[Q] HOX stuck at white HTC Splash Screen after using PimpMyRom - HTC One X

Hello fellow Android-Users,
I'm having a problem with my rooted HOX. I've been using the IceColdJelly-Rom for a few days and after using PimpMyRom this morning, my HOX is stuck at the white HTC Splash Screen. I guess i must have choosen some settings, that don't work with my HOX. My first guess is that it is something about the CPU-Kernel or anything related since i checked some options regarding it?
Unfortunatly i cant even boot into recovery. I tried using adb-tools but "adb devices" shows no devices even through windows is beeping when i plug the usb-cable in.
I'm a little desperate because all the threads i have seen mention that they still could boot into recovery.
I can hard-reboot it holding the Power-Button until the buttons are flashing, but holding volume-Down does'nt do anything while rebooting.
Thanks to the unremoveable Battery, I cant even turn it off. It always reboots.
Any suggestions?

Download Recovery
adb devices doesn't show any device cause you are not fully booted, you neeed to reflash the recovery by typing:
Code:
fastboot flash reocvery path/to/recovery.img
then you should be able to boot to recovery and flash a new rom...

Thank you very much for the answer!
using the fastboot commands results in "waiting for device". I checked google and people said that the HTC Drivers must be installed, so I reinstalled the HTC Sync Suite and rebooted Windows and the HOX. I am still getting "Wating for device"...
Edit: I will try to install the android SDK to see if thats the problem.
Edit2: Ok, I've read some discussions and followed there instructions but sofar nothing worked.
I have installed the Android SDK with the Tools and Platform-Tools, installed HTC Drivers and tried using the original Laptop where i unlocked the bootloader. Nothing worked.
The Phone is listed in the Device Manager of Windows in several Categorys such as a harddrive disc, a cd disc drive and as the mobile device "E:\".
I am running out of ideas what might be the problem...

Have you tried "fastboot erase cache" without the commas and then see if you can get into recovery

I can't get pass the white HTC Splash Screen. Holding Volume-Down while turning the phone on makes nothing. Tried this several times. The Phone just makes the starting sound and regulates the Screenbrightness.

That's why it says <waiting for device>... So you're not able to access to bootloader? This is almost impossible... Keep Pressed power+vol down

After turning my phone literally 40 Times on and off trying to get into the Bootloader there is only on thing left to say: Thank you, sir.
I then followed your previous instructions and was able to flash a new boot.img and reinstall another rom.
I was already accepting the fact that my beloved HOX would only be a expensive candle til the power runs out :silly:
I am going to dedicate a beer to you later.
Really appreciating the help. Thanks!

[Q] S-ON, invalid recovery/system partitions, boot loop, bricked device?

Hi all,
Was attempting to root my desire HD and install CM7. Somehow, I managed to screw up the phone. I was using ACE so at some point I had root, and was able to flash different partitions (which is where I screwed up). Here are the facts:
1. Phone boot loops
2. There's no working recovery partition (I manually flashed that when I did have root), and a completely busted system partition
3. the phone is still S-ON (not sure how this stayed this way) - which means I can't fastboot
I tried downloading and installing the stock ROM, and it loaded, and installed - but then neither 'recovery' nor 'factory reset' do anything. Both still lead to boot loops...
From researching the web, I understand that:
1. If I don't have S-OFF - I can't fastboot, and even the PD98img.zip won't install
2. I can't get S-OFF without having a working system first (either via HTC's tools or some root'ing app).
Am I SOL, or does anyone have ideas of what I should try?
thx.
Blake

You haven't tried running an RUU yet? It restores your phone to factory state. Best way is to flash an RUU and start over with the Advanced Ace Hack Kit. I'm pretty sure you didn't read the manual properly and follow it word for word. By RUU I don't mean the PD98IMG.zip, I mean the exe file. Connect your phone to the computer and run the exe.

I tried - but i got the 'failed to communicate with your phone, make sure USB is connected and phone is in debug mode'...As I understand it, running the exe requires that phone to be in a working state. I only have hboot now...
Am I mistaken?
In hboot, press power on fastboot. When FASTBOOT shows up in a red background, then connect it to the computer and try running the RUU.
If that doesn't work download the htc sync (drivers). You need to switch of the antivirus before installing. The program will prompt you before.

Ok - I managed to get the right RUU from shipped-roms, and I used it to flash the ROM. It took a few mins, and then told me that it was successful.
However, I'm still stuck in a boot loop...
Any ideas?

Thanked you by mistake. Tell me, how long are you waiting after turning on the phone before considering it to be boot looping? For any ROM, the first boot always takes time. Not too long, but a few minutes. In that time it will just show the HTC splash screen. This happens because the dalvik-cache has to be built and the time it takes depends on the number of apps. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you're assuming too soon that it's bootlooping. Wait for some time and see.

