JMD X problem - LED's stay lit after power off - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Have been running Jedi Mind Trick X for a few days now and I think it's great. Only problems are when I power off, the LED's stay lit. Anyone else run into this? Have to remove the battery to power off.

I would reflash. Mine works fine. Did u flash another kernel? Try cache.wipe if not just reflash and watch what u restore in terms of apps.

It's not done shutting down if the lights are still on. How long have you let it sit?

+1 lol I assumed he waited at least 50 secs
Edit: mine took exactly 14sec

Its just something with the faux kernel on that rom that keeps it from shutting down bit just give it a minute just because the new 4.0.4 roms have no issue with thisb

I've waited over 5 minutes for it to shut down.
Will wiping the cache kill my personal data?

I had the same problem with koodo 4.0.3 and JMTX. I bet you were using CWM Recovery. For me to resolve this issue, I had to switch to TRWP using the dd method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639673
and reflash the room. After that, all was good.
I don't know much about the exact detail, but I suspect CWM recovery doesn't wipe everything (Hence the Superwipe script was needed, but I had problem with the superwipe script as well), where as TRWP does a proper job. That is to say, with CWM, we were effectively doing a dirty-flashing.
Give TRWP a try and let me know if it resolves the issue for you.

Random instant reboot?

I've been on aokp milestone 5.2 for a few days and I didn't know if it was related to the rom or something I did or whatever but I'll be texting or on Facebook or doin something and my phone will just go to the boot animation of the pink unicorn. And I should probably mention that the colors are out of whack for a few seconds before it goes back to normal and boots up.
Edit: Everything's still there when it boots up everything's where it should be and nothing is missing or anything it just literally reboots instantly without warning or notice.
Edit: Could it be that I'm using advanced task killer? I figured it was okay since it was on the high security level setting, just throwing that out there
Thanks for any help.

No solution to this? It's the same as when I posted this thread, 100% random as far as I can tell. I don't notice anything specific that I'm doing when the reboots happen either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got no help but I can say that this ROM ran totally smooth for me for a while and then suddenly got laggy, and apps have begun not responding regularly.

It is usually either a kernel panic or running out of RAM. You could try the V6 Supercharger for the RAM issue. As for the other I would always try odin clean stock then root and flash ROM and do not restore any data. Download and reinstall 3rd party apps fresh.

Use to happen to me also when i was on AOKP. I only noticed it when i was listening to my music tho....all my VC settings stayed the same after it booted back up so like you said it was just a random reboot. I installed V6 and that worked for the most part. The reboots did start back later on down the road tho.....

If by stock battery you mean the battery it came with then yes. I'm also running aggressive settings with v6 supercharger.
My only real concern was if it was damaging my phone in any way, or if something had already been damaged. But as I've said I really can't see anything out of whack aside from the reboots and colors. (the colors get inverted or negative or something for a few seconds on pink unicorn boot animation then goes back to normal and boots up)

Power off issue

I'm on ICS UVLE1 and it seems that I am suffering from a power off issue where the magenta T-Mobile box stays on and the phone never really shuts off. It says brightly lit and I have to force it to turn off by pressing the power button for 30 seconds. It just sucks. It happens whenever I want to reboot or power off my phone. It just never really shuts off or restarts.
I still can't seem to fix this problem and I'm just not enjoying my experience on ICS or maybe my Galaxy S2 is one of those bad apples. Sad to say, I guess my expectations were a little to high. :-/
I rooted and installed ICS mms gallery and calendar . I notice this issue you have l but it restart fine just lag on power off so I just hold power down no biggie

This issue has been addressed many times. Look for dark side cache wipe. Flash it. Then you should be good to go. It has to do with using cwm to flash roms. Don't use the wipe feature in it, flash either super wipe "everything" or cache wipe from TDJ.

Rooted, Now Shutdown Gets Stuck at Pink Goodbye Screen.

Hi all!
A few days ago I rooted my stock T989(ICS) using the galaxys2root method and everything went well. The only issue I ran into though, when I turn off my phone normally (hold power then shutdown), it will get stuck at the pink goodbye screen (as did about 3 others in the comment section of the GS2Root website). When I was unrooted, turning off the device normally, it would hangup a bit at the pink goodbye screen as well, only for about 30 seconds at the most though. In this current state, I've ran this over 5 minutes and it still stays at the pink goodbye screen.
I didn't see this to be too much of an issue since I use notification toggle, which has a a restart and power off toggle that I can access in the notification bar for rooted users. But last night I didn't charge my phone so it was dead when I woke up. The thing is, it was hot. So I'm thinking it got hung up on the pink goodbye screen until the very last drop of battery left. So it just worry's me in the long run if it happens again here and there of affecting the battery. It showed 0% when I plugged in to charge and did take a while to go past that number.
Some background:
-Completely stock rom and kernels (know nothing about flashing/intimidating to do for me as I don't want to ruin anything)-slowly looking into it though
-Only rooted because I wanted to save some game data.
-I've already done factory reset but it didn't fix the issue.
Hopefully any input will help out others with the same problem as well!

