[Q] Phone not turning on after using exitrecovery - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

So I was trying to root my phone, but after trying to root my phone using clockworkmod but after the installation every reboot it was starting with the clockworkmod. So after some research i found some exitrecovery.zip that i could run with the clockworkmod.zip so it could fix the boot. But now my phone won't turn on.
I noticed that when i plug it to the usb of my computer the computer detects it, but the phone is not working.
Does anybody knows if there is a way to fix this?
Thanks

Hold the power button down for about 30 seconds. It sounds to me that the phone is actually on right now, but something is wrong with the ROM itself (since the computer is detecting it then it has to be on).
Unplug it from any power source and just hold the power button down. After about 30 seconds, just to be safe, hold POWER+VOL-UP+HOME button to boot to recovery.
It's likely you're just stuck in limo right now.

What the hell is exitrecovery??? I never seen that in the t999 development section. U have to be careful. Anyways try to flash the stock firmware via Odin. To get into Odin power off phone. Hold power down home and volume down u will feel it vibrate then with the volume rocker press up . The stock firmware I can get u....it will already be prerooted

Here this is the newest ICS update from T-Mobile uvalj4 already rooted just flash in Odin. Once Odin is up and u have your phone in download mode connect USB from computer u should see in Odin "added" that mean your good hit PDA next and search for the file I gave u .....MAKE sure to unzip this file first then start the process. Unzip after u download. .thank Mr Robinson for this package

What does the computer detect it as? Idk what exit recovery zip you are talking about. Can you boot into download mode?

Agree with these guys. Though I thought it should be stated clearly that you should not ever flash anything you don't find in the TMOBILE T999 Forums! Too many have bricked their phones by flashing things we've never heard of over here!
What is this exitrecovery thing anyway? Link?
If you want you can find instructions on how to use Odin either in my firmware thread here:

[Q] Need help flashing ROM

Alright, so last night I tried to flash a new ROM using the clockwork method, and twice it failed, well, the first time I did it, I backed up my phone...the second time I didn't thinking it would still be there, well it wasn't. So now, I'm on a bootloop (I've already read how to fix it but it doesn't work). So my question is how in do I flash a new ROM using ODIN3 (which I can connect too)?
Try searching "stock ROM for *your phone*"

Follow the directions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101
With you phone NOT attached to your PC
Download the full reset one-click, extract it then run it on you PC
Turn off you phone
Get into download mode - Power + Volume Up till you see the Galaxy logo and let go
THEN plug it into your PC and see if it shows up on a COM port (doesn't matter which one)
Click start and let it do it's thing.
You should then be back on stock rooted EL29.
THEN go and read the stickies in all sections, then re-read them a few more times all the way through the entire list of posts.
Then read through the Developmeent sections and read the original post and all the following posts.

[Q]Please help me!!!!!!

Now I have two major problem with my phone. First is , my pc doesn't recognize my phone. It showed unknown device in my computer. Secnond is the phone lost the cmw recovery mode. When I press volume up and power, the phone auto login to android system recovery 3e mode, that I can't flash any other rom. And because of 1st problem, I can't reflash to stock or other kernel. Please help me. Thank you.
Oh man you need to look into stuff when you flash.
1. Download Samsung kies and your PC should recognize it now.
2. Odin a kernel with CWM (power plus volume down the press volume up)

Hi. What did you do to your phone to get it into this state?
OK. Relax. Turn off you phone and plug it in to let it charge a little.
1st go to you PC and download the samsung drivers http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...342248/Sprint_d710_USB_Driver_v1_3_2360_0.exe
Then install them (if on Vista or Windows 7 after the download is complete then 'right-click' and choose 'run as administrator')
Then go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101 download sfhubs 'One-Click' install. Grab the one labeled "Download the EL29 full restore One-Click self-extractor" this is the complete install with the only addition of root access.
Now unpack/unzip the One-click, and launch it. Leave it open.
Then, on your powered off phone (you know the one that's been charging for at least a couple minutes),hold the power button and the volume down button till you get to the first screen, then volume up to 'accept and go into download mode.
Plug your phone into a USB port on the PC and it should show up on a com port (anyone is OK - read through the tutorial on that post's page!) then click start and wait till all is done.
That should get you up and running on EL29.
If you want CWM you can use sfhub's AutoRoot package here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728.
BUT!!
You really should do some serious reading before you continue or you will end up with an expensive paper weight.
There are loads of stickies in each sub category of this forum.
Also read through the posts about how not to brick your device, how to use CWM etc.
Good luck.
There you go!!! I personally didn't have patience right mow to right that out loo

Need help turning on galaxy epic 4g!

