My HOX stopped working today, i have error 495 after a very long wait time before youtube starts to play video and it does not also google play do not want me to download anything - animations and stuff but no download process.
I figured out that it may be my router settings but why is that my other android device have no problem with google play and youtube ?
other thing is that my phone does work with other wifi network,
looks like someone hacked my router and locked some ports for good some of its settings are broken even after i do factory on it...
i flashed new firmware for my router and now its working - but there was some settings i had to change "default settings" that was visible after routers new firmware and those were very wrong

I have had this issue for a long time now. I just used to decide that I'll wait till i get home and download over WiFi (which worked).
But that's not a solution!!!
On my JellyBean One X:
1. Go to Settings
2. In Wireless and Networks, tap on More
3. Select Usage
4. Tap on Menu in top-right corner and make sure Restrict background data is not ticked
5. Also, uncheck Limit mobile data usage (a message appears saying that all background data restrictions will be disabled).
It is the background data restriction that causes this issue (atleast for me).
I had done the whole shabang:
Clear google play cache, data, etc. re-login with Google account, reboot, etc.

I've been having trouble trying to download apps or watching youtube videos on Wi-Fi since I installed CM7.
On the Market, when I try to install a new app or update an existing one, I get the download bar and status bar icon but the download just stalls at 0%, if I switch to 3G it works but my connection is ridiculously slow (I'm on a cheap 256kbps unlimited plan).
With Youtube, I can browse videos perfectly but when it comes to playing them, they won't start. I get the loading spinning circle for a couple of minutes and then I get the error and retry dialog.
Things I've already tried:
-Wiping cache and dalvik cache.
-Reflashing G-apps.
-Clearing data + cache + uninstalling updates of both apps.
-Signing in to Google Talk before attempting to download apps.
-Deleting the LOST.DIR on my SD Card (can't delete .android_secure).
I've seen this problem on other forums and other models but nothing seems to work for me, so maybe it's a Defy-only problem that hasn't been fixed yet.
Hope someone here has an answer for this.
TL;DR version: Youtube and Market don't work over Wi-Fi, only 3G.
EDIT: Just tried downloading (on 3G) and installing the Set DNS app and Youtube now works; no luck with the Market but at least it loads faster now...
If you can't go to the normal market, go to a black market is a good solution
Ex: Appplanet, aptoide...
It's good that youtube somehow fixed.
Thanks for your reply but I rather stay away from those kind of places, I don't want to take the risk of infecting my phone with something weird, lol. Besides I would lose the convenience of regular updates to all my apps.
I know.
I'm working on making a trusted repo. in Aptoide, where people will safe when installing apps in there.
Also, I will make it Defy-only.
@ Xummoner .. The SetDNS, which options did you select to get thru the YouTube?
I just went to Preferences and un-ticked the Override 3G DNS (since my 3G works fine and I don't want to take the chance of messing it up) and then on the main screen I chose Open DNS and Apply.
EDIT: I'm beginning to think that the issue is not related to the phone, or maybe is a combination of different things because a lot of users have been having the same problem in my country trying to access the Market and Youtube using Wi-Fi connected to a certain ISP which might be blocking the ports needed for the Market, but I'll have to investigate further.
Hi All,
I am having a lot of problem with the internet data on my phone; I can browse and use any internet required app when using wifi but I am unable to do some things using my Data plan.
Whats weird is that I can use whatsapp, olx or facebook messenger to send text messages but cannot send images through them, I am able to play games such as Clash of Clans or Clash Royale but I cannot use Uber because it just keeps signing in but it never does.
At this point I don't think theres a problems with the hardware but with a specific setting I may need to modify (May be wrong though)
Heres what I've tried so far:
- Factory reset
- Reset Network settings
- Erase and add all of the APNS for my phone company
- Check on the mobile data (enable and disable) and enable roaming data.
- Made sure the SIM fits properly on the slot
- Uninstall and reinstall all the apps that I have had problems with.
- Everything tested ok when using wifi but it starts happening when I start using my mobile data.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, I love the phone but am pretty disappointed on this situation I am having, Am even thing of maybe go back to Android 6.0 and see if 7.0 is the problem
Thanks!!!
Victor
Hi,
You need to check your sprint account and check if there is some restriction on your phone number
I had the same problem, everything ok with wifi but data partially working.
What i did is install the HiddenMenu apk then:
-LG Hidden Menu
-FieldTest
-NAO Test
-NAOT
-NAOT Settings > Enable > NAO Carrier: i selected ATT.
Then i restarted the phone and voila.
When i restart my phone i get an anoying Activating Device Popup. What i do is unlock the phone before it appears and when it comes up i slide down the notification bar and go to settings many time until the popup dissapears.

after the last update this application has ceased to work. How can I fix the problem with the transfer of mobile Internet data on the phone?

OK, I"m baffled. I've looked everywhere for the solution, including all over this web site.
My SM-G960U running stock Android 9 periodically goes into a mode where it marks all app updates and other downloads as "Download Pending." After a while (measured in days) it downloads everything and goes back to normal for a while. This behavior occurs irregularly and appears to me to be unrelated to some change I made in settings. For a while, I was able to correct the problem by force-stopping the Play Store and clearing its cache, but lately, even that doesn't work. I've also tried force-stopping, clearing the cache and data; no luck. Somebody wrote on this web site "Just turn on battery saver and your apps will update." I don't see "battery saver" anywhere and "maximum power saving" mode won't even let me get to the play store. I've adjusted the apps permissions to everything on.
This time around it's been more than a week and I have 68 updates in "download pending."
Once again, I am running stock, have not attempted to root the device nor have I modified it with any ROMs. Auto-update is normally off. (I don't see the point in updating bloatware that I don't use.) However, this problem continues with it on. The problem also persists whether on cellular data or wifi and I've told the app to use either one.
Please help me solve a very frustrating problem. Thanks.

