[Q] GS3 charging accessories w/ Note 2. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have a 3rd party charger for a GS3 that also works on my company issued GS2.
Does anyone know if the GS3 desktop chargers will work the Note 2. Based on depth dimensions I would say yes but obviously anyone that has one and can test I would appreciate it.
Regards,

Most likely. My Captivate chargers charge my husband's Rugby. I'm hoping the same car charger and wall chargers will fit the Note 2.

Yes, the beauty of standardized ports like micro usb is it will work with anything. The only issue you would have is if the Note needs 2 amp input, and then you can just buy a different AC block and use the same cable.

Ah, cradle wise I'll have to buy one - there's no way the Note will fit in my desktop dock.

Wall charger ...

Hi,
Can you use the wall charger from the Galaxy Tab 7" ?
Please if you have both devices to try it.
I would like to import this new 10.1" to Europe, The Netherlands.
And I am wondering the wall charger requirements.
Thanks.
I would also be interested to know if the charging cable is compatible between the original Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Yes it works. I'm using my cable that came with my 10.1 to keep plugged into my PC and I'm currently charging my 10.1 on the cable that came with my 7. It went from 0 to 50% so far no problems. Not sure if it charges any faster/slower than the one that came with it but I'd assume they are the same.
Thanks, so I can order NL gt 7 charger for my US gt 10.1 for use here in NL.

Thanks for that. Picked up a couple of genuine Samsung chargers from Tesco in the UK for £4.97 each (reduced from something like £40!). Potential UK buyers might want to grab a spare while they can!
i think he was saying that the cable will work. The charger might not. I was trying to use my cable with other USB wall chargers but the device won't charge on them... my guess is because they are less than 2ah. I would make sure the specs on the tab 7 charger match up to the 10.1 charger to be safe
The Galaxy Tab charger I picked up today is rated at 2A so it should be OK, with any luck!
cable and charger both work. both chargers are 5v 2A. one reason why it charges slower than the xoom and tf.
on the upside it does trickle charge via standard usb. my tf won't and of course my ex xoom wouldn't.
Sweet, i'm gonna have to pick one of these up then
Wow, those chargers are expensive on amazon. Does anyone know where to get cheap ones?
Ebay is probably the best place for all things cheap, unless you're wanting a samsung branded charger
Haven't checked for the exact right one but dealextreme.com has been the best in the past for misc electronics cheap.
good to know that. like many android gadgets, once you have it, next natural thing is to put several chargers in several places.

Probably if anyone can post photo / link to the gt tab 7 charger?
So, we all know what to look for specific.
I hate how you can't just plug it into any usb. I have usb adapters everywhere and it would be nice if I could charge it while plugged into my computer
I posted this in another thread, but with these adapters, you can charge off ANY USB port;
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330565218553&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123
I've bought two, leave one at home and the other comes travelling with me.
I also use a few third party cables designed for the original Galaxy Tab and they work fine. So happy to be able to charge my 10.1v anywhere

it does, but it seems like 1% per 3 min. just plug it in and see. it's the only honeycomb tablet that i've had that actually does charge via usb (xoom, tf, and gt101). the tf doesn't, but i'm sure it would if i had usb 3.0.

I really want a wall charger I can throw in my flight bag. Anyone have one they've found on eBay that charges the Tab 10.1? I really don't want to drop $40 for the OEM, ouch!

Seriously, why not buy one of the adapters that I posted about and use any charger you want? I think I paid about $7 Australian for two and now I can keep using all of the USB wall and car chargers I have amassed over the years owning Win Mobile and Android phones
If your heart is really set on buying a proper wall charger, if it says it will charge a Galaxy Tab (original) or iPad, it should charge the 10.1

[Q] External Charger for Galaxy Tab 10.1

Any suggestions on an external battery? Woudl hate to buy battery with the wrong rating, have been using one for when I travel to charge my phone at least 3 times when away from a socket especially overseas

Needs to be able to supply 2A.
Tab will not charge unless it sees D+ and D- shorted together at about 1.24 volts (See the "make your own cables" thread and the "universal charging adapter" schematic)
I believe the Tab's internal battery is something like 6-7 AH. So the external battery will need to be a 8-9 AH Li-Ion to get one full tab charge (Charging isn't 100% efficient). That's around 4 18650s.
Don't have the expertise to make own cable, has anyone bought any external battery they can recommend?
I've used one for my phones for 3 years, I just change the cable and get 3 charges per full charge, a life saver for a frequent traveler

I think there's a universal charging adapter available from DealExtreme - I don't have the link, read through some of the other charger threads. Might try searching DX for "P1000"
I have a PhoneSuit Primo Power Core. It's a 7000mah battery that comes with charging adapters for several devices including the Tab. Works great.

Can you clarify what you mean by "adapters ... including the Tab"?
I picked one up from Fry's and it works, but it requires me to use my Samsung cable that came with the tablet. I can trickle charge that way, and it does come with an adapter that provides the proper resistance to get the tab into "AC" charge mode, but there is no GT specific cable in the kit.
Is there another version that does come with a GT specific cable?
And does it need the resistance adapter?

Mine came with several adapters that works with various devices including my Tab. It had a USB cable with a round opening at the end and the adapters slide into the end of it. You might contact the company if yours didn't come with it..

Yes, mine came with that cable and a bunch of adapters including one that looked close but just wouldn't fit into the tab's slot so I assumed it was for iThings. I'll try it again and check the company's support site...

Where to buy original charger?

