Offered a 4 day old Nexus for £300 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

As the thread states my friend just got a Nexus on contract and is using it to pay off his O2 contract as he already has a sim free iPhone 4S.
I can sell my GS2 for around £200-230 so just need to pay the difference to get it up to £300
Played around with it a tiny bit and it looks ok but not really sold on it however I do love the pure google experience (previous nexus one owner)
Good deal or not?

Yeah! Honestly, I got this phone yesterday and you will NOT be disappointed. The screen, the smoothness of ICS, it's just a freaking monster man. And You're only going to be paying around £70-£100 for the phone so you can't go wrong!
Edit: Just read you already own a GS2. I would not be so sure then, it depends on how desperate you are to get ICS, because once that hits the GS2 the only thing that will be to the Nexus' advantage is the screen and dev support, which is more than enough for me to go for the Nexus lol.

Decisions decisions....

Get it! and sell it me small profit for yourself

It's really a beast! Some of my favorite things are the screen, led, and the software buttons they are geinus!

Honestly, if I were you, I would wait until next year Q2 2012 when it is rumoured that quad core phones that are coming out. I'm pretty sure there are already ICS roms for the Galaxy S2 and you're getting it next year anyway from Samsung. However, I haven't had any experience with the Nexus so I can only tell you from what I think, I haven't actually compared the fluidity and smoothness of both phones.

keep your gs2 and wait.for.ice.

Good deal, go for it while you can still get that for your GS2.
I sold my GS2 for the Nexus and haven't looked back. It's just a better overall device and probably one of the coolest gadgets I've owned.

Don't listen to this idiot. He's the biggest troll on the Galaxy Nexus forums and only posts useless comments/complaints. You should definetely go for the Nexus - pure Google experience, HD screen, etc

Gotta agree. There are a few users here that I see post the same useless drivel. Makes ya wonder.
Anyway, like I said before, go for it. You won't be disappointed.
Side note: The touch screen buttons have just made other Android devices look antiquated.

I am pretty sure I will if my friend doesn't decide to keep it.

£300 is not a great deal considering a brand new one sells for around £428.79. If you do not like it, you should be able to sell it for more than £300.

nice signature. lol.

It kind of depends. Since you already have a GS2 it's not really an upgrade but a lateral move from one phone to the next. The GN2 will definitely outlive the GS2 as far as official updates and dev support is concerned, but the GS2 already has plenty dev support right now and will likely have it for as long as you own/use the phone. The screen on the GN is way better, the processor is just as good, the GPU and camera on the GS2 are the only real advantages so it pretty much evens out in my book. It really is going to come down to personal preference. The reason I jumped to the nexus line was because I was a Vibrant owner and never saw a froyo update on my phone while Samsung promised and promised. The dev community and custom gone were the only things keeping me happy with my phone. About a week after the Nexus S was released I walked into a Best Buy and put my phone running a custom froyo rom with an overclocked processor up against a bone stock display model and the display model Nexus won every battle. I bought the phone a few days later and haven't looked back since. Now there are a few caveats to the story, one being that I had a variant of the GS and that Samsung had indeed finished the froyo update about two months before the release of the Nexus S (just not for the American variants) but at the end of the day, the Nexus S is going to receive an official update of ICS and the GS isn't despite them having nearly all the same hardware components. The devs are still there and they will give the phone a proper update but it would be easier with an official kernel to play with. Just my thoughts. Personally I'd go with the GN unless you plan on playing multiple high end games that require you to have a better GPU.

The stock google experience is swaying it for me right now and it looks like I will have to pay a minimum of £80 to £100 + selling my GS2.
Will see my mate on Thursday and take it from there and will let everyone know if I suddenly become a GN owner
My wife said no I cannot trade so I said it's an christmas present to myself so may have to sweeten her up a bit haha

Actually its a very very good deal. Its 429 + vat which is more like £520. Also considering its from his friend and not some random stranger he can be pretty sure there's not some weird fault with it or something dodgy. Its pretty close to having a brand new phone with £220 off
Personally for around £100 I would probably upgrade. I agree with other posts its more of a lateral move, but the SGS2 is soooo common now, especially in the UK, and its coming up to a year old soon. The Galaxy Nexus will stay 'new' for a while. Also remember the GN resolution is the native resolution for ICS and what it was designed for. Although other phones with lower resolutions will also get ICS i'm sure there'll be some compromises somewhere.
Anyway its all opinion, but for me i'm slightly for the GN. BTW I upgraded from a N1 to a Galaxy Nexus, and my only experience of a SGS2 is 5 minutes with my friends one at the pub.

