I'm new to rooting and recently i attempted to root my Samsung galaxy S3 it using the Samsung galaxy S3 toolkit V5. My build was not listed so i selected build #1, I installed the drivers to my pc, went to rooting options, selected option #3 All In One, Enabled USB debugging ans started the process which opened up Odin and started doing its thing, but basically my phone was in Odin mode with the android figure which says downloading... Do not turn off target! but of course I thought it wasn't working and i had to unplug the USB and put it back in (I know I'm stupid Lol)
Now my phone will not boot at all, when i hold up volume power and home a battery image shows up and the phone shuts off again even though its plugged into my computer.
When i hold volume down power and home, this shows up: Warning! A custom os can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications
if you want to download a custom os press the volume up key, otherwhise press volume down to restart phone.
If i press voulume down it does not restart, it simply shuts off again.
If i press volume up it goes back to the downloading android even though it isnt downloading anything.
At the top left corner it says:
ODIN MODE
Product name: SGH-I747M
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (3 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
My phone is not even detected on my computer or by the toolkit anymore, Im not sure if Odin detects it either.
I cant find any help regarding my specific problem and im starting to lose hope. Please help.

Thanks for the help so far, i used your method but the installation failed so I selected wipe the cache and reboot my phone and when it rebooted it stayed stuck at the blue light and Samsung logo. Now no matter what i do, when the phone restarts it stays stuck at that logo.
When i go back to Odin mode it it says there are now 5 custom binary downloads.
Did you also wipe data/factory reset along with clearing the cache/dalvik cache?
Down load stock firmware for your phone at Samsung.com and flash it in Odin. You can reset flash count with triangle away.

ATT Galaxy S3 stuck at boot (Guys rename the thread)
Guys,
I have a rooted AT&T Galaxy S3. While doing a nandroid recovery, I got an error and the phone was stuck on Samsung Logo. I did the following:
1. Booted into download mode
2. With ODIN I uploaded the stock rooted tar file root69.stock_ATT_I747UCALG1.tar
3. The ODIN passed just fine, however the phone would boot, AT&T logo and than stuck at small SAMSUNG screen with blue light blinking
Found the solution to my problem here:
hxxp://rootgalaxys3iii.com/galaxy-s3-stuck-at-boot
However the 1 click root with CWM installed is for i9300 on the above thread. I need a way to root my phone with ODIN and get CWM installed using AT&T image. I dont care about flash counter. Right now, its just about making my phone alive.
Please help!

This thread didnt help. However I was able to fix my phone. Since I was not able to boot the phone, I was not able to turn on USB debugging that many softwares inluding the link you have mentioned required. So this is what I did for the benefit of those who may face this in the future:
1. Booted into the download mode vol- + power+ home key
2. When in download mode, I installed clockwork recovrey for ATT Samsung S3 which can be found at many links. I cant paste her as I dont have the rights to post links yet. But the filename was CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.0.tar. The file I downloaded had a .tar.md5 ext, I just deleted the.md5 extension so I was left with CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.0.tar
3. Than I used Odin and selected the above file as PDA and left everything else at default
4. The phone rebooted but again was going to go into the unending samsung logo. So shutdown the phone.
5. Than I did vol+ + home + power key and THANKFULLY booted into recovery
6. Thereone it was simple, that is restore factory defaults, wipe cache, wipe delvik cache etc etc. and boom. I am back in my phone.
Thank god, almost had a mini stroke!!!
P.S. Had lost root upon reboot. Did many things but device would keep loosing root. I went to CWM recovery and selected "fix permissions" bang.. phone back to how I used to like it rooted and booted!

Having same issue with SGH-T889. Any help? Heard of similar issue with Nexus 4. They have revert recovery disabler. Not tried on my Note 2. Is similar solution available for T889?
After flashing recovery in Odin are you booting up the phone (or is odin - i.e. auto reboot is checked)? There is a file (/system/etc/install-recovery.sh) that you need to disable to have recovery "stick". There are a few ways to do this, but my preference has been to do it within cwm/twrp recovery via adb after flashing in odin but prior to first bootup of phone.
Hope that helps!
Ive had luck un-checking auto-reboot in odin, flashing recovery, wait for it to say pass, unplug USB, pull battery, and boot straight into recovery by holding home + vol up when powering on.
This can be dangerous so make sure odin is completely done before unplugging.

