To be sure look for /etc/init.d if that is there you have init.d sub-system.
I am using the CM7 KANG Juggernaut V. 5 and can say it has had init.d since inception.
I have had issues with system tuner and writing the script to the folder, but it seems to be an app issue as I have to choose the init.d option a second time and don't get the action failed toast [had me wondering the first time too] Not sure if maybe there is not enough delay to establish SU as it is running its commands or something else [total shot in the dark I have not seen any source for this app.
For most of the tweaks [sdcard included it is best to choose on boot complete in case you have a competing init.d script installed by the ROM you are using [juggernaut sets SDCard values this way and may be why you think you don't have init.d]. Either use a file manager/text viewer to view the scripts and remove any that have sd card tweaks and then re-choose the init.d option in system tuner to have it re-create its script or choose on boot completion.
Also, you may want to review fauxclock [found on XDA boards and not android market 'Play market [same thing]] just use forum search. That is the app I have had better reactions to adjustments to both speeds and voltage [open FauxClock and swipe from right to left to see voltage adjustment screen it is there]. I personally find my phone fully functions at -75mv [global] without any restarts. Take it slow though try 12.5 wait 10 - 20 min for any restarts boot loops as you casually [or not] use the phone and then increment each 12.5mv step while waiting the 10 - 20 min during some usage [otherwise phone may remain idle and you wont see any restarts until you start to tax the CPU and/or GPU and when you may be doing that might be a time you don't want to have a restart ;-) ]
That is to not say System Tuner is not awesome I do also have the pro version of that for the enable all CPUS [on boot complete] and the SDCard Tweaks [again on boot completion]. Combined with Chainfire 3D [again pro and beta egl driver installed there is a free version as well] and the Supercharger V6 memory usage and OOM tweaking script [search XDA forums] my phone screams!
I have double stock battery life [without any data service tweaks like juice defender [cant have data going in and out need it on always], my screen does not have any of the scrolling stutter I sometimes saw when using stock ROM and I am playing GTA3 anniversary and Deadspace at full graphics quality with absolutely no lag and perfect graphics!!
Also, let me stress these tip and tricks are what I HAVE USED ON MY PERSONAL PHONE I CAN NOT GUARANTEE THAT YOUR PHONE WILL WORK EXACTLY THE SAME OR BE 100% ERROR FREE IF YOU COPY MY SETTINGS as WHEN YOU OVERCLOCK EACH INDIVIDUAL DEVICES CAN REACT IN ITS OWN WAY. ALWAYS RUN FULL NANDROID SYSTEM BACKUPS WHENEVER YOU DO ANY CHANGES AND TAKE TWEAKING IN STEPS DON'T JUST GO TO ONE EXTREME OR ANOTHER AND THEN WONDER WHY YOU HAVE ISSUES. TAKE YOUR TIME AND TEST EVERYTHING.

Well, fauxclock will not adjust my CPU speeds at all it is stock at 1350 max and 392 min, whenever I try to move the sliders it bounces right back to the min max. I think this is because of when I first set my CPU speeds with synergy as my kernel. Writing to synergy's init.d was problem less, but after installing faux .10 or darkside rc2 the init.d was totally unstoppable by any program.

Eugene also mentioned that I'd you are changing the io scheduler to do a hot reboot to prevent lag, which I'd pretty much what my whole concept of writing the CPU gov and io sched to the init.d to prevent an unsettling situation for the io. Oh yeah does anyone have any suggestions to what I should set the cache size to my sd tweaks? Thanx. if anyone knows where to find the sd scripts or the CPU scripts and how to prevent it from applying its own settings and applying the setting from the third party apps like fauxclock, system tuner pro, and xan's voltage control. Also if anyone is having success with another busy box than the ones that are coming with the roms please post the busy box version. I'm beastly at egger end of my wits with the init.d.

Well I listen to what you said and made three etc/init.d folder permissions writable through root explorer after changing the folder to read/write with the button at the top of the screen. now three only problem I have is the io scheduler, fir some reason the phone is intercepting my attempts to make a script startup change. I impure voltage control had made a error toast sung mkdir read only -p failed, which I have no I idea what that mean or where its located, anybody have any training when it comes to this?

