it s in /data/app

Couldn't you just install it, and then pull the apk back out of /data/app? Is it really that important that it doesn't install?

Integrate apps to custom rom some help!.

Hi im using OD's rom, but i wanna make some personal stuff to it.
I have found out to integrate apks to the zip file, but after i integrate the apps and install it on my desire, it does not show the files on the market under downloads.
Is there any way to let them show up in there so i could uninstall them if thats what i want?.
Download any app from the market and they should show up... you are putting them in /data/app and not /system/app aren't you?

Thanks for the reply.

Seems not to work they dont install automatic when installing the custom rom?
bump!!!!
bump.......
Put them in /data/app. They will show up. If they don't, you're doing something wrong.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
ehm, okay.
I took opendesire 3.6.0. i opend it with winrar and made the folder data and app folder, in the root of the zip file okay? its not there on standard. And then i putted the files in in zip file and signed it.
It does not work. Is there a guide somewhere?. Have trying to search but no luck yet.
bump!.......
when you install an app without using the market, there is no market link for the market to... well... link to.
I use aTrackDog to keep track of my constant backups and flashes etc. it even provides you a market link if you want to update.
Have a look at Titanium Backup as a different way of keeping market links. when restored it can restore the market link necessary for it to show up in the market downloads section
If there is no /data/app folder in the ZIP then simply adding it won't work as the update script won't look for it and flash them - you'd need to ask AdamG (or someone else) to add the lines to the script to make the ROM flash that information as well...

[Q] Q: Removal of HTC Hub

hi,
i was wondering how to remove the HTC Hub on my phone
i have the HiApk sensefun GSv1.1 installed on my phone
its rooted and have the alpharev boot recovery installed,
and if it will have any long-term effect on my phone, since sense.com/htc hub isnt available for my desire nor do i think HTC would ever care to make it available
Regards
Jimmy S.
you can uninstall it via titanium backup.
for other methods i'm not sure. if you have root explorer installed you can see all .apk's in "system/sd/app_s" folder. but i don't know if you can uninstall it by just deleting it's .apk file, or is there more to it....
i'll try with titanium, there is no ext partition for my ROM, and i have checked the app folder on the phone, and it isnt there... uninstalled alot of other HTC crap that way...
Edit:
titanium backup worked, thx alot.
oh, right...maybe you should be s-off to see system folders...glad it worked...
but now i'm curious. can apps be uninstalled just by deleting .apk's from system/sd/app_s folder? i figured, better to ask if somebody knows this, before i try and sc**w up my rom and have to flash it all over again...
thx in advance...
p.s. sorry for hijacking your thread...
yes it can be done, i found an application that can sign the package
so all i had to do was open zip archive, delete which apps i didnt want (i deleted mostly the theme's they take up around 8-9MB)and then just use an application called auto-sign to resign the zip archive
copy it to my phone, and just installing in recovery....
very easy...

moving apps from system/app

I have a few apps like facebook google plus and google maps which are by default installed in XperiaS.
I am rooted stock ics. 45 build.
Can I remove or delete the applications from system/app cause any problems?
And I want to install them from playstore if I need them.
So anyone tell me which.directory does the app we install from playstore are installed so that i.can move apps from sys/app in that folder..
Yes you can and yes, you can easily uninstall/move them.
Use root explorer to move the app/apk that you not want to move from System/app to your SD Card Folder.
Just make sure not to delete or move any system apk, that is required to run the OS.
More Specific instructions by Redstarr1 below- so follow it, u shud b fine.

So auni already told you you can remove apps like Facebook, G+ and Gmaps easily from /system/app. If you want the app back as a "normal" app, you can:
- copy those apps to /data/app, I'd go with one of the following options though
- copy those apps to your external storage and install them like you would any other app (so once you copied the app outside of /system, press it and a dialog will open)
- delete those apps and install them from Play Store.

(TRICK) How to stop Google Play Store self update

Apparently this method does not work anymore
I have an another method too #wickdst0ne
Just create a folder named com.android.vending-1.apk, and put it on /data/app/ folder.
This also works for Google Play Services: com.google.android.gms-1.apk and com.google.android.gms-2.apk on the same /data/app folder.
If the apk isn't integrated in the system, these folders will make it back to factory version.
Sorry for my English guys
