Gallery app keeps scrolling back to top - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When viewing my photos in "album" view, I try scrolling down to see more albums but in about half a second the screen scrolls back up to the top.. I've tried deleting cache/data but nothing helps. Any ideas?
Edit: also happens in other modes

Since nobody seems to know how to fix this I'll post the solution I found:
When opening the gallery app, it looks like AllShare is scanning for media around the phone, I discovered this when looking at my battery stats and seeing a lot of activity from the allshare service, and I knew it was coming from the network since when setting the view option to "phone content only" everything was fine. After stopping the app the auto-scroll goes away for a while but comes back later.
My solution was to freeze the allshare service using TB (needs root), now the gallery app works perfectly and is much faster! Hope I helped someone with a similar problem

Found another solution. You dont need to freeze via TB. Just remove autorization for the Note 2 within the allshare app. For me it works. Gallery is scrolling now like charm..

I only noticed it doing it on mine when dropbox was syncing alot of photos, each time the gallery detected a change it would scroll to the top.

Auto-scrolling to the top
Thanks Gabster.
I was pulling my hair out! My Samsung galaxy s3 was autoscrolling to the top whenever I looked at anything that required scrolling down such as the internet, mail, gallary etc. After half a second it zooms back up to the top of the page which is highly annoying when your trying to read stuff. Disabling the allshare apps (there was three on mt s3) worked and I no longer get the annoying auto scroll!!!! Thank you!!!! Instructions for any S3 users:
1. Click on your settings app
2. Click on 'Application's Manager'
3. Scroll right so you can see 'all' your apps
4. Click on all of your 'Allshare' apps one by one and hit force stop & disable
5. Enjoy no more auto-scrolling to the top

Mine does it all the time when I'm scrolling one handed through contacts and when I'm about to click someone it will go to the top.

ICS 4.0 & All the Little Things! [undocumented features]

Just wondering for those of you who have the device already, have you guys found some neat features/tricks using 4.0 that haven't been documented or heavily advertised?
I would love to make a list of these features for other users to explore...
Lets get this started
List:
Reserved........
I know it's documented, but it was still a surprise to me - you can now finally delete apps straight from the app drawer, by dragging them just as if you were going to place them on the desktop, but then putting them in the recycle bin on the top.
No affiliation with apple. Or siri.
Sent from my samsung gt i9250 which is in the wrong country.
Nobody's talking about the search app. It's way better than the one in Gingerbread. Much easier to find stuff in your phone : music, app, sms, docs, etc. The old one was returning web search suggestion in 90% of the result... useless.
Search in browser let's you edit suggestion if you want to add something to it. But we lost popular web site suggestion
Just read it on Pocketnow but you can make folders in the favourites bar. Apologies if obvious.
When in the stock browser and you change orientation, tap the screen to make it rotate.

which runs TouchWiz, so it's not stock Android
Rotate the phone to the right whilst in any stock app (so the speaker grill and front camera are on the right). Notice that the back, home and task switch buttons have moved to the top of the screen so that they stay on the right.
When using an ics app hold down on an icon in the action bar to get a description of what it does

Not heavily advertised, but it should be:
The quick control in the browser. Almost the same as on honeycomb. Activate it in the labs settings of the browser. Love it!

NICE find! Thanks!
This is known about, however you said undocumented and I haven't a single document for the Nexus/ICS apart from on one which came with the phone, telling me how to fix the battery.
Hold the volume down and power key, and you take a screen capture. Which is very handy on occasions

If you tap the volume button which makes the volume bar appear, you can then press the icon to the left of the volume bar and it toggles between ring and vibrate.

In settings/about phone. Tap repeatedly on the android version number (4.0...) then a little android appears. Keep ur finger on it and it grows into a screen animation.
If u didn't know about this,I guess u r now thinking this is a joke. Or is it?
Need someone to test; try swiping the web pages up/down using 2 fingers
, is it a feature or a glitch?

