Hello there,
I was trying to install CM10 on my A100 but I messed it up.
I got everything right till TWRP installation, then I accidentally delete everything on my device, CM10 rom included. Now the only thing accessible is TWRP.
I understand from other posts of the forum that it should be still possible to flash a ROM choosing Mount from the menu, but I can't work out how.
I click on the mount tab, and I connect it to my computer via USB. My linux system recognises the tablet as a multimedia player, but it does not allow me to copy files on it. Changing the status of mounting System, Data and Cache does not change the behaviour. The option mount SD card is not selectable.
I have got TWRP 2.2.0, and my A100 does not have external SD.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Do you have a microsd? Or twrp just won't see it. That would probably be the easiest option, load a ROM on the micro SD.
Did you make a backup first thing?
If your tab is in recovery, you should be able to use adb and push a ROM to the internal memory, but it is not recommended to flash from it. That's why I mentioned the microsd first.

Unfortunately not, no microSD slot. I do not even have a backup; in my clumsiness while I was following the procedure I skipped an entire paragraph and I jumped to the wiping section.
I will try to use ADB, I saw that there are few threads covering the procedure. Thanks for the tip, I'll be back with the results
Ok, all went well.
I followed the instructions in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929
with two minor corrections:
1 - as I did not have the /sdcard directory, I used the /data directory
2 - there was no need to add the ROM file name again after /data
thanks for help

Consider yourself lucky, that ROM has nothing to do with this device and would likely have killed it. Only use ROMs from the device forum of the device you're flashing. I mean go to the development section of the a100 and get a ROM there, not some random device ROM with a great name.

OK I think you ended up in the wrong forum then, this is for the Acer iconia A100, it has nothing to do or in common with those devices, you may wish to post in their forums for help.

Unfortunately today on my display appeared a yellow vertical line from the battery icon up to the very top. This has to be a dead screen.
Since I have bought the device my GPS does not respond at all no-mater what I do...
Therefore I decided it is time to return it to ACER for a warranty repair. Of course I have unlocked my device and installed every possible tweak that exist here in the dev forum. So I want to ask if there is a way to return the device totally stock as it was out of the box or if the unlocking and rooting does void the warranty?
Thank you
HOW TO GUIDE:
1. USB Driver Acer A100 http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/USB/USB_Acer_1.000_A32H_A.zip?acerid=634486286202185014&Step1=Tablet&Step2=ICONIA%20TAB&Step3=A100&OS=a08&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=PA_6
2. Unlock mode + Recovery required (search for this in dev Forum)
3. Download Official ICS (also in dev forum - use the 300MB version, for me the 250MB didn't work)
4. Copy the file to the Integrated memory of your A100
5. Enter recovery(HOLD power & Vol+ > after vibrate release Power and wait) and install the update.zip by scrolling to it (if you are not sure what to do just read or watch youtube on "how to navigate in recovery")
6.Wait until extracted and then reboot system
7. Wait until everything is brought back to stock
I really need some help because I have to return it soon...I just want to wipe it clean as it came from the factory, without anything on it.
Please help me

Supposedly the stock ics official update.zip will relock it and put back to Acer factory status.

I would be very pleased to get help from you!
nandroid in the beginning!
I want to add that after I updated to the official ics, as by many guides, I made a nandroid backup. So it was in the very beginning before I began optimizing! Should I just restore this backup?

You can but you'll still have an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery. I'll try to find some time but right now I'm short and 13% battery lol

I think you can use ad to wipe the recovery and lock the bootloader-

I truly thank you about trying to help me and giving me suggestions but what is "ad". I am as much of a "hacker" as I could follow the guides in this forum. I am not familiar with the basics and all the hard work behind every new ROM, Kernel, tweak etc... Therefore I really need some kind of a guide or few steps.
For example: if I download the official ics from the dev forum > run the recovery > wipe clean(as by the books) > install the official .zip would that be a true factory reset - locked, no root , no "NASA" stuff
thank you

Put the update.zip on your SD, hold volume down and power, it restores to stock ics.
The stock official update.zip is around the forum someplace. Maybe in the dev forum.

