Hey guys,
My dad has stopped using his HTC Desire HD, and I want it unlocked for other networks. It is locked to Orange. After some research, I found some threads including: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528925&page=2 which then took me to something called "attn1 aahk", but I am not sure it is suitable for this phone as they seem to focus on AT & T. Is there anything I have missed?
Otherwise, I am more than happy to buy an unlock code to spare me the trouble. From the UK though, I am not sure what is trustworthy and what actually works. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Use the software for the Desire HD. You'll find lots of guides in the sticky section of the development forum.

He thread you linked to is for unlocking the boot loader. That a has nothing to do with sim unlock. The AAHK will sim unlock your device. If you do use the kit make sure you read the manual and have a properly setup your pc. Or you'll run into trouble.

Hello, i have one piece htc wildfire which is network locked...can anyone tell me how to unlock it?
create goldcard and flash with any wwe rom you want
Hey,
I got an unlock code off of htcsimunlocknow.com but I am not sure how to enter it into my phone. It has been flashed with CM6 RC2 and it won't ask for any sort of sim unlock code even if I put an invalid sim into the phone. I know the phone is locked with the Telstra for sure!!
So if anybody knows how to enter the unlock code I would be able to say how reliable that site is!!
EDIT: THANK GOD. I had a nandroid backup of the original rom that came with the phone so I just flashed back to that. Inserted the invalid sim after the flash and it asked for the unlock code which I entered and IT WORKED!!
Also, the site i mentioned has a live chat and the fella helping me was so patient as it took my about 30mins for me to actually pay as I was stuffing around withy my paypal and he got the unlock sent to my email about 10mins after the payment went through! I'm not sure if flashing back to cm6 will make the phone locked to one network again though :/

gold cards are fairly easy to make all you need is a spear sd card (doesnt have to be very big) heres a guide: http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
As far as I know, with a goldcard you can root and debrand your phone, but not sim-unlock it.
If it is possible to remove the sim-lock using a goldcard, please explain how.
Confirmation
I confirm, I just spent the night flashing my new wildfire to simunlock it, the flashing finally worked but it is still sim locked !!!
Really very surprising, it means the simlock info is stored somewhere which was not affected by the flashing, which is quite astounding.
If you have any info about what to delete for that...
I unlocked my wildfire for 25 euro on the web. I sent my IMEI and in about 2 hours they sent the unlock code and it worked perfectly.

Who is your provider?? you can try unlock code from your provider and get your HTC wildfire unlocked..if not you can get it from online provider..just make a try with Prounlocking and get unlock code for your mobile and get it unlocked..
Go to a phone unlocking shop. I got one done for £15 in the uk. Or you could ask about and see if you know anyone with a xtc clip. As that will s-off your device and remove sim lock. Good luck
Also sim lock stuff is stored in with the hboot and radio and stuff.

I found a code for $9 at Nck Codes. It wouldn't work with CM7, has to put a stock ROM on the phone to unlock then flash CM7 again.
Hi, I'm new to this forum. How do I unlock my HTC Wildfire S without paying for it?
If I root it, will I able to unlock it? :S
Welcome to xda-developers.
As in most fora, you should start reading existing threads.
In short:
If you have CDMA device, unlocking without a special hardware has been figured out.
If you have a GSM device, unlocking without the so called XTC-Clip is not yet possible, but first approaches have been made to even unlock those devices.
Probably it's just a matter of time.
Third big hope is, that maybe Wildfire S gets supported by HTC to unlock bootloader. But this won't make Wildfire S S-Off after all, it will just let you install custom roms and root your device. Radio and stuff will be still locked.
So please take your time to read around a bit.
So How do I find out of my device is CDMA or GSM?
gms= sim card
cdma= no sim card
Phone: HTC Wildfire S (Virgin Mobile US) A510c
Rom: stock gb 2.3.4 / sense 2.1, rooted (s-off)
Recovery: still playing around
Hboot: 1.06.0000
I would also recommend *NOT* flashing any of the available custom ROMs available to you at this time. In my uneducated opinion, they are GSM roms, incompatible with CDMA phones. So if you do indeed have a CDMA phone (virgin mobile), as I do, don't flash anythin to it. Rooting should be fine.
true that (already bricked a phone installing cm7)
cdma atm only has 1 rom working but it's got several bugz
Take a look at the website of your provider:
http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/networks/network_info/gsm-gprs.html
I guess you have a gsm device.
so not even after htc gave away bootloader unlocking this isn't possible?
Hi guys,
I bought HTC wildfire S... Its a branded Australian version as i see 'NEXT' network logo on phone and box...
It has been unlocked coz i am using a different network in Asia...
Since it doesn't come in warranty, i want to Root it, and start installing custom roms on it..i know much about HTC sensation coz i own that too and have good knowledge of Android stuff...
Can someone tell me what should i do to Root it?
I saw in forums here that unlocking bootloader is via HTCdev and xtc clip...
I don't care about loosing warranty stuff but i want to enable ROOT and flash custom roms and remove the NEXT network animation on boot and remove all bloatwares..
Unlock bootloader and then root the phone. tutorials are in the forums.