I need a new charger and i would like it to be original, do you know where to find it?
Nope. And ive looked. Too many fakes anyway and low quality chargers. I use my moto, n1 and an atnt charger for my a/c chargers. And a dual port sony a/c usb charger.
...
I bought one from Amazon just last week. It matches 100%.
The picture on the amazon link shows the micro end of the usb to be off center. The cable I received is identical to the one from Samsung, down to the texture of the cable.

I bought the Galaxy S2 charger, its a normal charger without the socket + usb lead, so it allows me to keep the usb plugged into my PC while i can have the AC charger somewhere else. you can pretty much pick them up anywhere, i got a genuine one from eBay:

You can try to get a Sony EP850 charger.
The output is 1.5A which charges very fast. I'm satisfied with it!
I just bought this one but haven't received it yet. It looks identical, though apparently it's for the Galaxy Note. Same voltage/amperage though, so I bet its exactly the same thing.

Any microUSB charger with output of 5V/1A will work, but you can find some charger with 5V/2.1A which will also work tablets and support future products.

Actually, I've tried one of my micro USB charger with 2A output.
GN just wont charge on this charger.
But GN charges well with my Nokia 1.2A and Sony 1.5A charger.
I have a charger with 4 usb connector at 5V/2A and it work ok.

[Q] Note 2 Charger in Note 3 Box

OK I don't know why this thread was closed, it was definitely not resolved... I think you guys misread my question... The Note 2 does NOT have the same charger as the Note 3... The Note 3 uses a USB3.0 cable which has a different A/C adapter that looks very similar but is a different part and I guess the problem is that it works differently with the 3.0 cable. My phone was sold, NEW by T-Mobile with the wrong A/C adapter in the box... To those of you that replied that it's the same charger, you're wrong. It's clearly a different kind of cable, even if the adapter part looks similar. And to whoever closed the topic, i understand moving it to the questions section (sorry about that) but the question hadn't been resolved at all. I was wondering if anyone had the same situation happen and any tips on how to deal with T-Mobile on this situation... Here is the original post below:
Has this happened to anyone else? My friend said he saw similar threads but I just did a search and couldn't find any...
My T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 apparently came with a Note 2 a/c adapter. I found this out because after about a week, the USB3.0 cable stopped charging my Note 3. Luckily I can still charge with older microUSB cables, but I called T-Mobile for a replacement and they claimed they don't have replacement cables yet because it's so new and I should call Samsung. So I called Samsung, they said to send in the cable and a/c adapter and they'd replace it. But then today I got an email that they're cancelling my replacement because what I sent is NOT a Galaxy Note 3 charger and is in fact Item# ETA-U90JWEBXAR (obviously this is in reference for the a/c adapter part and not the USB3.0 cable which is a 3.0 cable).
So anyway now I'm waiting for my cable and a/c adapter to get back to me so I can go back to T-Mobile and complain. I have a really bad feeling that they're gonna fight me on this and claim I switched the chargers or something. Has anyone had this issue and have any tips on how to make it right?
Thanks
BTW I apologize in advance if A/C adapter is the wrong term haha. I think it is, but after typing it like 10 times in the above paragraphs it's starting to sound like gibberish...

Have you tried going to a tmobile store? And just to let you know, the two chargers perform the same function. As long as the charger is a 2A charger, then it will charge the phone the exact same way.
And about the thread closing, a mod here has been going crazy with closing threads in the Q&A section.
The USB 3.0 cable is the only difference. The charger is the same even though different part #. I have both charger and they're the same. I even have a tablet charger and that is quite different, color and shape, but it works all the same.

see i thought that they'd work the same too. so that's good to know, and i didn't try the 3.0 cable in a different a/c adapter before mailing it back to them.
also, like i said in the post up above i'll be going to the t-mobile store as soon as i get the charger back from samsung in the mail. but when it first stopped working and i called t-mobile they said they don't even have replacement cables to give... so between that and samsung saying t-mobile put the WRONG a/c adapter in the box... i have a feeling i'm gonna have a HUGE problem getting a replacement from t-mobile, which is why i made this post... to ask if anyone else has had a situation like this.
The n3 charger output is 5.3vdc and the n2 is 5.0vdc. That's just because of the bigger battery on n3. Thou it doesn't hurt anything because both are rated at 2.0A.

So lets say I get T-Mobile to replace the A/C adapter and 3.0 wire and it still doesn't work... Is there a chance just the 3.0 charging portion of my phone is damaged somehow and not the microUSB charing port? Would that even make any sense? Gonna really suck if I have to get my phone replaced...
I doubt the 3.0 is damaged as the pins are only active when you connect it to a 3.0 port in a pc.

yea that's why i was thinking the note 2 a/c adapter that came with it just simply doesn't support 3.0 cables and maybe that's where my problem lies... hopefully t-mobile will replace it. bah.

Odd car charger with 2 outputs

Hi there. My mother asked me how to use this charger. It is the most illogical thing I've ever seen.
I've attached a photo. How can I use the microUSB output if there is another output soldered to it?
Thanks
You mean you never heard of USB 3.0 micro B cable/connector used in phones like Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy S5?!?
Not a very popular option, but it's backward compatible with a regular micro-USB.

Unfortunately, that's a limitation But in Note 4 they got rid off it! See, the whole point of that additional connector was to provide more pins for faster data rates and more power. USB3.0 can supply more current which USB 2.0 can't handle. But those connectors are very uncommon, and now with phones like Note 4 you can use those ultra-fast 9V chargers for a faster charging anyway. Either way, I'm glad they are not using it with newer phones, but you can use a regular micro-usb connector with those USB3.0 mico-b connectors, it's fully backward compatible.
