[Q] Finally got DiXperia 2 - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I finally installed the dixperia 2 ROM on my r800i. I must say, its fast, no lags when scrolling through screen, can heavily multi-task without lagging. I get about 220mb-180b free now compared to 180-110mb on jokawild v3 rom. imo this is probably better than the jokawild v3 rom. But I do have some problems with it:
1)I cant turn on wifi, i try to go on the setting to try and turn on wifi and it tells me error. Any way I can fix this?
2) Also, before flashing the rom on my phone, the instructions said to: full wipe, wipe cache, clean dalvik, fix battery and fix permissions. I couldn't find the full wipe, fix battery and I think the wipe cache options in the CWM recovery. So I only clicked on fixed permissions and also cleaned the dalvik. Is this is a problem? Should I wipe everything it tells me to?
Oh and btw, my apps that I installed, (e.g. flipboard, whatsapp, gta 3 etc) are still there. Shouldnt they have gone since I flashed a new ROM? Somethings telling me I didn't do it properly....

Check in the OP for the dixperia thread and there might be a flashable zip to fix your wifi issues.
I think when you were supposed to wipe your phone, dalvik cache etc. Manually when flashing the ROM but i don't know if it'll be OK in this instance since the ROM seems to be working fine for you

If you're using custom kernel please head to the kernel thread, download WiFi modules and flash it via CWM. Oh and please follow steps if not some things might not work accordingly. DO NOT SKIP!

Ok I'll flash the WiFi modules but how do I get my phone to be reset? Like all the system apps that come with the dixperia2 rom and that's it,none of my apps should be there? Is there a way of that?

I recommend you backup all apps, wipe everything and flash the rom. Or you can reflash ftf and reinstall the rom to have a cleaner Rom.

if I wipe everything, will all the things on my SD card also go away? Or is it only the things in the internal memory that will go away?

If you factory reset, the things on your SD card won't go away. Only if you chose to wipe the SD card will everything go

Did you set up your access points? Settings > wireless & network > mobile networks > access point names

If u can connect to a wireless network go to settings Xperia and download internet settings

[Q] Cannot connect to WiFi regardless of kernel or ROM used. What happened to my evo?

My phone will detect Wifi, and try to connect, but will never connect. It just finds it, goes to "connecting," then "disconnected," then "connecting," then "disconnected," etc.
What did I screw up on my phone? I've tested Wifi using Fresh, CM7, Caulkin's, and the leaked plain gingerbread.
I've flashed 2 different kernels, each has the same result. Not to mention that some of the roms have different kernels already.
I've also downgraded my radio just to see if that would help.
What could I possibly have messed up? I don't get it.
Obviously, I've spent a lot of time like this, and I am, quite honestly, literally insane at this point.
Any help is appreciated.
Later.
Could it be your router that's going bad and not your phone??
Also, try placing a stock sprint rom and go from there
I ran into this as well before with my current ROM Mikfroyo.. the trick for me was just to back up my apps and wipe/reinstall the ROM. If you backup more, be sure to NOT backup the Wifi settings as that may cause the issue to happen again (I've been down this road more than once with my phone because I'm a flashing junkie )
That's the only suggestion I can offer.. sucks but at least for me it fixed my issues with Wifi not connecting.
Good luck!
--edit--
after reading deeper into the OP I guess this might not work as it seems flashing new ROMs didn't help either..

I don't think so, because at home my wireless printer still works, and I can connect an iPad.
I'll flash a stock rom tonight.

I have been using Titanium backup to restore settings, that is a good point. Maybe tonight I'll re-install the router, remove all apps from the Apps2SD, flash a stock ROM, then manually re-install all of the apps from a market.
Sounds like a good Friday night. Blehhh.....
If your using cwm to flash wipe all 3 times each then when you restore apps do apps only not system data. Somewhere your introducing info back into the rom that's confusing it.did you back up your wimaxx keys before you flashed your radio?

No, but cwm and RA both do that for you now, right? Plus, I can still connect to 4G, so the wimax keys should be there.
But that's a question I can't find the answer to- does the radio have anything to do with connecting to WiFi?
Well cwm doesn't do a good job at cleaning dalvik cache. You've got to manualy wipe 3 times to make sure. Your not using rom manager are you? What version of clockeork you using?

I use ROM manager. What's wrong with it?
I'm using 3.0.0.5
Don't use rom managet it causes to many problems. Go into recovery and wipe system data facrory reset, then go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache 3 times each then flash your rom. Your issues will go away.

You should go into rom manager and flash other recovery re. That's amon re its more stable than cwm.

