Hi Guys,
I try to use ZipThemer to change my softkeys, but can't manage to make it work. When i create a update.zip for the desired softkeys it works, but when i flash them nothing has changed. Currently I am on ParanoidDroid Rom (4.1.2) and love it.
Can someone help me or does someone know what i'm doing wrong?
On PA are you in tablet UI mode? If so it won't work because when in tablet mode it pulls from the folder drawable-sw600dp-xhdpi however most zipthemer softkeys only replace the ones in drawable-xhdpi. If you put the original zip on your computer in the zip extract /res/drawable-xhdpi rename it to the previously mentioned folder put it back into the same directory of the archive. And then redo the zipthemer update and you should be golden.

Thnx a lot Über.. Will try that. I am not on tablet mode but in Phablet mode. Does it work the same way then?

Hello there,
I found an easy way to change the icons of system apps[msg,music...etc] for ppl who don't know to use ADB
1.Now your ace should be rooted...install root explorer or any file browser that can copy the .apk from system/app.Eg..ive copied the music.apk to sd card.
2.now transfer it to your PC and replace the icon.png in drawable mdpi with your own file using winrar..[Every apk has a diffrent name for the icon..for some it will be ic_launcher..etc],so check it and replace
4.now place the edited .apk in the app folder in the zip file i've attached, move it to your sd card[don't put in any folder]and flash in recovery...
I think most of the people know of this site?
Even I got in touch with it on the first day of visiting SGA forums.
but you cant change the icons in app drawer using uot..you can do that by following my steps......
Oh, had no idea. Was just generally talking about the site, i installed Go launcher on the first day so i havent got in touch with TW xD

i use MyFiles.apk and now it doesn't show MyFiles, just replaced the icon then the apk using Root Explorer and rebooted, disappeared. what to do?
you cant just replace your apk in root explorer...follow the updated method above
I did like you say up, used ur zip, replaced the icon then inserted the apk in app folder in the UOT zip and entered Recovery mode and installed it from there, still doesnt' appear, maybe because i change it 1st, and didn't do backup :7
try changing something else..make sure your using .png of same dimension
Tried it with memo.apk an nothing happen.

I got it figured out, was trying to mod Blend ICS apps.. need de-odexed ones..
Ok new question.. This is obviously my first time figuring out how to put these back together... heres my issue: Im using the multi-tool the app im adjusting is mms.apk.. after I extract and edit the images in the res folder I choose option 3 to zip it up and then 5 to zip align and then it creates the new unsigned apk, which I then rename to Mms.apk ... when I dump it onto my phone it doesnt have the icon in astro, it looks like the white icon with the gear on it.. when i try to install it gives a parsing error... I assume its because its a system file and I need to adb it onto the phone.. but why isnt it showing up with the original mms icon? and then secondly.. I cant get multitool to adb push to my galaxy s2 it just says waiting on device.. is there something I need to do besides usb debugging and connect it to the computer? sorry for all the noobness.. gotta start somewhere right?
Oh also Im using fireworks to edit the png's and exporting them back and i noticed when i sent it back out it was like 29kb so I image export and optimized down to 2kb does that even matter?
You can't dump unsigned app into your phone.
I never workred with tool you mentioned but I think you should have sign option there.
Or you just drug modified images and xml files from that unsigned app into your original one.
It has the option to have signed or unsigned ... both ways result in the same issue...
As I said try to drag modded files and png's into original app and try to flash that.

Worked like a charm.. Makes me wonder what the point of apk manager is at all? Just 7zip unzip.. Edit and rezip...

You can't edit xml files if you just unzip them. You have to decompile them in order to be able to edit them.
ease help me. I just rooted my phone in the morning using cyanogenmon mod. I decided to download fonts but one of the fonts was an apk. So on my computer I click properties and changed it from .apk to .ttf then I put the file on my phone. I used Font installer(root) and selected the font, it told me it had to restart my device so I let it. It's been stuff on the Samsung Galaxy s2 screen
Why would you change a apk file to a ttf?? You do realize the apk file was/is an installation file for that specific font. You def. corrupted something. Restore back if you did a nandroid nackup, otherwise boot into recovery and do a clean reflash of whatever rom your on..

Apk is application file which cant be converted into font file. If you need some fonts you have to find ttf files.

APK stands for Android package I believe. The font was packaged into the apk file, all you had to do was install the .apk file and then select your font in display settings. Your phone is stuck because it can't find a font to display, you are stuck unless you pull all font files and push new ones or install the ROM all over again.

Could someone tell me the location of the current wallpaper? I thought it would be in the system or data folder, but cannot find anything.I really like the current one I have (no idea where it came from) and would like to copy it to my wallpaper folder on SD card.
Here is a screen shot of it also, in case someone recognizes it and could tell me where it is from.
/system/framework/framework-res.apk
Extract that and open it up it should be in the drawable folder. Default_Wallpaper.

That brought up a default wallpaper, but not the one that I currently have. I am pretty sure I flashed something, it didn't do the specific thing I was looking for, so I restored what I had, but didn't change the wallpaper.
Does someone recognize it? That way I can pull it out of there.
What rom? It could be part if the rom in /system/media ... dunno sorry.

I am on CM9 beta 3 now. When this happened, My base setup beta 2 with Blue Mist theme but sure what else.
Thanks for your help though
Go to /data/data/com.android.settings/files and there is a file called "wallpaper" just paste it on your SD card and rename it to "wallpaper.jpg"

The font I'm after is not on Ifont
Not to worry! Download it from the internet and extract the .ttf from the .zip (if it even comes in a .zip) than proceed to the custom section in ifont, press the message at the top, and browse for the .ttf

I am rooted and on Madhi ROM I've just tried and it doesn't work, but thankyou for the suggestion.
OK. I suggest playing with some different font apps. If that does not work, you can replace fonts in any root explorer. The directory is simply /system/fonts

I use an app called fonster, its great for system fonts.
