CyanogenMod 10 terminating apps quickly - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Just installed CyanogenMod 10 on my S3 and am loving it. I did notice that it seems to be closing apps more frequently than the TouchWiz ICS ROM though, can anyone else confirm? It seems like, under similar usage, CyanogenMod loads apps from a cold start more than from RAM.

Haven't had any issues here

Running Apps keep restarting

I was wondering if anyone had an issue with apps in Apps > Running that keep "restarting". I assume that jelly bean is closing these apps to free up memory but on the ram slider at the bottom of that screen I usually hover around 50% of ram being used. It seems that jelly bean is closing apps that I want to keep running.
Also, I noticed that in AOKP, Rom Control > Performance > Other Settings, it lets you change the amount of Ram the minfree taskkiller will keep. AOKP default is 100mb which I've been using this whole time. I am currently trying 25mb to see if that helps keep apps from getting killed.
Does anyone have any insight into this?

Hey saw your post. My problem was fixed with a clean flash. I was on aokp 4.1 build 1 and I had dirty flashed up to build 3. I just recently clean flashed aokp m1 4.2 and my restarting apps problem has been fixed. I would recommend you do that. Let me know if it works for you.

Any other suggestion? I seem to have the same problem with my SIII

Lagging & Reloading Launcher

I know that's maybe a noob question but my phone had never been so slow and i don't know why is doing this..
I'm having some serious problem with my phone on every ROM that i try with Jelly Bean. I've tried stock, Linaro, Paranoid Android, Minco...but every rom behave the same. My phone it's really slow, can't load anything without lagging. I've also tried different kernel, obviously. I've made a video to explain this behaviour.

I don't know if it's just an old phone that needs to be replaced by the new nexus but..i remember that i was doing great with Jelly Bean; about that time i remember that i was surprised for performance improvements after ICS. I've tried to cut of all the sync applications (Currents first of all..) and tried to reduce apps to a minimum but i still got this lag. It's very annoying cause it happens every 5 mintues and i can barely use my phone.
You probably have a ****load of services running.

Actually for some reason I have been experiencing the same thing the past couple days and I watch my running services and apps like a hawk.
Nothing unusual, installed an app or two in that time frame and uninstalled again - nothing changed.
Looked at BBS logs and also nothing out of the ordinary. Something funky is going on for sure.
I am still convinced there is a memory leak in the UI somewhere since my "free memory" after a few days dwindles down to sometimes even under 100MB which I feel uncomfortable with.
After a fresh restart it sits over 300MB free and before this lag became more apparent it would always tune in around 200MB after a few days.
Now I restart every day, sometimes more than once a day just keep performance somewhat decent.
There's a memory leak in 4.2.x. Unless you restart your phone daily you'll get it. Try a 4.1.2 rom, it's Jellybean, but quick again.
no leaks here 4.2.2 axiom and rootbox

Rebooting the phone twice in a day fixed this issue for me , Also an Startup manager app to unload all **** apps that eats the ram
yep, i think that everyone is experiencing lag on 4.2.x roms... JB had never been so fast like 4.1...
There are plenty of thread with people complaining about this

On topic. Seems like you have too much apps and proceses running at the same time.
Try reflashing your ROM and kernel, and start using Greenify for example

This.
Try greenify. Greenify some apps that are taking a lot of ram. If you have Facebook make sure you greenify that. It takes a hell lotta memory

has anyone noticed any lag in newer roms?

Each ROM post 4.1.2 that I've used (4.2+) has been laggy to the point where its unusable. I am currently using TWA
Privs cm9 ICS. On the newer Roms I always wipe system, cache, dalvik cache, and data. I am just wondering why are
Newer Roms laggy?is there a workaround? (By laggy I mean browser randomly closing, taking a long time to do anything
And other things that brings my kindle to the point where its unusable) ( my kindle isn't my main device as I have
A nexus 7 2013 that I'm typing on right now but I need my kindle to be usuable) has anyone experienced this same
Stuff?
You're not alone in these issues. I've bounced from rom to rom looking for the one that compromises the least. Cm9 roms suffer from lack of deep sleep. Cm10 from browser crashes and lag.
Maybe 4.4 is the answer?
Also, the cm9 you referenced, does it deep sleep? I don't think I tried that one.

I have Jellybean 4.3.1 and it doesn't lag in mayor way. It only does when multitasking since it doesn't have so much RAM. I also use Greenify to check for background processes and I try to use low intensive apps. But I think that KitKat can solve many of this problems since it supports low RAM devices.

I doubt it has deep sleep but I haven't charged it in a few days and it wasn't full when I put it down and its still at 50 plus percent....keep in mind I know this just because I check it every few days (don't use it much) and its TWA privs cm9.

Yea. Can't wait till kitkat so I can finally move from cm9.also,I am even considering downgrading to cm7 but I'm not because no app support. Dang amazon only putting in 512mbs ram after 1 gig is standard in mobile devices.(512 wasn't enough for most things when ICS came out, amazon really cheaped out.

[Q]Low ram, low battery, hot phone.

Hello,
I know that there are a lot of similar threads about this but none of them had the exact same problems. I'm asking you for patience as my time is really limited and I can't really browse around the forums or I could only find same vague solutions.
Before anything else this is my setup: gsm galaxy nexus, 4.2.2 AOKP milestone 2, franco kernel, LMT for pie controls, nova launcher prime and only a few essential apps like: facebook, swiftkey, dropbox, whatsapp, viber, quickoffice, some medical apps and so on, nothing special about this and no games installed.
Ok, the problem goes like this. Two weeks ago my phone started acting weird. It's slow, the battery drains fast (not even 8 hours of low usage), sometimes it gets really hot without even using it.
Most of the time I only have around 20-30 mb of free ram. I tried to "greenify" apps like dropbox and franco kernel updater but nothing changed.
Any idea? Any advice? Maybe you could recommend some other rom or kernel i could try? I tried PA a few months ago and the performance was just horrible. I really don't have enough time to try and flash random roms so that's another reason I'm asking for your recommendations.
I don't need high performance for gaming or things like this but i need it fast enough to open some .doc/.docx or .pdf documents or the usual apps.
Thank you!
Haven't you tried just wiping everything and re-installing your current ROM?

Oh... I forgot to mention that.. I tried that before but after 2 or 3 weeks it just goes back to this.

Galaxy Nexus is very slow and laggy and refuses to be any faster

I've had my galaxy nexus for a while and i've put up with the slow response and lag up until now. Most of my apps take forever to use and other just don't even work anymore because there's too much lag. If i even have more than 1 or 2 apps opened, my phone (for whatever reason) just can't handle it, heats up like crazy, and just drains so much battery that I have to take out my battery and wait for a few minutes just so to let it cool down and reset it.
I've tried a few of the better options which is to root my device, get slimkat android 4.4.4 (which kind of worked), and get lagfix premium along with greenify. But after all of that and trying a few other options, my phone is still as slow and laggy as ever. what else is there that i can do? If I need to provide any other information on my phone, let me know and I will reply.
So just to clarify, when use installed your roms you did a full clean wipe, yes?

oh wow u are facing the exact same problems as me though im on aokp rom. it got so bad till i decided to come here to look for an alternative solution too! was hoping to find a new lightweight rom to see if it solves the problem since aokp is like long dead.
so you already tried the slimrom, that's normally my solution to phones being slow I personally use ziyan's cm 12.1 beta builds and for me they are really fast and pretty reliable, they've for just a few minor issues I don't mind, maybe that's something for you to consider
