Please help with lockscreen mod if you have some spare time - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hey guys-
I am on the latest build of PA, and I cant for the life of me apply this patch.. Its just way too far ahead of my modding skills... anyone here have info or can lend a helping hand on how I can get it to work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597928
This one is nice too....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920612
It would be great if we could some how bake these into the PA rom or other roms right outta the box.
Thank you for your time.

Was also trying to patch this using the old hard way or even using those utility or autopatch programs they have here on xda ...end result. Couldn't get it to work either =(
I think that's the new lockscreen that aokp is getting though.

Mind if I include this in my ROM?

I would love to help. I'll post some of the dumps soon
Cool deal. Ill be really jumping into all of this tomorrow. I'm on winter break for 3 weeks so I got some time to kill. My first prioriaty is dumping everything, then I can dive into getting clockwork built, odin working, overclock/underclock kernels with ext2, lagfix, and some decent rom ports over here. (AOSP, Sense) Maybe even seeing about getting a team together for cyanogenmod on here.

Unfortunately I've already removed much of my bloatware but if I see anything on the interwebs in the way of dumps, I'll post it here.

Note! This is from my Continuum which is rooted and modified. I undid all the changes I made(yay for keeping everything backed up!) so this should be bone stock. Let me know how else I can help.
Was going to send my phone to koush for clockwork today.

That's awesome ThePravus! Thanks! I'll be so much more comfortable modding things on my phone after he works his magic.
OMG this is absolutely amazing! I hope that you can get the dev community started. Anything else you need help with? I might consider being a tester if you do start. We should have a recovery soon, but that's no good if we don't have any ROMS.

Help
I am willing to help in any way, esp as a tester. I have modded mine extensively so a dump is out for me. I got OCLF to work early on in my efforts, but can't get it to work recently. It doesn't give me the option. Let me know how I can help.
Once we get Clockwork going, I'll be happy to test any ROMs. Between this and Gingerbread going to AOSP, this could get exciting quick....

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. I'm just hoping we get a stable recovery, but I'm not too worried. As soon as that happens... This phone is going to be even more EPIC, or vibrant, or fascinate me, or... OK I'll stop the corny jokes lol
I'm just afraid that getting ports from the Fascinate, that we won't get any new Ticker features and tweaks... That's the biggest thing we need right now...

Oooooo, I didn't think of that. That could be a problem. We're gonna need Samsung to release the API for that from what I remember.

I think we already are living without a fully functioning Ticker.... I would like to see a ROM that improves upon it....
1. third-party SMS and e-mail (Handcent/Gmail) support
2. ability to set refresh intervals
3. ability to drop a 4x1 widget into the Ticker (Tweetdeck or Pandora for example)
these are just a few things that I think would improve the Ticker... I'm sure there is a LOT more that can be done with this thing.
Also, our capacitive buttons (menu, home, back, search) are part of the screen, this is unlike other phones.... These will need to be added into any ROMs as well....
Not trying to be negative or pushy... Just want the devs to know what they're getting into...
How we doing on the stock system dump?

Out of curiosity, what do you use them for? What advantages do they have other than being able to set one key to multitask?
AOKP has it built in Under Rom Control>Navigation Bar>Enable Bar
So yeah, I honestly didn't understand your reply to me, but again. AOKP.

Alright, for those of you who are interested... I've Built the new Paranoid Android from source with alittle spice of my own style ...
This is PA, the way I build and the way I like it.. it has PA's new HALO, yes HALO and it's only available as alpha for the official devices that PA builds for, until now.. I'll let you guys try it out .. Altho I truly love rootbox, I also love PA, so I've been building builds for myself but since some ppl maybe interested in what HALO is or wanna try it, I'll offering you guys the opportunity to do so.. please remember to wipe cache and dalvik before rebooting..
DOWNLOAD HERE and then watch the video below.. remember it's alpha so I dont' wanna hear or you posting, this doesn't work and that doesn't work... There is one tip I can give you tho.. If halo is running, you can't install apk's you need to longpress and drag the halo to the X like you are deleting an icon from your homescreen to install apks.... download gapps here make sure you download the newer gapps.. the multidpi gapp is what I use...
second version here if you are having some data problems with the first..

I don't come by the sprint forum much at all but I've noticed that you guys need some love too.. I have a test rom that
@xboxfanj has tried, it was my first aosp I did sprint which I built yesterday.. I updated today on my regular one so I also made an sprint one
you can try it out and if there's enough interest I might open a thread for it.. thanks.
DOWNLOAD HERE
download gapps here http://goo.im/devs/BaNkS/GApps I personal have no issues with banks minimal and multidpi
Downloading and will give it a shot.
Thanks
Looks good. Going to take some time trying to go through all the options. Everything seems to be working, minus the usual bugs that are on all aosp jb roms so far like the phone call issue and camera focus.
One thing that's bugging me is that the status bar color changes when I open the messaging app. I can't seem to figure out how to fix it.

We would appreciate it if you open a thread in the dev section and post it. There aren't many AOSP roms for Sprint users and I'm sure the interest is there.
You should check out this Vanilla Rootbox rom by rlasalle15 because it looks like its the same rom as yours. I'm not too sure on that.

