Alright so this isn't anything related to mods at all. It's the phone itself.
So I was going to play some Dead Trigger, nothing big, minding my own business. I slide up the screen to put my fingers on the gaming buttons. After a while the phone got hot (as usual), so I decided to turn off the game and slide down the screen.
This is where it happened. The screen got stuck halfway, so I slide it back up again to check behind it.
This little thing was pulled down:

See that little square in the red circle? You might be thinking: "But that's normal!".
Well I had this case of slightly broken phone. I got it from a friend that had a skating accident with it so it was pulled up all the time.
So I'm thinking that's what stuck it, and tried to slide the screen down again, but instead of the screen getting stuck I hear a loud CLICK and the screen turned off.
And not from the circuit board but rather like the kind of click that you hear when breaking a glowstick. I couldn't turn the phone on so I took the battery out, put it in again and tried to turn it on.
The vibration that activates when you turn it on worked like normal, but then nothing else. The screen doesn't turn on at all, nor does it properly boot either I think. When I plug it in my computer I hear the windows "device connected" sound, but I can't access it.
So what do you guys think? Is it fixable? Did I just royally **** it up?
Feel free to ask if you find my explanation confusing.

Sounds like the flex cable got stuck and snapped - had a similar thing happen on my g1. It's a royal pain to replace from what I've read, but is relatively cheap and there's no harm in trying to repair it i guess.

I asked around and that's what a few others thought too. I'm kind of afraid to open it up in fear of messing it up even more, but I guess it'll be good practice for computer electronics class.
Thanks for the help, appreciate it!

This is actually a common problem that happens to xperia devices. It's the flex cable that's busted. Here's a link to where you can buy a new one

Same problem
i got the same problem i just got it. How can this happen at same time for us
By the way the lines run accross the screen it looks like the cable to your screen is loose and is not longer attached all the way.

It's actually less of making the cable loose, and more about the friction from the plastic on the track. Every time you slide out your game pad, you are fraying the cable a bit. After time, your phone gets that white screen.

my R800at did the same thing . white weird screen but still operates fine. i ordered the ribbon and yes installed correctly. same problem it didnt fix it. i too installed a custom rom and it went white shortly after. im just asking someone to think out of the box on this one. i love the work you do here saved my butt a hundred times. i inspected both cables and even sent my old one back in my return package and got a refund . It looked like the other no fraying or any unexpected wear and tear.
So, I just traded my Galaxy SII for a One X on Craigslist. He told me of this problem before, but hey, I didn't care. The phone functions perfectly fine. The one issue that I'm just annoyed at is the bottom button alignment. I don't know if this is common or not (I tried finding other posts but I didn't find any), but the lights behind the buttons are a bit to the bottom left. But when I press the buttons, they respond, the lights just... aren't behind it? Sorry, I don't have a great camera (used my Captivate) but I tried my best. It doesn't seem prominent, but it really is in the dark. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or can I possibly send this to HTC (if I just tell them I bought it from AT&T, I don't know how they would figure out I didn't. I have the original box too)

in my phone, lights are perfectly matched to buttons
well try factory reset once and if the issue is still there then you can talk to htc customer care and send it to them {if the phone is not rooted}

Here is my issue. I already called them and they told me that they could diagnose it and possibly fix it. If I don't want to have it fixed (due to a high price for the services) I am required to pay the $40. So basically, I'm screwed.
Looks to me like the LEDs behind those buttons somehow got shifted. Can’t imagine something like that passing quality control at HTC, perhaps the screen was replaced by the previous owner and whoever responsible did a shoddy job.
Look very closely at the very edge of the screen and the thin black strip surrounding the screen for tool marks. This is how you take off the screen of the One X, the process is likely to leave some marks at the pry points (especially if it was done poorly). If you can see marks, that is a very good indication that the screen was replaced. IMO there is nothing much you can do without taking it apart and re-aligning /replacing the LEDs.

Yep, I just looked and talked to the guy and he said he did open it once. I think I'm just going to leave it as is because the phone functions perfectly fine and I don't even use those buttons that much (I'll just stop them from lighting up with an App). I was also expecting a problem here and there seeing as the phone essentially cost me 160 off contract. Thanks for the help.
Hi, I bought a Xperia SP from eBay.
200€ unused. After opening the box the screen was on.
It shows the home screen but no matter which buttons (hardware or screen) I press, nothing happens.
The clock shows always the same time.
Anyways, the battery drain seems to be very low. After two days it is still on.
I read about hardware off, but it doesn't work. Any solution?

Return Back The Phone. Get back the Money
I tried to pull of the sticker, if it was one. But there is no sticker.
One other thing that is crazy : the screen seems not to be backlit, like other phones.
When the room light is off, the screen is visible, but not lightened like my other phones...
This is weird....I feel like I am beeing fooled...

Okay guys, I am so sorry I wanted to keep this joke going, but you guys are really kind and I don't want to misuse it any longer.
This phone indeed is a dummy. After reading only about the damn JellyBean update all the days I thought it would be funny to talk about something else.
Please don't verbal-kill me, it was just a joke and I apologize.
Have a nice evening everybody.

It's a fake, and everything in your story tells you it's fake : screen on out of the box (still running after 2 DAYS, that's 48h of screen on time), not responsive, not backlit, clock stuck, half the price, bought on eBay :/ open it up, pretty sure you won't even find a battery in there.
I'm wondering if your post is legit, and I'm only answering because if this is real, you must feel quite bad. Get your money back.

