Goodbye All,
The Dinc2 was my first Android phone, and my first voyage into rooting a phone and getting the most out of it. I have been helped and learned much here in the last 18 months. This has been a great community. Thanks especially to aeroevan, nitsuj17, CondemnedSoul, and knipp21. I saw that Verizon had lowered the price for a refurbished Galaxy Nexus to $229 with no contract and I jumped. I just mailed my precious Dinc2 to a buyer on Swappa this morning.
Thanks again for all the good times!

It does look beautiful, and it's cheaper than I thought it would be, but that price comes at the expense of no 4G radio.
I'm very happy with my fully functioning Jelly Bean GNex

As the thread states my friend just got a Nexus on contract and is using it to pay off his O2 contract as he already has a sim free iPhone 4S.
I can sell my GS2 for around £200-230 so just need to pay the difference to get it up to £300
Played around with it a tiny bit and it looks ok but not really sold on it however I do love the pure google experience (previous nexus one owner)
Good deal or not?
Yeah! Honestly, I got this phone yesterday and you will NOT be disappointed. The screen, the smoothness of ICS, it's just a freaking monster man. And You're only going to be paying around £70-£100 for the phone so you can't go wrong!
Edit: Just read you already own a GS2. I would not be so sure then, it depends on how desperate you are to get ICS, because once that hits the GS2 the only thing that will be to the Nexus' advantage is the screen and dev support, which is more than enough for me to go for the Nexus lol.
Decisions decisions....
Get it! and sell it me small profit for yourself
It's really a beast! Some of my favorite things are the screen, led, and the software buttons they are geinus!
Honestly, if I were you, I would wait until next year Q2 2012 when it is rumoured that quad core phones that are coming out. I'm pretty sure there are already ICS roms for the Galaxy S2 and you're getting it next year anyway from Samsung. However, I haven't had any experience with the Nexus so I can only tell you from what I think, I haven't actually compared the fluidity and smoothness of both phones.
keep your gs2 and wait.for.ice.

Good deal, go for it while you can still get that for your GS2.
I sold my GS2 for the Nexus and haven't looked back. It's just a better overall device and probably one of the coolest gadgets I've owned.

Gotta agree. There are a few users here that I see post the same useless drivel. Makes ya wonder.
Anyway, like I said before, go for it. You won't be disappointed.
Side note: The touch screen buttons have just made other Android devices look antiquated.
I am pretty sure I will if my friend doesn't decide to keep it.
£300 is not a great deal considering a brand new one sells for around £428.79. If you do not like it, you should be able to sell it for more than £300.

nice signature. lol.
It kind of depends. Since you already have a GS2 it's not really an upgrade but a lateral move from one phone to the next. The GN2 will definitely outlive the GS2 as far as official updates and dev support is concerned, but the GS2 already has plenty dev support right now and will likely have it for as long as you own/use the phone. The screen on the GN is way better, the processor is just as good, the GPU and camera on the GS2 are the only real advantages so it pretty much evens out in my book. It really is going to come down to personal preference. The reason I jumped to the nexus line was because I was a Vibrant owner and never saw a froyo update on my phone while Samsung promised and promised. The dev community and custom gone were the only things keeping me happy with my phone. About a week after the Nexus S was released I walked into a Best Buy and put my phone running a custom froyo rom with an overclocked processor up against a bone stock display model and the display model Nexus won every battle. I bought the phone a few days later and haven't looked back since. Now there are a few caveats to the story, one being that I had a variant of the GS and that Samsung had indeed finished the froyo update about two months before the release of the Nexus S (just not for the American variants) but at the end of the day, the Nexus S is going to receive an official update of ICS and the GS isn't despite them having nearly all the same hardware components. The devs are still there and they will give the phone a proper update but it would be easier with an official kernel to play with. Just my thoughts. Personally I'd go with the GN unless you plan on playing multiple high end games that require you to have a better GPU.

The stock google experience is swaying it for me right now and it looks like I will have to pay a minimum of £80 to £100 + selling my GS2.
Will see my mate on Thursday and take it from there and will let everyone know if I suddenly become a GN owner
My wife said no I cannot trade so I said it's an christmas present to myself so may have to sweeten her up a bit haha

