Hi there. My mother asked me how to use this charger. It is the most illogical thing I've ever seen.
I've attached a photo. How can I use the microUSB output if there is another output soldered to it?
Thanks
You mean you never heard of USB 3.0 micro B cable/connector used in phones like Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy S5?!?
Not a very popular option, but it's backward compatible with a regular micro-USB.

No, I had never heard about that. So I can use it only on S5 and Note 3, right?

Unfortunately, that's a limitation But in Note 4 they got rid off it! See, the whole point of that additional connector was to provide more pins for faster data rates and more power. USB3.0 can supply more current which USB 2.0 can't handle. But those connectors are very uncommon, and now with phones like Note 4 you can use those ultra-fast 9V chargers for a faster charging anyway. Either way, I'm glad they are not using it with newer phones, but you can use a regular micro-usb connector with those USB3.0 mico-b connectors, it's fully backward compatible.

I have a 3rd party charger for a GS3 that also works on my company issued GS2.
Does anyone know if the GS3 desktop chargers will work the Note 2. Based on depth dimensions I would say yes but obviously anyone that has one and can test I would appreciate it.

Most likely. My Captivate chargers charge my husband's Rugby. I'm hoping the same car charger and wall chargers will fit the Note 2.
Yes, the beauty of standardized ports like micro usb is it will work with anything. The only issue you would have is if the Note needs 2 amp input, and then you can just buy a different AC block and use the same cable.

Ah, cradle wise I'll have to buy one - there's no way the Note will fit in my desktop dock.
So...I'm on a research adventure to figure out which MHL adapter to buy.
I know that the GS3 and GNII use an 11 pin setup. I don't want a dock [yet] and don't care about USB OTG simultaneously while displaying HDMI (although I might pick one up in the future). Right now I want an MHL adapter that:
1. Has zero or almost NO lag while mirroring so I can game
2. Charges while plugged in (some people have reported slowly losing charge...and I am on the Perseus kernel right now as some have reported better charging functionality)
3. Displays 1080p or 720p with no flickering and no choppiness (the display is 720p...so I would be fine with showing only 720p...I don't really care about 1080)
I'm fine with getting an original 5 pin MHL and a 5 to 11 pin adapter...but the above points must stay intact.
Anyone have an opinion? Am I missing anything I should care about?
i use mhl on my note daily
buy the official gs3 mhl connector and you'll have zero problems. with a wall charger you'll never have trouble getting things charged. if you are in the car using the perseus kernel youo'll be fine as well, the stock kernel is a different story though you'll need a really powerful charger to get it to work in the car.

Yeh. I read that thread about car charging without the Perseus kernel. I was hoping someone would respond about a MHL adapter they had that was a 5 pin and they got an adapter for the 5 to 11. But, since the mod moved this thread to the q and a area from the General area no one is responding. Kinda funny, since the general area has a ton of question and answer discussions.
I ordered these:

Just yesterday.
Yeah I am a little cheap. But I read this setup works perfectly on the GS3 (and so it should on the Note 2). I guess I will see if that's right.
the skiva 5 pin mhl all in one adapter on amazon..no need to carry an hdmi cord or extra charging cord. Works for every other phone...bought the white 5 pin to 11 pin adapter on monoprice..works for my note 2 now..best of both worlds...can use for the note and my wife's nexus. Picture is 1080p...displays whole screen and doesn't cut it off at all...played a quick game..didn't notice any lag. I'm very happy with my purchases.
edit: JUST NOTICED IT'S SHOWING IN 1080i...no matter what I play. Going to have to research why now

Issue may be on the 500mah max on mhl 5 pin adapters. You may need to use the perseus kernel and the "screen standby app to not constantly drain your bsttery while using hdmi. Im also wondering about the delay. I have another similar setup in mind.

Charging with the car does suck. Using GPS on a trip the phone died along the trip. I bought a higher Amp usb car charger by Scoche (something like that) which worked great. I was on a galaxy s2 then and stopped by FYE to find it for $15. The company itself makes good stuff maybe you could look for them for better charging.