For example: if I download the official ics from the dev forum >copy it to the external sd> run the recovery > wipe clean(as by the books) > install the official .zip would that be a true factory reset?
P.S. I just do NOT want to brick my device, better ask first
Another question/problem: I went to recovery and prepared to run the >>>System Nullify: Nullifies /cache /data /system. THIS DELETES INTERNAL SD!<<<
When I choose to use a zip from SD card it opens the devices integrated memory, BUT when I use a zip from Internal SD it opens the micro SD card. So does that mean it will erase everything from my INTERNAL SD = micro SD(external), dew to recovery internal sd is the external sd....very confusing!
So what happend, I ran the script than I applied the update.zip(from external SD, extracted successfully) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307046 FULL PACKAGE
and now I am stuck at ACER logo with bootloader still UNLOCKED!
What are my options?
P.S. I have tried the http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/tablets/2011/Acer/ICONIATab/ICONIATabA100/ICONIATabA100faq9.shtml FACTORY RESET but as soon as it started to "Erasing Userdata..." , reboots and I am again stuck at ACER UNLOCKED MODE logo...
I am now with wiped clean FlexR but I do not know how to install the official ICS?! What should I do?

My nullifier only does internal no matter what's mounted. Its hard coded to do /data which contains /data/media which is internal. It does not do sdc or external or any other partitions besides /cache /data /system. So basically no, it couldn't unless your recovery mounts external to one of those mount points, which none do unless its been changed.
Tldnr doesn't do external no matter what.

Hello everyone, I'm sure that this has been asked quite a few times but after trying for hours & hours I finally decided that I'll get some help
I'm using a Rogers GS3.
So I have the Rogers Stock ROM installed, which is: root66_RWC_I747MVLDLK4 (That's JB4.1).
& the latest CWM flashed(recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.0-d2tmo) which works quite great!
CWM mounts & shows the files on my external sd without a hitch but what it doesn't mount is the internal sd, it's the common error (When I try to view files to install it says; E: Can't mount /sdcard & when I try to manually mount it; Error mounting /sdcard).
Please, any help is appreciated.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Cheers!

Yeah that's right, when I go to "install zip from sdcard" it doesn't show me any files & instead it gives me the error; E: Can't mount /sdacrd.
& well actually there are 2 options under Mounts & Storage, one Mount /sdacrd & the other Mount /ext_sdcard; the latter doesn't give me an error but the Mount /sdacrd does give me the error; Error Mounting /sdcard

Haha I think I figured out what's wrong, quite dumb, but thanks to TWRP is how I figured it out.
What was happening was CWM was not able to even access my sdcard because I had encrypted it lol but luckily TWRP has an option to decrypt it & then access it so it got mounted & everything but for some reason I couldn't install any custom ROM from TWRP itself(tried 3 but none of them worked for me;CM,AOKP & Liquid). But now since that I know the problem, I'm just reinstalling the Rogers stock ROM & then going to try CWM again to flash a custom ROM.
Will update soon!

Crap!! The worst ever thing just happened! When I reinstalled the stock Rogers ROM & restarted the phone, the password screen before the phone boots is still there BUT now it's not the password that I've set before, I'm guessing the factory reset reset that as well!! Ahhhhhh!!!
Any ideas on the default S3 encryption password lol? I tried the obvious one(i.e; 12345, 1234, 000, 00000, 1111, 11111, samsung) But no luck! Omg! This is bad lol!
Please if anyone knows a work around this, let me know because this is messed up! :/
Phew, fixed it, lol, just another factory reset through the built in recovery mode fixed it! That was close! I was scared to death haha!
Alright so I finally managed to install CyanogenMod 10.1 on the Rogers I747M! Woohoo!
Why it wasn't installing earlier was because the CyanogenMod is made for d2att devices but the I747M is d2mtr so it was failing that test & wouldn't go any further. Fo rfuture reference for anyone I guess:
1. Make sure that your sdacrd is not encrypted before trying to install any ROM except when using Odin.
2. There is a line on CryanogenMod that needs to be deleted for it to be installed on any I747M device, open the CyanogenMod zip file & go to /META-INF/com/google/android/ & open the updater script using a text editing software (i.e. Notepad) & delete all the lines before the first mount line.
& with that CyanogenMod will work without a hitch on the I747M!
Thanks & cheers Cyanogen team!