Hello. I bought a Samsung Galaxy s 4g sprint from someone. It turns on and goes straight into recovery mode, but it recovery mode you cant move any of the options.. it just stays there... is there any way to make it work? Please Help!
See if you can get into download mode. (Three finger boot) If you can, then you can use Odin to reflash recovery and flash a ROM. Since you are having issues, it wouldn't hurt to just Odin stock FC09 and you know you're starting fresh. (Check repartition)
If you decide to Odin FC09, you will then have to Odin CWM or TWRP with reboot unchecked, pull the battery and boot into recovery. Once in recovery again you can flash any Epic 4G ROM that is compatible with the Epic modem. You have to go through those steps because the stock kernel will reinstall the stock recovery upon the reboot.

Yep Roms go on sdcard. It sounds like you have a bad flash of something. So you can try the recovery flash in Odin and see if that helps. The better solution, albeit with more steps involved to get back on custom, would be to use Odin and flash stock FC09 with repartition check just in case.

That will get you back to 100% stock just like new out of the box. Then if you want to root you can follow this link

That will get you rooted and have the opportunity to flash whatever rom you want that is for the Epic 4G with slider.
Also be sure you have a GOOD cable not the charging cable that came with the phone. Most people have good luck with BlackBerry cables.

Yea the first link will work if your phone just turns on and goes straight to recovery mode because you will be going into to download mode by holding 1 on the keyboard and the power button until you see a yellow android guy pop up that's pushing something. Recovery mode and download mode are different.
Yea, sorry I didn't provide links. I was on my N7 when replying. Like I suggested eariler, check out the video tutorials on using odin to get to stock and rooting our phone. vwags already provide the link for both Odin and FC09 tar.
The problem i am having is that when i connect the usb in w/o battery is that it shows the charging logo and then 5 secs later it just turns off? any suggestions? thank you very much

Have the battery in the phone when you connect the usb to your pc.
alright i will try this, but even when i try charging it with the battery in .. it just shows a charging symbol (for like 1 sec) and goes straight to recovery mode... when at recovery mode it just shows options and then it says to move volume rocker and press okay on options... the thing is that when i move the volume rocker the options stays the same... this also happens when i use the usb w/o battery... i will try with battery but i doubt anything will change... also i dont have a sd card in it when i do all of this ... if that even matters... thanks alot for the replies

Ok.
1. Turn off device.
2. Leave battery in.
3. Press and hold the #1 key and then Power button until you get into download mode. (Android w/ shovel inside yellow triangle.)
4. Start Odin on your PC.
5. Connect phone to computer via micro USB cable. You will see in Odin, a yellow box with "COM" and some #. That means your phone is recognized. If not, you need to reinstall drivers.
6. Place FC09 tar file in the PDA slot.
7. Check repartition & auto reboot.
8. Click start.
9. Process takes about 2-6mins. The first boot takes about 5mins.
10. Profit, b/c you're on 100% stock like out the box.
From there, I'd suggest updating your profile and PRL in settings > about phone. Then you can follow the video on rooting & flashing.

I should have asked this in my first reply.
Since we're still at the "get into download mode phase"... I need to make sure that you are on the SPH-D700 Epic 4G, and not the SPH-D710 Epic 4G Touch. The Touch doesn't have the physical slider keyboard.
Moneystack23 - What happens when you have the battery in and press and hold the number 1 on the top left of the keyboard and then at the same time press and hold the power button for atleast 5 seconds?
Edit: I'm asking because I think your pressing and holding vol down, camera and power button which is not how you get into download mode on the samsung Epic 4g.

Dude, not to be rude, but you opened this thread 15min ago.
You're statement implies that you are expecting folks to jump in and solve your problem immediately.
Im not trying to bash, but help you here. Not many people will read your post and think, "now theres a guy I cant wait to help out!"
Its a Snday afternoon, and many are busy with their own lives and families, snd church. Just be polite, ask nicely, and above all, be patient and someone will eventually try to help you out.
Remember, real life comes first.
Now, as for your problem, I dont know why this happened with a factory reset, but you may have inadvertently hit a different option w/o realizing. It happens often.
The only option I see now is to Odin flash the stock or root66 firmware. Downloads and instructions are in my thread. (Link in sig)
Out of curiosity, were you rooted? Custom recovery?

Yeah, it was rooted. I was using Hyperdrive ROM to change my lockscreen to Xperia Z. After that, I rebooted my phone and then I couldn't unlock it for some reason no matter . So I went to recovery and tried to hard reset. And now I'm here. Is there a video you can show me? There is so much information in your thread and I don't know the vocabulary. (I had a friend help me root it). Thanks for trying to help man. I really appreciate it
Instructions:
1) Click link in Doc's signature "[Firmware/OTAs] T999(V) Official, Leaked & Root66 FW & OTA Updates!"
2) Download prerooted stock firmware. In the first post.
3) Find section "How to Flash the Stock Firmware" (Crtl+F in most browsers).
4) Read it.
Not a problem. Im glad to help whenever I can.
I dont have a video on Odin, but I bet if you search YouTube, theres probably one already there. (Ill try to remember to post some screenshots in my thread though, sorry if it was more confusing thsn helpful.
Anyway, Odin is really quite easy to use. Ill post up a link to some better directions in a min or two.

