My local Best Buy has Powermats for the Evo out now. They have the battery door by itself for $35 and a set that comes with a single width mat and battery cover for $60. I didn't get one because I use a case but I thought I would share because I know some of you were excited to get one.
Yep confirmed 59.99.

you know the stock evo comes with the lens protected. The lens is down inside the phone and has a protective window (which everyone keeps calling a lens) that it looks through.
This case appears to have some added bulk to keep the WINDOW off surfaces.
I love mine. I'm not a fan of cases, although it wouldn't be too difficult to hack up a silicon or tpu case to make it fit. I just appreciate not having wires to use anymore.
I picked up a powermat last night for my evo.
It seems to work pretty well, the fit is good, and only adds about 1 mm to the thickness of the battery door. The sprint silicone case fits over it with no modifications needed.
The mat is only fully powered when it detects a device to charge. It has a single magnet for alignment, and is easy to center on the pad as needed. There is also audible feedback when the phone is detected and the power is turned on.
It will charge through the standard sprint silicone case, but the alignment is not as easy, and I didn't try to check if the charging rate was changed by the extra case.
The compass in the phone seems to still work with a slight wobble to "north", while turning the phone 360 deg. The magnetic field strength reading is boosted to over 60/48ths , but calibrating the magnometer seems to allow compass use.
This is the same price as on the powermat website and you don't have to pay tax if you buy directly or shipping if you choose ground UPS. Wouldn't buying from best buy mean you're paying tax?
I'd just put it on my amex and if anything happened, they'd cover it.
They don't seem to sell it via the BestBuy website, can't even find it there.
Plus, doesn't Best Buy charge a restocking fee. The powermat folks seem to give a full refund in 30 days. Good way to try it out and see if it's worthwhile without the restocking fee.
i have one question about using a powermat itself. IF you plug this into the powermat or lay it down on the strip, whatever, how do you sync with your PC? You still have to hardwire to your desktop don't you? Unless you're always using Google services?

Nope, you're right. No restocking fee implictly quoted in their main refund/return policy. Still have to pay tax though.
And, how do you sync the device with your desktop? If you're running bluetooth all the time, it will eat your battery, if you have to hardwire in, kind of makes the powermat irrelevant.
I saw this the other day too when wandering the mobile department. I didn't have a chance to read too carefully into it, but just want to confirm it is still safe to charge via the regular ac adapter/car charger too, right?
Anyone know if the cover would work with a touchstone charger? I guess I'm just too lazy to do the touchstone mod myself and it seems like it might work. Sorry for the dumb question

With the power mat, does it come with a battery and if so whats the mah?

Yes it is still safe to plug in a normal ac or car charger.

No the only thing you are replacing is the battery cover which is used with the mat.
Essentially the battery cover has the magnet and induction charging built into it. That is why there is the little connector on the bottom. Essentially it used the induction cover as the charger to charge the batter through the normal usb connection. Hope this clears up all the confusion and mystery surrounding this. I picked one up myself and I do like it. I only use the leather pouch from HTC which was able to stretch to fit the extra peice on the bottom.

New review:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMsOp0EI6YA .
The reviewer says the the new powermat battery door is flush with the camera lens [protector glass].
If this was true, this battery door is going to make the camera lens even more prone to scratching.
Don't see why you're all crying about the camera "lens"...if it's that big of a deal, put a bulky, useless cover over the damn thing. Otherwise, quit your complaining (or stop being so abusive).
Picked one up yesterday (actually two, but that's another story). LOVE LOVE LOVE that the back door is only slightly thicker..can't even notice it. The "dongle" sticking out is no biggie for me and actually, kind of a nice addition...easier to find "up" and easier to hold the phone in landscape.
It charges about the same speed as my car charger...don't know what the amperage is on it, but it IS slower than my wall outlet.
Anyway, rather than waiting for shipping (best buy didn't have any single mats) I ended up buying another EVO set (door and pad) so I can leave one at work. Looks like I'll be able to pull the setup off the door and stick it on my Overdrive, though
Does anyone know if it will still charge if using a case like seidio active?
I don't think the bottom part will be a problem and it should still work with the holster.
Anyone tried it?

I picked up my Powermat this past Sunday and I LOVE IT!
I tried my nice cheap-ie holster from eBay ($3.50), naked, phone faces outward. With the powermat backing installed it DOES NOT fit. It is slightly thicker due to the magnet in the base.
My main motivation for the purchase was obviously to use it wirelessly, which is just amazing (loved it on the Pre, but I think I like powermat better... now if they could just make it available for the PS3 controllers lol), the ulterior motive was to get it so that the camera lens was not touching any flat surface I put it on..... and it doesn't! granted it's only like one millimeter, but still thats more than enough assurance for me!

