Can anybody please kindly help me with a rooted Gingerbread ROM for the At&t's Xperia Ion?
I upgraded when I bought the phone, I don't like how most of my games can't work on it, I got it rooted, but not just fun to keep the ICS since most apps always crash on it.
I am running the Generic Hong Kong/China's generic Gingerbread, I have some connection problem, plus my provider is an mvno service.
Please any rooted gingerbread for the at&t's ion will be greatly appreciated

What apps are crashing? I've had no issues with apps crashing on ICS but not GB.

GTA III, MC 3, and not only about App specific, I just love the overall apps experience on GB, especially the response speed on Tiny Village and Fifa 12.
I know if you get games like that, for 'free' they won't work unless you do a bunch of jibbirsh magic on them.

Hello.
I need your opinions.
I preffer something stable and smooth, and it's GB for me, I flashed ICS, and browsing on youtube is not so well. I need flash content, havent test it with games.
Lol.
Update. Or try ICS custom ROM's
Arc S, Updated here, very pleased. Performance is about the same, or better in other areas.
I rooted and removed some of the included crud, switched to Go Launcher and limited my background apps to 4, and it's running very nicely.
I think most of the problems and gripes are from the less powerful Arc Lt15i owners running hacked roms.

Stock launcher worked well (perhaps better than Go Launcher), but I miss the Go Launcher widgets and can't live without them.
Unlocked my bootloader using the testpoint method, and tried some of the custom ICS roms. My phone now feels much, much faster than it did even on GB. It absolutely flies.
Surprised to hear that stock ICS is laggy. Seems to me that if there was ever a good reason to unlock your bootloader, ICS is that reason.
I'm on locked boot loader and have upgraded. Remember for anyone upgrading using flashtool, connect to Sony update service and REPAIR, I flashed last night and I am pretty impressed. I don't know what everyone is moaning about. You even have root already. One thing to do as well is download Apex Launcher which is only available for ICS so go and check out play store and see three phone fly!!

I haven't really tried video, but overall I'm quite pleased, music player from Xperia s would have been nice with clear bass, but other than a few things we didn't already have anyway, whole phone is working pretty decent don't know what some people are on about.
Those of you who are having lagging issues, again I ask have you repaired using update service?

I was trying to get Xperia s player on my ics but I messed something up. And forgot to backup original files.
Can someone upload the ics SemcMusic.apk and also soundenhancement.apk
Cheers

You need to download adobe flash player 11 from the Android market in order to used the flash.
I agree with you I miss my Agenda widget with GO but... alternatively I have APEX with PureCalendar Widget which is working great.

I came back to GB because of the many glitches in games. Those cannot be solved by repairing using the update service right ?
In back on GB. If you like playing games then ICS is useless.

I started a similar thread but got closed.
I to was wondering about staying on gb or go with ics, in the end my techie nerd took over and switched to ics, can't say it has any real benefits apart from the show of factor that my arc has got ics.
I was very sceptical because of the negatives that people had,i have not had these issues even when playing games like temple run or angry birds etc...
The only thing I miss is the amount of mods, themes available,i know in time they will come but my techie geek wants them now.
So in short yes upgrade and enjoyB-)

So, I'm still using GB on my Arc S, and planning to flash ICS, there are two major bugs I've collected from posts on the forum that concerns me:
1. Low fps video recording
Is this only for 720p video or also for lower resolution recording?
2. Games not working smoothly,
Is this only for HD Games, or do games like Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds also have problems?
Been to ICS for less than 24 hours, got back to GB,I owned lt15i,maybe that is the main reason why is it lagging in some parts, but, there is no real big thing in ICS Arc to really shout about.
If i am upgrading,I will probably wait a month or two after it's official launch for my model, for the sake getting everything else easily, because to get recovery for ics on lt15i is real pain right now, in my opinion at least.Depending on which arc you owned,I really think that it will make a difference if I actually owned lt18i.For lt15i,it is a strict no,no for me right now.

