Note 8 completely died - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I am hoping someone may be able to help me here. My Galaxy Note has been working perfectly for me without issue since I have gotten. Yesterday I charged it to 100%, and took it off the charger as I didn't need to charge it anymore, and wasn't planning on using it until today. Well today I go to turn it on, and I get nothing. No lights, no screen flashes, no sounds. When I plug it into the charger I get nothing as well. I have tried to remove the battery, and put it back and that doesn't work. I've tried all the different power and volume/home combinations I can think of but nothing has worked. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this, or any advice of what the problem may even be.

Try to plug in for 15 minutes and see what happens.
I got a scare with no way to turn it on, but once I plugged it with external battery for few minutes and it came back up charging.

I've tried with the stock Samsung charger and I've gotten nothing. I've been charging it since this morning.

If you have something to read DC than could pull the battery again and see if it has a charge. Just my first thought.

Have you tried a new charger or cable? Both may be defective.

Anyone having problems charging their GN while the phone is on?

I plug my phone into the charger, the battery icon shows a thunderbolt, then after about 30 seconds, the thunderbolt goes away and it won't charge. If I turn the phone off, it charges fine.
Anyone else see this?
No but I have noticed that the phone doesn't really like to charge to 100%... for whatever reason it says fully charged but as soon as I take it off it's 90%.
Nope, but it does seem to charge very very very quickly.
Never had any problems like that. Have you tried using a different USB cable?

I think I may have over reacted. I think the at&t charger I was using is bad. I tried to charge a friends phone and it did the same thing. Charged for about 10 seconds then stopped. I then got another charger and it seems to be charging fine.

Will not power on.

So, we put the gnex on the charger last night, woke up this morning and it is totally dead. Nothing.
Tried:
Good Battery from another Gnex
Different USB charger
Removed battery/sim
Held all 3 buttons
No success. Right now its sitting on a usb charger. Any other suggestions? I've started the replacement process with VZW, but I'd like to get the data off it first, if possible.
Mine did that once, left it off the charger for awhile and when I tried it later it came up fine, I think it might have overcharged, not sure, but that is all I did, hope that helps

Try removing the battery, plug in the charger, plug in the battery.
Also, do you see anything being registered by the windows device manager when you connect it to your pc?

[Q] Problems charging/holding a charge/can't boot

Having massive issues right now. Last night I left my phone plugged in AC to charge and ran a sleep tracker app. Woke up this morning and found the phone dead. I tried unplugging and plugging again multiple times and managed to get the Red LED blinking then it went steady indicating it was charging. Turned the phone on but as if it wasn't charging anymore, it powered off within minutes. I managed to get recovery running and factory reset (running CM10). Same issue still there. I even tried leaving the phone in hboot and recovery to charge but after 10 mins the battery went flat again. Now I've just left the phone off and plugged into AC. The blinking LED came on again then went steady - but after 15 mins the LED light disappears. I just left it like that, now the phone tries to boot up but gets stuck at HTC logo. Also it is incredibly hot.
Any ideas? Really need help here.
Additional info, installed NFS: Most Wanted yesterday, tried playing but phone really overheated big time. Could that have cause the motherboard to fry? Just seems odd though cause it boots up fine, just won't stay on - can't even get past the initial setup wizard.
Also I would take it back to Vodafone AU but since I can't get the phone up long enough to restore to stock, they might find out I've rooted and thus voiding my warranty.
I had the same problem. I installed NFS MW and it drained my battery like help and when i tried recharging it it wouldnt charge
at all. Even when i pluged the phone on it wouldnt charge. Tried a different cable. For all it could be a adapter/cable problem.
That was what it was for me. I tried a different charger and it worked. If you are using a different charger, use something with 1A output.
If the led is blinking, it means that the battery is verryy low.
once your phone turns on, turn the airplane mode ON and display OFF and wait a few minutes before using the phone.
no luck

Yea, I tried using a different cable, even tried using my old iPod USB to wall adapter. No luck there, but I think I'm on to something now. Thanks anyway
getting there

Hey, yea I figured that much from searching around. Too bad it's such a big flaw. I couldn't sustain a charge at all when I was still on CM10. Couldn't even finish booting up and it would just die. Voltage was super low was my guess. Tried using the fastboot charging script (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658084&page=5) and managed to get battery up enough to flash stock boot.img, did a nandroid restore to Stock ROM then flashed stock recovery. Seems to be stable now, in airplane mode and display off. Started up phone at 4% and now it's at 6% so fingers crossed :fingers-crossed: Thanks for the reply though - needing all the tips I can get!