Seconded... The little dongle is supported by my little finger just a tad which makes it just a tad easier to hold in landscape.
I thought that was going to be a major no-go for me, but I like it. And it's easy enough to unplug it to allow it to be plugged into the computer.
I don't know if its because of the rom I'm using (airborne 3.1), or because of how the powermat is alleged to charge, but I'm getting A TON better battery life since I installed both airborne 3.1 and the powermat.

I have tried this and was not happy with the way the case was stretched at the bottom. If anyone wants to see pictures I can try to accommodate and snag some. Also tried out a Otterbox case (no go) and Seidio hip case (tight fit). Some may accept the power bridging powermat has decided to use but I plan to return it for now. I really wish powermat would have designed internal cabling instead. If they ever offer that revision I am down!
a warning to you folks. the OEM vehicle dock "DOES NOT" properly fit the Sprint Epic touch.
the 4 corners of the cradle DO NOT engage the phone at all. the phone simple "squeezes" between them. without even engaging the suction cup just sitting it on a desk I was able to disengage the phone with 2 fingers. IE the first bump you hit the phone is coming out.
the only thing holding it in is the USB Socket which is precisely what you do NOT want (force acting on that socket)
Also the usb socket will not engage the phone (it seems the sprint SII is a hair "thicker" than the infuse?) you have to PUSH UP from the backside of the dock to "lift" the dock connector just enough to allow it to engage the phones usb socket.
this screams bad news to me.
it truly is a gorgeous dock. I WANT it badly but alas I have to send it back I won't trust my very expensive phone to it.
Here is a video showing the issues. I REALLY hope they make a proper dock for this phone it needs one badly. I HAD those generic docks so much they are flat out ugly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct4TuPJayHQ
the seller on ebay was very cool no problem letting me send it back for a full refund. (doing that tomorrow)
I really wish I could keep it. while I would LOSE the "dock" functionality the cradle could VERY easily be modified to securely hold the phone.
but this dock is too expensive to trash its internals to do this at $29.
$10 dock I would hack it up it in a heartbeat.
any found a "proper" designed for epic touch car cradle yet? prefer a uni 4 point connector style (I have a mount right on my steering wheel)
The OEM car dock odds what you need. It works perfect. Stop wasting time with stuff made for a different phone.
Dicho por el E4GT de Latinmaxima con Tapatalk.
well it was advertised as FOR the epic touch 4g. clearly its not
gonna stalk an AT&T store tomorrow and see if I get luck for a cheap one to mod.
save up enough to buy the official epic touch one.
that's not the infuse vehicle dock that ATT was selling. i bought one direct from ATT when it was on sale for $18.00, and it is nearly identical to the genuine E4GT dock. ATT seems to have gotten smart and jacked the price up - you can't even find the infuse dock on their site, but now you can find an overpriced galaxy SII dock. the infuse is available on amazon, but it's more expensive than the genuine dock.
this is what it looks like:
http://amzn.com/B004WOBMIY
and this is the genuine dock:
http://amzn.com/B005LBEG80
so you're better off just buying the real thing.
i've been using mine for a month now, about three hours of daily driving, it's never popped out or come loose.

Yea, I got the same dock from at&t and it looks different from the OP's. I'm not sure if he modded it to make it longer but if that's the way it came then it definitely isn't the one that was offered for under $20 from the at&t deal.
I use mine on trips consisting of more than 30+ minutes and it has never fallen out of place. Not to mention my car has a stiffer suspension with coilovers so it's more susceptible to falling out.
well I drive a 94 Geo metro Xfi.
it don't get much more rough than that hehe
but its worth it for the 60mpg
Been using an infuse dock for about 2 months now and my phone fits fine. Yes there are gaps in the corners because the e4gt has more rounded corners than the infuse but it is secure. Btw the seller you bought it from must have swap the base because the oem comes with a fixed arm not a gooseneck. Goosenecks shake more while fixed arms don't.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
nono the goosneck is mine that is not what came with it
I have no idea if this is the AT&T dock or not I got it from ebay as an infuse oem dock advertised as comp with epic touch 4g. its not.
just giving people heads up if they find the same thing
Clean your desk.
OP, I think you got something different than the ATT Infuse Dock.
The one I have from ATT fits the phone nicely, and while it's not perfect, I have not had the phone pop out that easily.
Glad the person on eBay is letting you return it.
I will sure find out tomorrow.
My local AT&T has one and its $17 he is holding it for me.
at $17 I am willing to hack it up a bit. I will do a side by side before sending the one I got on ebay back.
the one I got flat out does not fit. its a friction fit only (watch the video remember that goosneck is mine did not come with the dock)
ie nothing actually "holds" the phone save the usb jack which is exactly what you don't want. ONE slip one accident and your in trouble
I have no problems with my dock