The Games, I played, run as smoothly like with GB, but whenever Ram was full every Game was closed, Games like Cut the Rope and Angry Birds too.
(Sorry for my bad English...)
First of all my Xperia Arc S is not unlock or rooted, its completely stock no modifications made upgraded thru Sony PC Companion.
anyone experience some issues on temple run when you swipe to side to side sometimes the character jumps or slides instead of turning left or right?
and another issue for me is xperia home launcher it doesnt save my settings to arrange my drawer in alphabetical order it always return to own order after opening some apps like playstore?
any solution guys?
need your help badly..
hmm,i think i read somewhere that some games arent fully compatible with ics and there will be problems with the touch screen.
yea my arc s is GB and temple run is running smooth. Then after i get ICS its not recognizing touch properly
It's appears when i update wif ics 4.0
When I downgraded this problems havn't appear.
This is a known issue with Temple Run and ICS on some devices including ours. Plenty of comments on this on Google Play so let's hope they fix it soon.
Congratulations, you are the 100th person to ask this!
It is an ICS bug, happens in most of the games. Sony's fault.
I am not happy with Sony's ICS. I actually run Achotjan's SEMC Debrand Engine and it's awesome. I recommended it.
Downgrade to GB is the best solution for this case!
I think so
Temple run is not fully compatible with the ICS.

It's not Sony's fault. I've experienced this problem on CM9 too, which is not based on anything from Sony(kernel, firmware, etc.)
I just downloaded Gravity Project and it has the same problems as Temple Run. Completely unplayable.

Please tell us of your experiences here, especially if you re flashed your 28i.
I am actually curious as well if there is much difference between h and i and if it's worth reflashing over to i if you already have h
There is no difference at all that I could tell, in performance or features. I switched back to .233 because I already had it set up the way I liked.
what about vs L28at, since that just came out?
The LT28at seems to be smoother going through menus. I only have a little bit of time with it today but thats what I noticed. Also the AT&T firmware doesn't have the Backup & Restore apps that are required for the simple root procedure so you have to get those from the international version. (I provided a zip of them in another thread). There is bloatware you have to remove on the AT&T firmware as well as I'm sure tethering is restricted though I haven't been able to test yet.
The international ICS for the LT28i does not detect the livedock or smartdock so if you have one of those and use it to fire off certain apps or things when docked or removed that will not work. Again haven't tested the AT&T firmware yet with that.
Does google Wallet work on the LT28I version?
Hi all!
I picked up a Verizon Xperia Play r800x at a thrift store yesterday for $33. Needless to say, I was excited for the find!
I've been looking at the various roms available, and amd getting mixed messages on what is compatible with the r800x... A lot of the information I am finding seems to be outdated.
So, simply put, what compatibility issues should I be concerned about when looking for roms? I'm trying to find a debloated, gaming centric rom, but the ones I have been looking at do not specify GSM/CDMA compatibility. If anyone has a rom recommendation for the device, or can tell me what to look for, I would be very appreciative!
Just as an aside, I do not ever plan on using the phone as a "phone," since I'm on T-Mobile and, well, ya know. I do want Wifi to be working, obviously, but the cellular functionality is totally superfluous to me, if that makes a difference.
Thanks!

If you don't care about cellular service then you can use any ROM. I recommend you get gin2 jellybean or Aurora play, or xperia next 2 , or dixperia 3, or Bos. They are all great roms but you should also unlock your boatloader and flash a custom kernel like lupus v12 so you can over clock it'll make gaming a lot smoother

Awesome! Thanks for the reply! I'm probably going to be using dixperia 3, that one looks super nice!

So the real question is if you intend on using as a phone or not. If you do, I personally recommend unlocking, rooting, and staying with stock (debloat it with Titanium Backup or the like.)
You'll find that the original Verizon rom is ridiculously stable (very plain vanilla), has around 212 or more of free ram, and everything "just works" how it's supposed to.
Use Holo Launcher and Holo Locker if you want the JB look.

The OP said that they didn't intend on actually using it as a phone, as they are on the T-Mobile network (and thus couldn't use it as a phone anyway).
Also, the 2.3.4 Verizon version broke the Google sync, which causes a host of issues (Google Talk doesn't work, stuff done on the Google Play store website won't be noticed by the phone until Google Play is launched on the phone itself, notifications from some apps will not work).

