[Q] GB 2.3.4 GTalk w/video & voice keeps force closing in CM7

I tried to get GTalk with voice and video working using the method in this thread:

After following the directions and opening GTalk I see the video icon in Gtalk, but when I press it I get a FC.
If I initiate a video or voice call from my PC to the phone, the phone will show a GTalk FC.
I'm tried it with Tiamat 3.3.7 SBC and Savagedzen 2.1.0 BFS kernels with the same results. (I'm using CM 7.0.2.1)
I also tried changing the permission of the Talk.apk to RWX.
I know i'm close, I'm looking for any additional info. anyone who has this working with CM7 can give me

I don't have a particular fix for this, but thought i'd give a heads up that i just flashed the latest CM7 Nightly, which brings the phone up to 2.3.4.
I flashed the latest gApps and the GTalk with video is working PERFECTLY.
I guess what i'm trying to say is that if you are willing to move to Nightlies, it would work for you with a lot less effort.

Thanks for the info. I may give it a try.
Two questions;
1) Where are you getting gapps specifically for CM7 builds? I collected so many different GB gapps over the last two days that I've forgotten which version goes with which ROM.
2) Which kernel are you using with that nightly build? I was considering trying Tiamat 4.* (sic) with CM7.

There are two different links. Have you tried the one labeled "Test" yet? And I am having the same problem on Evervolv Wimacs b6.

2. I use the stock CM kernel that comes with flashing there ROM. they put a lot of time and effort into it and i think it is underrated. It does me good, personally.

EDIT: Flashed CM7-64 with the latest gapps (20110504, I think) and GTalk is working.

[Q] Aussie Gnex gapps problem (Play store, Gtalk)

Since getting my Stock 4.0.1 Telstra Gnex I have rooted then flashed the 4.0.4 Yakju, then flashed BAMF PAradigm 1.25 and flashed francos r134 nightly kernel.
All is well except my Googletalk won't login properly and the Play Store has just started going funny and saying :Error while processing purchase.
I dunno if I should re-install the gapps?
also my kernel widget tells me the cpu is at 57~C, isnt that high?

Hey mate do a clean wipe and install AOKP build 34, the newest gapps and Franco's latest milestone build. VERY good combination. You won't have any problems with that. Don't stress about CPU temp it is fine.

Really? AOKP? you 100% sure? I trawled this site for days and honestly thought BAMF was the best for us Aussies...

Done. Voila everything works great!
Had to **** around to reinstall the missing Gapps and delete Novalauncher ~shudder~
Any other tips or tricks?

AOKP isn't bad, they're all pretty much the same though I'm pretty sure much more people use AOKP or a derivative of it.

[Q] Anyone not receiving pictures through mms?

Has anyone been unable to receive pictures or photos through mms on AOSP or CM ROMS? I have the settings correct but seems I can't receive them through the Roms mms. If I say install go sms I receive photos/pictures through mms. Any thoughts what it could be?

I had the same problem I would hit download to see my mms but it would never show up. Pretty sure its cm10 had it happen back when I first flashed cm10 on my phone back in September

Thanks for the replies. I have the latest (11/10) Rom from task650 & Ktoonseys . It's the best Rom out there. Just wondering if its only me experiencing this problem. Other than that this Rom is simply amazing!!!!!:laugh:

Yes I haven't flashed cyanogen since September no doubt it is fixed by now.

I don't think it's just you - I'm having the same problem since I went to the newest version of Task650's ROM. APN settings are all good, followed the install instructions as normal. Hoping to see something soon on a potential fix.

im on a JB Twiz rom and my MMS isnt working either....I was about to switch roms because of it

I am also in Toronto on Bell and I have had the same issue with all AOSP ROM's (AOKP, CM10 and everything in between). I never figured out how to fix it =/

my latest is the PK rom and i too was having the issue of not getting the MMS> .would just keep saying downloading.. i installed go sms and that fixed it. .but stock messaging seems to be an issue right now dont know if its a JB thing or cm/aosp/etc thing

go sms didnt work for me

I get MMS messages, but they come looking like a video - super weird.

Funny, go sms does work for me. After I receive a mms from go sms and then try the stock mms and pressing download, I get the photo/picture. Handcent sms didn't work for me. Last night I installed Paranoid Android and tried mms and it worked fine, but I just don't like Paranoid Android Rom. It's a very good Rom but Task & KToonseyz is a GREAT and Fantastic Rom! It's fast and battery life is superb. I really hope that the mms in Task/Ktoonseyz Rom gets fixed. I would love to make it my Rom for a while.

newer AOKP port for DHD/Inspire??

has anyone or can anyone port a newer version of AOKP for the DHD/Inspire? like milestone 1 or whichever one is newest? I personally only like aokp and not too fond of the aosp or aospx. I flashed Pacman rom but had too many problems with it.
so if anyone can port one it would be GREATLY appreciated.

You mean AOKP Android 4.2? We've just got an AOSP based 4.2 ROM, so I'd just be paitent for a AOKP based follow up. If not, maybe you can suggest it to synergy or RandomBlame? I believe RandomBlame already has a 4.2 ROM, but it's in its baby stages as of yet.

RandomBlame is on Release 30 now, look for JellyTime in the Development forum

I don't know about 4.2 AOKP, but if it's options you want you could try cfX 4.2.

I tried aosp ROMS and cfx 4.1 but I don't like them as much as AOKP for some reason. Although I have not tried cfx 4.2 yet. Was waiting for Bluetooth to work. Also I've tried jellytime aosp and I always come back to aokp. I ran Icecoldsandwich for the longest time but I want to stay on JB and not ICS. If I actually had the time (kids,work,wife) I would try porting a newer aokp over to dhd/inspire myself but I never have time. Even dropping a deuce is apparently a "team sport" according to my kids. LOL.

The reason is very obvious one
AOSP - clean unbranded stock android
AOKP - unbranded android with cleanly built in to settings menu additional features like CPU OC, status bar tweaks etc.... with everything else as close as possible to AOSP.

Thank God. if I knew how to Port and had the time I would have done it myself. but major thanks go to PipelinerArd for the ROM.

Where now for AOKP?

Now that Kasp3rd is done, where do AOKP fans turn for updates?

If you need Wifi tether or bluetooth, aokp based rom is a no go for now.
Maybe you can try the new Dandroid rom. It looks like aokp but it's a tw rom which have almost no bug.

There are a few alternatives. Rootbox has Rom Control and is reported to be very Daily Driver for multiple users. It has a "Weekly" update that has a more "stable" propability, and there are nightlies as well. I personally use Tasks AOKP from the AT&T thread I flash it no problem with latest TWRP without having to alter any scripts, although some report needing to change some scripts to flash it. I do edit all build prop lines that show a 747/d2att being used. And Jameson in reg Development has a build he is experimenting with, not nightly and no real up to date stuff with it.