A first post here, please be gentle with me, and huge thanks to everyone who has made posting here unnecessary until now.
After a long time using CynogenMod 7.1 on my Desire, when I came to switching SIMs on it, I decided to look for a new ROM too because I was having a problem with shortage of app space and I was missing a few features I have become used to on JellyBean.
A look at the options found the one in the title by WoH (development forum link). It separates out the ROM and the Google Apps. I can install the ROM, and I like it a lot. I can't get the Google Apps to install.
Tried: flashing the zip file at http://woh-roms.weebly.com/gapps.html via the recovery menu, and installing a2sd. It has the right MD5 and appears to go OK, but the apps don't appear when the phone is rebooted, or appear in the list of things moved by a2sd. I have made repeated attempts, both with wiping user data before and afterwards, and doing it before rebooting after installing the ROM and after an initial boot with it, all without success.
Tried: reading the instructions there. However I don't have adb installed and because I don't have Google Play, I can't install a file manager that unzips files (the one in the ROM doesn't appear to - no unzip option is given).
Tried: installing the ROM mentioned in the development subforum thread by timvdlinde which does have Google Play. That works, but I am not so keen on the ROM itself. This may be incredibly shallow, but I liked WoH's use of the Nexus boot animation, and the timvdlinde ROM has the Nova launcher which I am not interested in.
The phone: an unlocked, rooted, AMOLED GSM Desire. The recovery is the Clockworkmod ROM Manager one. I don't remember ever changing the hboot settings. There is a sizeable ext4 partition on the SD card and it is being used by a2sd.

Theres no need for a swap partition. If you are using PA it will just act as a waste of space, since the rom doesnt utilize it in any way.
Try doing a full wipe and reflash the rom. Then flash these gapps. I can guarantee those work, as i use the same rom with those gapps and everything is fine. After flashing run the a2sd script through terminal.

Yes, doing
ls -a /sd-ext/gapps/
produces that.
.extgapps is a zero byte file, rather than one byte containing 'x' as there, but the root explorer instructions would produce a zero byte file, so presumably a) there's no touch command and b) it's the presence of the file that's important, not what it contains.
BUT...
... if I do

then the lines that are supposed to be there aren't.
I'll get the email working, email the output to myself and stick it in a pastebin or similar.
pastebin.com/Qtrps3A8 has the whole thing.

.. so what file is it looking for, and is this down to trying to do things with the card before it is ready?
What has changed:
The search 'app' has gone from the list - I can see from the logs that it is supposed to be replaced, but here it's just missing.
The browser is now very like Chrome... and I don't remember that being the case.
I have a new T-Mobile Note 2. I installed TWRP and SuperSU using the toolkit. I then used Root Browser and deleted a bunch of apps ("bloatware", I thought), and apparently removed too much, as the phone no longer boots android.
I downloaded the two Tweaked 2.4.1 Rom files, checked Md5sums, OK, and coped same to external SD card. I did the recommended wipes using TWRP. Thereafter, also using TWRP, BasicInstall finishes with success, but the Tweaked.2.4.1.UVBMD1.073113.zip install fails with "E: Unable to open zip file". Then I try to reboot, and get a message "your phone does not appear to be rooted", and take the option "Install SuperSU? That also fails.
I think maybe I can't install Tweaked.2.4.1.UVBMD1.073113.zip because the phone isn''t rooted? Is that right? But I can't figure out how to root the phone either. I'm stuck in a loop. Recommendations to fix appreciated.
Thx, Gus

If you got an unable to open zip file error - even though the md5s check out the only thing I can think of is the zip has become corrupted somehow. Did you check the md5 on a computer and move the file over? Might be worth checking it on the phone (you can use the terminal interface in twrp fwiw - just use the md5sum command).
Bottom line recommendation - try to copy the full zip over to the sdcard again. Also, just to sate my curiosity - did you wipe /system before flashing?

I did recopy the two Tweaked .zip files to the sdcart - repeated attempt to install on phone, same problems.
I also unzipped the two Tweaked files on linux, and although I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to see, there's no errors and a bunch of directories and files that generally look reasonable
I think I did wipe /system on the phone before flashing - could that be my problem? Also, when I go into terminal mode in TWRP on the phone, I get a hang at "Updating partition details"
Is it possible I've accidentally deleted the unzip program on the phone?
Is there stuff I could/should do from an adb shell on my PC through a USB hookup to the phone?
thx, Gus
You could flash stock rom with odin and start over.
Tweaked Out

Hmm... maybe reflash recovery? That's very strange - especially if the first zip worked fine and the second had the issues...