One X dead APX in device manager

I was just browsing my phone when something came up on the phone about an update, it wasn't the rom or htc update, then as I thought about what to do the screen went blank back light still on, I let it for a minute or so in the hope it would resolve itself but nothing, so I held the power button to reset the phone turned off and since then I have been unable to turn it on again, in the device manager when I connect the phone it says APX some times dropbox will show and ask if I want to scan for photo's
Help the phone is rooted and I'm worried about the warranty!!!

Stop worrying about the warranty. As far as a problem like this goes, you don't have one.
You say you held down power to reboot and now you can't turn on but you go on to say drop box sometimes works? Can you elaborate?

It came on once and said there were no photos to update, it hasn't come up since, all I get is APX, if I hold power it goes off for second then APX comes up in device manager, I've also installed the apx drivers and I can use nvflash but I wouldn't know the first thing about what to do here, nv flash does work though.

Could you explain to everybody here what you did exactly ? Might be interesting for a few people here !
1 : Did it happen just by waiting for some time ?
2 : Did it happen by rebooting the phone ?
3 : It went into recovery when i .......
through APX mode we can flash bootloader i think, so if we'll know how to use it properly (how to enter in it, work with it, and exit from it), we won't need s-off!
so if somebody came out from apx, it's a good starting

By rest do you mean with it charging or not? As I am now having this problem and need a way out!
I think its very difficult to flash stuff with nvflash on a protected apx mode.
I got out of this for leaving the phone on charge for a short while, then whilst still on charge powering on and it came back to life!

In the midlle of installation, about 22%, when my HDH rebooted, said error, now my phone won't even boot antything, only when I put it to charge it shows orang led indicator, and after some time it shows black screen with silver HTC screen.. :/ Desperate, any kind of help, suggestion please..

did it automatically download the downgrade ruu? Or is that one you downloaded yourself? Did you disconnect it thinking it had finished or something?

Thanks for answering..
When I've got my phone, it was stock 2.3.5, i've unlocked bootloaders, downloaded ace hack kit, rooted, instaled cwm, s-off, installed couple of custom roms. Then, i've locked my phone via fastboot oem lock. Today, I wanted to unlock it again, to instal sabsa prime, but when i reach fastboot oem get_identifier_token it points to some kind of bootloader err error command. When i started the ace kit it demanded the downgrade, but, when the downgrade is downloaded, pushed to phone, phone restart to hboot, but wont flush it. So, i wanted to downgrade on my own. I've downloaded as i said ruu, started flashing, and thats pretty much it.. It showed error, i havent disconnected it on my own.
I can only connect phone by pressing volume up and power, i have a blinking orange led indicator and it reports as qualcomm cdma technologies msm to my computer..
i thought that aahk can only be used for the stock rom.. if you already have s-off and have cwm, just flash the new rom in recovery..

i cant enter to hboot, i cant start phone, only when i push volume up + power i have orange led blinking, and when i attach phone to pc, pc recognize it as a qualcomm cdma technologies..
from stock rom, unlocked bootloader via htcdev, used ace AAHK, instaled few custom roms, then relocked bootloader via fastboot (fastboot oem lock), then flashed ruu RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed. After that i wanted to unlock bootloader again, in fastboot got the (bootloader) [ERR] command error !!!, when runed AAHK, AAHK needed a downgrade, downgrade was downloaded, pushed to phone, but when phone restarted to hboot, downgrade coulndt be flashed, it shows PD98IMG-GB2 as a wrong image or something. Then I downloaded RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.1_Radio_12.21.60.12_26.02.00.09_M_test_148662, started flash, my phone rebooted, and instead rebooting to ruu (black screen), phone just shuted down, ruu on pc showed error, that is it. I've tried to power on phone on different ways, but nothing, just once after i plugged it to pc, showd me black screen with silver letters, now won't even show that. Only with volume up + power, with orange led blinking, and somethimes, after some time attached to pc, phone connects, but how i figured out from computer managment, like a mass storage. Hope you understanded what i said.. :/

Unable to get into bootloader or recovery mode, stuck at white HTC logo screen

Hey everyone,
I have read the various topics with a similar title but none helped.
Here is my problem, I bought a used HTC Desire on eBay. It booted just fine on the first start, then I did a factory reset (from within the Android system menu).
Since then, I'm stuck at the white screen with the green HTC logo. I have tried to get into bootloader mode by removing the battery, holding vol down and power, but it just goes straight to the white screen again.
Also connected the phone to the pc, but adb isn't picking up anything...
Any ideas?

Then you'll have to flash a RUU to make it work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772499
It's official HTC Firmware. Your phone will boot after this.
So:
1. Install HTC Sync.
2. Download and extract the RUU.exe from the zip (It's somewhere in there)
3. Run the exe while you connect your phone in fastboot (Power+Back)
4. Wait for it to install

Weird.
This may be the reason:
Now, that may not sound too bad to some of you, but there's more: the 2.3 RUU update is limited regionally, as well. It's not available to users in Germany, North America, South America, South Korea, or Japan.