Interesting as o2 would let me pay off my remaining 2 months of my contract so i could get the galaxy nexus earlier.
They told me they do not allow this anymore and for that they have lost a customer, they never even tried to do me a deal.
I pay £41 a month for unlimited everything on my new contract which would mean i will pay £984 over the 24 month contract.
Hes going to be well out of pocket once he pays off his contract is o2 let him.

Text my mate to say I am going for the GN so now it's just down to when I go and get some cash for my phone and when I get to see him next.
Good timing as well as he was considering selling it tomorrow!

I bought a galaxy nexus and returned to my s2...
Only the screen is better on this phone and the new os, everything else isnt worth spendig money on it...

It's costing my friend around £200 to pay off O2 and he managed to get the GN for FREE on 12 months at vodafone so he will actually make around £100 from this and will also be on a 12 month agreement not 18-24 months.
On o2 he pays £37-38 a month and Vodafone will be £41 a month so makes sense really for him to sell it and for me to buy it lol

Thinking selling my gs2 and moving to this forum

Hey guys! Currently I'm on tmobile with the gs2. I've always had a nexus device until verizon stole it Lol. I loved always having up to date software, which is not the case with the gs2. I'm also sick of the sg2 xda forum.. Too much ******ry going on there.
Do you guys think it's worth getting? After selling the gs2 ill only be paying around 100 more. Amazon is selling for 500.
Before the nexus i have a gs2 i like the nexus better people's here saying that they have reboots problems with the phone but i never have a single problem with it i love it also coming from a 4s two

I think so dude. I moved here from the i9100. I haven't looked back. AOSP ICS is simply amazing! There are small hardware gripes I have with the nexus compared to the i9100, but I moved to the neuxs more for the ICS and updates. Plus I have the Verizon LTE version and the speeds are pretty sweet, minus the battery drain. Oh and that Amoled HD display is so damn sexy.
I'm going to be making the switch too. I wouldn't be losing any money making the switch, make a good enough profit buying and selling things here and there.
lol, it is impressive how every 2-3 days we have someone posting the exactly same thread here

Thanks for the response. I'm gonna miss the camera but I think I really want a gn.
wait until a better phone then the nexus. Going from galaxy s2 to the nexus is not really a big step up. I would wait for the galaxy s3 or if you need a phone really soon I would get the HTC one. The nexus isn't so much better then the galaxy s2 and some might even say the galaxy s2 is a better because of hardware.
gl
unless you actually switch your phones alot....i'd say stay with the i9100 until galaxy SIII
I'm only switching cuz I feel like it and I got the nexus really cheap (in my eyes) and I can sell my i9100 for almost just as much since I have a white one and a good amount of accessories.
Plus I sell laptops and other phones and stuff making good profit like that.

I'm not going to buy another non nexus phone. If I remember correctly the nexus was launched in nov-dec. The next nexus will be released around the same time I assume. This will be the time my upgrade will be available so hopefully the new nexus phone will come to tmo and ill use it to get that.
If not I'll use it on the gs3 sell it and buy the International nexus
I'm ready to pull the trigger. Does anyone know where to get one cheaper than amazon?

Negri electronics, NTT DOCOMO version unlocked. Exactly the same except it was originally Docomo locked and has docomo branding on the backplate. $460 and you get warranty unlike amazon. Negri and Expansys assist. It's on backorder right now so I would just go with Amazon. I ordered mine sunday from Negri and it will arrive Monday according to Fedex because they ship from Nevada. There are some concerns with IMEI though because of the way they unlocked it but not a big deal for me on AT&T. I'm just going to save the original IMEI files etc...as backup

Wow, I'm somehow not surprised man. Everyone was itching for ICS since every day that one guy kept posting articles about CM9 and ICS. It was bound to explode once ICS was released.
I didn't want to be a part of that immaturity and left reluctantly. I say reluctantly because the phone itself was beastly, I had the white one and it was probably one of the best designs minus this phone I've owned so far.
Stop making threads about it and just do it.
I'm thinking about shooting myself but I took an arrow to the knee. Somebody should start a website "thinking about selling x so I can get x". Then whoever takes me up in the best idea eva can start a thread called I'm thinking about selling my website so I can buy Facebook.

i came from an htc sensation which is think is very similar to the gs2:
- both considered flagship phones (dual core, 4.3-4.5")
- both have microSD slot over the gnex
- both have better camera than gnex
the biggest thing for me was that most of the sensation roms were Sense based (even on XDA) and i wanted pure AOSP. im not sure how it is on the GS2 but i am assuming the same (ie most of the roms for the GS2 are probably touchwiz based). if you want pure AOSP, nothing beat the nexus

Naw...galaxy phones have huge dev community. We have a lot based on Samsung firmware but also a ton based on aosp. Cm9 was one of the first to go nightlies and be every day usable for a while now. A lot of aokp and aosp based roms also or a decent amount at least.

