Not quite the same dude's..
On the front view, you can see that the screen is slightly larger than S3.
The Home Button also different with S3 which the S3 Home Button is curvy and looks like wedges but not with Note 2 where the Home Button is more to rectangular shape.

On the rear view, you can see that the camera is side by side with flash like the old Note where the speaker is down below near the S-Pen.
The Note 2 is more similar to the previous Note but I think in terms of physical compare to S3, you can differentiate it by just looking at the Home Button from the front view while the difference from the rear view is of course by the camera where S3 camera is side by side with the speaker and flash but not with Note 2 where only the flash side by side with the camera.
Hope this help. :silly:

ok I apologize I must not have been clear enough
any accessory made for a sprint S3 will fit a verizon S3 will fit a tmobile S3 will fit an orange S3 will fit a german S3 a russian S3 a japanese S3
NOW if I get a Sprint Note II and a Verizon Note II and a T-Mobile Note II and an International Note II
WILL THEY BE PHYSICALLY the same to each other? ie all accessories will work among them (cases etc..)
NOT S3 to Note II
but ONE carriers Note II to another Carriers Note II
ie S2 each one was different. but S3 they all the same
same with Note II ?

Tmobile usa is a quad Band
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium

yep I kind of got that. tmobile att and international will be GSM VZ/cr/met/sprint/boost will be CDMA
that is "INTERNAL"
if you buy an otter box for the internation S3 it will fit "ANY OTHER" S3 in the world
if I buy an otter box for a sprint note II will it fit ANY OTHER note II in the world?

Yes the note is the same across all brands
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app

i smiled after feeling the frustration you had after all the comments misunderstood you
to answer your question, yes they are all the same (except this disgusting verizon logo on the home button on its version)
so lets enjoy the amazing and over whelming accessories support,NOT!
it seems like all accessories makers are in deep sleep everyone was like just wait few days before the american release you will find all kind of stuff for the note 2
but so far,nothing,nada,zip,zilch,zero,nix,rein!
Sorry that was over the top am just a bit pissed for the lack of accessories >_<

hehe
well its not looking TOO bad for such a new device. there are already some variety of cases including a stitch case which will be my first order if I get a Note II
so I am hopeful. hopefully the bamboo cases will come along shortly. I don't expect the note II to get the support the S3 gets but it should get MORE Since they are all the same
trying finding neat stuff for the S2 from sprint. it was the Best S2 (larger screen) but all the "cool" stuff was made for the international style S2

[Q] Any hope for physical keyboard accessory?

Hi everyone,
Does anyone how to contact Samsung for requesting them to design an official accessory? Or even an after market company if its interested in making physical (bluetooth?) keyboard for Galaxy note.
Something like this:

I don't think anyone buying Galaxy note is concerned about the size or thickness of such accessory and probably it can make gripping the phone easier. Also, it is possible to add more battery juice with such design. With all that in mind, I think there is a great market for such accessory for this phone or other phones in general.
What do you think about this? and Do you know any contact info for samsung (Not the customer service - I want to contact someone who takes my words seriously) or other companies to ask them for such accessory?
Brief info (You can skip it):
I really got tired from waiting for mobile with dual-core (now seems: quad cores are coming), good GPU, 1GB RAM & with sd-card extendability and decent screen with physical keyboard and good battery. After long time waiting, Galaxy Note came to meet my needs, but with only one major thing missing for me a physical keyboard. After seeing a physical case for iPhone, I said why there can't be any for Galaxy note? and here I am writing new thread about this.
OMG this accessory is my DREAM.
Is theire any keybord like this compatible with the Galaxy S2 ???

eBay and Google might help you in this. Yesterday, I couldn't find one for Samsung Galaxy (Only for TAB like dock) or anything rather than iPhone.

First, thanks for this useful post.
I think I needed to be more specific about this, the keyboard should be in case. I mean when you need it, you slide it out and when finish get it in. Like Droids(milestones) and Xperia Pro/Play.
It is really annoying to carry bt keyboard with you all the time (as the official bt keyboard).
By the way, Logitech keyboard doesn't seems particle. Having it seems better than nothing and I'll need to think about it more. Also, Do you think it going to fit with Galaxy note?
Edit: it seems the guy with the keyboard (Logitech diNovo Mini) attached it to his dell streak with tape.

The Logitech keyboard looks amazing. I think i will buy it and test with my Note. But it's pretty expensive. So it will take some time.
I like physicall keyboards, and I think for such a big device like the Note you can create a great keyboard, better then HTC's.
I found on amazon some interesting bluetooth keyboards. And much cheaper. Honestly they cost min. 30 €.
I think i will order one in sone weeks for testing. If it will be good, i think i can make a matching case myself.

Great keyboard but expensive ... I'm looking this with Azerty keyboard and more cheaper ...

Accessories for the Note 10.1 (Samsung and third party)

One problem with the Note 10.1 is that it's about 1/4" wider and taller than the other Tabs. That means you can't fit it into stock cases or docks without some surgery.
So, rather than people buying things and seeing if they'll work, perhaps we can compile a list of accessories we've tried and that work well with the Note 10.1.
Today I stumbled on this:

The Asus VersaSleeve for the Pad series.
It's almost a perfect fit for the Note 10.1 - and it has a loop on the side where you can stow a space pen.
Yes, the irony is delightful.
More info here: http://www.asus.com/Peripherals_Accessories/Eee_Pad_Accessories/VersaSleeve/
Also, in case you didn't know - almost ANY Wacom PenEnabled pen (ie: TabletPC pen) works with the Note 10.1
For example - the digital pen for the Samsung Series 7 Slate:
Not only works fine - it adds the eraser end which works with most app. Being longer and heavier - it's easier to use to draw and write.
More info here: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Serie...4&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+series+7+tablet+pen
If you search for PenEnabled in Amazon, you can find other colours and styles as well.
Enjoy!