I swear I didn't see that part :cyclops:. And you're right: 2.3.3 is definately the place to stay if staying stock.
That's unfair!
I'm bought one secondhand in 2015 for $41. Sh•t.
Hello all.... I have a question. I have an xperia ion atat and have good old ICS still... With atat updating to jb soon.... Or not.... I'm looking into just flashing to jb. I see others with atat have done the same but I'm not getting any pm's back about it... Exactly how can you flash it if your not able to unlock the boot loader? I'm not exactly new to xda.. Rooted and unlocked boot loader on Sony arc and had the x10.. I'm just out of practice... I also looked at the firmwares for ion seeing the international version of jb was out and I know you can flash it to atat... But is it really that simple? Just get cwm.. Install new h version and flash it?? Any help would be great...
Sent from my LT28at using XDA Premium HD app
In order to flash JB on a LT28at you'll need an .ftf file of the jb firmware you want...and download/install the latest version of flashtool for your PC...The wiki at the top of this forum section has all the details on how to do both, and where to get both...
That is the 'easiest' way to do it...You can then find doomlord's easy root kit w/ busybox and superSU for the lt28at, run that...then linked in the same page was a cwm installer all for the latest .211 lt28h JB...so you'll be rooted with custom recovery in no time...
you can do that the other way around; there are a few pre-rooted JB offerings floating around somewhere...and you install them from an already rooted w/ cwm phone...so it just depends on what you're looking to do...flashtool is easy, and the root kit/cwm kit is also easy...i'd just do that and be done with it...
just be aware, JB desperately needs another update...there are some pretty critical bugs some of us have experienced...using gps would crash my phone (running something like greenify after rooted as 100% fixed that, though), the camera is 'unusable' according to most for video (no idea why but i'm not really noticing this one)...some have a useless volume up button, etc...
Seeing as you have a att device I would suggest you use the LT28i rogers firmware. There is a new root kit in the S dev section for it now and will be added to dooms root tool in version 18. It will be much easier to use that firmware so you don't have to worry about base bands and stuff. I had quite a few issues with losing my LTE on the h version. I would also suggest you not use the Sony backup to restore your apps. Use Titanium backup or something and restore just your apps with no data. You can use Sony backup for call log and messages.
Hey thanks for the reply's and tips. I flashed the H version then read what you said.. Lol sure enough lost LTE. I flashed the I version and not one single problem now.... Nothing,... Recording video is fine... Phone works better.... Battery is still crap but whatever. But im not seeing any issues really...
But thank you guys
As always XDA is a very helpful place.
lt28i (rogers) ion super slow on JB
Hi Does any one else have issues with laggy keyboards and an overall slow phone after "upgrading" to JB? I have disabled all of the useless rogers junk and whatever and have hardly any apps installed but the phone is slow and sometimes the keyboard is painfully slow to react. Example I am typing and I press the space bar and the spacebar will stay pressed for maybe 1 second when I am not even touching it. I have 0 issues with laggyness when I was running ICS and I could have my phone full of apps.
The same slowness is on my girfriends lt28i from rogers too after she did the 'Upgrade".
Just wondering if I am alone on this cause I always see posts about how great it is on the ion and how smooth etc. but I am not seeing it.

No I'm not having any keyboard issues. I even tried different keyboards and still nothing. So far I only found one problem and it has to do with sending a mms.. The picture just sits there sending. But keyboard wise no, not an issue for me. I'm guessing your using the Xperia keyboard? Maybe try the Google one.. Its not bad. There are a few others that seem to work with out issues.

Ya I don't know why it doesn't like my phone or my girlfriend's phone. When it get super slow I check to see how much ram is in use and it is around 500mb. This phone is supposed to have 1gb but mine seems to have only about 660mb.
Well I am back to ICS and everything feels fast and fluid and smooth again! JB really doesn't like my 2 phones. I tried updating using SUS and also with flashtool but the results are the same.
Well its ok, I didn't really notice much difference with JB anyway. I will stay on ICS for now. maybe if they have a new build of JB I will try again.

On stock Rogers there is no lag that I saw. Now that I have added some of the Honami stuff I do get keyboard lag from time to time. Another thing I have noticed is if you pull all the FB crap out the phone it runs quite a bit better. There are still some bugs in JB for sure but I would suspect we will see newer firmware versions before long.
I was having quite a issue with LTE settings vanishing from my device on the H firmware. On the Rogers it has been allot better and seems to have less bugs.