Hi community,
I've been looking for a long while before posting this. I didn't find all the answers I needed, that's why I'm posting here.
Thanks for reading in advance.
I bought an HTC Wildfire S, tight with Android 2.1, in France, there's been a long time. But I actually live in Burkina Faso, Africa. The phone was originally sim-card unlocked, cause actually I can use sim cards from phone operators in my country without any problem.
I guess the original phone carrier was SFR, as the original ROM was branded with applications linked to SFR, such as wallpapers, appps, games download, and the whole like.
Actually, I'm running under Android 2.3.5, I did the update using the on-The-Air method (OTA).
Anyway, more recently, I discovered it was possible to do nice things after rooting the phone (such as extend the internal memory using Link2SD, flash a custom rom, etc), thanks to your forums. As I was interested in this, I made some research.
I found that in my case, I needed to root the phone first.
I triedUnlockRoot, plus some other things, and neither worked. Then, I realised that my phone was S-ON, while looking at the bootloader screen.
My HBOOT :
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.08.0000
MICRODP-0451
RADIO-7.54.39.28M
At the back of my phone, under the battery, I have the number PG76100 written.
Then I looked for how to unlock bootloader tutorials. The only method I happened to find was the online process using HTCDev registered there, and tried to start the process (install the android SDK). Then I reached a step where I have to find the RUU corresponding to my phone. I got stucked there, cause, as I mentionned before, the phone was SFR branded. I thought at Vodafone, but corresponding RUUs seemed to be designed for HBOOT 1.08.0099...My current HBOOT is 1.08.0000...I really don't know at this step if it would be safe continuing forward, or if there is some other solutions I missed.
Then I'm asking to those who're more experienced in this.
Thanks again for reading. I'm looking formward helpful answers.
SFR is Vodafone, so you can use that Ruu.

"You can overclock as much as you want, your phone will always seem too slow."
Even taking into account the fact my current hboot is 1.08.0000 ?

Anyone to confirm ?
Anyway, i'll probably try to proceed and post feedbacks about what will occur. Thanks for the answer anyway.

I wonder if anyone can help me with my unlocking issues?
I have an HTC Desire A8181 that is locked to T-Mobile and I now need to use it with 3UK. Every time I insert my 3UK sim, I get a prompt to enter an unlock code, but don’t know what to enter here.
I have tried using an unlock tool which is mentioned elsewhere on the forum, but it unfortunately fails to work for me.
I tried using ‘HTC DESIRE SIM-UNLOCK UTILITY v0.9.5’ but every time, it returns Error 13a: AdbReadEndpointSync returned error 31. Waiting for hboot!……………….
How do I get to unlock my Desire A8181 Bravo? Is there a keygen or something that can provide a code, or am I out of luck? I hope someone out here who is more knowledgeable could help out with this one.
Thanks for reading. Regards, Tony (Brookbond) See photos.
Try downgrading the HBOOT version to one that Revolutionary supports so you can do an S-OFF and change the CID to SuperCID (11111111).
Since everything has been described in various threads and posts, I won't duplicate it.

ze7zez, thanks for the reply, I think I may be out of my depth a little with this phone. I did have HBOOT v0.93.0001 on the phone and I did try several times to use HTC Desire Sim-Unlock Utility v0.9.5 by sieempi, without success.
It found the phone, confirmed the serial number of the phone, rebooted the phone into hboot, then displayed ‘Error 13a: AdbReadEndpointSync returned error 31, Waiting for hboot……………………………
I have little knowledge on the subject really, and I know that little knowledge can be dangerous. I don’t really know where to go with this now, as I had already tried the above sim-unlock utility several times when the phone had HBOOT v0.93.0001 and that failed to work for me.
I was hoping for a keygen to produce an unlock code, but not sure if such a fix exists? Is there anywhere I could find a code to enter into the phone to unlock it?
I am prepared to backtrack and downgrade the hboot version as a last resort. Any suggestions please?
Thanks, brookbond (Tony)
