I just picked up the N7100 and I can't get it to charge past 76%. I have tried a bunch of different chargers and cables, but it wont pass that %. Right now I am draining the battery all the way till it's dead then trying a full charge from that..
Is a setting somewhere that I'm missing?
None. Before doing anything drastic do a factory reset and use the charger and cable that the note 2 came with.

Umh, can we wipe anything from stock recovery ? You can try like you said or turn off & take battery out about 30 second then put battery back in,reboot.

No need to do the battery calibration thing. Try pull the battery out then plug in ur phone to charge for 10 min then plug the battery in and let charge for half hour then power up and let full charge.

Kk i got it working, but also. Ive been having this problem for about a week or two. my phone takes like 8-10 hours to charge to full. is this normal?
ever since i flashed the perseus kernel my phone doesnt even full charge over night. its retarded. really annoyed thinking about going back to factory settings un rooting and sending it to samsung. cuz i flashed other kernels and it still doesnt help
I flashed persus as well and it takes about 5 hrs from stonecold dead. It is also the charger and wire. I went out and bought myself a spare charger that is like samsungs output. Working fine. Dont use any old cable u got lahing around unless it a thick wire.

If ur using the original oem charger I would if u have the money go buy one and carefully open the package and try it out. If it charges faster then contact samsung and send ur charger back. If it the same redownload rom and kernel. Install and see then. If u still got issue then u gotta do some research and see what is going on.

These issues are the reason I don't even bother rooting this phone. There's enough RAM to multitask without slowing down the phone.

Has anyone else come across this issue?
~I had my phone on charge last night and when I woke after charging for about 9 hours I saw that the battery had not charged. When I tried my car charger it also failed to charge. I tried two more ways to charge with no luck and then plugged it into PC and it won't recognize it. I am on X9 with Perseus Kernel. I went ahead and flashed the new updated rom and also flashed Perseus again, both twice with no luck. Does anyone on here have any suggestions? My battery is dead and now Odin is not an option.
~I Wiped Data, Factory Reset (CWM) Wiped System (Format System) Flashed Rom, Wiped Cache/Dalvik, Booted, Waited 12 minutes, Rebooted, and reset battery stats just in case you are wondering.
Thanks in advance!

I'm assuming you've tried different microUSB cables right?

Yes, that was the first thing that I tried!
Did you try executing it?
I saw in another thread that the op there said it was apparently a common problem among Note 2's. My suggestion is take it back to where you bought it and report the problem.
I just went through this last week. It's a huge hassle but I just kept trying different chargers and cords and wiggling them to try to get a connection. Eventually it connected. I then had to get back to stock and called att for a warranty replacement.

What Rom are you on?
I switched roms and that exact problem has never happened again.
I think the port itself is faulty. Me and my partners note does the same thing. It will fail to charge sometimes, go from charging to not, etc. If you wiggle the usb cable it helps sometimes (or hurts it)...but you should never have to do that.
Def a problem.

do you use the phone while it is plugged in a lot in the past. hitting the cable and spot where the connection is made on the phone could damage the connection on the inside of the phone. i have seen that as a common killer of laptops, folks use them while plugged in and accidentally hit the end connection at the spot where it connects to the device. i would try to have the carrier service center fix it for you under warranty.

Agreed, this smells hardware related and I've seen it first hand with both the note and note 2. I'd be taking it back to where I bought it.

I had a problem similar and it was apparently caused by the male end of the charging cable getting wet or a buy of moisture in it. It fried the female end on my phone. I had to replace the port on my phone today at a phone repair shop. Its possible thst the same happened tobyou guys without you evem knowing it. Its more common then people think as it doesn't just short circuit your phone
Sometimes it starts to take longer to charge and sometimes it just stops altogether. But dependong on hownclever your service provider is they may or may not catch that. It cost me $65 to get it done. Whorth it to me to avoid the hassle

