Title says it all. Cannot change my lock screen to anything but one of the stock wallpapers (there are maybe five of those...the dandelion, the water, the leaf with water droplets, etc.). I cannot change it to any other image in my phone.
I've tried clearing the Gallery cache and data as suggested in the Note 2 forum where someone else was having this problem. Doesn't work. It's not a big enough deal for me to go flashing roms or anything just to fix it, but I'd like to be able to change this!
I was having same issue... I'm using Quickpic as my gallery.
I had to clear settings to allow me to use the stock gallery to select the wallpaper and edit it.
You didn't mention if you were using stock gallery or not.
Then set Quickpic as default again and no issues.

If you're using the note 2 gallery you have to select the photo you want from the gallery and choose the option of "set picture as" otherwise it will force close.
just confirmed that will work!

I recently had to reload my synergy godmode Rom due to an issue with freedom kernel locking it up. Anyway, I had a wallpaper that I cropped and was using before and after the reinstall of the Rom with no issues. Today I installed msl reader and reported. When I did my wallpaper was blown way out. I went to re crop it and the crop box seems stuck in a wide box instead of the taller narrow box ,as it always before. I've uninstalled the msl reader, wiped cache and daulk-cache and still I get the same issue when I try to crop any image from my gallery. The default HTC wallpaper work fine. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

That is strange. How are selected the wallpaper? Are you selecting the image using the personalize menu -> wallpaper, using the gallery -> open image -> menu button -> Set as, or using an external file manager app.
When I am in the gallery viewing a photo, if I select menu button -> set as, I have two options "Set as Wallpaper" and "Wallpaper". For me I have to select the second option "Wallpaper". I have issues when using "Set as Wallpaper", maybe this is what you are experiencing.
I'm going through the personalize menu and going into my gallery to select the image. Once there it brings up the crop option and the box holds a square shape instead of the rectangular shape it used to.

Are you able to set it? I get an error using the "Set as Wallpaper" option.
It still asks me to crop. If I goto the pic and choose to crop I can crop it to any shape/size, but then when I try to add the new image it still gives me the same crop option. It's like its stuck in landscape mode

So I'm having "Wallpaper" issues.
I select the image from my gallary and I have the option to either
a) make it span multiple windows/frames or
b) I can select the portrait image and its stays the same on screens (or its supposed to).
When I select option "b" it also ask if I want to make that my lockscreen image too and I say yes.
When I go back to my home screen the wallpaper is enlarged/zoomed in and I can't get it to set correctly. However my lockscreen wallpaper looks perfect like its supposed to. Am I doing something wrong? How can I fix this?
Edit
After some more playing around im finding its launcherpro causing the issue. Funny though when i use that on my sensation it doesn't have that problem. Any suggestions?
Had a similar issue. Search the market for an app called dodol, it's pretty easy to figure out from there.

Look for wallpaper wizardrii in the market. It solved a few wallpaper issues for me.
I know this has been asked before, but nobody helped me on the other related threads. I'm not going to have a computer this weekend for a while that's why I need help now. It'd be gratefully appreciated. I deleted the stock gallery app, and now I cant change my lock screen wallpaper. Where could I download the stock version of 3d gallery? I downloaded a random one, and I think I that was another mistake because when I try to change my lock screen wallpaper through setting > display > lock screen wallpaper > choose from gallery, a message appears that reads unfortunately settings has stopped. I'm not sure if I'm suppose to get a certain version of the app to make it work. How do I fix this? I'm running ICS 4.0.4.

You need the stock gallery app....
I'm having trouble adding images from my computer to the gallery on my OG. Is there a specific place I need to put them in order to view them and set them as my Lockscreen Wallpaper? I've tried moving them around on the internal storage but have had no luck. Do I need to put them in the system files or what?
Are they already on your device? If so, can you view them via the gallery? If so, open the image you want, then hit menu, set as, then lock screen.

In addition to the above, for organizational purposes, in the internal storage, find the pictures folder. Inside there, create a folder named Lockscreen. Place images in there. This is not necessary, but may help in locating the files more easily.

No, they are on my computer that I edited on "Gimp". I don't know what file to put them in so that they will be recognized in the "Gallery".

I know how to set the wallpaper I just don't know what file to put them in and in what format that would be best so that my phone will recognize it as a Gallery image.

I've placed the images in a number of folders from my computer to my OG and nowhere will it recognize the images as a gallery image when I try to access them from the "Lockscreen" menu. All my images are in JPEG format.