Galaxy Nexus in August....

Hey guys,
My contract ends at the end of July. I've already been looking at what device to upgrade to.
I'm seriously considering the Gnex. I won't be able to afford a high-end device like One X or the Galaxy SIII, so I was kinda settling on this, or possibly the One S if it drops in price.
I'm a HTC Sense fanboy, but recently I have began to get annoyed with the way Android works. I'm frustrated that it takes OEMs ages to push out OS updates to their handsets. (E.g, my phone is getting ICS around May/June, by then Jellybean would be announced, making ICS 'old')
So basically I'm think of going the pure Google way.
My simple questions.
1) will the device still be worth it by August?
2) how futureproofed is it? Will it get official upgrades beyond Jellybean?
3) how much can I expect the rough price to be of a Gnex by Summer? (Sim-free)
4) when will Google announce the succesor? (At the jellybean event or around October?)
Thanks for the assistance
EDIT: sorry, this should have gone to the Q&A...! Sorry guys, hope you can still help!

depends on what you consider "worth it". Yes, it will still be just as good of a phone in August (I'll no doubt still be using mine). And especially if you're cost-constrained.

I'd be surprised if we see the next version officially after JB. But we'll see what direction Android goes in. That's a long time in the future.

Again, who knows? Its already in the mid $500's, dipping to mid $400's on deal sites. I expect it to be in the low $400's (if you're talking brand-new SIM free units) if I had to guess. But no one knows. That's at least 4 months from now.
For comparison, look at the GSM Nexus S, which still sells for just shy of $300 unlocked right now coming up on 1.5yrs old.

They announce a Nexus with each launch of Android. Probably again in October/November 2012. We may hear about JB earlier than that, but they launch the Nexus to actually release the new OS version.

Well I know several carriers/retailers in the US are now offering the Nexus free with new 2-year contract, so if you find the same type of deal in the UK then I would say it is definitely worth it.
Edit: Should have read your OP closer. Looks like the sim free Nexus off contract is still around $500 in the UK.

The galaxy nexus is still worth it, and imo the best smartphone you can buy. Although if you can wait 3 months maybe, the next nexus should be releasing November/December and it might be better to use your contract on that phone instead of the $350 current nexus.
Cheers guys! Been leaning towards this as well. The phone is on a 2 year contract, so my worry is, after 2 years, will the phone still get Google support? I mean, how much more can android advance now?
What else are they going to add, which will require more powerful hardware?
The next nexus is likely to be based on The S3, and there doesn't seem to be a huge change In performance.
Hmmm..

If your other choice is the One S, I'd still go for the Gnex. You can be sure that it will be supported longer than the One S.

Well with the Nexus being a 'pure' Google phone I would think it will be supported longer than other devices but the thing to keep in mind is this has been out for 9 months already, so I wouldn't expect much in the official update department come a year or year and a half from now.
To this day there is still no phone available that I would take over my Galaxy Nexus.

Bingo! :good:
First things first
1. Its surely worth it to buy a GN. I played with my friends SIII and it sucks. It looks like a ugly white big egg. My GN performs a lot better than his SIII
2. We will get future android support yes. Imagine that the nexus s has official jellybean support.
3. I bought mine for only $403. Do you know sweet that is for such a beauty of a smartphone
Once you buy a nexus phone you will never go to a non nexus phone again... ( who agrees with me)
Andddd you will get the best custom roms and kernels, because we have the best developers. Also a GREAT community.
But see for yourself