If I see my CPU sometimes rising to 1828 max even though the app says 1350 max should I try to use a different app in replacement to the current one and since you should only use one app.

[Discuss]Tweaks to make your Gio faster

There are many different ways to tweak a android phone in XDA, here I want to share about what I did to my Gio
1) Rom: CM7 by ItachiSama 20121225 Nightly + U235 Kernel by farzad.u235
2) CM7 Performance setting: Disabled Compcache, surface dithering, Use 16bit transparency
3) CPU setting: 245Mhz - 844Mhz + SmartAssV2
4) Script: V6Supercharger U9RC8.2 & 3G TurboCharger, CronMod-INT2EXT+ for 500MB sd-ext
5) Swap: 64MB swap file in sd-ext
6) Scheduled Fast Engine Flush every 3 hour by Script Manager
7) App Quarantine for Apps that hardly use but keep start itself in the background
I think that's all, any other suggestion?

Usually when i use cm7 i only use these settings
CM7 Performance setting: Disabled Compcache, surface dithering
CPU setting: 245Mhz - 800Mhz + LagFree
And the rom is smooth enough for me

With cm7:
Ondemand + noop
245 min / 864 max mhz
Adrenaline engine (or tweakzv6 + default.prop from adrenaline engine) + cronmod int2ext4+
Init.d: 98netforks_tweak + loopy smoothness + 14enable_touchscreen_1 script
Pimpmyrom apk with only ondemand governor tweaks enabled + entropy set on boot.
And with cm9 I only use supercharger with patched services.jar and with latest cm10.1 no tweaks because lots of problems with patched services.jar and supercharger script and other scripts like mmb or adrenaline engine works only for 50%.

Are i think not that common.If there are scrips procedures... The thread will gain a lot of attention

For swap, you can install a app called Swapper for Root,
then use it to create a swap file in sd-ext, then use terminal:
su
swapon /sd-ext/swap.swp
And App Quarantine is just a app.

After trying a whole bunch of tweaks on a whole bunch of roms , i got to the conclusion that it`s not worth it on the long run to use them , my personal opinion only. If the rom has a CPU manager i usually just set the min to 245 and maybe maybe i switch to smartassv2 and that`s all. If the rom doesn`t have that included i just leave it like that , like AOSP roms for example , they are great exactly as they are.

agreed...after 1 year of using gio and after trying several roms/scripts, in cm 7.2 at least all it is needed to be done: governor smartassv2, 245-800 and nothing, NOTHING else...the phone is as smooth as butter..no swap, no scripts, no overclock, no lag (except for when updating/installing something, but this is normal even in full desktop PCs)

Yes it is just like a PC, and the more Apps you use and the more resources they require, the more power is needed.
I have 336MB Apps on my Gio(only 3 games, less than 40MB), if there isn't any tweaking available I think I am using a better phone months ago.
Even a simple minfree tweak on a stock 2.3.6 rom by Apps like "AutoKiller Memory Optimizer", the difference is pretty noticeable.
And about the smooth as butter thing, I cannot agree with you, if only you are comparing Gio with something like HTC Hero.
Just sharing my opinion

I am not using gio as my primary phone, i own an htc one s.. ofc, there is a big difference between a single core 800 mhz and a dual core 1.7 ghz.. still, on gio i have no lag, hence i call it smooth as butter.. no, i am not playing games which most likely are NOT smooth, nor am i using on gio cpu/graphic extensive apps like photoshop or whatever.. i am not one of the guys complaining that their 1000 $ 20 years old car is not able to go from 0 to 100 in 3 seconds like a Ferrari.. yes, starting opera from sd-ext is taking much longer than on the htc, but i was talking about the snappiness of the phone during menus, doing stuffs, how fast reacts to inputs, commands and all that, with stock settings and no scripts and "optimizers".. maybe it matters the specific ROM each one uses? i dont know what the minfree values are in my ROM, but i have no issues with memory, no need to have an autokiller (which by the way is absolutely useless unless you disable the services..it autokills programs which start again right away, i am talking about facebook, google`s one, etc) .. but it is good that we disagree, this is how the world evolves