I know you can't access CWM Recovery..
Allot of us use TWRP Recovery and it works great. I think it is safe to say it is a Superior Recovery now. I suggest you use that Recovery.
You can get it installed easily by downloading GooManager from the play store, opening the app, hit your menu button and tap Install Open Recovery Script. That's it. Quick and easy!
For the people having a hard time, are you rooted? If you are just download goomanager and use it to install twrp

You need to post more info if possible but it sounds like you are trying to downgrade from MA7 to an earlier firmware like LK8. The update included a security patch so it won't let you go back to insecure. Try pulling the sboot out of whatever you are trying to flash or stick with MA7

It's not brick cuz odin can still see your phone. If you dont have TWRP on it, go to www.twrp.com and download the tar file for sprint note 2. Then use Odin to flash it. Once you are done that, go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769 to get either the old LJC or MA7 and put it in your phone either internal or external SD. Do the wipe cache/factory reset first. Then flash it. It will go back to stock rom.
Help
Hello even though its old I figured I would post here first instead of starting a new thread, my friend has a Note 2 for Sprint never rooted or custom ROM flashed and he said it was sitting on the charger and when he woke up in the morning it was off and after attempting to power the device on it stays stuck on the Samsung logo. I cant get Kies to recognize the device at all not matter what pc is use however it shows up in Odin but it fails everything from stock files ( older and current ) , different versions of Odin, recoveries and I even tried a " unbrick .tar file " . Any help at all would be appreciated I will include pics

Can you odin a custom recovery and boot into it?
1. Put phone in download mode
2. In odin program uncheck reboot and flash recovery
3. After flash disconnect phone and pull battery
4. Quickly insert and remove battery multiple times (if you just reinsert battery it will automatically boot)
5. Boot phone into recovery backup any important data that is on your internal sdcard
6. Do factory reset then flash billards stock mc2 with counter reset (do not wipe cache after flashing this)
7. Flash superuser zip found in billards Op
8. Reboot phone and freakout when see the screen do odd things and reboot (this is normal)
Now it will bootup on stock rooted mc2.

Check your device model ! Settings -> About device -> Model number. See the third post for exact supported model numbers. If your device is a totally different model, it will not work (may even brick) !
CF-Root is the root for "rooting beginners" and those who want to keep as close to stock as possible. CF-Root is meant to be used in combination with stock Samsung firmwares, and be the quickest and easiest way for your first root.
Donate
CF-Root has been available for many devices (Galaxy S1, Galaxy Tab 7", Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S3, and many more) and has clocked over 13 million downloads. This is not even counting custom ROMs that already include it. Don't be a leech, buy me a beer (and use the "Thanks" button!). Imagine if every CF-Root user has donated me $1...
What's installed
- SuperSU binary and APK
- Stock recovery
Installation and usage
Flash the CF-Auto-Root package as PDA in ODIN (details on how to do that are in next post), and your device should reboot into a modified recovery (signified by a large red Android logo) and it will install SuperSU for you and restore the stock recovery, and reboot back into Android.
If you don't get to the red Android logo, boot into recovery manually ("adb reboot recovery", or boot while holding Power+VolUp+Home).
Using this root increases your flash counter. You should run Triangle Away (see below) after rooting to reset the counter. Note that if you want to run custom kernels or custom recoveries, your flash counter will be set to 1 at every boot. Either configure Triangle Away to reset the counter at every boot (Play version only) or only reset the counter when you need to go into warranty.
Did you see the red Android logo during rooting, but SuperSU does not appear? This may sometimes occur due to left-over files and settings, however, you can usually install SuperSU from Google Play at this stage and it'll just work.
Why isn't this just called CF-Root
The traditional CF-Root's included a custom recovery (CWM, TWRP, etc) and were meant for devices that had a single kernel/recovery combination. CF-Auto-Root doesn't include a custom recovery and is meant for devices that have kernel and recovery separate (so you can manually install any custom recovery you wish). The Auto part comes from the fact that a large part of the process is automated (though it constantly needs adjusting)
Not included - Triangle Away
Triangle Away can be used to reset the flash counter after installing CF-Root. The flash counter keeps track of how many custom firmwares you have flashed, as this voids warranty. (No idea what this about ? Read up on it, you will want to use this !)
Not included - adbd Insecure
As this CF-Root does not include a custom kernel, adb shell does not have root access by default (you can still get it by typing su inside the shell), nor is adb remount supported, nor will adb push and adb pull work on system files. adbd Insecure can be used to remedy this situation. (No idea what this is about ? Don't worry about it !)

