Internal storage problem - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys. Hope this is the right section for this post. Just noticed I only had 1 gig of memory left. Seems odd since I usually don't put too much garbage on my SD card.
Any who I cleared some junk and noticed something weird. Used space is showing about 4 gig. But only shows 4 gig available?!
Doss that mean only half the SD card is actually usable??
Thanks.

Nandroid backups?

Ya I guess but I thought those were saved on the SD and it would take into acct everything on the SD card.
On a side note....I have almost 2 gigs worth of blobs!! Is that normal?? Seems mighty high.

can always use twrp.

In latest versions of cwm, you can change the backup method back to tar in the backup and restore menu, should be easy to find.

Normal, remember to remove the blobs folder, the tar format makes it easier and faster to move using MTP too.

We need more info. What roms/mods are you using? Have you tried transferring the data from the sd card to a pc, reformatting the sd card, then transferring it all back and putting it in the phone?

You may need to back up your memory card than reformat it than restore it again from your backup. I found than reformatting will fix most memory card issues.

Unfortunately it takes a little time, this may be the answer to your problem
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Be patient. Sometimes it gets stuck for a while, but it eventually goes. I've had situations where I've had to wait 10 minutes. Now, that's only happened like twice but it does happen. Just give it time.
Also, did you just flash a ROM? Like, flash, reboot, and this happens? Because whenever you flash a ROM, the media scan takes forever.
If nothing really works, just try reflashing the ROM.
I formatted my sd and got rid of 5 of my 8 gb ._. Now I'm waiting for everything to get back on.

There is a bad read on there somewhere. Why do you only have an 8MB card? It came with a 16MB? You definitely need to back it up on a computer with a card reader, then go into CWM and reformat the card.

Did the thread i linked to do no help? The zip in that thread will put you back on stock unrooted mb1.
I honestly don't think root has anything to do with your memory issue. I would bet there is leftover crap that didn't get deleted somewhere.
You can try formatting your internal sd card, though that'll delete everything, but it'll give you a fresh start.
Make sure to have a backup of something on your external sd card though.

If your memory is low, make sure you don't have ROMs or big downloads left over from downloads. Make sure you delete the backups with a file explorer.

Lol Jellybean didn't kill that, Samsung did. People complained about not being able to use the whole 16gb of internal for apps on the S2 so they partitioned the memory differently on the GS3 and up. The GS3 on initial ICS release didn't have the move to SD option. And my GS2 on Jellybean still has move to SD option

I have been using this on all my android devices since my first Prime .. You need root.
Once you have just scan and pick what you want to move and it done.
I store all of spotify download playlist and any game that take up a lot of space.
The nice thing is it updated quite a bit and if something goes wrong the developer is general quick to fix.

Use a file manager like Root Explorer and navigate to

Looks like it would be a lot easier for you if you simply plugged your phone into
the computer and made two empty folders on your windows desktop.
One called InternalSD the other ExternalSD and simply copy the contents of internal and
external into those folders and in windows
Then by doing simple search in windows you will find everything that you are looking for.
Once you find all the stuff you are looking for move only those files and folders you need
into a new folder on your windows desktop and start from there.
Good luck!
