[Q] Back to Stock Recovery Without Data Loss? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Is it possible to go back to the stock recovery without losing data? I would like to keep my TW backup up to date.
I don't remember if you can just ODIN the stock recovery and not have any issues. If anyone can chime in it would be nice.

You can reload the stock recovery without losing any data.
If you do not have it you can get an Odin flashable stock recovery here.

I'd just make a cwm backup of your stock rom. Then go back and fourth. Its what I do without any issues at all. I just have to clear my play store data as I have market problems after but that's it.

Yes I have a back up so I don't need to flash a stock kernel or will the back up will do the job

When you restore from the nandroid backup you'll get the kernel you had before. So you'll have the stock kernel again when you restore

If you have the twrp u will have get back to stock recovery... most probably u'll have to:
Flash the chinafines stock rom from the original android dev thread, run the triangle away app to reset the modif counter, run the unroot from the super su app) & only after that to boot into stock recovery to reset the whole phone.... once thats done the phone is a virgin)

3. Ran triangle away.
4. Used su app to full unroot.
5. Booted into stock recovery and wiped everything.

Make sure you're using stock kernel as well as stock recovery when you're using triangle away.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
That reminds me. Its time to make a completely stock backup before I go flash crazy again. That total stock backup can save alot of time:thumbup: cheers gentlemen:beer:

If the counter continues to reset to 1 something is not 100 stock. I would recommend flashing a stock Odin package, root it, run triangleaway and see if that worked.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
I had this problem with my s3. What I eventually did was triangle restore. Odin restore. Then before it rebooted for the first time, I went to recovery and wiped everything and factory reset it.
I had to battery pull before it rebooted.

GB27 root?? (same as previous leak)

I just updated my phone through Kies. I would like to have root back obviously, but not sure if that has been posted anywhere.
It is the same as the leak. You could have just stayed...

I was stock rooted ICS before. Didn't see a diff was done.
To get root back can I flash the one from the repository with no data? Or is there a simpler solution

You could always flash a recovery then flash superuser and flash back to stock kernel.

(Sorry if I'm asking a repetitive question.)
Does the leak GB27 match the official GB27 that just came out?
I'm on FL24 stock + root. I don't want to use flash an unrooted FL24, download Kies, update to GB27, then root it.
Wondering if I can just use the One-Click method from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191954
so I can avoid doing all that work and still have the same result.
I'm only asking because I read that GB27 repartitions the storage (or something like that).
I did what you didn't want to do. Some people stated that they are the same but I don't know for sure. I'm having problems accessing the settings and I wanted root back so I just flashed the no data on top of all this. My settings is still messed up and crashes.

I just updated my phone to latest JB as well, I was previously FL24 ICS Stock Root.
Have you figured out if you can use the same Odin Root?

Did you unroot it before updating? Did you just let Kies do it while rooted and had no problems.