Actually its a very very good deal. Its 429 + vat which is more like £520. Also considering its from his friend and not some random stranger he can be pretty sure there's not some weird fault with it or something dodgy. Its pretty close to having a brand new phone with £220 off
Personally for around £100 I would probably upgrade. I agree with other posts its more of a lateral move, but the SGS2 is soooo common now, especially in the UK, and its coming up to a year old soon. The Galaxy Nexus will stay 'new' for a while. Also remember the GN resolution is the native resolution for ICS and what it was designed for. Although other phones with lower resolutions will also get ICS i'm sure there'll be some compromises somewhere.
Anyway its all opinion, but for me i'm slightly for the GN. BTW I upgraded from a N1 to a Galaxy Nexus, and my only experience of a SGS2 is 5 minutes with my friends one at the pub.
Interesting as o2 would let me pay off my remaining 2 months of my contract so i could get the galaxy nexus earlier.
They told me they do not allow this anymore and for that they have lost a customer, they never even tried to do me a deal.
I pay £41 a month for unlimited everything on my new contract which would mean i will pay £984 over the 24 month contract.
Hes going to be well out of pocket once he pays off his contract is o2 let him.
Text my mate to say I am going for the GN so now it's just down to when I go and get some cash for my phone and when I get to see him next.
Good timing as well as he was considering selling it tomorrow!
I bought a galaxy nexus and returned to my s2...
Only the screen is better on this phone and the new os, everything else isnt worth spendig money on it...

It's costing my friend around £200 to pay off O2 and he managed to get the GN for FREE on 12 months at vodafone so he will actually make around £100 from this and will also be on a 12 month agreement not 18-24 months.
On o2 he pays £37-38 a month and Vodafone will be £41 a month so makes sense really for him to sell it and for me to buy it lol

Im wondering if I can buy from this website.
If not, does anyone have one for sale for 500 or less? I want this so bad for my birthday, I'm just 15 but we honestly can't afford it. I have 150 and my dad will pay the rest but he says he doesn't think 600+ is worth it. I found some craigslist postings with it for like 400 or less but none of them are GSM
Thanks.
I would NOT trust it. It doesn't have a web of trust rating and looks shady as hell.
Yeah thats what i thought.
I really REALLY want this phone though. I didn't get anything last christmas, last birthday, this christmas, or this birthday so i told my dad that he owes me. But 650 - 700 is a hell of a lot of money, and I fear I might break it anyway in a year or so. Then the value would be lost. IDK, i just wish craigslist had the GSM version.

I found a GSM GN on Craigslist, brand-new in box, and paid 580. Just have to keep an eye out. The guy bought it for his girlfriend and found out that it was just too big for her small hands, so it was used for like a grand total of twenty minutes.
Considering how I paid about 580 for my previous Nexus S when I bought it from Best Buy... retail price of 549.95 + tax + stupid LCD fee even though it doesn't even HAVE an LCD... $580 was totally cool with me. And the phone is awesome, no screen banding at all, undervolts like a champ and works flawlessly.
NegriElectronics has the Canadian GN for sale for 595.50. If you use the GIFT promotion code it will take 30 dollars off, bringing the total to 565.50. I just ordered one from them last night and it shipped today. This was the cheapest thy I found the phone.

Boo Hoo -- Who says you are "owed anything." Do you have a roof over your head, food on the table and clothes on your back? Maybe you should not be so selfish -- and spend the 150 you do have on something for your father to show some appreciation. Get a job if you don't have one and save for it.
This is the problem with this country -- everyone thinks they are owed things and they have to have it now. If you have to save for it it will mean more and maybe you would treat it with respect and not break it within a year.
OH - and who pays the 30 bucks a month data charge -- and what about the voice plan?

+10000 from someone that works 65 hours a week to support his family. The more I work and the more I make the more I appreciate my dad. Pay out 30 to 35k in taxes per year then you can think someone owes you something lol.

When I was 15 (now 19, full time job, etc) I worked my ass off to get the first iPhone. That thing was $650 because they didn't have subsidies for them yet. Get a job. I don't feel one ounce of sympathy for you. You have all the necessities to live, you should be THANKFUL for that. A Galaxy Nexus, while amazing, is not a necessity. I don't know what you expect to receive from a post like this, someone to give you a Galaxy Nexus? You should have known you'd get bashed for this.

I have to agree. I got my first job when I was 12 and have been working for everything I wanted since then. You say that your family really can't afford to get you this phone so maybe its not a good idea to make your family buy you something that you don't even need if it will have a negative effect on your loved ones.
As for prices. I picked up a seal box galaxy nexus off kijjii for $470. You just have to look around for people selling them personally. You won't find anything for less than $500 in a store.
My advice, get a job.

