Sketchbook. Is this a phone or a tablet? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Because I'm ticked. I briefly had a think pad tablet and bought sketchbook pro . Figured it was a safe bet knowing I was going to ditch it when I got the Note 2. But apparently the Note 2 is just a phone and only sketchbook mobile can be put on it, not pro. The company won't respond about it. I paid $5 for Pro. I'm not paying $2 more for the mobile version. I don't see a feature comparison either, but I would imagine Pro has more features if they are charging more for it.
To me it's as bad as SwiftKey screwing over tablet owners by removing features from the phone version like arrow keys and refusing to update the tablet version. Not liking how some of these companies differentiate between the two devices.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2

Only sketchbook mobile will work on it. I too was disappointed that the Pro version wouldn't run on my GN2. There's a few tablet apps that I've been disappointed won't run on it.
But there's no clear answer to your "is it a phone or is it a tablet" question since some tablet apps will run on it. I think it comes down to the developers.
It's worth noting (no pun intended) that I've come across a couple lesser known phone apps that won't run on it. So its a two way street.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2

Well I'm going to keep bugging them every day till I get a response and a refund.
I knew the lines would be blurred a bit, and we're not talking big dollars. More principle and if the mobile version isn't as fully featured.

I have sketchbook pro on my gn2...ti back up from your tab to mem card, put memcard in phone, restore with ti backup, profit! I did this using my ASUS tf101
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium

Duh on my part. I should've known to do that. Thanks. Can you force the market link in TB? Would be funny if you could do that and back door them with a little fu

layerpaint works fine on both. it's my favorite drawing program atm. but i too was disappointed about sketchbook.

I have it on my gn2 but I rooted my phone and installed it jellybomb first.

I count on 1 "good" app per month from Amazon... and even at that hate getting it since they are always 1-3 updates behind. Actually got Xscope free, but bought on Play store to get newer version.
Lol thought it was just me, it used to be good now its freeking candyland junk

Yeah I used some of the play credit to buy the printer app from play. I do miss plants vs zombies, but first world problems I know

It makes sense for them to feature those apps right now. Given the proximity to a kid-centric holiday and that their target demographic is Kindle Fire toting soccer moms, they're going to put apps like that front and center right now. Same can be expected for Christmas.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I dunno if the free apps differ by region, but here in the UK Jamie's 20 minute meals was free yesterday, Jelly defense before that (currently in play store for £2.45) and thumb keyboard was also free recently. It's still worthwhile checking everyday.

Yup, it's mostly rubbish, but still worth checking; I find a few a month I want, here in the UK.
I think it needs to get slower and more non responsive when trying to install apps from your library! Then it won't matter what apps are free .

I was trying to be sarcastic. The app is terrible on my devices (Galaxy nexus and nexus 7). I have a hundred or so apps on the 'cloud' from Amazon. Browsing the list and trying to install them is like pulling teeth. It's slow and not responsive. Button presses offer no feedback and seem nonfunctional most of the time. Is it not like that for everyone else?

+1 laggiest apply in a long while.
Amazon free apps have been crappy. I still take a minute out of the day to check it just in case. Every once in a while, something good comes around. Audubon birds was a big score for me a few months ago.
I do wish you could "purchase" without having to download, even though install is optional, still uses space.
It's been laggy for me too, especially when trying to delete apps off the list. Accidentally discovered that feature a couple nights ago.

Extra Use for S-Pen

First....I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this phone! Today was the first day in the 3 weeks that I've owned this phone that I've been able to get a low battery indicator. With my normal usage, I'm normally home and ready to charge with more than 30-40% left.
Now to my extra use for the s-pen. It works GREAT on those pesky levels of "Where's My Water". Those of you without kids may not find it useful but mine always want to see the next levels. Kinda feels like cheating knowing that the lines I'm able to draw are much tighter than with my fat fingers but that's the advantage of having the s-pen right?
P.S. also works well for kids playing Fruit Ninja too.....LOL
You should try it with apps like TouchRetouch and Afterfocus or photo retouching apps. It's awesome. The battery life make me smile every day.

I used mines with photo retouching within the first few days. It will be hard for me to ever go back to not having a s pen. If Samsung ever left android but still released phones on this level I'd probably follow them out the door to where ever they were headed.

Samsung from the old days could be declared a different company. They have changed a lot in the past few years for the better. Android isn't the only area. Remember how awful the moment was? The gps issues of the galaxy s series one and two. The ssds, the ram, the tvs, Samsung is moving up and is probably a large part as to why Android is doing so well.
If I was apple that would be one part supplier I would wish to keep happy.

I hope their new partners serves them well. They are burning a bridge with Samsung. Look for even more bugs with the next Apple devices and even more customers buying them despite the increase of bugs.
Getting even more off topic. I actually support Apple to the extent of understanding that in order to have great things we need competition. I really hope windows 8 steps up their game and the new nokia company gains success. Would love to see htc and Motorola get their acts together and turn a profit. Let us all stop fighting and get on with the innovation. Looking forward to seeing the note 3 being a even greater device that will largely depend on how the competition is doing.
A huge add blocks the source so I can't see it. Looks like I'm going to have to install a add blocker even though I like supporting websites.

So who's downgrading to the new BB10?