I noticed that the device was "unlocked", so I did "fastboot oem lock" and it was "relocked".
Then the RUU update went through - nearly. At the very end if failed again and now I am stuck at a black screen with the silver HTC logo and triangles in every corner.

But now I have a bootloop, device starts, vibrates 1 time, waits for 3 seconds, and then vibrates 7 times. And restarts...
Ok. Tests are done.
According to the screenshot above and the 7 vibrations, you have a radio brick. It's a brick that can hardly be overcome.
The only solution is flashing the RUU and hoping that the phone will eventually boot.
That's why I don't buy second hand phones.

freecer did it, was able to flash the 2.3 RUU again successfully. But now I'm back at the bootloop, but now, it simply does vibrate once (no more 7 vibrations) and reboots after some seconds.
So what can I do now? RUU flashed successfully, I'm running out of ideas...
and again the freezer did it, put it in, normally started via POWER button, it booted right through into Android.
Well, let's see if it keeps running now or if this overheating issue also exists in normal operation mode...
Thanks so much for you help so far, the freezer hint saved this device and hopefully will make my gf very happy tomorrow
Hold on I thought it was some pvt1 devices that had overheating issues.
Thought it was fixed on your newer ones. Then again I've never had a problem with my pvt1 desire flashed both hboot and find countless times.

it is a PCT3 device.
but the overheating-reboot issue is rendering it useless. I can use it just fine outside (-2° currently) but as soon as I'm inside, boot-loop...
Anything I can do from a hardware perspective to fix that? Sending it in for repair/replacement is not an option, it's simply not worth the cost.
do you think installing a custom rom of any kind might help?

It's a motherboard fault. If you don't send it to repair, you just got yourself an "Ice-Phone", or a very complex paper holder.
i think a custom rom would help a small bit, like the rom in abaaaabbbb63 sig (mildwild redux) because its small and lite unlike a sense rom. therefor it mite not overheat as quick or as often. but thats only a guess. the only dodgy thing is trying to get ur phone s-off or rooted because if ur phone overheats in the middle of the s-off/rooting progress u could brick ur phone. plus charge ur phone using ur computer coz it uses less power and the phone does'nt heat up as much as plugging into the wall.

HTC One X 10 minutes Black screen after TURN ON or RESTART

Good day everybody!
My device is:
HTC One X
CID: T-MOB101
HBOOT: 1.36.0000
BL: UNLOCKED
it started after sending ADB command (adb reboot recovery) to phone while it was ON. Phone turned off, just after several minutes it turned on. But not recovery. Since that it takes about 10-20 minutes to reboot or turn on phone (just black screen after POWER button pressed or RESTART command given). And it's heating. I can enter bootloader by pressing POWER and VOLUME- key, and holdin VOLUME- key until it turns on screen. After that I flashed HBOOT by entering RUU mode, but no result. If someone had this problem before, please I need help!

Did you try the One X all in one kit?
Try this, put the phone in the bootloader and perform this fastboot command
Fastboot erase cache
Then unhook the usb cable and enter the recovery.

Probably, you didn't understand me...
I can enter bootloader, I can enter recovery, I can flash ROM, I can even enter RUU mode to flash HBOOT and I can erase CACHE. I've tried them ALL!
The problem is - whenever phone goes to restart it won't turn on for about 10-20 minutes, just black screen and heating. After 10-20 minutes screen turns on and HTC logo appears for 3-5 minutes, then starts loading of OS.
If you haven't see it before, you won't understand...
I sense a hardware fault here...

You said and i qoute
not recovery.....so i assumed you could not enter the recovery !
Then you should have stated it a bit more clear in the first post !
And you have no idea what i know about the hox and what i have seen ! You think my thanks meter is over 3000 for doing nothing. What's up with people on xda these days. Can't handle help that's given with the provided info. I think im going to quit xda.
No offense to you.....its more of a general rant.

Sorry about it... I'm so nervous because of phone...This is first time when I can't solve problem by myself.
So, what you advice to do with phone?
Well as V said, its likely a hardware failure at some point. You say you tried it all, no avail !
The only thing you can try once more is a factory reset from the bootloader. After that its off for repair. Try to get the phone to stock if you still can with the stock nandroid backup, stofk recovery and relock the bootloader. Best chance of claiming warranty.
yes,now it happen to me..grrrr.. after i use camera, suddenlly its stuck..so i off the phone, after thats,i try on again but screen is going black..i can t do anythings...cant..1st time happen to me..
I had something similar..since jb I can not boot with the normal 1500 mhz...if I boot the phone gets hot and restart ..I reflashed a ics..I can boot with 1500 again...so I made a kernel that boot with 1300. Mhz now all is Okey again...maybe its worth to try..look in my signature the s e kernel

You are extremely valuable to XDA Hofs! I cannot count how often i have seen you give valuable input (specific answers, long guides, great clues, etc). Just wanted to let you know And people can be dicks sometimes.. Sadly enough.
Kind Regards