I don't think battery saving will help, actually it will limit background processes. But that guy meant by "battery saver" an option called "Medium power saving", you can find it above the "maximum power saving" in power mode menu.
I had a similar problem, sometimes when I try to download an app, it says "download pending" so I go to "my apps & games", and I press "update all" then I press "stop", then I download the app again and everything works fine...

Try clearing DATA for the play store and Google Play Services (Will probably have to log back in to Google Play)
Thanks, guys for helping. Turns out it appears to be my VPN, which was one of the first things I looked into.
Connections > More connection settings > VPN got me to a "Settings" icon which in turn allowed me to turn off "Block connections without VPN. I then turned off the VPN and the Play Store started DL-ing the updates.. Don't know why this is in device settings, rather than the app's settings, but it is.
I will work with the VPN provider to see if their app and the Play Store can play together nicely.
For the moment, at least, I'm calling this one "Solved."
Why would using a VPN prevent updating apps from the play store?

PIA is Private Internet Access, ( a VPN) I had exactly the same problem with the Playstore too, could only get it to get the downloads started by turning PIA off

My phone didn't do that running Android 8, it was after the update in Android 9. Is there any way around this? What if the Wi-Fi router used the VPN setting and the phone was just receiving that WIFI VPN signal. So the phone would not have VPN on it, would you still need to disable the VPN in the router settings to download and update apps?
The android play store is completely broken for me. It's been doing this for the last two weeks. Never had an issue before. I rarely post on XDA anymore because I never have problems with my phone and I'm tech savvy enough to troubleshoot my own stuff but I need help with this. The play store will only download apps and updates via wifi. After troubleshooting the app sometimes I can get it to work but most of the time it will be stuck at 99%, 49%, 36% downloaded or will just say "waiting for download" . I want to be able to use it without having to use wifi. I'm pretty sure it's a bug.
My play store settings:
App download preference: Over any network
Auto update apps: Dont auto update
Troubleshooting steps I took
1. Force close, clear cache
2. Force close, clear data
3. The above + restarting
4. Clear cache of play services and restart
5. Clear cache of download manager and restart
6. Full factory reset of my phone
7. Restarting mobile data, turning off/on wifi/Bluetooth
After the full restart I started to believe that an update somewhere broke the play store. I'm fully stock non rooted on Verizon. Every other app works just fine if it needs to use mobile data. I'm really frustrated and would like some assistance with this.
What email account is your playstore showing it is using? Is it a fully legitimate Gmail account? Or is it an email account that is a student account? Maybe business related?
And have you disabled any apps?
Possible fix...
I've been having the same issue on my rooted S8 since about a week after I bought it two years ago. I could never download new apps or do updates over the air. Now, I just in the last week bought a Note 10+ 5G and set it up with the second of the two Gmail accounts I have. I'm still using the same SIM card I've had for over a year. The Gmail account having issues with OTA updates is over 25 years old now, the newer one's about five years old. Now, as much as I'd like it to be the Note's not rooted, and if I'm logged into the newer Google account it's quite happily grabbing Play Store app. updates over the air.
You beauty!, you say. "Fixed it you have", would say Master Yoda.
Um, no.
If I switch back to the older Google account I instantly lose the ability to download anything over the air. Grabbing stuff while the device is connected to the internet via a wi-fi hotspot works like a charm, but I've tried every solution offered to me by Google technicians and Android experts alike and STILL can't get it download and install an app. when I'm anywhere other than hooked up to my home router. Go figure!
So yeh, just letting you know you're not the only one.
EDIT: Just had a play around (pardon the pun) with -> Settings -> Google Settings -> Google Account
Try this out and see how you go.
1. After you land in Google Settings, make sure the Google account you're having OTA dramas with is showing.
2. Tap on 'Data and Messaging'.
3. Tap on 'Data Management'.
4. Tap on 'Update Drive-enabled app. files'.
5. Tap on 'Over Wi-Fi or mobile data'
Back-arrow your way out, check that your handset is NOT connected to the internet via wi-fi, then go to Play Store, check for updates and they should download without issues over your mobile service provider's network connection. Please note that your mobile data allowance will be used, but you should also be able to wander the streets and grab new apps without needing to connect to a wi-fi hotspot.
Yippee! Oh, and don't applaud...
just throw money.
Hi all, I have a weird issue with my Pixel 6 Pro.
It simply won't update any apps. I can install apps from the play store but successively no updates are shown. This issue began all of a sudden with apparently no reason.
I tried to clear all data, clear cache, uninstall updates, nothing helps.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do?
Thanks!
Are you rooted or unlocked?
Nope, 100% stock
Another weird issue is that Play services are still at 1st November update and occasionally, play store says it's waiting for WiFi when trying to download an app but WiFi is on and has internet connection. I have to restart the phone to fix this.
Normally putting the device into airplane mode and *clearing data for Google Play Services and Google Play Store would solve most Play Store issues
Other things to try:
- Check Play Store is certified (Play Store -> Settings - About
- Check Date And Time (Settings -> Date And Time) try toggling Set Time Automatically, Set Time Zone Automarically and Use Locale Default off and back on
- * Try resetting Network Settings (Settings -> System -> Reset Options -> Reset WiFi, Mobile And Bluetooth
* Disclaimer/Warning: Be aware doing this if you have a Watch 4/5 or other WearOS Watch as it will sever the Watch connection, leading to you having to reset the Watch and set it up from scratch. This is also a concern when clearing data for Google Play Services/Google Play Store.

Restart your device, as a temporary bug on the app can also cause this problem.
Thanks everyone for your replies. None of the listed solutions had an immediate effect but updating resumed on its own after a couple of days with no apparent reason (?).