Trick with the car adapter is having one that does 1 AMP (1000MAH) OR higher and is either shorted (two center data pins) with a soldering iron, OR you have a cable that has the green/white wires shorted.
You can also buy a data only charge USB cable from Amazon.
Edit: Currently I have a 2.1 car adapter which I have shorted a USB extension cable (as to not ruin a perfectly good data cable).
How to (super easy really):

Yes, a double Android car charger, meaning that it has two usb ports designated for charging Android phones - on each port, the D-/+ data pins are shorted. On every one I've seen it's either 1x Android+1x Apple or 2x Apple. I would really love to charge a Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 at the same time at full speed... anyone know how to solve my dilemma?
I have found on Amazon dual charge but does will charger both ?
i guess it can
you should take care that the alimentator can output at least 2Amps.

Have you seen these ones. Says they're Dual http://www.poeticcases.com/chargers
You should buy an original one if you don't want your phone's battery ruined fast.
I used to charge my phone in my car alot (Samsung Note 2) and the battery needs to be replaced now.
I'll recommend you to use Avantek. It has good reputation on Amazon and I'm also using this for my two Note 2. It has dual USB port Charger to Five USB port Car charger. You can choose any of them as per your need. Lets Rock!! :good:
I'm sure you'll find something on eBay. You'll be surprised what specific items they have.
Got one on Amazon, no charge on both...
I use Avantek for my HTC One and my wife’s Nexus 5. It has 5 USB ports and, if the specs are right, there should be 2 voltage inverters in the charger so that two Android phones can be charged simultaneously at full speed. FYI most chargers have 1 voltage inverter.
So Im in desperate need of at least one more Wall charge for my galaxy note 8.0 and Galaxy S4. The only problem is they're either pretty expensive for the more legit products, or sketchy. I just need the white box part that goes into the wall outlet. SO incredibly embarrassing and frustrating that I can't seem to figure out what it's actually called. In any case, through my searches I found this:
Qmadix 4.4A USB Triple Travel Charging Hub
It allows for three ports, but each port is designated differently. well, okay... two are the same (1A), but ones different (2.4A). I have no clue about electricity, except to know if you don't use the samsung recommended converters it could damage the battery in the long run. Im under the impression that both of my devices require 2.0A. Does this mean only the 2.4A port would work?
Is anyone familiar with this Item Ive listed? Could I use this device to power bot my Galaxy Note 8.0 AND Galaxy S4 at the same time?
It seems like such a great deal and very compact. Can't pass up without at least asking about it.
again, Im asking about the:
Qmadix 4.4A USB Triple Travel Charging Hub

I appreciate the reply. I had actually seen that and immediately fell in love... but I just as quickly wrote it off because of the additional cable thats required to plug it into an outlet. I need something more compact... something with collapsible prongs.
Another one I was looking at is this one iXCC Dual USB 4.2 Amp (20 Watt) SMART High Capacity AC Travel Wall Charger...
Any thought?
Ports listed as 1A might still be able to supply 2A for your phone, but they might be right at the top of their current limiting (thus running warmer). The whole thing about using only Samsung provided charger is just to scare you off so you buy their original overpriced accessories But there is a truth to it as well, when you buy cheap stuff from ebay where they sell 1A rated outputs labeled with 2A and can run into a problem above (overheating, which causes short, which can cause a damage to your phone). Anker is a trusted brand with a decent quality control, RAVPower is good, and I heard of QMadix before as well.
Here is a problem. When you are dealing with wall outlet converters with multiple outputs that carry a lot of heat/power, you are too close to the main electrical outlet. So, I would be careful not too overload these. Maybe using 2 devices plugged in at a time is ok, but NEVER 3 at a time. When you have something like that 40W Anker converter, you are placing it away from the outlet, it exposed to air circulation from every side (cooling it better), and it should have some fuse or internal protection in case of a short. I understand, for convenience you need wall converter that plugs in, but make sure you get a double one, not the triple output one because i would consider those to be not as reliable when you are charging 3 devices at the same time while plugged into a single wall outlet directly.
Anker also make this one: www.amazon.com/Anker®-4-Port-Charger-Travel-Adapter/dp/B00EI8SS4U/ - but I would not load more than 2 ports at a time. Or if you load 3 or 4 ports, make sure it's not overnight when you are sleeping and that all 4 charging devices are not drawing max current
Btw, one quick question... The Anker 40W 5-port USB wall charger... Should I only charge 2 devices at a time with it aswell? or was that referring only to chargers that plug directly into the wall because of the heat issue?