Thanks guys! So DarkSide it is then.
So in order to do this, it's essentially just like rooting, right?
This is how I'm thinking of it based on GS2Root's video:
-Boot into clockwork mod recovery
-Install zip from sd card
-Choose zip from sd card
-Find DarkSide Cache Wipe in where ever folder I put it in (which I finally found the download link and hoping this is the right one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477955)
-Choose the zip and apply.
-Done?
Are these the right steps? Or is there anything special after and/or before that I need to do? Don't have to install the DarkSide rom beforehand?
Also, would I ever need to uninstall this for an update? I just read somewhere on my drippler app that t mobile or samsung will provide a future update for bug fixes, but not jelly bean.
That's correct steps then just reboot. It's a script that does what cwm should do plus more. It will wipe both cache partitions then properly fix permissions. It's not installing anything so it won't effect any future updates. Also doesn't matter what Rom your on, it's not specific. Just a fix for cwm not working correctly.

darkside wipe deleted your rom and its data... thats what its designed to do.... do you cant go past the start screen because there is nothing to boot too... reflash your rom or get a different rom.

Superwipe will in fact wipe your ROM. Cache wipe will not wipe your ROM, and will probably help with the reboot hangs.
Superwipe is for before you flash a ROM.
Cache wipe is for problems after an install.

After the Jellybean update my phones screen seems to not turn off.

After I updated my phone to jelly bean via the root 66 inject method my screen seems to not time out.
I have my display timeout set to 15 seconds and I have smart stay turned on.
My question is did the update do this to my phone or is it possible that something on my phone is keeping my phone awake.
If that's the case how can I solve this problem?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Have you tried with smart stay off?
Make nandroid backup first. Then in app manager try wiping data for settings/settings storage.
If thst doesn't help, then factory reset using cwm or twrp. (Stock recovery will also wipe your internal sd)
It may be that there's some data from before you updated that's causing your problem.

Download extended controls and add toggles Screen always on and stay awake. make sure that both of these are disabled. its a weird bug. I had this problem when I was chraging my phone and the screen would never turn off.
Try fixing permissions in recovery. If that doesn't help, make buckup to external sd and try odin again

I was having this issue with my S3, 100% stock. I tried restarting the phone, power off then power on, hard reset and nothing worked. What did end up working was setting a different timeout than what was selected and going back to the home screen, then I went and changed the timeout duration to the one I wanted, went back to the home screen and then restarted my phone. My phone has been working fine and timing out like it should for the last week and a half.
Sometimes when I get a SMS my screen won't turn off. Only started to happen after JB.

[Q] My S3 doesn't like to wake up from a sleep

Okay guys, I've tried everything I can think of, but I just can't seem to get this phone stable. Running several different ROMs (Dandroid, Carbon, Liquidsmooth, Cyanogen, AOKP) this phone frequently will not wake up out of a sleep state and requires I hold power for 10 seconds to hard power off or pull the battery and reboot. It happens with stock clocks/governors/schedules and it happens with custom setups/OC's. I've tried bumping my min mhz up to 500mhz, which seems to work a little better, but at least once a day I have to reboot this phone due to it not coming out of a sleep. It's driving me crazy! I use my phone as my alarm clock, and at least twice a week my alarm doesn't sound off because the phone locks up in a sleep state in the middle of the night. My notification LED still works, so it's doing something, I just can't wake it up. Anybody have any other suggestions?

Also, seems like your phone isn't handling the 3.4 kernel very well. I'd suggest going back to a 3.0 ROM/kernel.

agreed. a 3.0 rom/kernel and a full wipe (including system).
I'm currently on a 3.0 kernel and it just locked up in a sleep state 5 minutes ago. I'm currently running Carbon 1.6.1 with the KT 3.0 kernel. The 3.4 kernel was completely unstable above and beyond just sleep state lockups, so I went back to running a 3.0-based ROM.

haha. thats about as long as mine was on stock. so you've done a complete wipe (data, cache, dalvik, system) before these flashes? have you tried to odin back to stock, wiping and proceeding with flashing a ROM?
maybe odin back to stock (then wipe data and cache) and see how the phone treats you for 24 hours. if it locks/crashes again, you've got bad hardware, buddy. at that point, i would set it up for an exchange. otherwise, if it's stable, proceed with more testing. it could be a specific app thats causeing this. if you odin back, just install the most basic apps you need. maybe install the rest one at a time throughout the day until the error presents itself, if thats really what it is.
I always wipe system, data, dalvik, and cache when romming. I recently odin'd it and it was fine for a while, but now it's back to locking up again. I might just hook it up to my laptop tonight before bed, fire up ddms, and hope it locks up so I can see why.

Do as suggested flash stock ROM and see how the phone likes it. You need to see if the issue is hardware or software. Only way to do that is to have it on stock for longer than 10 minutes and see if it locks up

The point stands, it's a problem with 3.4 kernel. Some devices simply don't like it atm.
You can try changing your minimum frequency as well as your scheduler/governor but chances are that you'll need to revert back to a 3.0 ROM/kernel until there are more updates on the ROM you're using.
You should try AOcP ROM
Its on 3.4 kernel and not one single reboot or sleep death reported on the thread.
There is also a 3.0 version that runs amazing as well