Nexus has no sign of life, For no good reason

I was walking down the road using my phone and it died.
No problem right.
I get home and plug it up to my usb cable to my laptop and don't think anything of it.
I check it 20 minutes later or so and it hasn't charged a wink.
So I plug it into the wall.
Official Samsung Nexus charger by the way.
20 minutes later. Nothing.
So I do some searching follow all the reccomendations for similar problems and still no dice.
So far It's been plugged up to the wall for a little over an hour and still has no sign of life.
I've tried taking the battery our for a minute, Still nothing. Wont turn on plugged up without that battery.
Any advice? Or thoughts?

[Q] Sprint Note II Charging Issues.

Alright, I'll try to be as brief but detailed as I can.
I just got my note II 3 days ago. I used what little charge it had out of the box until it died, and plugged it into my computer to charge it overnight.
I woke up and it was fully charged. I used all of the battery and plugged it in to charge the next night as well. only this time, I woke up to find it hadn't charged a bit.
I tried to plug it in to a different charger, and I saw no charging icon. I rebooted the phone, and I got the charging logo. it only charged for about 10 minutes before it stopped charging. I tried to reboot it again and got the same issue. so I spent a while trying different chargers and cables until it was totally dead.
Now, when I plug it in I get a gray battery icon with a loading circle in the middle, and then it goes away. I tried leaving it for several hours like that, but it didn't charge at all.
I read on several sites, including this one I think, that it might be a software issue. I tried flashing to a stock recovery rom with Odin but that didn't do any good.
the weird thing is, I can get into the recovery menu, and let it sit there for hours, so the phone IS receiving power from the charger. it just wont charge!
I took apart the phone to check out the solder on the connector, everything looks perfect. I even sprayed it out with electronics cleaner spray.
I'm not sure what else I can do besides get a new battery, but I mean, this one is brand freakin' new!
What exactly does this battery icon mean? I can't find any info on it or anything.
btw, I still can boot into android, but it instantly dies.
thanks for any help!
I had the same issue about a month after I got my note II. I ended up having to take it back to the sprint store. They ordered a new one for me and I swapped it out once it arrived. It didn't cost a thing and I had a backup phone to use while my phone was dead. Check with your local store and see what they can do for you.
I bought my phone from ebay (new) so I dont think that will work : (
some updated info though, I charged the batter using a friends note 2, and it charged fine. I stuck it in my note 2 and plugged in the charger.
it says its charging on my phone. I get the charging symbol and everything, but it just doesn't charge. I'm really starting to think this IS a software issue. maybe I should try a custom rom.
Factory reset could help.

I tired that but it didn't help. : (
Charging the phone on the usb from the computer is not the best as the battery is a beast..... there is a reason the stock wsll chsrger is 2 amps .... most computer usb are maybe 1/4 that so that is probably your issue....
Thanks

Like I said, I have tried many chargers. my Asus motherboard has a header for a 2 amp usb port for charging devices. that doesnt work either.
I have tried my friends note 2 charger and that doesn't work. my battery charges fine in his phone.
my port is working fine for data transfer. my phone shows up in odin as well.

Could be a bad USB port then.

Note that at stock the phone kernel is not written to make actual use of a 2A Usb line. IIRC stock kernel limits to sub 1A.

I have exactly the same problem: phone starts loading..I see a grey battery icon with a loading circle, then just for 2-3 seconds the green icon
and finally it stops. I have tried everything..differents charger, computer, and have seen posts with people with that problem but noone says how it finally was solved. Any help?
Same here
I have Gummy ROM 4.4.4 installed everything works fine except charging the phone while powered off results in the grey battery icon freeze