+1000!
I just came off a 2-year Verizon contract with my Droid X, and purchased a Play Store GNex GSM (unlocked) version for $376 or so (with taxes and shipping). I am using a $30/mo. T-Mobile Monthly 4G prepaid plan (100 minutes, unlimited data and texts) SIM card with this phone, but T-Mobile is not in my area, so I mostly roam on AT&T, which is the only local GSM provider (and with whom T-Mobile have a roaming agreement). Read the thread $30/mo. phone plan thread, and learn how you can easily live within the parameters of the TMO plan that I describe. There are lots of folks available to help you with VoIP issues/setup.
I must say that my Droid X was a real workhorse for me, with a very high quality build. Despite the locked bootloader, I ran over 15 different ROMs on it, from Froyo and up to and including multiple Ice Cream Sandwich roms. My wife also had the Droid X, but is very tough on her phones, and burned through 3 of them in 2 years. The GNex is definitely not built as solid as the Droid X, but I baby my electronics and think the GNex will suit me wonderfully. However, my wife just got the SGSIII 2 days ago, and I seriously doubt that it will last 6 months. Talk about a plastic phone! Though the hardware is better, our modded GNex devices will run much better than an unmodded SGSIII. Take the plunge, I don't think you'll regret it!
I won't be able to afford a high-end device like One X or the Galaxy SIII, so I was kinda settling on this

Word of advice -- never use that phrasing when talking talking about your GF/Wife...
I will only ever buy a Google supported phone -- the best hardware in the world is not worth it - if its not supported. Look at how quickly companies turn their back on a device once they have a new model that has as its main selling point the latest version of android.
They are in the business of selling phones, not making geeks happy. And the carriers are in business of milking their customers like a bunch of cows -- so its not their interest either. Folks give google a hard time, but hey -- they are the only company out there that is not trying to screw me while bragging about how awesome they are..
As much as I love my Nexus we are getting VERY close to Q4 and the next Nexus could be coming by November. If you can, stick it out and get that.

Its not worth it to start a 2 year contract with right now. If I were you, I would buy the Gnex from google for $350. And then, sign up for a 2 year deal for an s3. Then promptly sell the unopened s3 for a profit.

Based on all the rave reviews I am seeing on here about everyone loving their GNex; what from a hardware perspective could make it worth waiting for the next Nexus?
I mean obviously there are some things that the GNex is missing that would be nice, HDMI and micro SD are two things that come to mind. It sounds like the GNex has an amazing display and is the ideal size (even though it is pentile), so I suppose there is potential for a slight improvement in that department. I am assuming they would throw a quad core in the next one, but from what I have read, performance is not really an issue with the GNex. I'm just not sure that it would really be worth the wait as I don't think the next one is going to be nearly as big of an upgrade that it was going from the single core smartphones that many of us had before to the GNex.
Another way I look at these types of things is the sooner you upgrade after your contract expires the better b/c then you get the next upgrade that much sooner.

My GF has the Galaxy Nexus, I have HTC. We both went to an outdoor event where it was really dust, the grounds were dirt.
She used her phone all day, I used mine a few times.
By the end of the day, my HTC had dust UNDERNEATH the glass screen! However, her's had no such problems.
My brother says that the high end Samsungs are sealed air-tight.
My next phone will be either the Galaxy S 4 or next gen Nexus. No more HTC for me.
Just get a GN from Play Store for 350$. Next year you will get a great deal on the new GN model, if you want it. I personally don't like to have contracts so I'm sticking with phones purchased directly from Google.

Is the Galaxy Nexus still worth buying?

I need a new phone and I would like it to be Nexus. Should I go ahead and buy the Galaxy Nexus on Google Play or should I wait for the next Nexus? Oh, and price is also a priority, does anyone think the next nexus will be more expensive?
are new phones always more expensive than old ones?

I would have to say yes.
Given that the Nexus S received Jelly Bean, the Galaxy Nexus is a great phone to get for the long run. It'll probably get Key Lime Pie (and a release or two beyond). Pretty nice performance. Plus, stock Android (the way it was meant to be) is surprisingly full-featured and maturing. (And I'm still stuck on ICS.)
U jus go for nexus ... This phone is amazing...

If you're buying off contract you might as well but the nexus now and you can sell it later and upgrade to the next one.

Like mentioned above, if you are buying off contract then why not? This is still an amazing phone and will continue to be an amazing phone even after the next iteration comes out.

Gnex still a beast
The gnex is defiantly worth the purchase, The price is sweet and the phone itself is well made and is fast as all hell with JB. I say pull the trigger and get the Gnex.

I think you will have a hard time selling the current nexus in another 6 months time considering people only want to buy newer phones unless you virtually sell it for nothing, only iPhones seem to hold their value over longer times because their more popular , older android phones don't sell very well.