ODIN Installation (detailed)
Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Download and unzip the CF-Auto-Root-....zip file (see posts below this one)
- If you end up with a recovery.img and cache.img file, you've extracted twice. You need to end up with a .tar.md5 file - don't extract that one
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start Odin3-vX.X.exe
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Auto-Root-....tar.md5
- Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolDown+Home+Power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button, or run adb reboot download command)
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure Repartition is NOT checked
- Click the Start button
- Wait for Android to boot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install root and such, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process.
New to Samsung? Unfamiliar with Odin? Think all the above is a hassle? Get used to it. It's very simple, and us Samsung folk use Odin (or Mobile ODIN ) for everything! It's so very very convenient once you get used to it. Notice the 30 second comment above? For experienced users, the entire process indeed takes only 30 seconds!
You may now optionally want to install and run Triangle Away to reset the flash counter.

So is it official that triangle away is working for the SGH-M919? I've been following the thread but haven't seen anything in terms of our device being covered.

What he means is stock everything and rooted, you can't have a custom kernel and have it work you need to be completely stock build for it to work otherwise it will show as custom. The idea is to reset the device to stock and use triangle away to reset the counter then it'll be as if it was never rooted.

What he means is stock everything and rooted, you can't have a custom kernel and have it work you need to be completely stock build for it to work otherwise it will show as custom. The idea is to reset the device to stock and use triangle away to reset the counter then it'll be as if it was never rooted.

Yup. But he/she said rooted OR custom kernel. In case people want to use triangle away before returning a device, they need to use it before they unroot in order to reset the counter. That previous post could confuse some people.
AT & T Galaxy Note 2 SGH-13I7
So I'm at a loss on what to do with my phone at this point..
Everything was running great until yesterday, I attempted to root it, the root attempt was unsuccesful but the phone still worked just fine and It even got shut off and turned on a few times after the failed attempt. But one time it froze up after installing an app and after that the phone got stuck on the boot screen.
So this morning I flashed the stock 4.1.2 Rom and it worked again, then I updated the phone on the device itself. OTA is what you would call it I believe. And now I'm back to where I started. The phone gets stuck on the galaxy note 2 loading screen and it wont start.
I cannot enter recovery mode in order to wipe the settings and clear the cache.
I can enter download mode however, and my attempts at flashing the stock firmware PASS on Odin but the phone only gets stuck on the loading screen again afterwards
Does anyone know what I should do?
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch
Is there any way I might be able to enter a recovery mode using an micro SD card?
To which rom you updated? Know that from newest version there is no going back.

Edit : there's a way(maybe) to get to download mode. But not sure if it will work on your phone. There is a thing called jig kick USB. You can build one yourself.

Thats probably my problem then. I was running 4.3 and the stock firmware I installed was 4.1.
Is jig kick USB used to get into download mode, if thats the case then I am already able to do that. Just not get into recovery mode.
Yes I noticed later that you can access download mode. So try to flash the rom you updated to but for your carier as your phone is from at&t you should use their rom. I don't have carrier phone so I speak theoretically. But I guess you understand what I mean.

mine is the same n7105, so how did this go, did it worked?
mine n7105 says passed and once rebooted don't pass n7105 logo, i can only enter download mode,
I'm having the exact same issue, 7100 Sprint. Odin flashes pass but still stuck on SGNII screen, can't flash recovery or ROM. Had 4.1.2 and accepted OTA mistakenly.
I literally just had this problem with my SGH-I317 and fixed it with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589891 go down to where it says "If you are running the official *MK6* firmware"
ive had something similar. had odin pass. no cwm / twrp access only stock recovery and stock downloader mode.
you need to flash a stock rom to get it back, then boot into it. connect pc. (a different usb port sometimes) get ODIN to reboot it into downloader mode. I had major problems getting to that point. but got it from flashing a stock rom. I have also had this old CM10 rom that fix's all partitions etc. i cant remember the name of it now.
a couple of times ive had issues getting into custom recovery. when you hold power +vol up + home key. when u do keep holding power. it loops boot and loops back again. when u release. make sure you hold power for like 1-2 seconds on logo. dont release power button before logo appears. wait a second after it appears. get it every time now.
Try to flash latest TWRP trough ODIN and check if you can boot in to recovery after that.