Sounds more like your wireless router is the issue. Just because your other devices connect, doesn't rule out your router. Try to connect to a different wireless router and see if that works.
i am also having this same issue, and i cant find an answer to it.. but i will try giving it a shot with amon ra recovery and manually clearing dalvik cache n data.
Hey Sprockethead try using this recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339654, it's known to work for a LOT of people here... Like the others have mentioned I think it might have to do something with not wiping properly... You can still flash your CWM recoveries with this one.

~~~~HELP~~~~~
I have some major issues!!!!
I have tried everything that I can think of and I still have problems!!! I have flashed several different radios, Different Kernals, Different ROMS ASOP and Stock and I don't know why my phone keeps restarting randomly! Sometimes it will go for an hour and sometimes it will go for 30 seconds but it keeps restarting itself. Currently I am running CM7 with the new GB Radio leak. Still happeneing please can someone help ease my frustration with this god forsaken phone! Thanks for any Suggestions!
Just a thought, are you undervolting your kernel at all? If undervolted too much mine has constant reboots.
All I can think of, but by no means am I an expert.
Are you wiping all partitions before flashing?
Full Wipe:
1. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
2. Wipe Cache Partition
Go into Mounts and Storage
3. Wipe System
4. Wipe Data
5. Wipe Cache
Go into Advanced
6. Wipe Dalvik Cache
7. Wipe Battery Stats
8. Install zip (ROM)
9. Power off/on, the boot back into recovery
10. Install zip (GApps)
11. Power off/on
*These are not my instructions. Saved them in evernote but I can't remember what thread it was from.
SD?
Had this same thing happen w/ a friend's DInc.
Copied all SD files to PC, removed and reformatted SD to FAT32, copied files back to SD, remounted, problem went away.
It was a guess on my part, and worked for her, idk if that was the issue, but the reboots stopped.
does it do it when you just install a rom with the stock kernal it comes with? Try running just 1 thing for a while to see what is causing it.
Or it may be a hardware issue.....you can search these threads for 'random reboots' and see that you may just need a new phone. I had the random reboots issue which originally lead me to rooting......which still didn't help. My problem started when I let the phone get way too hot on a car charger, does it seem heat related? Just a thought, would seem more likely than a kernel issue as every time you flash a new ROM you get a different kernel....
I had the same issue and had to get a replacement. Just make sure you put everything back to stock before you take it in. There is a great thread in develompement that will walk you through it. You may want to even try going back to stock anyway and see if the problem persists.
I can run stock everything and I still get the same problem I'm going to try and format my sd card and see if that works.....i don't know what else to do. And yes i have wiped everything before installing new ROM...
I thought it was $50? and I also thought they ran out of Incs?
What I meant by back to stock is unroot, s-on, ect... You mentioned that you have tried different roms so I am assuming you are still rooted.
They are not out of incs, but if they were you would get an upgrade anyway.
[Q][ROM] I'm lost!
Blue gs3, rooted, stock ROM, I think...
New phone & I've never delt with a rooted phone. I'm so lost, how do I find what ROM I'm running?
Here are my 2 main problems
When I try to go to more settings under wireless & networks I get message
Com.android.phone has stopped working
The phone isn't recognized by my pc.
I believe it's the ROM and/or an MTP issue. (I've tried KIES, GS3 toolbox, & neither with just the drivers installed)
Would a older ROM that uses UMS fix this?
I need simple solutions if possible.Would it be sound to try to unroot & go back to stock?
Also, it may be relevant to note that when I got the phone, I took it to Sprint to swap #'s. They had to factory reset it to get the Wi-Fi and/or 3G radio's to work...
I would say basic steps.
1. Boot to Recovery
2. Wipe Dalvic Cache
3. Wipe all Data, System
4. Reflash your 'stock' rom
This process you will lose all programs/data on the phone.
First off, in your settings: About Phone, you'll be able to see what ROM (version, baseband, kernel, etc.) you're running.
Second, do you have a custom recovery installed? The easiest way to find out is to turn your phone off and boot into recovery (hold the buttons for Volume Up, Home, and Power until the phone powers up). The two custom Recoveries available are CWM and TWRP. If you have either of those, this might be the best way to fix your issues is to wipe cache and dalvik cache. Reboot and see if these issues are resolved.
Now, if you want to mess around with anything else in recoveries, it's best to make a nandroid backup of your current setup. It's easy to do with either recovery (look for "backup" menus).
If the above doesn't work, you can try to clear (or wipe) data. This will wipe your accounts, settings, apps, etc. but will leave you with a "stock" ROM. While it would be a pain to re-setup the phone as you like it, it's better than a full wipe.
If none of the above works, the final step would be to flash the Stock Rooted ROM by Freeza. If you download it on your computer, you won't be able to copy it over to your phone (because of the issues you stated in OP). But, you should stil be able to connect through your recovery. Since I use TWRP, I'll walk you through the menu's for that (CWM should be similar).
Connect USB cable to computer -> Mount Menu -> Mount USB Storage.