I say that in jest, but curious to see who all is interested in BB or has their time come and gone? I've done a lot of research on their new phone and seen a lot of leaks, and see nothing really new. Looks to me like a mix between iPhone and Android.

Not me. I had a 9700 for couple years, good phone and business device but when it comes to play time it fails. I'm a die hard android fan and with the exceptional piece of hardware the Note 2 is hard to leave it for BB.
BTW I am Canadian lol. Blackberry is just to late to the game. Another big Canadian IT company in the gutters
It would be pretty neat to get the launcher/themes over to Android, though wouldn't it? The interface seems pretty cool.

They did play in the full touch screen world early on but it failed. Blackberry's key selling point is the keyboard it self. Regarding OS, I've been saying it for over a year, Blackberry should have played with Android earlier on.

Nexus 4?

guys dont flame me but I used the nexus 4 and loved it screen looked better its brighter in the sun then the note 2 its fast as hell yes I know battery sucks compare to the note 2 idk should I do it? I got a offer nexus 8gb and 175 cash not sure if I should go shead and do it ....

If you like the Nexus 4, why do you care about others' opinion?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
I have both. The n4's Achilles heel is the glass back. You need to treat it with kid gloves. Don't bother with the 8 gig though, get the 16.
Also, $475 total (n4 8 gig is$300)is to cheap for the note. The note 2 is $700, you are getting lowballed big time, unless your note is in crappy condition.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
I think tmo has the N4 for sale 50 bucks through Feb 18th... problem is for that price, you might as well have both (considering the 475 offer)... I would like it but wouldnt love it and with the G Pro, Goggle X phone, M7, GS IV, and even GN III all worth saving up for... id be hard pressed not to:
A) Sit back and enjoy what I have now
B) settle for, hardly any upgrade in a few areas, while at the same time losing out on the battery life, screen real estate, potentially samsung 4.2 official support, etc.
Considering I can flash CM10.1 and have basically the same thing too...

If I were to make the trade:
N4 has to be clean, 100% plain and simple
300 extra would be the very least, depending on the accessories, as I have already paid for plenty of accessories that would be worthless to me, therefore included in any deal (70+ for otterbox defender alone)
Also would want verified stock backups of everything (chances are they have done some rooting, flashing, etc just like I have)
Even with all this, I really still would question what id be gaining in the end, this note is just amazing

The reason why I say 300 is because I know I can get a new note 2 for roughly that right now and wouldnt mind adding a line to have both (but would then keep all my accessories)

the biggest problem with the nexus is that theres no way to add more storage space to it so youll get around 10gb usable if you get the 16gb and the screen brightness on the note 2 can be easily fixed by a little app called a brighter note
And to think, there is going to be an octa core processor with KLP or even better within 6 to 8 months... personally I think id just rather start saving whatever is deemed the GNII killer

If you want an N4 I would say $200 on top of a BNIB 16gb N4. You're just selling yourself short tho, when LTE drops in a few months you are gong to be kicking yourself. The fragile glass and locked storage of the N4 deterred me big time, not to mention the horrific battery life that curses all LG devices. I would keep the Note 2, the N4 is back in stock everywhere and prices are dropping left and right. The Note 2 will still be worth 450-500 in 6 months, the N4 goes for $300 all day on my local craigslist.

How often do you use your SPen??

Just got my note 2 haven't used the SPen much yet can't really fond a legit reason too lol do you use yours? ?

I got the Note 2 for use with note taking so I use mine every day.
Other than that, I take it out to mess around with and tag pictures. I also do a lot of support for Android devices so the screenshot feature + tagging with the S-Pen makes my life so much easier.
There aren't enough worthwhile apps to really take full use of the S-Pen that don't have to do with notes or drawing.
There are some "games" that support stylus use. Maybe you can use that.
Either way, you still have a great device. Biggest screen and faster processor than most phones out there.

I do network diagrams as part of my job, and it comes in handy when I have to draw something out for the techs and don't have the actual diagrams available. Need a Visio editor for Android, though, that would be real nice. I mostly only use it when I'm texting. The S pen with a "gesture" keyboard like swype is way faster than typing any other way once you get good at it.
I use as a mouse when Web surfing.. Especially those drop down for a drop down menu
Jotting down little notes when out and about (the biggest use I get out of it) it's been many of times I needed to write down something and didn't have a pen, paper, nothing in sight
-TeaM VeNuM Like A Boss
-Galaxy Note II Edition
Fairly often. I like that I can sign PDFs using the S Pen.
I used to use it much more than I do now that we have a Samsung Keyboard Autocorrect hack that works in S-Notes. I can honestly thumb-type faster than I can hand-write and all the text is searchable. It is good for scrawling down the occasional phone number on the fly but the autocorrect is amazingly accurate. However if I were a student or in a meeting I would hand-write much more so as not to annoy everyone around me with frantic typing.
You can get the autocorrect baked in with a rom like Whompasaurus Rom V2.7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039564).
I do use the pen quite often as a pointer though. Nice for clicking tiny links or web surfing without smudging the screen.
I am looking forward to the Note 8.0. It should be just the right size for hand-writing and thumb-typing.
** Even though I no longer use it much, I like that fact that it is THERE if I need it. It's like having a car that can go zero to 60 in 4 seconds. 99% of the time you don't need the power but when you didn't see that semi in your blindspot and you need to get out of the way you are glad it's there.