I put up a new build .. the link is in the OP incase anyone is trying it out. and the changelog you can find here if you've read some of the changelogs you'll find out that there are some features ive implemented.. like under device options in settings it has options to disable/enable cap key lights and vibration intensity. this also comes with my custom kernel but im sure everyone downloads and installs a different one.. for now anyways, till I think of what I should do.. I've been working on this rom for months now and just building another rom after I've spent a good amount of time is kinda useless for me..
I wish I could thank you more for the ability to turn cap key lights off. You're just awesome.

As the title says, is there already any build of CM for the Tab 3 7"?
I would love to build it myself, but first I do not have a build environment (and only an ultrabook with a veeery small hdd...) and second neither the skills to properly fix bugs, nor the time to do so...
So is anyone working on it? Because the stock I think isnt really working as it could/should.

New to roms

Hello everyone! I am really new to flashing roms and as such know very little about them. I hope everyone here can give some advice on which to use.
I got away from the stock rom because it was ugly as sin, seemed to be battery hungry, and so restricted.
What I'm looking for in a rom is improved battery life over stock, improved speed, useful features baked right in like halo, and the ability to make it look exactly the way I want without having to install a 3rd party launcher, and last but not least working 3g/4g would be nice.
Currently I'm useing cm 10.2 nightly. I like the power savings, the speed, and my data works. But I would like a halo like feature and a bit more room for customization.
Thank you in advance for any tips you can give!

Welcome to the forums and the Optimus G! You've made yourself a great choice getting this phone
Glad to see you are already rooted and ROM'd as well. A good ROM for customization would be either Beanstalk, Carbon ROM, Dirty Unicorns, AOKP, etc. Pretty much every ROM that isn't CM will give you good customization options. And I know that Carbon has working Halo too.
I've been saying this everywhere on the forums, and I'm gonna say it here; if you can find some of the old 4.2.2 ROMs, I suggest you give those a whirl. The only real bug with 4.2.2 ROMs is camera autofocus. It requires a workaround with a script. But those ROMs are solid as ever and have really good battery life, way better than 4.3 in my honest opinion. And the newer stock based LG ROMs are better than ever as well. Amazing battery life and super smooth performance with those.
So, to be honest, you really can't go wrong with any of the ROMs floating around here. Get to downloading and figure out what you like Just remember to frequently make backups of your ROMs in TWRP (ESPECIALLY a stock ROM for prl/profile purposes) before going on flashing sprees, just in case something goes wrong. This is also one of the nicest Android communities I've ever been a part of, so please don't be afraid to ask in the threads for help with whatever you need. We're all like one big family here.
Cheers!
I personally am stuck on AOKP 4.3 (Build 9/11)
Haven't flashed a ROM in almost a month, Im pretty content
Awesome! Thanks guys for the info. A lot of good info to consider. Any idea where I might find the 4.2 roms? I just was looking around the Internet and could only find links to 4.3 based roms.
As far as a back up of my original stock rom I was foolish and didn't back it up. I have been reading a bit about updating my prl and such, to be honest it seems a bit daunting.
My question is, why can't there just be a button to it like in Stock roms, but on every rom. Seems like it should be easy for the devs to put one in considering how smart they are.

Check out spleef's goo.im account. He has all of the 4.2 ROMs there, and there's a CM10.1 (4.2.2) thread as well with CM10.1 nightlies still being pushed. And to update the profile/prl is actually quite easy. When in stock ROM, simply go to system settings > system updates, and all the options are right there. Connect to your wifi, and update your stuff. Really simple. It IS possible to update profile/prl from AOSP, but to be honest, I've only ever seen that feature on one ROM only, and that was the Helly Bean ROM back on my old Samsung Epic 4G. Like I said, I've only ever seen that feature on just that ROM, so maybe it was either broken, or worthless lol.
As far as the differences go between Carbon and PAC, it is true that those ROMs have a lot of the same customization options, but I'm guessing the real differences are made under the hood. To be quite honest, I don't know why, but I actually haven't even ran a PAC ROM on this phone yet. I really don't know why, lol. Maybe all the options are just too overwhelming for me. I like for my AOSP ROMs to be simple, but with some options.

Wait wait, you PAID for the recovery?? Errrrmmm... Sorry to say, but you kinda wasted your money, lol. I mean, its good that you supported the developer, but.... Yeah, you totally didn't have to pay for it, lol.
The difference between the two is, I think, that our devices just "prefers" TWRP. I mean, if CWM is working for you flawlessly, then great. No need to switch. But there's been cases were flashing ROMs and kernels with CWM just doesn't work properly. Why, I don't know. Maybe its something within the coding, or the device itself conflicts with the recovery, but TWRP is the way to go, and has now, at least I think, universally replaced CWM as the standard recovery for most Android devices across the board recently.
But like I said, if CWM is working for you with no issues, then stick with that!
I am somewhat new to them also but I will chime in. anything I have used I got from the site so you can find it or more current there.
Beanstalk - this has TONS of customization you can change just about everything. battery life is much better than stock. built on 4.3 - the keyboard is miles better than stock! has HALO built in <- I did not use it
Carbon - good ROM about the same as above, but not quite the adjust ability. battery life was good.
Optimized - built on the stock 4.1.2 battery life was amazing. with it sitting there just doing status checks no browsing it lost 2% in 6 hours!! my cell data dropped out and I could not get it back so I had to reflash (went back to beanstalk)
I am digging beanstalk. I have flashed most of the ROMs and it hits a nice middle ground between cm and pacman.