You can use all 5 ports on that one (40W version that doesn't plug into wall outlet directly). That how I do it all the way, mostly using 4 ports at once to charge my Note 2, my Metawatch smartwatch, my mp3/DAP player, and external battery. Sometime also add my wireless headset too
Since most third party chargers don't work anymore with the KitKat update, did anyone try an external battery?
All chargers works, just depends on cable and not chargers or kitkat. You get faster(slwoer charging depends on charger and quality of the cable.
For u question, I used Trent 11000 mah external battery pack, 5V 1Amp and with 3rd part usb cable, that are only for charging, without "data pins". It charging at 500 mah when screen is on, screen off at 930-980 mah and working as normal.
I dont know where u get that kitkat have anything to do with 3rd part chargers doesnt works.

Well my third party chargers stop charging when the screen turns off. Even if I use the USB cable that came with the Note. However, old chargers of HTC or Motorola phones do work with any USB cable. And I have read this from several other users as well.
I'm on stock 4.4.2 with stock recovery. What recovery/kernel/ROM do you use?
I only use third party chargers and cables and have never had a problem.

The problem is Samsungs OEMs usb cable. I found it kinda weird, probably Samsungs have some kinda "handshake" with data pins and I got few of them from old Note 1/2/2014 and somehow it doesnt charge mine old Note 2 anylonger.
I got 4 of Samsunsg OEMs USB cables that comes along with Note 1/2/2014/EED100 (Desktop chagerstand) and I dont know anylonger which one is for each device. If I use wrong Samsungs usb cable, it charge mine Note 2 very slow, battery also drops while charging and I got to pick right usb cable for it to charge normal.
Now I just use this usb cable to charge mine Note 2014, too lazy to swap cable until find correct one and it works fine with any charger.

I tried using the Note charger with different USB cables and it works. Using third party chargers with Note cable does not work, but using HTC/Motorola chargers with any cable does. So I think the problem is with the charger, not the cable. Are you sure you used the Note charger with diferent cables and it didn't work?
Using a 1.0A charger charges the device obviuosly slower but the third party chargers (also 1.0A) stop when the screen is off or the device is powered down.

Alright, I'm now officially out of ideas why this only affects some devices. Would you mind telling me what model you have?

Might be it's a bug in the 605 ROM/kernel. Or maybe related to the snapdragon 800 chip. Maybe Samsung screwed up some drivers, intentionally or not.
If anyone is having charge issues, change your cables. There's nothing special about a "Samsung" cable, but there's a lot of cheap cables out there that have enough voltage drop on them that they won't allow adequate charging. Also, make sure your charger is doing "AC" charging, not "USB" charging- the Note won't draw more than 500mA from USB charging and you may either experience slow charging or none at all if you're using it.
I'm running a P607T (US T-Mobile) model with the German P605 ROM (which should rule out "locale" differences), and my Note charges from any third-party charger I have and/or my Gorilla Gadgets charger battery just fine, whether screen is on or off.
Like I said before, my third party charger stops charging when the screen turns off, even if I use the cable that came with the Note. In settings under battery it says "charging - AC" but still.
It may very well be that these chargers are too "cheap".
The Samsung cable misses one of the two ground connectors. This method was used for devices with mini (!) usb to put them either in power or data transfer mode, depending on the cable used.
However, the Note don't care, I charge it with a 5pin-cable.
The charger should be fully Android - and Apple compatible, as the Note most likely checks for Ipad-compatible signals on the data lines for 2A support.
The USB Port of the P600 is really weird.....I`m searching a long time for a solution to use USB and charging at the same time, and I`m testing a lot of dockingg Stations for this.....thats really strange.....the Multimedia Dock, made for the Note 2, works with the Note 3, without Problems, alll Ports are working....but P600 doesnt accept it as any docking stations, it do absolutely NOTHING, if you put it in.....with the new desktop dock (without usb) both devices will accept it as an "Docking Station"...other Adapters, like Hama, with SD Card Reader, USB and micro USB, will accept as an USB connector, all works, but not charging......but now, the LAN to USB Adapter from Samsung for the PRO Tab Series, wich have 2 x USB, LAN and Charging Inputs, works fine, except the LAN Port......think, there no drivers there at P600.....The USB Port is not same pinned as the Note 3, and also not same as the Note 10.1 and other older Tabs.......maybe it`s same pinned as the PRO Series.....but not sure......