Well if any Android phone could hold value, it'd be a Nexus.

Nexus S, maybe but not the Galaxy Nexus. LOL
I just got mine the other day for $300. I wish I got the GS3 instead, but I dont keep phones long so there was no point in dropping $200 more.
Long as the development is still rolling, its never too late for a phone.
How do people figure the S is worth more?

Just had a discussion about this with some friends. One of them was asking if it was worth it buying the Galaxy Nexus.
Before I could answer and tell him that I at first was concerned (specs weren't anything amazing even when it was released, lack of SD card slot), another buddy who had gotten the HTC One X put it simply: "Get the Nexus! Best value you can get for $350..."
And he's right. It's at half the price it was when it first launched, and has been, and will continue, getting updates from Google. And it's practically the easiest phone to unlock, root, & flash, even if you don't like pure, stock Android. You can't go wrong.

It's not about which phone has the greater resale value. It's about which phone has a lower cost of ownership.
Buy a GNex for $350 and sell for $150 a year from now. Cost of ownership is $200.
Buy an iPhone 4S for $650 and sell for $350 a year from now. Cost of ownership is $300.
And I'm being very conservative with my numbers. The difference is probably greater.

This. Not to mention I sold a year old g2x for 200 and they were junk. I'm convinced by this time next year it'll still be an easy sale to get at least $200 probably $250 out of a good shape GSM Gnex.
But resale wasn't the question, yes, its actually the only phone worth buying off contract if your wanting brand new.

I am personally very happy with my Gnex and I do not plan to change it, except for the next Nexus. But I am not in a hurry to do so. It has a great battery life and is butter smooth. I also can play any 3D game.
- the screen could be better but I got used to
- the camera is bad at some light conditions
- the screen isn't scratch resistant (need a screen protection: XO skins screen protector made me happy)
- 13Gb of free storage isn't enought
And well that is all and it is non blocker for me. With the price drop in the US it definitely worth buying it if you "need" a new phone. If you don't, wait the next Nexus at the end of the year.

S3 now or waiting for S4?

I am up for a new phone with my provider.
So I am wondering should I get the S3 now or should I wait for the next phone from Samsung.
I read abotu rumors that the S4 might be pulled up to go on sale with the iPhone 5.
Though based on track recrod I doubt to see a S3 successor prior to July 2013 (if not later).
Currently I have a Samsung Infuse (AT&T) and I am quite happy with it.
What are your thoughts?
No way will an S4 be released along side the iPhone 5. It's still a ways off I'm sure. Just get the S3, you won't regret it.

You should always upgrade ASAP when on a subsidized carrier like AT&T. Every month you delay is money down the drain because your current phone is "paid off", yet they don't reduce your monthly bill to reflect that.
Upgrade to the S3, and either sell your old one on ebay, or keep it as a backup.
Had the S2 and kicked the idea around for a bit. Man I'm so glad I went and bought the S3 out right. Sold the S2 on amazon and haven't regretted it once. If the S4 somehow resurrects the lord Jesus Christ back onto earth I'll snag it as well. I'm not really sure what the game plan for Samsung is next year.

Exactly, I had a skyrocket which is not much different from the S3. But I upgraded to the S3 and man what a difference it is in terms of software. Lots of great new things that I couldnt get even with the S3 roms on the skyrocket. Really good decision for me. And just like the other user said, you should get the S3 since your bill doesnt reduce. The S3 had all the features that I wanted in the skyrocket. HD screen and LED notification light. But I just had to get the skyrocket I couldnt stand my iphone anymore.
If you wait for the next greatest and latest thing you'll always end up waiting. When the s4 comes out you can always sell your s3 for some descent change and come within $300 of buying the s4 with no contract more than likely.

That's what I did with my s2, sold it on ebay for 330 after I unlocked it, and bought a brand new s3 for 475. In the end bought an s3 for $145 off contract. I'm up for renewal next March, so the s4 should be right around the corner then.

Get the S3, sell it for the S4. It's the disposable cycle we're all locked into. The phone is honestly freakin sweet though.

Not exactly true, if you are the first line on the account, your upgrades come earlier. For example, I am the first line in our account and get a yearly upgrade because of it. I get the 2-year price for a 1-year contract.
The phone is a great one. Top of the line specs, great size, and thinness make it so much better to hold. My only problem with the phone is the heating and that stupid home button.
Once you get past that though, it's really great!