Alright, I'll try to be as brief but detailed as I can.
I just got my note II 3 days ago. I used what little charge it had out of the box until it died, and plugged it into my computer to charge it overnight.
I woke up and it was fully charged. I used all of the battery and plugged it in to charge the next night as well. only this time, I woke up to find it hadn't charged a bit.
I tried to plug it in to a different charger, and I saw no charging icon. I rebooted the phone, and I got the charging logo. it only charged for about 10 minutes before it stopped charging. I tried to reboot it again and got the same issue. so I spent a while trying different chargers and cables until it was totally dead.
Now, when I plug it in I get a gray battery icon with a loading circle in the middle, and then it goes away. I tried leaving it for several hours like that, but it didn't charge at all.
I read on several sites, including this one I think, that it might be a software issue. I tried flashing to a stock recovery rom with Odin but that didn't do any good.
the weird thing is, I can get into the recovery menu, and let it sit there for hours, so the phone IS receiving power from the charger. it just wont charge!
I took apart the phone to check out the solder on the connector, everything looks perfect. I even sprayed it out with electronics cleaner spray.
I'm not sure what else I can do besides get a new battery, but I mean, this one is brand freakin' new!
What exactly does this battery icon mean? I can't find any info on it or anything.
btw, I still can boot into android, but it instantly dies.
thanks for any help!
I had the same issue about a month after I got my note II. I ended up having to take it back to the sprint store. They ordered a new one for me and I swapped it out once it arrived. It didn't cost a thing and I had a backup phone to use while my phone was dead. Check with your local store and see what they can do for you.
I bought my phone from ebay (new) so I dont think that will work : (
some updated info though, I charged the batter using a friends note 2, and it charged fine. I stuck it in my note 2 and plugged in the charger.
it says its charging on my phone. I get the charging symbol and everything, but it just doesn't charge. I'm really starting to think this IS a software issue. maybe I should try a custom rom.
Factory reset could help.

I tired that but it didn't help. : (
Charging the phone on the usb from the computer is not the best as the battery is a beast..... there is a reason the stock wsll chsrger is 2 amps .... most computer usb are maybe 1/4 that so that is probably your issue....
Thanks

Like I said, I have tried many chargers. my Asus motherboard has a header for a 2 amp usb port for charging devices. that doesnt work either.
I have tried my friends note 2 charger and that doesn't work. my battery charges fine in his phone.
my port is working fine for data transfer. my phone shows up in odin as well.

Could be a bad USB port then.

Note that at stock the phone kernel is not written to make actual use of a 2A Usb line. IIRC stock kernel limits to sub 1A.

I have exactly the same problem: phone starts loading..I see a grey battery icon with a loading circle, then just for 2-3 seconds the green icon
and finally it stops. I have tried everything..differents charger, computer, and have seen posts with people with that problem but noone says how it finally was solved. Any help?
Same here
I have Gummy ROM 4.4.4 installed everything works fine except charging the phone while powered off results in the grey battery icon freeze
I am hoping someone may be able to help me here. My Galaxy Note has been working perfectly for me without issue since I have gotten. Yesterday I charged it to 100%, and took it off the charger as I didn't need to charge it anymore, and wasn't planning on using it until today. Well today I go to turn it on, and I get nothing. No lights, no screen flashes, no sounds. When I plug it into the charger I get nothing as well. I have tried to remove the battery, and put it back and that doesn't work. I've tried all the different power and volume/home combinations I can think of but nothing has worked. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this, or any advice of what the problem may even be.
Try to plug in for 15 minutes and see what happens.
I got a scare with no way to turn it on, but once I plugged it with external battery for few minutes and it came back up charging.
I've tried with the stock Samsung charger and I've gotten nothing. I've been charging it since this morning.
If you have something to read DC than could pull the battery again and see if it has a charge. Just my first thought.

Have you tried a new charger or cable? Both may be defective.
Like the future says I'm having serious issues with my battery i can leave it to charge for a whole day and it will only charge about 5% if i use the tablet plugged and use the tablet it will discharge about 3%an hour I'm using the stock charger with stock USB I've tried different chargers and there even worst i have gone back to stock several times and no difference to charge issue I've read that chagrin to full and then deleteing battery. Bin file should fix this issue and it didn't fix at all do i opened the back panel and pulled the battery for about 5 mins still nothing now I've completely wiped internal memory then installed cm12 rom and still nothing in posting a pic to show how it's been plugged while screen on and the battery is depleting at the same time
It's it possible to find out if my battery is damaged
Try using a different USB cable. I started out with the stock white one that came with the unit, and later on, I was finding that it was taking 5+ hours to charge fully when it used to only take about 2.5 hours. I swapped the cable with an old cable I used with my Blackberry (used the same Samsung wall charger though) and it started charging normally again. It seems those stock white USB cables go bad over time, which is weird but true.