Odin Instructions
Heres how to flash the firmware in Odin if you change your mind:
1. Download Odin 3.07 (Link in my sig)
2. Download latest firmware (root66).
3. Unzip Odin and the root66 firmware. (Use 7zip) (the firmware should have a .tar.md5 extension)
4. Run Odin (no need to install)
5. Boot the phone into Download mode.
6. Plug into the computer. In one of the top left boxes you should see it say COM: ##. If not, install the USB drivers from my sig and try again.
7. Once detected, click on PDA, then browse to the extracted firmware.
8. Verify ONLY F-Reset Time and Auto Reboot are checked.
9. Click Start
It may take up to 10 minutes, but the phone will automatically reboot and you will see Odin say PASS in the top left box. Unplug your phone and thats it!
Good Luck with whatever you decide to do!

This guide will get your phone back up and running properly if you follow these instructions.
Since your phone already boots into Download mode you can simply do that before you Odin flash.
Easy and sure way fix your problem - Here is s step by step guide:
Download the newest pre-rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 Jellybean v4.1.2 rom: T999_UVDMD5
After downloading make a folder on your computer's desktop and unzip the
file using Winzip or 7zip so the .TAR file is in the new folder you just made.
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file.
Here is the link for Odin: http://d-h.st/Q14
• Download ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app)
• Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
• Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
• Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
• Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
• You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
• Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
• Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
• Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
• TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
• If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
• Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
• Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
• You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
• Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
• (It may seem to hang during boot, this is normal and you must be patient!!!)
Good Luck!

[Q] Unknown problem...URGENT, PLEASE HELP

Hey all...and to answer the number one question, yes I did do A TON of searches already to find a solution...PLEASE HELP if you have the knowledge
Phone Model: Galaxy S III (SPH-L710) Sprint 16gb
Firmware/ROM: All stock and never tried ANY customization
Problem: I think the problem happened when the phone auto updated to 4.3. Now when the phone tries to boot it just boots to the second Samsung "Samsung Galaxy S III" screen, reboots and then will get to the same screen and just sits there. One time I even let it sit there for 30 minutes just to see if it needed the ridiculous amount of time. When I try to get the phone into recovery mode (Volume UP/Home key/then the Power key) it will boot and on the first Samsung "Samsung" screen, in the top left corner in small print, it shows "booting recovery...". Then it will just go strait to the second Samsung screen then keeps rebooting twice before it will just stop on the second Samsung screen again. When I try to get the phone into ODIN mode (Volume DOWN/Home key/then the Power key) it will boot asking me if I'm sure and to press Volume UP to continue. Once I press Volume UP, to continue, I get to ODIN mode. In the top left corner it shows...
ODIN MODE
Product Name: SPH-710
Custom Binary Download: No
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
(all grayed out) Qualcomm Secureboot: ENABLE
Then in the middle of the screen is the little Android guy. Below that it shows, "Downloading..." "Do not turn off target!!". And it just sits there doing nothing else.
I'm pretty sure I have done everything I could possible do to get it working again. From what I understand there may be other things I can do. Worse case scenario, if I must, I would be willing to loose everything on the phone and start over from scratch, if that's even possible.
There has to be some VERY smart people on here that can help me. This is my wife's phone and we don't have an upgrade until May...PLEASE HELP. Thanks all!!!
Okay 1st go to sammobile.com and download the firmware for d2att also you will need Odin I think it's 3.04. You can search odin on xda there are a few guides to use then put phone in download mode and use odin to flash the firmware, everything u need to follow is posted in sgsIII development forum

I already downloaded latest versions of both. It states, from phone off and unplugged, start phone using ODIN/download route then immediately plug into PC then open ODIN and click the button....but I cant get that far because ODIN app on PC never recognizes the phone to be able to do so.
I'm now starting to get very discouraged because i'm seeing in some places that the device needs to be put into USB debugging mode. Please tell me this isn't true. Because there has never been any reason to put the phone into USB debug mode.
Can someone please confirm this. I'm really crossing my finger that there is a way to do this without needing to be in USB debug mode...PLS PLS PLS!!!
Thanks for your reply

You have to plug the device in from download mode AFTER Odin is running. So, phone in download mode, start Odin, then plug in. Before you go that far are you letting go of the buttons when trying to get to recovery as soon as you seen 'recovery starting' in the top left corner or are you still holding them? If you do not let go the device will continue to attempt a normal boot. If you can get into recovery and do a factory restore it very well may solve your boot issue.