Now your computer should see a "removable disk" with the contents of your SD Card on it. Now you can copy the ROM you downloaded over to the SD Card.
Now that the file is actually on the phone, you can flash the ROM zip in recovery. Whenever you do this, it's best to do what is called a "full wipe" in the recovery. You'll lose all your apps, settings, etc but it's relatively easy to get it back (through Google Play, accounts, etc). In TWRP, what I always do is the following:
1) Nandroid backup: I normally name it something along the lines of "2013-03-14 - ROM NAME - ROM VERSION." This way, when I look through my backups, I can easily see what I was running (what I'm restoring when I want to restore).
2) Wipe Menu - Factory Reset. This will wipe all custom data off of the phone. For me, this is a must before flashing any new ROM. Other people will "dirty flash" Roms on top of each other. For me, that's a recipe for disaster, as any leftover settings/code will inevitably interfere with the new ROM and will mess things up.
3) Wipe Menu - Dalvik Cache and Cache: If I recall correctly, the Factory Reset does both of these, but it doesn't hurt to do it again.
4) Install: This is where you find the ROM zip file you downloaded and install it. Should take less than a minute, but some larger ROMs could take a little longer (not 10 minutes, though).
3) Wipe Menu - Dalvik Cache and Cache: Again, not technically required, but I tend to wipe the cache and dalvik cache very often.
3) Reboot Menu - System: Pretty self-explanatory, but it'll reboot your phone and you can set it up all over again.
Let me know which one works.
I wiped the dalvik cache, that fixed the com.android.phone error in the wireless settings menu!
Did a complete wipe and flashed the stock rom by frezza,
Wiped again and am now running darthstalker x,
Still no change to the USB connectivity problem with either ROM
Damn MTP looks like there is no work around.
Maybe Wi-Fi data transfer is my only option.
This is my first non stock ROM, and the only problem I'm having so far is that it won't charge after being powered off. Not too bad I guess!
Cabling matters. I have two USB cables. One works, one doesn't. (The one that works is the thicker one... more shielding?)
Also, as you totally sure that you have the right drivers installed?
Here's a list of troubleshooting tips even though you've tried some
1. try different usb ports
2. Uninstall and reinstall drivers
3. Try different usb cords
4. You can also download mobile Odin and flash things that way. It's the same thing as doing it on a computer just on your phone.
when ever flashing always use a thick heavy duty cable I recommend BB cables
http://www.amazon.com/BlackBerry-Ca...d=1364055777&sr=8-1&keywords=blackberry+cable
The best cables i have found for our phones are actually made by logitech. I found them because i used to setup their harmony remotes for BBY. the nicer remotes use Microusb and the cable that they include with it is INCREDIBLE. It is night and tight, and very well made. this is all i could find online. but it is this exact cable.
Notification and Status bar are gone
Hi, yesterday i updated my KF2 (i think i was using powerpoint45's rom on version 6, i dont really remember it was a couple of moths ago) to the latest nightly of CM10.1 and, like the title says, my notification and navigation bar are missing.
I figure out probably was a problem with the nightly build, and I flashed another version, but I keep with the same problem. I tried with several revisions of powerpoint45, hashcode and CM official (even the most stable one) and I keep having this issue.
I already used TWRP to wipe cache, dalvik cache, system, factory reset and even SD card, mostly any option avaible except the one that wipes system and SD at the same time (because if i do that i wont have a ROM on my SD to flash or a system to download a new ROM from the internet)
I heard about Pie Launcher or something like that and I tried using swipe gestures to get it work, I even check settings > system and everything is activated as far as i can see (nav, notification, etc..). and obviously I disabled and enabled many times expand desktop.
I would really appreciate if someone can help me, because I use this tablet for my work :fingers-crossed:
[Q] Trouble with Xperia S and PAC rom
Hey,
I'd been using the PAC rom for a while and have had problems after updating to ES File Explorer 3 with it force closing (the older version worked fine!).
I see the screen for a second then get sent back to the launcher. CM File Manager still works though.
I had the same problem with Google Play music and Apollo, but I just use PowerAmp anyway so it doesn't bother me.
All other apps like Chrome etc. still worked fine.
So I did a system wipe and upgraded from PAC v22 -> v22.1.1 (system wipe, cache wipe, dalvik wipe, permissions etc.) and it didn't fix it.
The new rom caused another problem though, now my phone will work fine for about 6~ hours on standby, then slowly become sluggish and unresponsive, to the point where I have to reboot to use it again. So I obviously formatted system/cache/dalvik/permissions and did a reinstall, but it didn't fix anything.
I my only guess is that there might be something wrong with the partitioning or filesystem? I don't know what to check to figure out what the problem is though.
Thanks
Have you try to wipe data?
Fresh install always fix problems.
Backup your current rom.
Do a complete fresh install of PAC including wiping data. Re download your most used (necessary) apps and try it for a few days. Hopefully it'll just be corrupted data somewhere and not a hardware issue. Cus the latest pure pac is very smooth and fast for me. And i too always use es file explorer.