After updating to JB, my lockscreen image is stuck too. I can only change to a wallpaper gallery image. I cannot change to any other gallery images: regardless of which image I choose or what folder it is in, it will not change unless it is a wallpaper gallery image. I select a new image, set it to lockscreen image, and the old image remains.
This is a bug.
After researching, it looks like factory loaded lock screen wallpapers are incorporated into the .apk for the lock screen. That's weird that you are having problems getting custom images to stick. I had never tried it before because I like the car wallpaper, but I just successfully changed my lock screen image to this:
I have the same issue. When I select a picture from the gallery and resize it reverts back to a stock locksceen image.

Ok, I placed the jpeg images in the DCIM folder and I also took a picture to see if it would show up. The picture showed up in the gallery but the images I copied to the file did not. CRAP!!! I don't get it. I'm running the latest "Lifeless JB" rom. I hope someone finds a fix for this soon.

Are you running "Lifeless" too?
I hate to ask but while the topic is still on Lockscreen wallpaper. I feel like asking a question regarding this.
Is it possible to have multiple wallpapers for the lockscreen?
By this I mean you have Wallpaper1 as a lockscreen. Then if you turn off the screen then when you turn on the phone again then Wallpaper2 will appear? Is this possible?

Not with "Lifeless" Rom at the moment. I would suggest asking the developer of the Rom to include it in the next upgrade or instruct you on how to do it.
However, I think I also remember seeing a "Lockscreen Launcher" app that had that feature but I can't be sure.
I tried installing images everywhere....still no luck. Changing it one time to a gallery image automatically changed it to my google account pic, WHAT THE HELL? If anyone else is having this issue I think it would be best to let the developer know its definitely a "bug", unless there's a genius out there with a quick fix.
i had to do a factory reset to fix my lock screen. its a nuisance but worth it to have my personal picture as the lock screen

Crap, thats what I was afraid I would have to do. Oh well, I guess any fix is better than none. I PM'ed the developer on this issue so maybe he'll come up with another fix one of these days for the Rom.

I don't think its a ROM issue because it happened to me when I upgrade to jb.

I recently rooted my phone and am using the Stockorama ROM. I'm also using Nova Launcher.
I've been wanting to change the wallpaper for my Lock screen, but when I get to the point of choosing which folder to get the picture from
all I get is the "Wallpaper" folder. Now I've looked around many threads/forums and I can't seem to find the answer.
Please help,
Thanks in advance
are you trying to set it from the home screen, or settings?
If you've replaced the launcher it won't give you access to TW gallery from home screen and maybe not settings.
Install quickpic and try it again.

Thanks for the reply, but Quickpic didn't help me.
Is un-rooting my phone the only way to change my lock screen through the Gallery (or anything other than the "Wallpaper" folder) ?
I've seen other rooted phone users online who have this option available to them. It's really frustrating because I feel like
I can't change the settings for something I paid for
I'm running nova launcher and I can change lockscreen wallpaper fine.. it doesn't give you a "set as" option in gallery?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Nova should have nothing to do with the LockScreen. Look under Settings>Security options for it, it is hidden. (I'm on CM10.1 or I'd post exactly where it is.)
Its Settings, Lockscreen actually. You can customize it there, but to set wallpaper go to Settings, Display, Wallpaper, Lockscreen.

Thanks Doc, I knew it was in a weird place, but couldn't remember exactly.
The phone won't let me change the lockscreen image AT ALL. When choosing a picture and selecting "Set As" I get the following options: Contact Photo, Nova Wallpaper, QuickPic wallpaper, Wallpaper.
When I go to Settings -> Display -> -> Wallpaper -> Lockscreen The only "Select wallpaper from" option I get is: Wallpaper (The wallpaper folder of course). Could I have done something wrong when I rooted the phone? I'm pretty new to this after all (A friend rooted my last phone for me).
Are you using the Touchwiz gallery when you do this, or a different gallery like quickpic?

I'm using the Touchwiz gallery, but the same goes for QuickPic.
+1 to the "wallpaper [app??]" ONLY choice, for the lock screen
Any luck with finding the solution? Rooted quite a few devices, so far, but the combo s3+rooted stock kills me - regardless how many picture manipulation apps I tried installing/uninstalling/making defaults (gallery, quickpic among others), when going into settings -> display -> wallpaper -> lockscreen, the only available "app" to use to choose the wallpaper is ... well ... wallpaper. Trying to set up the lockscreen from one of the picture manipulation apps, via "save as", does not work with lockscreen either.
I scanned the device for the string "wallpaper", and there are some folders obscurely placed in /data/data/com.samsung.....wallpaper/.... Maybe I should try to create my own and place them in one of those wallpaper folders??? But there ought to be an easier method, otherwise why would they offer the one mentioned in the paragraph above???
