Android is Linux, but I guess you mean a desktop OS like Ubuntu. While you cannot replace it from my knowlededge, you can run them simultaneously, albeit slowly. I haven't tested this with the Xperia Play, but hey, it's worth a shot! Search Opensourcegangster on Youtube.
Just search backtrack for android and bam

I take it I won't need to find the drivers for the play since i already have the PC companion installed?
just try if it can't root your phone then you might need a driver may be just gorden gate driver but just try it first.

... That would mean it is probably a BREW game for a feature phone (not smartphone). While the Android Dalvik VM can interpret Java, the system hooks are all wrong for BREW. You might look for a BREW emulator and then see if there is some place you can buy the game from.

I haven't been able to keep up on the development of roms but do we have a r800x ice rom that has the Sony framework? Or has some sort of work around been created that allows the install of psx pocket apps? Thanks.

I've been wondering if anyone would want to have an ubuntu on their phones.Like you can see on the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLtcj7FdIYA&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Basically I like it'it's smooth and guy on the vid said;"it can be done for variety of devices".So I would like to see if anyone is interested in this project "Ubuntu on SXS",and do you like it?

I like it so much & I dreaming it will be port to our Xperia S
Yes they are coming with their own line, but if we can port it,why the heck not?!Honestly I would like to see this on my Xperia S...and maybe with the dual boot option we have we could have both the Android and Ubuntu

All I own is apple. Any way to root the new 211 fw with a mac?
Sent from my LT28h using xda premium
Wow owning apple must be nice.
Anyway, you can not root on osx directly but you can either use bootcamp or an vm program.
You can download any windows os, install it and test it for 30 days for free, that should be enough time to root.

Yeahhh I didn't want to do bootcamp just root but guess I'll have to. Thanks

Google for vmware, it's easier and faster than bootcamp if you only want it for rooting.

Or try VirtualBox from Oracle. I find it has a smaller footprint running on the Mac than VMWare Fusion does.