I went from the Infuse to a S3, its a night and day difference... Put JB on it and its even faster.. Well worth the upgrade.
s3 since day one, will upgrade to iphone september, will get the new nexus device december and s4 april or when ever its released therefore keeping 3 updates a year!
I would get the SIII. The phone is sick and so fast when running JB. It is the best phone ever IMO. You would not regret getting this phone.
I thought I would hate the home button too. After a month with it, however, I really like it. I now wish my tablet had a home button!

Xda members are so savvy! I love all the talk about selling your old phone and paying the difference for the new one. It usually works out to paying less than the $199 new contract price. And when you're actually up for renewal, you actually make money selling the old phone since you dont have to pay full price and the new one is only $199! I've been doing this for years. I never keep a phone too long because its not worth much later. So definitely get the s3, then if you want the iPhone 5 or note 2 or whatever, sell the s3 and buy your next gadget. Waiting two years is for suckers!!!

I'm sooo sick of these kind of posts. The phone has barley a couple months old and people are already asking if I should wait for the next model. Who knows maybe the S4 will have 8 cores and be the best phone ever, but in the end it's your choice what phone you buy.

@OP: I understand your dilemma, but I think we don't even have any news/leaks about S4..so you should just get S3. As many people said "you won't regret it"
The only dilemma I see is the new snapdragon s4 pro quad with adreno 320 probably hitting in a few months. Either way I'm loving my s3.

[Q] What will happen to Galaxy Nexus when new phone(s) come out?

I'm in the market for a new phone and was thinking about the Galaxy Nexus right from Google.
What do you guys think will happen to it in the next couple weeks when the new Nexus phone(s) is released? Will the Galaxy drop in price? Or will it disappear from the site? I'm hoping it drops in price.

Obviously for some time will remain on the market, at a price much low compared to a few months ago
I'm thinking it'll probably stay on at $300 or so if that Nexus 4, if the rumors are true, is even offered on the Play store off contract. I purchased my Gnex early August and couldn't be happier.
same thing that happens on every device, price will drop like crazy. Let's face it, most of the people here will probably get the new Nexus device. This one will get old, outdated, and eventually will be "left out". Still this phone is one of the best phones that i have used. A good balance between performance, hardware and most importantly the budget.

why would it get old and outdated? phones on the nexus line receive updates for a while..at 1.2 dual core and 1 gb ram it should be ok for quite a while
i get that people will always buy the latest and greatest (i'm also looking to get the nexus 4 when it drops) but the great thing about the nexus is that we get a pure experience AND updates..you can't future proof your phone any better than by purchasing a nexus
----end advertisement----
The price will definitely drop but this is still a great phone that is plenty fast and will continue to have support from developers.
Delayed Gratification Will It Pay Off
For months and months I've been itching to get an android phone. Late last year I came across Republic Wireless offering a $19/mo plan for everything on its Beta program of Wifi utilization and Sprint's cellular service. Recently I was invited to purchase the Motorola Defy and sign up. Republic ran into a problem with the Defy only being a single band phone and is now testing the dual band Defy. At $249 it seems overpriced for a device that's fast becoming outdated. That sent me searching again and led me to the Galaxy Nexus and prepaid. Seemingly no one has a bad thing to say about the gnexus. So I've been itching to buy and go with T Mobile or Straight Talk here in Madison WI.
But I'm cheap and love a bargain. I want the Gnexus. I can pick one up today for $340 from swappa with lots of extras. On the other hand Google could reduce the price on the brand new tomorrow (before Sandy screwed that up). What to do? Shall I sit still or jump in today?
I would think it would be the perfect time to buy a Galaxy Nexus. As soon as the Nexus 4 comes out, the price will drop.
From the leaks I've read, they don't seem THAT much different, especially since the galaxy will most likely get Android 4.2.
Gnex is pretty decent performer and will be a good option for budget conscious buyers in the coming few months. I expect the prices to reach around $300 very soon.

It's no longer available at the Play Store.
I really hope it drops in price....seeing the Nexus 4 at the EXACT same price as the Galaxy Nexus was until yesterday though kinda makes you jealous...on the one hand..I have the urge to put it for sale on Ebay to get money for the Nexus 4 but on the other hand, the Galaxy Nexus already has so much development for it (PGM, awesome kernels like Franco etc, Firefox OS) that you would have to (temporarily) give that all up until devs get their hands on the new device and port it all over to the new Nexus 4.