Hey everyone,
I have been given a gnex for free by a coworker after another coworker dropped it and spilled coffee on it. It wouldnt turn on and the glass is cracked. Beauty of being the "android guy" at work I suppose. After trying a few troubleshooting steps like getting the phone into download mode, i tried a friends gnex battery in it and it booted right up. Its only the glass thats cracked, lcd and digitizer are fine as far as i can tell from using it for several hours. One 8 dollar battery from amazon later i have a functioning free gnex upgrade.
I thought id be able to live with the cracked screen but i think id like to replace it, i like my phones like i like my women.. Do you guys foresee anything substantially better than the gnex coming out in the next few months? Im up for an upgrade in about 6 months from my droid charge (company phone) and then ill have to convince my boss to go for it...or samsung wants 160 to replace the screen, which of course will be coming out of my pocket.
Would you guys put almost an upgrade fee cost into getting a gnex or wait?

Enjoy the free GNex for a few months, then enjoy your free upgrade. Plus, you can sell the Gnex once you get a new phone
Replace the screen...you can sell it for much more, if and when something better comes along and catches your eye.....like the next Nexus!
The GNex is already six months old, and the next one should be out in Oct or Dec
Screen replacement is what...$20-$60? Do it. Save your upgrade for something like the next Nexus.

Unfortunately... no Glass + LCD + Digitizer is all one piece on this phone, i thought the same. It's strange, samsung will fix the screen and pay shipping both ways for 160. The cheapest I can find to buy just the part is almost $200. I would be dumb to not go for the samsung deal.
I think I'm going to call samsung back tomorrow and send it off and then I guess in about two weeks I'll be officially on a gnex Then let the xda way of life begin.

If I was buying today I would absolutely buy the Nexus again based solely off of Dev support.
I think you should fix the screen and enjoy it. $160 seems like a great price to get all of that work done correctly including shipping. Just keep an eye on the phones for the next 6 months, especially the next Nexus line. You could always sell the nexus for some pocket cash if you decide to upgrade.
I would have to agree with the majority. Def fix the screen and enjoy the abundance of awesome dev support.

HAHA! Now I feel dumb
Try buying a second hand nexus for $170. It's basically impossible.
Swypesation
Also, keep in mind you're essentially paying what you would pay for the GNex on contract, without signing a contract. So you're still getting a hell of a deal, even with that screen repair.
So you have a phone that will work for a long while, without having signed a contract, for cheaper than it would have cost to sign a contract. Great deal.

Funny thing, I bought am International Samsung Galaxy Note a little over a month ago. I just placed my order with Google Play for 2 Galaxy Nexus's (Nexii?) One for me and the gf. I'm going to return the Note -- While I liked the beautiful display and device in general, lack of community support (just seems to be in its infancy), lack of a freaking LED notification light (My old phone before the Note was the Nexus One,) and realizing that all the extra features I thought I was getting weren't really necessary at all persuaded me to swap over.
The S-pen, while I do like it, is certainly unnecessary, and after the novelty wore off, I found myself chewing on it more than using it for anything useful. I guess it was nice if I had sweaty hands lol, but as far as taking notes, or doing anything outside of doodling or showing off, it was pointless. I originally thought I could use it as a super accurate way of hitting buttons (say the full screen button on in-browser flash videos), but I found that I couldn't even hit the buttons in a lot of videos because the S-Pen can't reach the very side of the screen.
So while I wouldn't be disappointed if I was keeping the Note, ultimately I decided that I'd be much happier with Jelly Bean and better community support

Hi Galaxy nexus gang,
I'm on the verge of joining your ranks, but I wanted to ask about this phone from the people who have it. I have a chance to buy one for $200 w/car dock. As the story goes, the seller's wife gets a discount with Verizon or whatever, so they are leaving T-Mobile and that is why he is selling the phone.
However, I've been burned...once badly...by Craigslist phone sales. Since pretty much all tech has problems, what would be the biggest Galaxy Nexus issues to look for when I get a chance to play with it before dropping the money. It is not in warranty, but supposedly it works great.
As an example, someone asked a similar question to the Nexus 7 community and I helped by listing the 14 most common issues people seemed to be reporting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1829642
Anyone familiar with the device and it's issues, if you could do the same for me, that would be awesome. I plan to meet tomorrow to buy it and I don't have much time to research it today (taking care of a toddler gives me pretty much her nap time which I'm using to type this. LOL)

You should check everything from the phone before buying it, there's a post around here of someone who buy one and it end being a fake one... Becareful.
Ok the only issue that I found when I buy it was the sound, its a bit low, but you can make it sound louder with some app or even with a custom ROM. That's the only issue I found. Besides that I love it!!! It's just the best phone that I have owned so far :good:
Give the phone a thorough run through before purchasing.
Watch some videos and reviews of the Galaxy Nexus and familiarize yourself with it.
Take note of how the screen is supposed to feel and how the software is supposed to run. Also take not of the user interface. These are all things that a knockoff will have different.
