New Galaxy note 2 owner with 2 questions - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am a proud new owner of a Tmobile Galaxy Note 2 and I have a few issues. My previous phone that this replaced was a Galaxy Nexus. The first problem is that I can't get my Google Voice emails to go to the inbox. I have changed it in the call settings but when someone calls, their voicemails are sent to the T-mobile servers instead. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Also, I was able to tether with the native app on my Galaxy Nexus. When I tried to tether with the galaxy note 2, it says that my plan does not support it. I tried using an app called foxfi but it doesn't work with Jelly Bean. Do I need to wait for a root or is there another app that I can try. Thanks to anyone who can help!

[Q] Wi-fi tether on Verizon?

Hi Guys, i'm planning on getting a Note 2 on Verizon as soon as it comes out. I have been using the Droid Bionic and love the wifi tether app that allows me to share data with other devices without having to pay the extra $30 that Verizon asks for. I was wondering if i can do the same on the Note 2? i tried looking around for an answer but couldn't find one anywhere.

yes. just install one of many tethering apps and you'll be able to. wifi will need root permissions most likely. but usb tethering will probably be fine.
depending how VZW does makes the built in app, you could use it. if they don't track it. which some companies do..
U already have an integrated tether app found in your settings. Just customize as u like, turn it on, and there u go

Not sure how Verizon is going to setup their hotspot on the Note 2, but to get around it, why not use this?
FoxFi - Google Play
No rooting required.

I bought T-mobile Note 2 and FOXFI doesn't work. and my phone is rooted so i installed Wifitether, on my phone it show that tethering is enabled but i don't see the ssid on my laptop or other android device. i thought the ssid was hidden but no it is was not hidden. so i am going to flash N7100 rom into my Tmobile Note 2. and use stock tethering app.
you cant use foxfi because its isnt real designed for jb expect the nexus its a ics app an wifitether app even with rooted phone wont word its not a app end problem its a os problem theres a apn block on the phone that wont let rooted apps push data threw that has to be delt with first all versions are having this problem tmob, verzion, sprint,[email protected],iternal,

[Q] Help Getting Data working on MetroPcs Flashed Note 2

I purchased a sprint galaxy note II that had aleady been flashed to metropcs for a good deal. I was able to get it activated for metropcs and currently have voice and mms functioning correctly. I have run into a dead end in trying to get the data to work for the phone. I have used the Galaxy Note2 toolkit. I am new to Odin and Clockwork Mod in general so this is becoming a bit tedious for me. I flashed the synergy Rom yesterday in a feable attempt to get my "data" back on track but now i realize I need help and guidance from the experts of the forum. Any guidance to point me in the right direction would be appreciated- for example- do I need to flash a radio, kernel, etc?... I hope I don't come off as a complete idiot considering I have spent hours on getting this thing Rooted- I really don't know what to do now. Thanks for the help.
Search for my guide on the galaxy s3 forum here. It worked for the evo 4g, evo 3d and galaxy s3, it should work on the note 2.
You wont get data without the proper provisioning. On these phones that requires using dfs or cdma tools. On htc phones it can be done with qpst.
Do the provisioning part of the guide and that should work.

Thanks Max, I figured the S3 would be a good place to start. I will work on it today.
Ok- Started the work on this today and wanted to give an update and where I am stuck. I am at BloodyKiller 86's section of the provisioning. I'm on windows 8- I installed the Diag drivers and can now see in my device manager a tab under modems that lists "Samsung Mobile USB Modem." In checking the properties it shows Com 3. On my Galaxy Note 2 when I do ##3424# it pulls up a PhoneUtil screen(UART)- I can either select CMDA Modem or PDA and then below that there is a Qualcom USB SETTING tab that gives me the following options: (mtp), (mtp+adb), (ptp), (ptp +adb), (RMNET+DM+Modem), and (DM+Modem+ADB). I am now stuck with using CDMA Workshop. I downloaded the demo version and am not sure if this is the reason i am getting stuck. I have chosen COM 3(shows in the properties of the Samsung Modem) and can connect to it successfully but when i attempt to Read Device in DM mode it gives me the "Failed...Device does not answer." I have tried choosing the different options above and connecting but to no avail. I am hoping you may have some advice for me. I appreciate all your hard work and will continue to work on this until I get this Note 2 working with Data.

It says that for every contact.
But you can only video chat with contacts who have Google talk with video chatting capabilities

[Q] 2013 LTE nexus 7 - lost native tether with tmobile on kitkat

Just as the title says. I used to tether every day on the train with my tmobile plan. I flashed manually to the official kitkat image a few days ago, and since then my tethering has been blocked by tmobile.
Has anyone else run into this and solved it?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
This is really disconcerting for me. I had my sim in a mobile hotspot with T-mobile and bought the Nexus 7 to put that sim into. I would still be able to tether with the tablet and also use SMS directly from the device instead of accessing it through a webpage. With this update, Google breaks the two features I bought this device for. Not only is this a problem but I can't seem to find a place to actually complain to Google about this and expect to get any kind of answer about it.
Check the nexus 5 q&a section. There is a hack to fix this.

I'm going to flash back to 4.3 tonight to see if i can get my tethering working again.
There is no benefit to 4.4 on my nexus 7 compared to 4.3. Actually, there is only a downside, many apps I use just crash on 4.4.
Will report back tonight if my tether starts to work again.
ok, an update as I said. I flashed the previous version "jls36i" stock image back, and I'm happily tethering once again on the train
Does anyone know where I have to go on the internet to get an answer from Google as to why tethering is disabled on Kit Kat for the Nexus 7? I've tried to find some place to send an email, have a discussion, fill out a web form, or anything but I can't find anyplace that I'm sure will get me an answer back. I'm not a social media person but I will join one if I can get an answer to my questions. Any help would be appreciated.
They've definitely changed something in the past month or two. I was able to tether to my ipod w/o any issues. I hit my 500mb limit today. I figured, no big deal, will just fire up my vpn (L2TP) from the ipod. Done deal, right? Nope. They can still detect it somehow.
I will have to check it out on my pc. I have a hunch they can somehow tell that tethering is enabled on the phone (nexus 5 4.4).

HD calling with video verizon note 4

I was informed by VZW that my note 4 is ready for HD calling with video. The feature has been on my account for some time. It worked with our galaxy S5 phones. When I upgraded my phone to the note 4 , I lost the feature. VZW told me I can use it on my phone with the lollipop update. Unfortunately, I have blocked all OTA updates on my phone while waiting in hopes we would get a root on the retail devices. So here is my issue. I want to install the file for HD calling with video, without updating to lollipop. Does anyone know of a way of getting the extracted file or files to install for video calling? I don't know if anyone is in the same situation but thought I would see if there is a work around.