Time to upgrade from my S2, it's between Note 2 and S3! Help!

Planning to upgrade from my Galaxy S2 (Sprint) here very soon. Contract is up and it's time. Now i'm pretty much on the fence between the Note 2 vs the S3 (US Market).
I'm guessing the S3 due to the popularity of it, will have a better or more substantial community support with roms, kernels, and themes etc.
The more media I watch and read about the Note 2, the more blown away I am with it. My only concern is the shear size of the beast. I went to the store recently and looked at the Note 1 and that thing is huge, is the Note 2's size the same, but just with a bigger screen? Or did they have to increase the screen size of the actual phone to accommodate it? How does the Note 2 feel in your pocket? I don't use my S2 much for phone calls, it's mostly my media hub. When I do use it, it's mostly via bluetooth. The S3 seems like a great size, but i'm dissapointed with the lack of a quadcore like the non-US markets. The Note 2 will be the first quadcore phone in the states, so I'm very interested in it. Anyone that upgraded from a smaller phone S2-S3, how did you find the transition of size? Does it feel uncomfortable to hold in one hand? Is two hands always necessary? Thanks!
If you're a media freak, the obvious choice is Note 2. Nothing beats a quad core and 2GB RAM.
The S3 has already been out for a half year, and by getting the Note 2, you future proof it just a little bit more than the S3.
Also, the Note 1 feel is not the same as the Note 2. The Note 2 is slimmer, and more "wrap"-friendly than the Note 1. There's a big difference in the feel of the Note 1 and 2.
Thanks for that. I was worried it was going to be thicker but good to know it's actually thinner!

Obviously Note 2.
No Comparison
If you can handle the size no question the Note 2 is the way to go.
Yesterday, on its first full charge I got this screen-on time with 18hrs on battery:

Honestly...the GSIII feels really good when you hold it like it was made just for your hand...so I'm interested to see how the GNote II feels..
Why don't you wait for Black Friday? The GSIII is only $50 on contract that day only.

I own both, given a choice right now get the note 2 unless the size really bothers you, it is a much better device.

At&t Note 2 on Sprint?

OK so this is a fun one. I want to use my att note 2 on sprint. I know the phone has built in CDMA but I wouldn't know how to go about using it or even using it on sprint. And for anyone who needs extra info it will be FreedomPop I will be using not actually sprint. So if you are thinking can't be done because sprint won't let me or bla bla bla. FreedomPop does BYOD. Thanks for any help. Oh and yes I did try and search already best I fount was sprint note 2 trying to go to att or simple mobile and such.
Sent from my Note II
Since Sprint isn't a GSM network, the at&t note 2 isn't compatible.
The note 2 has CDMA radios built in it. And even found in the hidden menu.
Sent from my Note II
There is a menu option in the firmware but that doesn't mean the CDMA modem is present.
I have read that it is and also with the s3.

Source you mentioned please, because it's not mentioned in the technical specs.
S3 at&t specs:
Nothing here either.
I could not also find any info saying that it does include the CDMA radios. But I know that its also not reported that the Verizon or sprint variants have gsm capabilities but with mods and such that have been able to achieve it. I have also read somewhere can't find the source again that the s3 and note 2 have the same hardware in every USA variant of the phone no matter which model. It just has different settings set up. If I am wrong then that's sucks for me. But I'm sure someone who makes Roms and kernels should know I think what is actually in our phones. Mostly while searching for a way to have this done I don't see anyone who wants to do it. Most people want to go from CDMA phone to gsm option not the other way around. I have seen a few people who want to have there at&t phones on Verizon but no matter what Verizon doesn't do that even if it was CDMA they don't port in any ESN numbers into there system. I tried looking for people wanting cricket on there gsm model note 2 but only found people who see gsm and CDMA as completely incompatible but now many Verizon phones do both mostly Samsung including all in one in there phones.
Sent from my Note II
It would be the first phone I've seen to have two different modem chips in them. Seems a little unlikely. But making only one version of system software makes sense.
The Verizon and sprint models do have both CDMA and gsm and even LTE built in.
Sent from my Note II
Verizon specs:
Sorry, no GSM capability.
Sprint specs:
It shows the chip is there. But if the phone doesn't use a SIM card, its a no-go for at&t network.

Those links are instructions to mod a sprint phone to work on gsm networks. They couldn't get phone to recognize at&t network. They had to add a sim card holder. Pretty sketchy.
But you wanted to do the opposite.
I posted them mostly to show that other variants of our phone have the radios and that maybe so do we. I would have no idea how to find out. Or how to enable them if needed.

Backup and view S-notes on s7

Hi xda.
Since i'll be returning my note7 and exchanging it for an s7 edge, i wonder if there's a way to save all the notes i made with the phone and also if theres an app the i can view them with on th s7.
I've been using the note products since the note 2 and have made hundreds of notes which i kept as i upgraded. Most of these notes are important for my work as a product design engineer(sketches, calculations) so i would really want to still be able to use them when i change to the s7. Hopefully samsung will still come up with a future note device because the s-pen is really a huge convenience for me. I've never had a non-note smartphone ever and its probably going to be hard adjusting to the s7.
Would appreciate if you could help me out.

But how about viewing them in the s7? Can i install the notes app in the s7 just for the purpose of being able to view them or maybe even be able to edit them sans the s-pen functions?

I got one of these to use with my S7 Edge. That way I have something compact to carry around for spontaneous note taking. I forward calls to it from my S7 and use it with IconX ear buds when I only want to carry one device. It's a fun little tablet.