It's kinda funny knowing even this could surely happen to someone.
So again please forgive me

I was using my phone this morning, then the screen turned off after I left it idle. Tried to turn it back on and got the Sprint logo and then the Samsung logo shortly after, and then it would turn off.
I tried power + home + vol-down, and shortly after that screen comes up it turns off again.
Do I just have a bad battery? I'm using the Gorilla Gadgets extended battery, but I'm at work and don't have access to my original. I also noticed that if I plug in the charger, the charging light doesn't come on.
Anything else I can try?
Oh wow, thanks for the speedy reply and for the heads up. I'll go ahead and give this a shot when I get home tonight

I don't doubt you at all, I just managed to confirm it. After slapping it around for a bit I finally got it to go to my home screen, then shortly after the "power off" menu came up, similar as to if I was holding down the power button and off it went.
I actually saw a video of someone flicking the power switch area with their fingers, I did that and managed to get the phone turned on, and have made sure to not touch the power button since then by installing a "screen off" app and it's been on this whole time. I'm guessing this is just a temporary fix and eventually it'll turn off again w/out me touching the power button?

Is there a special method to take out that little brown piece? I'm using a small needle and it looks like it's made of hard plastic and completely wedged in there :\

When you're looking at the button which is obviously in the middle of the switch look at that Brown cardboard looking material... directly behind the button in that cardboard area use a very small flat head after you've used that needle or pin then dig out enough of it, so you can stick your screwdriver behind the button and it'll pop right out.

What you have is I'll guarantee 99.99% is a bad Power Button/Switch on your motherboard.
This was initially referred to as Sudden Death Syndrome... don't waste your money and buy a new battery, I assure you that's not it.
If you have a multi meter take your phone apart, it's very easy, there's a tear down video of how to on YouTube if you need a reference.

If anyone takes this advice PLEASE be sure to test with a multimeter to be sure this is the problem. I don't even know if the multimeter test will tell you anything (I'm no electrician) but this advice will permanently disable your phone. I was recently having a problem with my phone restarting and Jessooca guaranteed me that the problem was the power button.
The problem wasn't the power button. The problem was corrupt data/cache in one of my apps. Clearing the data/cache fixed the problem.
I just don't see how someone can make guarantees and be 99.909% sure of anything. Every problem can be caused multiple ways.
A few months ago I had a problem with my phone failing to startup and in that case it WAS the battery. So that's two different times I have personally experienced boot up/shutdown problems that were not related to the power button. It's just crazy to make guarantees and say you are 99.99% sure about anything without any troubleshooting. Especially for a problem like this that can have multiple causes.
I know I'm late on this thread, but just in case others come here looking for advice on how to fix their power button. I have fixed many of these by soldering on new buttons, and it's a pretty easy fix if you are good at soldering and have a good microscope. What's not an easy fix is trying to replace all those little tiny resistors and capacitors soldered on right next to the power button. They're about the size of a grain of sand, and although I usually can get them replaced and make the phone work, it takes much longer, so be careful if you're going to attempt any kind of diy repair!
I would also say that the only way I've personally gotten these power buttons to work other than replacing them is by cleaning them and lubricating them. A good electronic contact cleaner/lubricant works best, but acetone followed by WD40 works pretty well. Just saturate them with the cleaner and click them a bunch of times to work the cleaner in... then do the same thing with the lubricant. Doesn't always work, but it's unlikely to make the problem worse, and if you it doesn't work you can send it to me to fix!

I love the A6 unit that I have but last week it lost the fast boot feature. At key off it shuts down and loses some settings and the time. I pulled the dash and the yellow wire has power when the key is off. I had installed the new firmware several weeks ago so it's been updated. Any suggestions? I emailed them but have not heard back.
I'm having basically the same issue. When the car has been turned off 80% of the time the head unit does a complete boot up. Sometimes it does it if the car is turned off and immediately turned back on. I also have lost settings suck as time. Everything else works perfectly and I haven't had any other issues as of yet. Had it for about a week now.

Just make sure the yellow wire has constant power even when the key is off. They made me jump through a bunch a hoops to get any action. I had to submit several videos and then they sent me a power adapter that plugged into a wall outlet to bypass the truck wiring and I had to video that also. They finally agreed to replace the radio with me sending the old one back first. I ended up keeping it and they gave me 20% off a Pro unit with the gestures. The day after I bought it they dropped the price on it 20.00. If I had it to do over again I'd just trade it for another and save the money. I doubt I'll be able to sell this old one with the problem it has. Let me know how it goes with them. It was probably a month of emails back and forth before I had a remedy.

I'm pretty sure I connected the yellow wire to the constant power correctly because it will work fine and boot instantly when I turn the car on but sometimes it won't. It's a bit frustrating but if that's the only issue I really have then so be it. Over all it's a decent head unit in my opinion. I guess that's just aftermarket BS when you install yourself.
Hello yall, well I bought atoto A6 and each time it was booting long, like the first time. So it the problem with the wires that goes with the mmc.

so the yellow and red wires are messed up. Or at least look for the right position of all wires. On the picture they are messed up so if U have wire same way than u need to switch em betwin and it will bot up crazy fast
Can you explain a little bit more about the process?
I have the same problem when I switch off the car, do I have to invert the yellow and red cable in the connector?
My iso harness had red and yellow swapped wrong. I had to use big paper clip to swap cables on the iso plug. Now it works like it should. Yellow is battery and also fatter cable. Red one is thinner. Google: iso harness pinout for reference.