I admit I am just trying to push it to the limit
It spends hours to trying/wiping/rebooting to squeeze 1%, many would just go buy a new phone.
And some people are still trying to make CM10.1 fully working on Gio

Some people (like me) are still dreaming for a better phone. So yeah have to live with what i have now (galaxy gio)

the best tweaks that you can install is the combination of fly-on mod 1.4(or later)+Fly-On ram manager gamers edition+ full gpu rendering

Since version v1.02 BFQv6r1 has been added and set as default scheduler. Advantages of BFQ:
Low latency for interactive applications - Whatever the background load is, the disk is virtually as responsive as if it was idle. Normally applications experience high latencies or become unresponsive until the workload terminates (especially SSDs)
Low latency for soft real-time applications - soft real-time applications, such as audio and video players or audio and video-streaming applications. These applications do not suffer from almost any glitch due to the background workload.

Phone freeze when trying to pickup

Im using badass gov, default freq, and sio.
I have to hard reset to get passed the boot screen.
The kernel back to the default setting (Ondemand gov)

Probably you have fast charge enabled... It works excelent for me.
Check with:
cat /sys/kernel/fast_charge/force_fast_charge

0 means it is disabled. Are you testing in windows? I always use Linux, windows just in the office but I will try with it.

There is no best rom. You must test them an choose what's the best for you. And if you want to play it's the best to stay on gb. And 4.x isn't only ics.

Also clocking to 1.6 and performance will lock your processor at 1.6 GHz or the max clock speed which will eventually fry your CPU which will mean bye bye xperia

Yes, I tweaked the govenor to Scale more frequently and make it stay at higher freqencys a bit more, So in English its Better at Saving Battery when phone isnt in use and Better in Performance when Using It for Things!

The cpu and GPU locked in a certain frequency power can be achieved not so serious and be fluent game approach.
The first machine to ROOT then RE Manager to set inside the file!
1 Open the SYS-Devices-system-CPU-cpu0-cpufreq-cpuinfo_block_freq , use a text editor to open, modify the value of 600,000 or 800,000 or 700,000 can which is locked cpu frequency, save and exit after completion of editing,

The translate is not best possible... I tried to change cpu_max_frequency (or something like this) from 150000 to more, but it will restore to 150000 right after i change the value. I also changed scaling_cpu_num to 4, but it just reduced my phone perfomance.

In SYS-Devices-system-CPU-cpu0-cpufreq-cpuinfo_block_freq I have "zero", so I really shoulf change it to 600000?

For best performance in games. Go to root directory-sys-devices-system-cpu-cpu0-cpufreq/
1.Open file scaling_cpu_lock_num. Change value from 0 to 4. Save.
2. Open file scaling_ddr_block_freq. Change values from 0 to 450000. Save.
3. Open file scaling_gpu_block_freq. Change values from 0 to 480000. Save.
4. In power management set the power mode to normal.
5. Go to settings-application management. Open settings for your desired ( setting were you can chose to move application to sd card ) apk and select the performance mode.
This should help running games smooth. I tried it on nfs most wanted. The difference between stock B119 performance and this mod is huge. But I somehow think that this also has a big hit on battery life. Havent tested yet.

I don't know why, but this helps me to make NFS work better than stock settings:
1. Root
2. Install "No-frills CPU"
3. Set max CPU freq to 1Ghz /not 1.5Ghz/
4. Set governor to K3hotplug
ps - battery drain is lower when Governor is set to "Ondemand", but there is a little lag, which is not a problem when use the phone only for calls.

Did not help with Antutu Score. Got only 14000 when using this. In fact Antutu cannot be ran in perfomance mode or it crashes, but score is still low.

This setting not add more points to antutu! But the games running really smoothly.

Game runs very smooth ! But phone temp. goes to 42.0C … is it normal ? Battery drain when gaming is increased but game runs smooth. My battery goes down 8% in 10mins while playing asphalt 8 on high graphics..

Doesn't work. I used FPS meter and in games it gives same result every time (with or without this setting). I think that it's visual effect of smoothing because the proccessor becomes hot slowly and lags appear later than usual.

When phone is in standby or in very light use it will not decrease quickly, but when you use heavy 3d launcher and watch videos / play games in example, it does. VERY quickly!