OK i have managed it, getting the palm touchstone to wirelessly charge the S3
it does bulge the back cover ever so slightly, but new ones are available.. and it will tide me over until the official solution is released in September
it charges slightly slower than with a directly attached cable, about 450ma i get about 950ma from the direct connection.
but it is much less hassle

In all honest its not much, and as you saw the cover still closes ok
It will do for a few months until the oficial cover is available
I have those parts and a soldering iron. I might buy a spare cover and give it a go.
I mounted a touchstone in my car and charged my Pre that way. It would be pretty killer if I could do it with the S3.

try to replace normal wire by copper wire like I did and the backcover is perfectly fit

hopefully more ideas can be shared. Copper tape might work well
Okay so i got the official wireless charger back cover from Verizon. With the wireless back on the phone(it adds some thickness) none of my cases would fit anymore. So If you bend the back cover with the wireless charger on it. The charger will begin to slowly peel away and off of the case. You can then transfer it to your new case. So i pulled it apart and put it in my otterbox defender case(i also put it in my trident kraken case and it worked). Works like a charm. If you have any questions just ask! also if you like the mod hit the thanksss button for me

When you took out the back battery cover and put the otterbox defender on top of it,
Did it create gapps on the hole of the camera, speaker, and flash where debris or dirt can
Easily get inside?
Can you take a picture of the back of the phone with the inductive charger put in while inside of the otterbox case please?
I never noticed it till i took this picture. However im probly going to cut the camera section off of the verizon case and glue it inside the otterbox so it seals that gap
I cut out a rectangle around the camera section of a pebble blue battery cover i got for free. put it in the case and you can see it fills int he gap.
I had to give my phone/case a good cleaning after looking at these pics lol
Does the charger tell you when the battery is charged?

The charging pad beeps when your phone starts/stops charging. It also has a green battery light that flashes while charging and will stop flashing and stay on when the phone is done charging.
Where?
Can I please ask where you guys are getting your wireless charging cover? It is out of stock on VZW's website, and I even went to a local corporate store and they told me all the regional warehouses are out of stock and a back-order for one can't even be placed!

1. Yes. Many choices, more than I'd care to link.
2. Yes. Again a lot of choices. HERE is one at random.
3. Yes. But it's not a Factory setup. But they do work well. One used by many people is THIS one.
4. I believe the largest is 2300mAh. You can find them all over the place. Just be wary of who you buy from. I ordered one of THESE for my wife. If you want Extended with a larger cover, you can go all the way to 7000mAh.

Good answer, and some good links to some accessories I didn't even know existed! The only thing, though, it that the OP was asking these questions about using the Otterbox Commuter case. I have had one for quite a while and can at least answer one of your questions:
Wireless Charging with the Otterbox Commuter:
I picked up the wireless charger back with the Palm Touchstone off of Ebay, but was disappointed because it wasn't strong enough to charge through the case. I didn't want to waste my investment of $45, so I went the DIY route and made a hole in the back of my case the size of the touchstone. I know it sounds ghetto-tastic, but it works quite well. It sets and charges with no issue and even stays "locked in" when the headphone cord is pulled a little. Obviously, my case is less sturdy than before, but I have dropped my phone a number of times since and there has been no damage to the phone.
I have put together a small album showing what my phone looks like with the giant hole in the back of the case. Please forgive the poor picture quality, as I was taking them with my Transformer, which doesn't have the most stellar camera.
Hope this has been informative
I also have an Otter Box case. I switch between that, and the Zero Lemon 7000mAh Battery/ Case Combo. As I stated above the choices for a Dock were just Random. As there are really to many choices. Not knowing the person, or how they use the Dock. It is difficult to be very Specific. As for the thread on Wireless Charging. I pointed to that one Specifically because I know someone who is currently using that one with an Otter Box case with no issues.
Thanks guys! I will be getting this or a note 2.. I can't decide so I will leave it to fate and pick whatever one is the best deal on ebay come Friday.
