N7105 ALJ3 Post Mortem - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Singapore N7105 came pre-loaded with ALIJ Singapore firmware and works well with U-Mobile in Malaysia which is non-LTE telco which is still fine as i was able to get H+ with 12mbps download speed.
And i was able to root the ALIJ with CF's auto-root without any triangle sign appearing but custom count increased by 1.
Then i saw ALJ3 released for singapore and i flashed it with ODIN hoping it would wipe but it was a non-wipe. So after flashing ALJ3, i lost root and somehow reloading CF's autoroot no longer works and i noticed my data is mostly showing GPRS; only 3G and H+ occasionally.
Reverting back to ALIJ.
Anyone else with similar issue?

Wrong Forum ?

There is a problem with the LJ3 rom.

Sir Do Not Post These Type of Threads In The Development Section. Moved & Thank You..

My bad for not knowing which forum to post this sharing of knowledge in.

Also I stand corrected on rooting ALJ3 with CF's auto root. Re flashed after clean wipe using stock recovery and auto root works. But still had issues with 3G signals.
Decided to go with ALJ4 (Hong Kong) with clean wipe and auto root it without any network issues.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2

we are sharing the same forum with N7100. xixixixi....
ALJ3 Singapore Telco firmware, can be rooted using the T889 root method.
I didn't use the CF-root, and so far work fine. 4G connection is still there.
And ALJ3 also can be rooted by using mskip tools. I've tried alrd, and it works. :good:
The only problem I have, is no custom ROM yet in XDA specifically for N7105.

wifi not connecting after rooting?

I can search and enter the password but it stops at obtaining IP address. It still connects on my other devices so its not the wifi itself. I just rooted using the latest method with Odin. I tried the unroot with Odin method (which didn't even unroot) just went back to factory kernel (ok?). Also km not sure how to get my old version of Swype back so I can completely 4ever if I wanted to. Any advice would be awesome, thank you I'm advance.
Odin crawrj's odexed or deodexed with Busybox and root....depending if you will be using themes..then Odin bubby's pulled stock kernel or Chris41g's LoSt kernel or his stock with CWM kernel. I had same issue but with 4G and this method fixed it right up
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
I'd like to be stock, with a "stable"kernel.
I'm having a similar issue. I rooted for the first time this weekend, and my wifi will no longer connect. It starts scanning for networks, but then just turns off after a few seconds.
I messed up while rooting, so I had to unroot, update to EK02, then rooted it. I'm also running LauncherProPlus, if that helps.
Its been my experience that flashing a different modem version will alter everything from 4G to wifi to your connection strength to the sprint network. There is a good thread in the stickies section explaining how to do this.

Sorry went out lol ya...installed its 4.3 Canadian Wind Mobile all working fine. Odd is in the pull down settings in 4.3 no option to turn off moble data its like it comes on automatic if not on wifi saves a step. If you needed it off you can always do it in settings like always.
Wonder if we can flash this radio to M919

Problems with the update (?)
I have been reading online about various issues plaguing the Galaxy S4 from upgrading to android 4.3. Some of the links that I have visited:
Samsung Galaxy S4 Users Experiencing Problems After Updating to Android 4.3 (Geeky Gadgets)

(Sorry I cannot post links yet; please search these titles on Google)
Are any of you experiencing some of the issues discussed in the links (e.g. battery drain, inconsistent Wi-Fi, etc.)
I have received the notification but did not upgrade yet.

Will I lose my waranty without flashing custom room or custom recovery if I just root my S4 SGH-M919V?

I didnt noticed any issues with 4.3 upgrade beside loosing the mobile on/off button in samsung pull down menu which pisses me off a bit, it has been replaced by reader mode, WTF. Good move Samsung, I will remember it...
Samsung knox seems partially installed, few of its processes are running aint sure if it's totally functional. Its bloatware to my opinion, should be optional, another thing ill remember Samsung...

I don't think it has wi-fi calling. I think its just the stock firmware slightly modified with a custom modem for WIND Mobile and other stuff, like changing the 3G into a 4G icon, etc. Wi-fi calling was never included with the WIND Mobile Galaxy S4. I don't see why they would add it now without some big announcement.

Poorer battery life (?)
I just recently updated to Stock Android 4.3 M919VVLUEMK5 on my WIND Mobile Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919V) and I have noticed that the battery life is significantly poorer than when I had both Stock Android 4.2.2 M919VVLUAMG1 and Rooted Android 4.2.2 M919VVLUAMG1.
I am wondering whether or not it was just me that was experiencing this issue.
Screenshots for battery drain.
I was using Flipboard and listening to music at the same time.
On the plus side, the phone charges ridiculously fast.
Edit: New screenshot showing battery charging:
Edit 2: Battery drain while idle is fixed by temporarily restarting the ohone

Once you root 4.3 (with Knox), your flash counter goes to "Knox warranty valid 0x1" and that's it (you are out of warranty, with no possibility (up to date) of reversing the status.

[Q] VirginROM v2.5.5 (4.4) Radio Issue

I can not figure out how to get my radio to work with VirginROM v2.5.5. I have looked through the development thread for this rom, and have not found any info about people having no network connectivity. What I have found were posts about intermittent LTE issues, which have not solved my issue of connecting to tmobiles network.
This is what I have done:
1. I installed VirginROM 2.5.5 with an older version of CWM.
2. I updated CWM to 6.0.4.4 and installed the rom, which did not work.
3. A friend had a similar network issue with his Note 2 and a kit kat rom. He told me to reinstall the rom again after the initial install, but this did not solve my network connectivity issue.
4. I installed previous versions of virgin rom and then updated to 2.5.5, and I still cannot connect to tmobile.
You need to ODIN flash the mk2 modem.bin file. Search in XDA or the thread to find it.
Sent from my GT-I9505G using Tapatalk
You must flash the modem if you are having any issues otherwise it is pointless for anyone at XDA to help you out since this is a remedy to a widely known problem. Try it first and report back if it persists.
For the hell of it, check your APN settings.

