At this point I went back to an old nandroid from ICS and wiped all partitions and restored the nandroid including boot. The I reflashed the LI7 and the AGAT 3.1 still boot looping. Still all other kernels work fine. At this point Im out of ideas.

Are you mixing JB & ICS kernels and roms? There is no LI7, there's an LJ7 and that would use Agat 0.3. Just making sure because mixing kernels from different versions will cause bootloops.

Yes sorry LJ7 after agat 3.2 came out everything worked. Still can't flash 3.1 for some reason but as long as 3.2 works im fine

[Q] Help! Can't flash anything!

I searched but couldn't find this particular problem; any help would be greatly appreciated.
Over the last few days I've downloaded midnight 5.5 and the new Urban fury (each three times; 2 times from different computers and once from the phone) and everything I flash just hangs at the Samsung boot screen. I've odin'ed back to EC05 and tried, always wiped everything 3x....nothing is working.
I can restore a previous backup just fine but that's all that works. I'm on the EC05 modem but also tried with the EF02 and EF10 (?)...the update from 02 anyway. I'm using the purple nurple for recovery.
Any ideas because I'm fresh out. Thanks!

Did you odin to stock EC05 or just the modem?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I guess that part wasn't clear; I odin'ed the whole ROM and it switched me back to the EC05 modem in the process.

Aren't those EXT4 ROMs? You need to run the EXT4 conversion script first. CWM 3.1.0.1 does not convert for you like the older clockworks.
That's a good point. I'm not sure how that works but before the odin ordeal I was on EXT4 and tried wiping and flashing. After odin'ing I suppose it would switch back to RFS but how then does that handle my CWM restore as it was EXT4 when it was backed up? Does the restore change the file system as well?

Just to cover all of my bases I downloaded and flashed the RFS2EXT4.ZIP. I assume that it worked, at least it backed up and flashed to "complete" but after wiping and attempting to flash Midnight again it is still hanging at the Samsung screen..

Restore your system to a working condition with no FCs, run the RFS2EXT4, don't wipe, flash Midnight. The problem with restoring a nand from EXT4 onto an RFS is the new CWM restores the kernel as well which would be EXT4 only. So anytime you need to restore from a Nand, choose advanced restore and restore data.
I tried re-flashing after getting back to a stable backup but still had no luck. I then downloaded Frankenstein ECO5OCE directly to the phone, wiped 3x and flashed it and it booted up with no problems. I'm still not sure what the problem was with the other two. It's hard to believe that all 6 were bad downloads. I think you're probably on to something with the file system train of thought.
Either way, I'll give this ROM a try for a while. Thanks for all your help.
per the 5.5 thread - Bonsai recovery works best with the 5.5 Midnight fixed. CW wasn't working so great for lots of people.
Thanks for pointing out the problems others were having. I actually was able to flash Frankenstein fine and SRF 1.2 fine today. At least I know that my phone's not jacked; I'll try Midnight again shortly I'm sure. I've always had good luck with Rob's ROMs. Thanks again everyone for the help.

I would try going step by step. First go into settings/applications. Go to Maps and force stop and clear data. Try the app again. If that doesn't work, do the same again then power down. Boot into recovery, wipe cache partition and Dalvik cache 3x and reboot. If that doesn't work, wipe everything and hopefully you have a good nandroid backup. If not, you may have to flsh the ROM again. Odin shouldn't be necessary on this one.

I thought that was a typo myself. I think he was referring to EG22 modem from a thread I read earlier
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Actually..i have no idea. When i flashed the eg22...i still had the vision kernel on there. I was fine for a few hours, things went bad when i tried to put gen 2.0 on. My phone never liked gen 2.0 but since i changed mods, i thought things would change. i uploaded gen from acs updater, but of course, it sent me to blue recovery..so i booted up into cwm after i pulled batt. when she came back on, everything started force closing and text messages wasnt working. I went back to eco5 and now everything is fine. Now that i think about it, since it was a leak, maybe it wasnt compatible with set cpu..hmm. As far as the map thing..i tried everything....then it dawned on me. Just delete it and install from market..she brand new now and maps is running.

Broken Recovery

So after flashing the Hitman 1.5 with Touch Recovery, my recovery doesn't work. I tried flashing other kernels via Odin, to no luck. Tried flashing EG30 rooted, still no luck. Basically whatever recovery I flash, I can see it boot to its name, but then it quickly reboots. I've seen others report of same issues, but no fix?!
you need to odin completely back to stock with a full rom.
just flashing kernels is not going to fix it.

Yup, that's what I had to do.
A lot of the bootloops and bricks seem to have the Touch Recovery in common...

after i flashed back to stock i ran into a bootloop when i left fb09. i pulled the battery and booted into recovery wiped data/factory reset rebooted and everything was dandy.
Hmm, having issues going back to gingerbread from ics leak. Flashed complete system, then recovery. I can boot into it fine, although errors a lot and doesn't see internal, only SD. Installs, but doesn't boot up fully. Reflashed full ics leak again and it works fine again. Bah!

Nandroid Restore Help

I'm new to Samsung Android phones, and new to the E4GT, so I need a little help.
I always flash the zip for the EL26 CWM5 recovery like instructed, soooo, here is my issue.
I'm running AOSP and thought I would try CM10 JB, soooo, I flashed into EL26, performed a full nandroid to my Ext SD. I flashed JB and gave it a shot. For issues known to all, I wanted to switch back
So, I went into recovery, flashed the EL26 recovery and rebooted recovery, I then restore the nandroid backup I just made, rebooted, went to the Samsung screen (with the yellow !). After some time, about 20-30 seconds, it goes to a black screen indefinately until I pull the battery.
Any ideas? I have yet to get a nandroid to work on this device. Had no issues at all on my 3D. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.
TIA,
Tee Jay
You need to flash the AOSP kernel. Well first can you boot into recovery or download mode

Yeah I can get into recovery fine, so I flashed an AOSP kernel and then my wifi didn't work.
Is it not connecting?

Nope, won't even turn on. But if I do a full clean flash of the exact ROM, it works fine.
I'm by far no expert but I'd say the kernel is being replaced by the gb recovery kernel when you flash back for your safe recovery.I personally keep a couple various recoveries so I can nandroid backup on the kernel native to the Rom and then the backup will contain the proper kernel.I think I got that right.so....nandroid b4 recovery has been my habit.
Had this issue before, minus the yellow triangle....anytime you're on an aosp rom and do a nand via el26, the nand stores the last kernel used (which is GB el26). After you restore, wipe cache and dalvik and then flash an aosp kernel, probly one from chris41g. Reboot and should he good to go.

Right, I tried that with my AOKP backup, I was able to boot. But then my WiFi wasn't working because of something to do with the Kernel I'm assuming

VM FL14 repacks

I cannot seem to get any kernel repacks working for my VM GS2. They boot fine, but I keep getting the darn unable to install apps to sd or usb storage for my paid apps. I am running the jellybean leaked rom btw. I have tried the FL14 repack to no avail. Any advice or suggestions. I have tried everything that I can think of. Flashing with regular odin or mobile odin makes no difference. Also wiping dalvik does not help either.

You have to flash the stock kernel back.
I know that because that is what I did. I just wanna know if there is any way to get a repack kernel working so I can at least have a decent recovery.

Nope. Since we don't have source, we can't have a fully working CWM.

There is an FL14 repack with Agats recovery however when I flash it through odin/mobile odin I get the darn usb sd card storage errors with my paid apps. Also it makes apps on my sd card disappear as well.

I get that... It is a known issue. There is no fixing it til sprint/samsung release source. Just keep reflashing back the stock kernel for daily use, and all will be good.