I wish I could! But when I try that it hangs at "Waiting for USB debugging to be enabled". And that's even if the phone is booted into download mode.

Odin back to stock. Twrp started failing everything I tried to flash also. That's why I stopped using it. But you need to Odin to stock

Finally got it working. dwitherell was more or less right about the problem. Here's my steps: 1) did a low-level format on the external sda card 2) recopied the two Tweaked zip files onto the external sda card 3) Cheked md5sums for both files on the external sda card 4) ainstalled from TWRP, as before. BUT - this time it worked.
I'm guessing either the external sda card or one of the zip files was corrupted - as dwitherell had suggested. Thanks to him and other forum members for helping out.

Team,
I have been researching for hours and am quite confused on which avenue to take to recover my soft brick. Information overload:crying:
Here is what happened and I will provide as much info as I can so please bare with me. After OTA upgrading to 4.3 and rooting successfully using the CF Auto Root. I was attempting to get my wifi hotspot working again using the Wifi mod and mucked around and installed the wrong mod (Odexed MK4). This rendered me stuck at the glowing samsung screen and it goes no further. Ive tried to factory reset, wiped cache and rebooted several times. Boots fine into recovery and download mode.
So after hours of searching, reading (its 3:50am est) and testing solutions I am no closer to a fix than I was when I started. I am currently waiting on a stock rooted rom to download in an attempt to flash back to stock but its taking hours to download.
However I just noticed, as I am typing this thread, that I can no longer
1. Mount as an usb external drive in recovery (TWRP v 2.3.1.0) I have Samsung drivers installed (1.5.14.0) so I get the indicator sound from windows that I sees the phone.
2. If I attempt to manually browse through my files using the recovery there are no files inside my internal sdcard directories.
/sdcard There are three directories there
/0 /obb /TWRP and the only folder that has files inside is the TWRP folder.
Im floundering here. I cannot even mount and install files on the phone to even attempt to flash back to stock. Can I get some fresh angles ladies and gents? I am at a loss.

Good morning (not really, I assume, sorry). So where are you at? Not sure what you mean that you cannot install files on the phone... Can you get into download mode and your computer recognizes the phone? If yes, can you do what you started to say - odin stock rooted? Or... if you can get into a custom recovery but your internal sd card has been wiped, can you put a stock rooted ROM in zip format on an external sd card, put that sd card into your phone, and flash in custom recovery?

Here is the problem...the ROM I have is in zip format and based on what I have been reading I cannot install via Odin. Due to the fact that the phone refuses to mount as an external storage device I have no way of placing data on the the internal or external card. The only recourse I have now it to attempt to find an adapter to be able to mount this microsd card to my PC. I am out of town and have no idea where I could find one.....uggggh. Ill keep you posted.

Walmart. .. target. ... and most any office store you should be able to find one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538543 ... This thread gives you the stock unrooted rom in a flashable zip. To my knowledge no one has put out a stock rooted zip, but I will check around.

You always have the Factory Reset/Wipe Data option inside your Recovery. But if that doesnt work use your downoad mode and Reset in KIES. but whatever you do, now that you have upgraded to 4.3 DO NOT try and dowgrade. it will cause a hard brick.
You did the ota update which put KNOX on your phone which is bad especially if you have a warranty. There is currently no way to get rid of it. I read a while ago the peoples phones has been getting bricked because they were trying stuff.
Anyway the only option I guess you have is to use your computer and reset your phone using kies. It will flash your phone back to stock in download mode.

Problem resolved I was able to go back to stock using the link posted above by Bigpappa!!!
Thank you all so much for you help!
Congratulations
I am glad you were able to get use of your phone back. I wish I had seen this thread sooner. I was in exactly the same boat a couple of weeks ago, only mine lasted 3 days. I even bought a new GS4 when I thought my phone was dead. Took it back when someone finally helped me do what you did. It's a helpless feeling when you have been rooting and Romming for years safely. Sure seems like a sticky thread is in order for this specific issue. As you can see, I haven't got enough history for credibility on this forum since I rarely post. Oh well.