Camera in 4.2

Hi all.
I have some questions regarding the new camera app in 4.2.
Why is there a difference between the camera I open from the lock screen widget and the actual camera out of the menu? For example when I take a picture with the widget camera, swipe to the left so have a look at the picture, I can only "delete" it. There are not the regular options like "share" or anything. I first have to go back, unlock, open gallery, find picture and then "share". Why is this??
Also, when I take a picture and afterwards have a look at it in the gallery, it actually captured more of the thing I wanted to take a picture of (I think about 10% at top, bottom, left, right). Has anybody else this issue?
And of course, the very frustrating lag when turning the device from landscape into portrait or vice versa, but like I read in other topics this is everybody's issue.
Thanks all!

That is for security reasons. Otherwise anybody who gets a hold of your phone could share your pictures anywhere he wants. If you disable your unlocking option (or set it to "move finger") you'll get the full menu including the icons for sharing.

This was most likely the reason.
But, correct me if I'm wrong, the camera can only be accessed via the 'Slide' screen lock, which isn't secure at all.

Yeah you're wrong. There is a huge camera icon sitting on the first page of the menu. I don't think anyone will miss that.
Why have the real time face effects in video recording been removed?

There is one in 4.2
Just not for the Gnex

The camera actually take more than what we view on screen. That's annoying when I take a close up picture, it become farther view than what we seen on screen

you can also acces the camera using a lock pin. i didn't try with other security means (pattern, faceunlck, etc..) but i guess it's the same thing. personally, i like this feature a lot.

Can't change my lock screen

Title says it all. Cannot change my lock screen to anything but one of the stock wallpapers (there are maybe five of those...the dandelion, the water, the leaf with water droplets, etc.). I cannot change it to any other image in my phone.
I've tried clearing the Gallery cache and data as suggested in the Note 2 forum where someone else was having this problem. Doesn't work. It's not a big enough deal for me to go flashing roms or anything just to fix it, but I'd like to be able to change this!
I was having same issue... I'm using Quickpic as my gallery.
I had to clear settings to allow me to use the stock gallery to select the wallpaper and edit it.
You didn't mention if you were using stock gallery or not.
Then set Quickpic as default again and no issues.

If you're using the note 2 gallery you have to select the photo you want from the gallery and choose the option of "set picture as" otherwise it will force close.
just confirmed that will work!

Gallery issues stock gallery app

Does anyone have issues with the stock gallery app? If I am looking at the picture and try and hit the share button, the menu doesn't appear. It looks like it is supposed to a d flashes, but nothing actually shows up. I am having a lot of issues with it but I like it because it shows of the Zoe's. Any help would be appreciated.

Same thing happens here. Instead of clicking share while on the full screen pic, long click on the thumbnail and select share.
Yea I figured that one out, so is there something wrong with the app itself? Also does that mean you cannot share multiple photos without using a different app? That sucks.

Either with the app or the framework. You can still share multipul photos by hitting the share icon at the top right of the page that shows all the different thumbnails.

Disable annoying Gallery music/slide show???

Hi all, I want to disable that annoying music and slide show that starts every time I open an album in the Gallery app. I can't for the life of me see where to disable that; any ideas?

You can disable the one in the main part of the gallery, hit the 3 dots on the top left and you can show/hide which images/folders you want.

Hi, thanks, but that's not where I am talking about. If you hit the Gallery icon on the desktop, then tap the "All Photos" row, at the top of the All Photos screen there is a preview movie that scrolls through all your images with music that auto plays after about 3 seconds.

Yea don't think there's as way to remove that one. Don't really see the point of it either, I mute the music to at least stop that part. The only other solution I can think of is to use another gallery app like quick pic.
I think it's really obnoxious and useless and it got me in trouble when it blasted that awful music in a really quiet environment when I was trying to show someone some pics. It's such a bad feature in fact that I am considering selling the phone for one that gives its user more control over system functions like that.
Thanks for your help though, appreciate it.
Just use Quick Pic. Very close to stock aosp gallery.
Selling the phone over an app seems fairly extreme. ?

Also, Root the phone and you'll be in control of everything. ?
That's how much it annoys me
I don't use it. I use Quick Pic. But yeah, I don't like the stock gallery either.
Just deselect the content

Same like me quick pic the best better than stock gallery
With Android 6, there is now a way, at last:
Settings -> Apps -> Zoe Video Editor -> Disable.
Reload your gallery.
Goodbye crapware!