[Q] Bootlooping despite flashing via Odin and installing CWM

Guys here is my problem. I tried to upgrade my Samsung N7105 to 4.3 via OTA and it got stucked on bootloop.
I tried to access recovery mode but it fails, only download mode.
What i did is I downloaded the official 4.3 firmware at SamMobile and flashed it with Odin 3.09
Based on Odin it is successful but im still stuck on bootloop and recovery mode cannot still be accessed.
Tried to root it also and installed CWM to recover. I was able to to access CWM
so i restored factory setting, wipe cache and dalvik cache but still the phone bootloops.
Any suggestions on how to resolve my problem?

Now working cm10.2 but now my next problem is there is no signal. it appeared that imei value is null. how do i repair this? thanks!
By the way after successfully running on cm10.2 I tried to reflash again with stock firmware. bootloop again. i think i will be stuckon using custom roms for now. The only thing I need to address is the no mobile signal problem.
OK so the bootloop problem is done and don't worry there are a lot of amazing custom roms that are based on the stock one and even better features like the note 3 features, as for the imei, please tell me you did an nfs backup if you do, there are a lot of ways you can restore your nfs backup, if you don't have an nfs backup, I don't know what to do.

Sorry was on vacation for a long time. I wasn't able to update this thread.
Problem right now is I forgot to back the EFS so when I flashed CM 10.2
There is no baseband and IMEI is null. Tried to flash n7105 modem but still it still doesn't work
Have read that I should flash stock firmware to fix baseband and IMEI but 4.3 firmwares makes my phone go on bootloop.
Should I wait for 4.4 update? I want my phone to make it usable again.
My phone right now is useless and works like an itouch hahaha

You may try Hurricane modem changer and experiment with various modem versions. It's a longshot but it may help. Try finding very old modem version and flash that.
Hurricane Modem Changer is that an application?
Where to get it? Also, will it there be a possibility that when I flash Official 4.4 kitkat (when released) on my n7105.
Bandwidth and IMEI will be restored? I'm leaning towards to come back to touch wiz though many of you guys might say that a custom rom might be better.
For one thing, the problem in my n7105 started when i upgraded to 4.3 via OTA

No, it's for N7100 only - the modems are completely different (3G vs LTE).
Please read the original post carefully before flashing, if the HC was not protected you could have lost network functions completely.

Im using an n7105 model. Guess this will not work. Any other suggestions?
From what I understand, the quickest solution is to flash stock firmwares however, i'm quite disappointed that
almost all 4.3 firmwares from sam mobile doesn't work in my phone (always bootlooping)
A technician told me that I should wait for the 4.4 kitkat release, since it might work for my phone.
Now my problem is, I need to have the phone operational. so im willing to flash custom roms for the meantime
but the baseband problem is really testing my patience. hehe

It's pretty strange really as stock firmwares are a complete set of bootloader/modem/system that should in theory work perfectly well together without any incompatibility problems. Have you ever tried to install one of them without sdcard and/or simcard installed, maybe you have some leftovers from previous system (Android secure directory) that causes bootloops, also did you completely clean internal sdcard prior to flashing, it may create the same problems as external sdcard.

im not sure if i cleaned the internal sdcard prior to flashing.
It started with the OTA update that failed then I tried to flash stock firmware via odin
do i have to do a pre-requisite before flashing it again? so you are suggesting to remove the simcard and external sd card prior to flashing?

Can't get i337 modem to stick on my M919

Hi all,
I was hoping one of the resident geniuses could help me here because searching and experimenting haven't worked yet. I bought a i337 because I'm on AT&T and when I found I could only run TW roms via SS (it was already on 4.4.2), I bought a M919, and I've got it rooted and running TWRP 2.7.0.1 and some new roms. I've been able to flash i9505 and M919 roms and then an AT&T kernel, but whenever I flash a i337 modem it doesn't take. The baseband continues to show it is on M919 NB4. Can anyone help me understand how to get the i337 modem? I can make and receive calls, but do sometimes see some signal drops and I understand this is the way to go.
Thanks!
I meant to mention I am flashing via recovery, and I understand ODIN may work but that runs the risk of impacting my bootloader (which I think is bad, as i337 is locked and I have a M919 anyway)? Can someone confirm? I'll keep trying recovery zips, but I wonder if it's something in the Tmo NB4 or bootloader keeping it from sticking?
Do not flash i337 modems.. What was the firmware you were on before you started flashing?

The phone came with latest Tmo firmware and the NB4 baseband. I'm running Phoenix ROM now, Ktoonsez kernel. Can't say for sure yet because I just got on this combo, but as I've been testing over last 24 hours I've seen a LOT of my phone dropping signal when the screen locks or sleeps (I think). I get the crossed circle and I have to go into Mobile Networks and have it search for a network to get my cellular signal back. So it isn't the Tmo modem impacting this? Will I get LTE? Are there any better options if the signal keeps dropping short of going back to that bloody i337?
Try flashing fenny's NB4 firmware with Odin, the modem shouldn't be the problem there have been people with same issues running T-Mobile. Flashing firmware should fix it.. Try running stock for a few days and see if you keep getting drops

This really can't be repeated enough.
NEVER flash modems meant for another device. Never.
Ever.
Man, I could swear I've seen folks recommending to do exactly that for all the bands to work properly and for the best signal. Thanks for setting me straight folks!
