Hi guys.
I installed a custom rom on my international device and i would like to return to stock but don't know what ruu to download.
I have installed CID Getter and it only says htc_044...didn't find anything any other details.
Is there a way?
Thanks!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604
You can probably install a newer ruu. I mean with a higher hboot than the one you have now.
It's possible to upgrade a hboot but NOT downgrade .... If i'm right you're ruu depends of the combination of hboot and cid.

unfortunately, i did not make any backup of the original stock rom.
and yes, it's strange, but i do get service and data. should i install a radio through fastboot?
Thanks
Does this match your carrier
HTC-Asia-SEA-WWE HTC__044
If i'm right here you have 2 options in ruu's
And I think you can flash both of them, because your hboot is lower than those 2.
They are on htcruu.com link i posted earlier

Yes sir. It worked flawlessly.
sorry if its a stupid question, but can I install a different RUU?
Thank you!
The command you were looking for was:
fastboot getvar version-main
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I don't think it's needed, if you run a ruu and after that in android os.check for software updates if there aren't any then you are on the latest software (.ruu version) for the phone.
If someone could confirm this ....I'm not 100% on this

I have the version 2.17.65.2 and my CID is ORANG_216. My provider is Orange CH (Switzerland)...
I have not found my version on the website www.htcruu.com.
Where I get my RUU?
Thanks for helping
Well it could be that your RUU is not released ! The only thing then is to het a stock rom from somebody else who has a stock non rooted rom from the same carrier.
I assume you did not made a backup from you're own stock rom before flashing you're first custom rom
Verstuurd van mijn HTC One X
I have a nandroid backup from the first stock rom.. It would be more comfortable with a RUU...
Thanks
A stock backup is the same as a ruu....the difference is 0 ! And you can leave you're bootloader unlocked
So actually you wasted my time because you let me search a ruu you don't even need !

Sorry to make you repeat but can I confirm that if I made a nandroid backup of my stock Rom before, I can just restore that via clockworkmod recovery and then load up and check for OTA update?
Will I lose root? I know I'm a noob but sometimes it gets really too confusing

Thanks bro, really appreciated!
I indeedclooked for it in the back to stock guide but at the time of writing it wasn’t there yet.
Real life savers there, on a side note, is there a stand alone stock recovery image for HTC 10, European 3.16.401.2?
So I don't have to restore the whole system?
Thanks a bunch.
Stock recovery is included in the first download link
Maybe stupid question, but may I flash such a backup or a ruu for Oreo even if I didn't upgrade my firmware yet? Will the firmware be updated after that or do I have to upgrade it via OTA before?
Thanks for your answers
You can't flash a backup, only to restore it.
Anyway, firmware flashing is required.

You are definitely going to need Oreo firmware.
It won't boot without it.
Just restoring a Twrp backup does not update firmware, ever.

Lol please don't share it, it must contain personal data. The stock image is not bigger than 1.8 gig. And you are responding to a post from February, there has been a lot of development since then.
And there is a ruu for this version. And delete your email for online abuse.
This sort of backups are kinda obsolete. The ruu is easier, flash and it's stock.

Sorry to be another necro but my HTC 10 doesn't have an OS anymore and I can't get any RUUs to work as the only ones I've been able to find are NA versions but i have the HTC_001 unlocked version. Do you know if theres an RUU I can flash?

You can't just guess on any ruu file to flash, you always need one with a specific number. Boot to download mode and check the OS line. Once you posted that we can check for your correct ruu.
Htc 001 CID is the wwe version. Those ruu files are available. That's the Oreo ruu

That's the one I've been downloading but i've been having issues downloading from AFH hopefully it works. Will this work through htc_fastboot as i'm S-on and have a locked bootloader. Thanks
